The groomer Darryl got his dogs mixed up and didn't want to do his job since it was the end of the day. He said that he sees that my dog Bentley hasn't been there in over a year and likes to bite, therefore he wouldn't be completing the grooming. I told him that my puppy has never been there and his name is Rocco. Rocco is 8 months old. I should know better than to shop here by now. I have a big freshwater fish tank, and I buy my supplies and such from this place and the Petsmart nearby. Petco has a better selection, but the problem is their employees don't know how to properly take care of their tanks. EVERY SINGLE TIME I go there to buy a plant or fish, or whatever... I end up with a new and exciting parasite, bacterial bloom or worm infestation. Every time. Last time, every last one of their freshwater tanks had a runaway cyanobacteria (blue/green algae) bloom. I told them what they needed to do in order to fix it, (erythromycin) but they looked at me like I had three heads and blamed the sunlight from a nearby window. No, dude... no. The separate plant tank they have had invasive snails hidden in the cups, and this last visit... I gave it one last shot and ended up with detritus worms like crazy. I will not go back there this year. Maybe I'll try next year and see if they improve. read more

We came in to grab a light bulb for our bearded dragon. We've always gotten 75-100 watt but this time the guy in the store made us feel like we needed the 125. Called a "reptile expert" and told us we needed 150 or at least 125 or our beardie was not doing good. We took his advice and got the 125, next day he was dead. Literally one of the best experiences I've ever had walking into a store. I needed help finding some pumpkin wet nose treats for my dogs and the cashier at the front directed me right to them. And when I came back to check out she mentioned I had a total of $45 dollars in pal rewards and helped me load all of them through my app. She was very knowledgeable and sweet. I brought my Certified Therapy Dog in to be groomed and was absolutely appalled at the way my dog was treated. Dropped Valiant off at 10am and was told he would be ready for pick up at 1pm. Arrived at 1pm to find my dog left unattended in a kennel in the back while the groomer went to lunch. Valiant had been bathed...nothing else. I brought him home and brushed all the snarls and knots they left in his bone dry fur. How can they leave dogs unattended? I will be checking their liability insurance to find the stipulations regarding unattended pets. I am an AKC Trainer/Evaluator and I know proper pet etiquette. No complaints from me. My dog went for a hike and he smelled after so I called for an appointment today and they were able to get him in. For 20% off for his first visit. They washed and brushed him, and did his nails. He smells great a d they complimented him on how good he is. Don't waste your time using the online/pickup deal. for the 2nd time I ordered and realized once I arrived they were out of 1 of the items that I ordered. My friend brought her dog, and the workers at Petco called her a bad dog when blu was wagging her tail wanting to play, when blu was near another dog who by the way the other dog the owner clearly said didn't play well with other dogs and when she licked a workers face the worker got a nasty attitude and huffed like the blu was a bad dog. Said that Blu didn't play well with others, wasn't holding blu properly, which made her jump up. I feel like they were mistreating her dog by not holding blu properly and blu was only trying to play. The Petco workers also said that "you should drug your dog before you bring her out in public." Petco you are awful and the people working there should never work with dogs. read more

I wrote a review 4 years ago praising this place and to this day they still have my praises. I went to Petco 2 months ago to set up a fish tank and I would have to say I've been back at least 20 times between buying more supplies, having them check my water, asking questions, and even adding new tanks. Every single time I've come in they do not hesitate to help assist me. I would like to shout out to the employees who have gone above and beyond no matter how many times they have dealt with me. Jewell, Tyese, Jerry, Destiny, and Tavares thank you for caring for your customers and especially the animals. I have never been to a store that has employees who care about their animals and customers like Petco has. If you look at my photos you'll see everything is clean from the aisles stacked so nicely and neatly to the tanks and enclosures cared for. My dog was groomed and I was told her had to be cut bald without a phone call. As well as his nails being cut so low he bled and it was on his fur which prompted me to come back in to ask further questions. I was told "it's just one nail" as if bleeding on any nail and cut down to the meat is acceptable. Need better groomers. Never had this issue at any other grooming place. read more

