Petco is a retail-store chain that sells products for dogs, cats, fishes, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, and other small household pets. Products include foods, collars and leashes, beds, carriers, toys, aquarium tanks, litter boxes, grooming supplies, and much more. This particular store is in the Greengate Centre shopping center. I recently shopped at this store for my dog and cat. I saw many of their preferred foods and toys. The prices were similar to what other brick-and-mortar stores charge but slightly higher than what online stores charge. I felt particularly interested in the dog cookies. This store also offers grooming, training, vaccines, and adoption, but I did not use them. read more

August 30,2024 5:30pm. I've been looking since April 2024 for another budgie as a companion for Buddy that I found flying loose in the park six years ago. It's co-cage friend 2nd budgie was purchased from a Pet Supplies Plus store 6 years ago, but had passed due to an untreatable.liver failure. I've cared and loved birds, and "accidentally" raised and hand fed baby birds for over 40 years. Couldn't find a local breeder or one in a no-hassle rescue organization. Stopped in to possibly purchase a bird at Petco in Greengate Mall in Greensburg, Pa. Requested if a plain white piece of paper could.be placed at the bottom of bird enclosure to observe fresh droppings for the moment, because the birds were showing puffed up, sleeping, and a few were on the bottom of the cage in same state, which could possibly be sign of illness. Droppings are a good way to see if there is illness. Store clerk said they would have to ask the Mgr. The female clerk proceeded to collect 2 birds to sell to a couple purchasing some. Clerk then walked off to find a Mgr. As the couple were walking with birds, cage, bedding. I asked them if this is their first pet birds? It was for the woman but not the man. I said birds are wonderful. They make great pets. If you ever are concerned over their behavior or health just watch if they are puffed up too much or have droppings that arent like a circle and dot, vets can fix anything like that right up. Told em i birds too, I congratulated them on them their pets and said Enjoy the new birds. Clerk reappeared with a mgr in a few.minutes. I requested if a "clean paper could be placed in bottom of cage for a few minutes or new bedding and the Mgr said he couldnt put anything unauthorized in cage per policy. The bottom of cage had gray pellets that were already dirtied, i explained to was to check droppings.before deciding which bird(s) to get. He refused and said they had 30 day refund policy if anything wrong happened to bird.(illness/death?) Explained i didnt was to buy a bird -take it home to quarantine it for 30days from the other bird or to bring back a dead one for replacement. He said no, cant do the paper/fresh bedding.. So I said, well I'm.going to stay here for about 30 mins to observe and see which is acting best, before deciding if ok to purchase *(best with other birds, beahavior, health wise, maybe observe dropping) So after sitting a few i observed a ladder haphazardly propped in cage fall and almost dull quillotined/choke a bird. I panicked a second watching it struggle, then it wriggled free before i could call out for store help. People came by and left looking at birds. Minutes later manager came up to me and said "I cant have you in the store telling people the birds are sick and not to buy the birds," I said "what?" Then stated he heard i was telling people not to buy the birds that their sick. I looked at his tag "Steve". I said Steve, I did no such thing. Who said that? Why would i be staying here so many minutes watching and trying to decide what bird to decide to take home (or not). He said well he heard thats what I'm over here doing. This is ridiculous, where is that helpful busy staff? Maybe instead of.making stuff up about customers, you should assist in observing and suggesting birds and interacting positively. - No Sale! There's been another turnover. And I'm seeing the advertisements saying there's more change to come with corporate and new product sales in general. This is a nice store. I'm interested to see what's to come. There's been discussion in the past about the obedience classes. While I have never attended any with my dogs, I can say without hesitation that I have only heard good things about their courses. read more

I stopped here in hopes of grabbing a few items and be on my way. I'm not quite sure what it is about Petco, but no two are alike. What I was hoping to be a short visit ended up being a longer than needed one. I basically walked up and down the aisles until I found each item I needed. When I went in search of staff for help, they were scarce and inattentive to not only myself, but other shoppers as well. I'll go elsewhere from here on out in this area. read more

OMG! What did they do to my dog. I asked for her to be trimmed for the summer. She is a labradoodle. The girl who groomed her shaved her completely down, but left her tail fluffy. It looks like there is a feather duster sticking out of her butt! Then the girl insults me for the condition of here paws; the amount of fur that was there. I know she has a lot of fur. My dog doesn't like to have her paws messed with by anyone! FYI don't insult the customer...ever! Especially one who just over $100 to have her dog groomed. This was my first and last time using PetCo grooming. read more

