The business website does not give an exact address, so I'm doing what I can here to point out this business. It is Elder Rd., maybe 20 yards south of Day, on the right if you're headed south. My dog, who is now 5-and-a-half years old, had his puppy "kindergarten" here years ago--basic leash and manners training, some exposure to agility tasks, etc. The proprietor, Antoinette, is skilled, professional, smart, experienced, patient, everything you could want. I know that many people go on to do agility training with her for competition. For myself, my contact with her since puppy training has been going to her scheduled playtimes every so often and, especially, boarding during holiday and other trips. That's why I categorize this place under boarding rather than training, although she does both very wonderfully. To get more detailed: I spent some time taking my dog (a Brittany) to Linda's Camp K-9. I think that place is great, but I feel that my dog was a bit overtaxed by the all-day, open experience of the place. Not to be too graphic--but, hey, it's facts--when I left him there for the day while I was at work, he would have runny stools. One cause of that in dogs is excessive stress. He's an excitable and high energy boy, and a day at Camp K-9 would definitely leave him collapsed on the floor for the rest of the day to the morrow. When I want to board my dog for a few days or a week, I prefer Top Hat & Tails, because she releases the dogs a few times a day, pays close attention to them individually (she's a smaller operation), and I think his overall level of stress is lessened while his needs for running and sociality are still met. No runny stools. Now, I don't want to be dissing on Camp k-9--I'm pretty sure if I said only to let my dog out for an hour in the morning and an hour in the afternoon, then they might be able to do that (but I don't think they're set up to do that with all the dogs there; that would require a lot of crates). If you have a high-energy dog prone to excitement, then Top Hat is probably a preferable environment.

The facility is incredible and absolutely affordable!! Brought my Great Dane here for boarding for…read morethe weekend and added on a walk. Each night is about $45 for boarding. A downside is you get charged for Sunday night even if you pick them on Sunday. And you can only pick them up between 4-6pm on Sunday. They take your dog outside every 2 hours during the day to potty AND you get 3 play sessions each day! The front desk area is incredibly nice, although I was terrified my pup was gonna mark his territory on the rug or chairs in the waiting area - luckily he didn't! My dogs room was in the aquatic facility and had a futon and chair for him to chill. The facility is huge with a ton of buildings and plenty of outdoor play areas with high fences. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was the slightly odd interactions I had with the staff. I called a few times to check on my pup and they seemed surprised that I did and just told me he was doing good. And the behavior sheet I got at the end was pretty bare compared to ones I've gotten at other places, especially with him being there for 2 days. Overall my pup seemed to enjoy his time here and was well cared for!

During my month of working here I watched workers hit dogs, shove them in crates for hours at a time, and leave them in kennels without water. one of my coworkers confided that she was worried about boarding her dog there because she was worried that the people working in boarding were abusing the dogs. The girls in daycare wouldn't even clean water bowls or doggie accidents. they would do anything to get out of doing work. they would just rinse the bowls and leave the pee on the floor. working here showed me that they absolutely put money and profit over the care and safety of dogs. Multiple times i wrote a report card saying that the dog either didn't seem to be enjoying themself or said that they might benefit from training because they were misbehaving and later found the report cards in the trash. They didn't want to give it to the parents in case they decided to stop going. I once brought in some drinks for lunch and put them in the fridge for later. Instead of asking me to drink them or moving them, the shift lead who bullied me relentlessly while i was there dumped them in the sink while saying to another employee "she doesn't need these." The cherry on top: Once I got a new job, the manager, bren, who fired me, came in about a month after i started, to interview there. (hmmm... i wonder why?) she decided to tell my new manager that i got fired and slander me. so it wasn't enough to fire me, she had to get me in trouble at my new job too since i told my new manager that i left there, not that i got fired. how unprofessional is that to talk about someone's employees like that? My coworkers were also blantantly racist and homophobic. One said to me "that's why he's black" about someone on her snapchat like it was some sort of smart comeback, and another one told me she was convinced a gay couple was s*xually abusing their dog just because they were gay. INSANE!!!! anyways, the unprofessionalism and abuse (human and dog) is insane here and if you care for your dog, go take them somewhere else where they will actually care about your dogs and not just profit, for cheaper prices too! there is one just down the road from them, whispering pines, although I don't have any experiences with that place. moral of the story: bunk and biscuit is a TERRIBLE business.

Even though our family was pretty social, she was never part of our social life. When people came over, we put her in a locked room. She rarely went in the car anyplace, and going to the vet was a nightmare. Last summer, I turned Aubrey's world upside down. I got married and moved into a new house. This household included another dog and a special needs 26 year old. The first few weeks were stressful. Aubrey was very anxious and my stepson did not read her cues. There were a few bite incidents and nobody could relax. I didn't know what to do and thought I would have to surrender my dog. I looked online and saw Kasten's Dog Training, which I knew to be close to my new house in Elkhart. I truly doubted that anyone could help my six year old dog. I called and scheduled an online interview. I remember feeling very optimistic after that first phone call. Right away, I felt like there was someone who understood what we were going through, and was going to help me keep my dog. I had nothing much to lose, so I signed her up! Aubrey participated in Program 5- Behavioral Modification for Aggressive Dogs and Dogs with a Bite History. She spent 21 days at Kasten's split into two sessions. After the first 9 days, I came to pick her up and immediately noticed a difference in her demeanor. She completed the second half of her training right before Christmas. When my son came home college, he was shocked to see how much better she was behaving. She had a new confidence and was no longer so anxious. She was a treat to take on walks and we didn't have to worry about her darting out the door anytime it opened. We have taken Aubrey to Kasten's for boarding several times in the past year. Being able to board her, and know she is safe, has been such a blessing. The fact that she was receiving refreshers as she stayed there was an added bonus. Before coming to Kasten's, I never would have even thought that I could board her anywhere. The trainers at Kasten's were so helpful and did such a great job with Aubrey. They worked tirelessly with her, and I could see the extra effort that they put in to get her to feel more comfortable, and eventually enjoy training sessions. Kasten's Dog Training has improved our family's life. We can now enjoy our active social lives and include Aubrey. She jumps happily into her kennel when told, walks on a leash like a show dog and even goes on trips to the hardware store several times a month. She and my stepson have a mutual understanding, and both of them feel much safer around each other. Making that phone call to Kasten's was truly one of the best decisions that I have ever made. Thank you to everyone at Kasten's - you have made such a difference in our lives!

We have been taking our Great Pyrenees to Gordon's for quite a long time. Unfortunately, after…read morepaying for the service today my husband was told that they can't groom him anymore because he's too large...and referenced his weight which was 20 pounds more than his actual weight. Over the course of all the times we have taken Bear to be groomed, it was never relayed to us that his size was an issue. And then to top it off, she asked if he's on a plan to lose weight!! How unfortunate to not only state an incorrect weight but to imply that our dog is overweight is so unprofessional. What has changed over the year or so we've been taking him? And they're relaying this information as his nail is badly bleeding from them clipping it too low. We have never received any feedback or concerns with Bear until today when we were told they're done grooming him. He is a Great Pyrenees, which is a very large dog. His back aligns with my hip when standing next to me. What changed over all these months? No warnings, no feedback...just attempts at fat shaming. Guess what Gordon's..you guys aren't a vet. You guys are rude, unprofessional, and just downright wrong.

They were very communicative and when I showed up, the staff was awesome in person as well. I added on a bath cause everyone was kind and I felt I could trust leaving my pup with them. I wish we had something like Gordon's where I live- but for now, I'll continue to stop by when I'm up there!
