I had an appointment scheduled for 7:45 AM, but when I arrived, the doors were still locked. An employee happened to walk in around 7:42 and opened the doors, but the signage indicating that grooming does not open until 8:00 AM was confusing and made me second guess whether I had the correct appointment time. I was informed that the bath and haircut could take up to 5 hours, but after 6.5 hours with no call or text, I became concerned. I tried calling for an update but didn't get an answer, so I left a message. Shortly afterward, I received a text saying my dog was ready. This left me worried that he may have been finished earlier but left in a kennel unnecessarily long due to the lack of communication. When I picked him up, I asked how he did. The response felt dismissive, and I was told, "As you know, it's hard to get his back legs, so those are not done as well." My dog has had hip surgery, which we've communicated in the past; this was our fourth visit; so I was surprised by the tone and comment. That said, I thought he looked good overall and smelled much better, even if he didn't have that fresh "clean" scent. I was also told it would be better to bring him in every 4 to 6 months for proper maintenance. However, I double checked and realized our last visit WAS six months ago, which made the feedback feel a bit condescending rather than helpful. Overall, while my dog looked fine and I appreciate the grooming work, the lack of communication, questionable tone, and unclear signage made this visit less than ideal; especially considering the high cost of the service. They offer shopping carts and yes you are allowed to bring in your pet into the store. They offer many different products and services for most pets. They do offer dog grooming services, dog training either group or solo training with you and your pet. Mostly I like the option you can order your pet items online or the app. You can pick up the items in the store once the order is complete. Their prices are higher compared to other stores. They do offer a wide variety of pet food. My family and I recommend you utilize Petco for your pet. read more

I ran in today last minute to grab a bag of dog food and had my two dogs with me. One of them escaped from her collar and the staff jumped into action. One quickly closed and locked the automatic doors to keep her inside and another caught her and held her so I could put her collar and leash back on. But if the package itself was then I could. I just tight that this was really odd. If you are not gonna honor a discount for an item that was from Christmas then take the paper off. We have been taking our sweet puppy boy to be groomed at Petco for years (typically the Clovis location). He always receives the very best comments from his groomers, both verbally and in his "report card." This summer, each time we used the online scheduling system to set up our boy for his appointment, the Friant location would cancel on us DAY OF (including Father's Day!), claiming one of their groomers called in sick that day "leaving them in a bind." The last time this occurred, they were trying to get us to come in earlier, saying our appointment was too late in the day for the short staff they had. They went on to tell us that the appointments shouldn't be scheduled that late-an online portal malfunction...which is it, a malfunction of the system, or a sick employee? We asked this very thing and they grew combative with us. We were of course frustrated, because we had realized that these last minute cancellations were not due to staffing needs but just a desire to close shop quick, and we were getting the short end of the stick. We told the Friant store we would not be coming back and we would take our business to the Clovis location where we never had problems (he was groomed that next day). Until...this weekend, when we attempted to schedule our guy online, and we were blocked from using the system. My husband called Clovis and they said the Friant store had a note in the system that Clovis could not access. When my husband tried to call Friant, they originally tried to pass this off as a Clovis issue, but once he spoke to Vince (claimed to be the Friant store manager), Vince indicated the note was applied to block our use as simply "combative." My husband confirmed: your store cancelled on us multiple times in a row, last minute. We questioned this. Your store told us we "are not a good fit for your store." I called about an order I placed for same day delivery. Apparently the orders already been put together. I'm waiting on a door dasher to pick it up. I asked in the event that a dasher doesn't may I pick it up in store. Not only was the first person I spoke to clueless about this particular question (I get it's out of the ordinary) she then tried spewing some corporate bs that wasn't really related to my question. The manager, didn't get his since he didn't introduce himself. Ended up saying that they couldn't make the adjustment when in my head I could just cancel it and pick it up. Instead they told me to speak to customer service. They weren't helpful and I'm leaving at 5am for the airport so to add to the stress now I don't know if it'll be picked up today and if I should just start shopping else where for my pets needs. Would think a company receiving thousands of dollars if not more would take the time to make sure the people are assisted in what they need for their furry family members. there are specific organic dog treats here that petsmart just doesn't carry. for that, we come to this petco & this location is always clean, organized and customer service is super helpful & friendly. they keep their shelves well stocked & have employees at every corner in case you need help. their aquatic section needs a bit of help though. they are fully stocked with cleaners, filters, conditioner, fish food & ornaments but are lacking in gravel, sand - substrate. also the majority of their aquatic plants are not healthy. but, their dog & bird departments are perfect! read more