I have used this location for grooming and pet necessities for 3 years. The groomers are wonderful with my 100 pound Airedale terrier who is older and has bad joints. Today I had to pick up my dog from grooming and had my husband's truck, I couldn't lift him myself into the truck like I had hoped I could. I went back in to ask for help and immediately had three employees who were willing to help. They didn't have to, I know that's not their job but they all went above and beyond to help like they always do. My experience here at Petco had to be one of the oddest encounters I've ever had. My friends and I had came in with the intentions of buying some goldfish for our apartment. Once we seen some we liked, we asked for assistance with getting them out of the tank. We asked an employee named Beverly to help us, and she proceeded to give us an unnecessary runaround. She said--and I quote "do you have a tank set up? You have to set up your tank, put in your water conditioner, allow it to run it's cycle for 3 days, bring your tank in to have its PH levels tested, our specialist will determine if the water is sufficient living for a fish, and THEN I can sell you your fish. Yeah, taking care of a fish is a lot of work" I felt severely Insulated. Especially when I wanted to simply purchase a 20 cent comet goldfish. I have experience in caring for species of fish. So this was a complete disrespect of my intelligence. So, turns out Beverly was the manager. If this is how Petco is handling customer service. I will no longer be shopping at this specific location. My pet and I have always used a Petco in any state we moved to until now. We moved here to Fayetteville 2 months ago and I booked a grooming appointment for my pet. My pet is a terrier mix when I arrived the stylist Katlyin told me she is personally not going to cut/ shave my pet because she is double coated. I was never told this before so I was confused I told her I have had my pet for 4 years and always brought her to a Petco no one has ever told me this before. She suggested that I take my pet somewhere else I felt insulted and confused. I then went home called a manager and asked questions as to there policy on pet grooming, and asked more about double coated pets. The manger said that the stylist has the right to choose not shave a dog because it is double coated. They made it seem like I wanted to shave her bold all I wanted was a trim because she sheds a lot and I have asthma and allergies so I keep her groomed. I respect anyones opinion and value information if presented the right way that is not what bothered me. Not worth 1 star, I dropped my dog off at 9am and was giving a pick up time for 12-1. At 1 we had not heard anything from Petco so we decided to call. The salon manager Kaitlyn said that an employee was late coming into work so that made her get behind and my dog was not even ready or half way done. I am inINFURIATED at someone who calls themselves a professional didn't have the courtesy to call and explain what was going on. After I explained at drop off my dog was high anxiety and I didn't want him to be left in a kennel SO the manager leaves my dog in a kennel for over 4 hours and she would have left him longer had I not called. She told me to come pick up my dog and had not finished the job I took him there for. Yesterday my partner and I went to the Freedom Park Petco. location to see if we could return or trade two collars that we had bought for our dogs for Christmas. Even though we bought the usual size that fit our dogs for some reason the collars didn't fit right. When we talked to a cashier we were told that returns were not being accepted. We asked to speak to a manager, both the floor manager and the general manager told us the same thing. It was stated that corporate had changed their return policy and wouldn't accept returns until after January 31st. Not accepting this answer we contacted the customer support number that was provided. We were told by customer support that that the return policy had not changed and it should have been honored. We were told to go to the Sanford location to return the products and get a full refund. We were not pleased about being misled or being treated with disdain while asking questions. My husband and I had a wonderful first few experiences with this location. The team member we worked with signed us up for rewards and price matched our items without a hassle. Which is expected, considering they claim to price match with various places on their website (chewy, persmart, Amazon, etc). However, Nick checked us out at our last visit to this location. When I asked him to price match, he not only told me he wouldn't, but also that he would need to scold his team members that price matched for me before. As a customer, this left an awful taste in my mouth. I called on my way home to speak with the manager of this location, which, sadly for the employees there, turned out to be nick. He told me that only online orders get price matched. He didn't explain this to me in the store- he basically just told me no. If this location refuses to price match, it should be explicitly stated on the website that only online orders can price match. And nick could benefit immensely by taking some communication courses. read more