They gave away my appointment time for the dog self wash in front of me. They stated they had me down for an hour earlier. The wash tub was small and one sided. Unlike other bath your own dog places I hhave gone to where it's a large tub and two people can bath at once, one person on each side of the dog. Also the couple that got my time slot decided to wash their dog on the floor instead of the tub. There were large puddles of water that soaked through my shoes. Not going again. read more

We recommend everyone to come to the Greensburg Petco. We have a dog who suffers from social anxiety and hates his nails trimmed. We can not brag about our experience with Billie enough. She is the "dog whisperer" !!!! Our dog anyway! She is calm and patient will the dogs. She allows our pup to relax and she works on his time. Since seeing her, he now tolerates a quick bath when needed from a good hike. It was a fight for us before. We have added to our family and she will be meeting the new fur baby for her first grooming soon!!! The treat bags are a nice touch as well. Always fun to see which one he eats first. Lol read more

Today was a crazy day. The website stated they were open. But when we arrived they were closed. The grooming salon was open with guests. I thought something was wrong. The website said open. I opened the door and came in. The Petco Manager was amazing and made me feel greatI exchanged my crate and felt great about my purchase. read more

My dog and I were returning customers to the grooming salon today. They needed up to date information about his vaccinations. I got the paperwork from his vet last week. The paperwork from the vet had dates of his upcoming vaccinations. To make sure that it was the correct paperwork, I called the vet and she ensured me that this is the paperwork that they provide for all groomers, but to call if there was an issue. Petco denied grooming my dog, saying that the paperwork could have been made up, and not from his vet. They insisted on this even after I showed them the original email from the clinic. I can't call his vet because it is Sunday. We drove over from Pittsburgh to Greensburg for the appointment and now we'll drive back without him getting groomed. His hair is long and it is very hard to book a groomer right now. Furthermore, Petco called me 4-5 times beforehand about the appointment even though we were returning customers. I'm not sure why they are over communicating, but they failed to say that they need very specific paperwork from the vet, not just what the vet provides for all groomers. This could have been avoided. The manager was an employee who used to groom him regularly, and she kept wanting to argue and defend their decision and I had to keep telling her to let it go. His appointment was at 9am and we arrived at 9:05am and couldn't get in - I was knocking on the windows and calling the store (couldn't get through) but they finally let us in over ten minutes later. This was an enormous waste of time and inconvenience. Save yourself the trouble and direct your business elsewhere. read more

My boyfriend and I were going to pick up a puppy. As first time dog owners we had a lot of questions on what to arrive with to take the pup home. Jacob was so nice and helped us with all our questions and offered some really great advice. He told us about some store policies and how helpful they will be down the road. Thanks Jacob! read more

The groomers are very helpful and friendly but some of the staff (I think her name is Chelsea) are very "cold" not helpful, and all around rather unwelcoming. Also, the store is always a mess, including the bathrooms. read more

We have been taking our JRT's to Billy at Petco for about 3 years. She does a marvelous job with grooming Lily and Bobby. She shows a great interest in getting it right and making our pups look like they could enter a dog show. You can readily see she loves dogs and takes pride in her work. She pays particular attention to consistent and even cutting, with particular emphasis on facial contours that we prefer. Nails are always close, buffed and non injurious. You get exactly what the menu says you will get. No shortcuts. Pardon the pun. Our dogs are never traumatized and appear stress free. She is genuine and can be trusted. read more

Horrible experience here first of all they do not care about their animals AT ALL!! If they did they would clean the water and food dishes! There was poop all over the mice food bowls and algae in the freaking water bottles!! When I was looking at the lizards there were two water dragons cramped into a tiny square cage where they couldn't even move around without being on top of each other! I mean that is neglect and cruel! For a company who "cares" so much for animals then why are they not CARING for the animals? And the dog training is very outdated and one minded its all treats treats treats which can be nice and all but if treating all the time works so well then why doesn't it work in the real world?! You know like right outside the door?!?! The customer service is good and some of them do know what they are talking about but I will not return until I hear that they are taking better care of their animals!!! read more