The gentleman at the checkout was very helpful and recommended the appropriate shampoo, paw spray, and body spray as I was struggling to pick the best product. This review is for the grooming department. I have brought my dogs here twice now for their nail trim and buff. Both times Julie was the person who tended to my dogs. I have two big loud talkative huskies and Julie is ok with it. She doesn't make us feel like a burden and even remembered my dogs even though it has been a couple months since we've been there which made me really want to continue to bring them back. I didn't have to give her a big spiel about them she just knew they're crazy but sweet and took them back with no problem. I have already been recommending Julie specifically to my friends and will continue to. Thank you! In the store part.. I can confirm that this pet establishment does not meet the needs to care for furry family. From providing bulk bin dog treats that are toxic to not providing water to visiting pets. We came by to get supplies after a quality 84 degree weather, and after asking, the guy scoffed at our request. That's it. That's all that happened. Third strike is the online ordering. COVID-19 phase: Masks are worn by workers and required! Definitely not the best service! The worker Jason was rude upon entering, but at least helped get what was needed. He literally attacked maliciously upon entering. It wasnt to help either! We may be in an epidemic, but there is no reason to be rude! I have officially adopted a sweet kitty that has been around for a while and wanted to clean him/her up. Dry shampoo was bought and a cute kitty toy. At least I got what was needed. I scheduled my appointment for 5/13. However, Petco called me to reschedule my appointment due to the water heater being out. I completely understood. However, I do work during the week. They scheduled me for the following week on Saturday. I was 10 minutes late to my appointment. I'm which I called, I said that I would rather cancel and go somewhere else. The stylist, said "okay have fun" and hung up. They were so disrespectful and rude to me. I spoke to someone at 10:12 in the store, with my vaccine cards ready (my appointment was at 10). Redeeming- Today I returned to the Petco I had an issue with about a month ago by invitation of the GM Vince. I find it very pleasing when someone goes out of their way rectify a situation that went awry. Vince called me up Thursday and was very apologetic, and he then went above and beyond making sure me and my buddy was well taken care of and for not just financially compensating me for what happened but for the feeling of truly being caring. I've brought my puppy here for free puppy playtime and he loved it! Shonna is great with the pups and gives everyone a fair share of playtime together. I've also purchased items for my pup here customer service could improve a bit only because it's always hard to find someone to help me or even someone to ask if I need help. I've also took my pup to get groomed for the very first time and the girls where nothing but nice. Took my dog for the second time to get groomed and I really had high hopes in better customer service at least but nonetheless the grooming staff is nothing friendly or welcoming considering the fact that I already hesitate to leave my dog with anyone, so didn't really feel the best leaving her. I had taken my dog to another Petco location in Fresno and totally different experience over there (a better customer service experience). When I left my dog was told 2-3 hours max, I came back at three hours with no call, and was worried on why my dog hasn't been ready on time. Tried to give it the benefit of the doubt to say maybe they had many dogs that day and the groomers aré probably all busy. I come back to ask if my dog is almost ready to THREE employees gossiping about the rude customer review someone had left. I wonder why? The girl then said she'll check on my dog. Said she was just on the last step on getting dried off and it should be another 15 min. So you're gonna tell me that your gossiping with all of your coworkers in the front where customers could hear you instead of finishing my dog up? And then goes on to ask if we could leave a nice review and at checkout was asked if we wanted to leave a tip! I also got the Shed Release plus package and my dog has been shedding since then so not sure what the benefit of that package is. Beyond crazy how unprofessional this company is. The young teenage guy in the grooming doesn't know how to handle a 17lb dog. Yesterday I took my dog to this store to get a gift for his birthday, grooming was busy so I scheduled for today. I asked the lady who will be in charge and she gave me a name of a female groomer. I went in today (took an hour off from work) , got there 2 minutes late and the groomer who HAPPENED TO BE THE SAME TEENAGER showed me attitude and he HAD to walk back to the station. I offered him my time in case he wanted to take a bathroom break or his break in general (i didn't have to but we all need bathroom break). My dog is not an aggressive one, he kept referring to the last time he wasn't able to handle him because he was anxious because of his car crate, NOT THIS TIME. He took him inside, took him all the way to a blind spot I couldn't make eye contact with him (despite asking him to let him see me, he is a rescue dog and he feels safe when lock our eyes into each other). My dog was doing pretty good there until he was trying to get off the table but isn't he locked on the table??? This guy walks out after 15 minutes only one half nail done with chips around the nail and tells me he is trying to hurt himself (not the grumer) . DO NOT LIE TO ME. I was watching you guys from the mirror despite not letting me to see what you are doing. He also recommended to go to pet smart. The manager took his side, customer service is down the toilet.. I will. Do NOT take your pet there if this teenager is on duty. I will definitely find another place where there are educated and experienced dog groomers and they don't waist my time . They should have never accepted walk ins at all. After almost two hours and I asked what was going on they took us. The actual vets were nice, but the system to get check in was not organized. They also did not even set up a line people had to all gather together and wait. It would t have been difficult to organize a line system so customers could safety stand at a distance while waiting. This is a fairly new store I stopped in to pick up something. First off the young lady behind the register was very nice and polite. I asked about the dog grooming. Only because of my Vet telling me about the DOG FLU and how contagious it is and that dogs should have the vaccine and booster if they visit dog parks and go to groomers. Due to my dogs system he can't have the vaccine and he use to go to a groomer every few months before we moved. The girl explain to me they don't require the dogs to have The Vaccine and they keep it very clean. Well OK I thought maybe I'll bring my baby. Then I saw they had a Orange tabby Cat in one of the plastic windows, I started to put my finger in the holes to pet him and noticed he looked ill, so I thought is this Cat for sale? Our is he in the Pet Hospital and if so why is he out in public eye? While I was there I used there restrooms and OMG it looked like they have only been swept since they opened the tile was so filthy and gross, even the grout was gross, the walls where dirty the toilet had poop all over the base. The sink had hair in the drain and very dirty. This tells me they don't clean or Sanitize there store. Plus when we walked in my husband said what is that awful smell.... when we where leaving a lady and 3 kids where walking in and the little girl about 6 or 7 held her nose and said eww mom this place smells so gross. I think that it's very important to things clean and sanitary especially with all the germs and being Flu season. I'm posting this for 2 reasons first maybe the store manager will do something about those bathrooms could you imagine a little child touching that poop on that toilet then putting there fingers in there mouth GROSS!!! Second REALLY not required for the dogs that come in to have a vaccine after what my Vet told me and I've read on line Hell No I'll learn how to cut my dogs hair myself.... I would just like to add that I did look through the windows and the grooming area looked clean. But I can't say if they Sanitize it or not. But I do know that Petco and Petsmart have students in grooming school working there for part there training. read more

So, I am starting a fish tank. I have the tank set up, but soon I will need to get some decor, gravel, and of course the fish. I've been to other independent and big name pet stores around town, and thought I would pop in to see how this one measured up. I was very disappointed. The first thing that I noticed, were all the fish signs showing you what the fish was and how much it was, were mostly in black and white. They looked like bad copies of a picture. So if you saw a fish you liked, you couldn't really look to see which one it was, because there was no color, and the font was blurry. If it was meant for an experienced person, a beginner, if it needed a planted tank, if it likes a community, you have no idea because you couldn't make out the fish, let alone read the information. The second thing I noticed, were all of the dead fish in the tanks. Now I know, fish die in there. It happens. BUT, you know what I didn't see at the other stores? Dead fish. Not only dead fish, but dead fish that had clearly been dead for a WHILE. I saw no less than 4 dead fish in various tanks, in various states of decomp. You can tell a newly dead fish vs one that has been in there a while. Not only is that unsightly, but a rotting corpse can make the other fish sick as well. After I saw that, I left pretty quickly. You would think they would do a once through every night or every morning to take out any of the dead fish. But nope! Gross. read more

I have been into this new Petco enough times now to have witnessed consistency with great help from the staff. They have a lovely team. Today, Mitchell answered the phone with such enthusiasm that I thought it was a recording at first. I asked him if he could bring my app order out to the car for curbside pickup and he did right away. And every time I've gone into the store they've all been very nice and helpful. One time I realized at the last moment that my dog was out of his very particular dog food and I called the store and told them I couldn't get there until 4 or 5 minutes after closing time but the person who answered the phone invited me to still come and told me they would have the food waiting and would stay open until I got there. I REALLY wish I had read these reviews before wasting my time trying to get my cat groomed here... I recently moved to Fresno from Concord. My cat has been groomed at the Concord Petco for nearly 5 years now. Kristen (at the Concord location, who's amazing btw) had mentioned, before, that my cat could be fussy. But never ONCE did she have such an issue that she "declined" the service. I dropped off my cat here this morning to Debbie, who was instantly questioning EVERYTHING about my cat. His age, what kind of diet I have him on and about the two matted areas on him- as if I'm completely neglecting my cat. I've had my little Buddy for 14 years without any issues. It was obvious to me she was finding reasons to get out of doing her ONE JOB. No more than ten minutes after I drop him off, I get a call from her saying she's "declining the service because he's hissing". Ummmm, obviously he's scared being in a new/unknown area. Sounds to me as if she's in the wrong line of work. I will not be coming here again due to this poor customer service. I love this PetCo!! I am there on atleast a weekly basis if not almost daily just for the CUSTOMER SERVICE and all of the employees knowledge! I walk in either to purchase or get my dog groomed and every single employee I see greats me and also asked if I have any questions. I just purchased some pumpkin purée for his stomach and Jason the manager was VERY helpful when it came to picking it out and also the knowledge he gave me about it also is very friendly. All the groomers take such great care of my dog I will continue to go this certain Petco for their wonderful staff and grooming staff! SHOUT OUT TO ALL STAFF AT PETCO! Brianna has groomed my dog twice and I am so thankful for her! I've had 2 groomers refuse to groom her saying that she's aggressive but Brianna said she has no issues with her. My dog gets very nervous, so she suggested a "zoom groom" and just seemed to actually want to groom her even though I had taken my dog to her literally right after another groomer from another Petco had refused service and went on and on about how aggressive she was. The only thing that changed was the groomer, not my dog, and suddenly my dog was able to be groomed. I'm not saying the other groomer was bad, I'm just saying I find it odd that one groomer physically could not groom her but Brianna had no problems.
