Recently we bought a dog so it's been a while since I've visited a pet store! Walking in you usually get the usual sense awakening odours that it's a pet store but not so much here! Good sign #1! Selection of items here is gargantuan and you can honestly believe if they have anything for a four legged friend they will have it here! Huge section of chew toys, snacks, bones leash walking apparatus, collars, you name it! Makes you wonder the pet business is actually a huge profitable booming business! On the left is fish tanks and freshwater fish! A few birds and cages scatter the place in the middle left! Prices seem to be reasonable but some items seem excessive. Overall it's a clean easy well organized store that should have what you are looking for! Make Fido happy, get him a toy or treat! read more

I wanted to bring to your attention my recent experience at your store. Unfortunately, I found the cashier at the front, who had purple hair, to be quite unhelpful when I asked for assistance. It seemed she was not willing to provide support, which was disappointing. I believe it's important to have staff members who are eager to assist customers, especially as they represent the store. Some canned cat food I had got from this store was expired ("Best by August/September/October 2020"). I went back to the store the next day and was able to get them replaced, which was pretty nice. My shopping experience was good in general; the store has a pretty complete collection of pet foods. But I think having foods expired over four months on the shelf is a rather irresponsible act of the staff. I do highly recommend checking the expiration date before buying anything just in case. (Tiki Cats is one of my favorite brands too.) read more

The store itself isn't bad and the workers are great and very helpful but why I give this store such a low rating is it's awful treatment of the birds. I have been here twice and checked on their Conures and both times they were in such a bad condition. As a conure owner myself I know what healthy looks like and this isn't it. I know this ring neck is expensive but can't they have someone look in after it better, it's feathered are plucked, the feathers aren't vibrant, it's eyes are droopy and looks like it can barely stand on its feet. This review isn't to bash the workers but just raise some awareness of the treatment of any kind of animal. If it looks bad, get help, give it the attention and/or treatment it needs. read more

Me and my brother picked out a 25$ betta fish for our little sister,along with other accessories. Our total added up to 45$. We went to check out and the cashier was EXTREMELY friendly. Unfortunately did not catch her name. She told us that the fish was beautiful, asked it we had others. We told her it was our only one ,and it was for our sister and that it was her birthday that day. She asked how old she was and asked if we had any plans for the day. We were so engaged in the conversation that we didn't realize she said our total was 25$ we paid and she said to have a wonderful rest of the day. Just so friendly. As we got home to set up the tank. We looked at the receipt and saw that she had marked everything down. Our 25$ betta was now 14$ we COULD NOT believe she did that for us. GREAT COSTUMER SERVICE!! Only wish we could've thanked her. the only downside is that I wish it came with some instructions for the betta, though we've had betta fish before it's been awhile and It died the next morning. I was very pleased when I walked into this store. I was met by friendly people and smiling faces. I was thinking about purchasing a chinchilla and proceeded to speak to an associate about care for one. Though she wasn't an expert herself she directed me to someone else in the store who was! I was very grateful for these kind girls who helped me and educated me on chinchilla care! They were just the right people in the right place at the right time. They pointed out supplies and care tips for me right in the store. I took several photos of the items so I know what to purchase in the future! I've been going to this location on a regular basis (a couple times a month) for a little over a year now. They're always pleasant though they sometimes seem short-handed, but who isn't nowadays? I don't mind waiting if they need to help other customers. I just might not go if you're in a huge rush. I usually do online orders and pick them up in-store. They always get it together quickly. One time I missed the two-hour-til-close deadline by a few minutes, but they still fulfilled it. It was unexpected and very much appreciated. I did have an issue with one employee who was getting frustrated and acting somewhat dismissive because my name wasn't coming up on the order list (it always just says like "woodruff" or something for some unknown reason). She kept saying that she didn't see my name and acting like that was that, there was nothing she could do, etc. while my order was sitting right there in a locker. I had my email with the order number and everything, but she didn't seem to care just because my name wasn't showing up on their list and was starting to get an attitude like I was either scamming her or had done something wrong on my part. Eventually another employee came and found it, so I got the order. But the fact that she was almost trying to turn me away from picking up my pet's food was weird. read more

I called to set up an appointment to get my dog groomed but they're so disorganized that I called 4 times before they picked up. The groomers weren't there because they make they're own schedule and don't have anything set up for customers to know when to call or when to come in for their pets. I ended up calling petsmart and have my appointment set for tomorrow, September 27 at 4 pm. Just cause they are so disorganized and can't answer the phone they lost customers(family and I) and money. read more

If I could leave 1 star, I would do it. I set an appt to get my puppy groomed and dropped my puppy off at 12:30 for his grooming appt.. At 4:00 I hadn't heard from Petco and called the store. After being passed to 3 different team members, I was told the groomer had a family emergency and had to leave. I was then told that the groomer was told to call each client and let them know their grooming wouldn't get done today. When I picked up my puppy, I asked to speak to the store manager bc I wanted to know why my dog was there for so long for no reason. The store manager then told me that he didn't "know to to respond to an unhappy customer" and that he didn't know what to say. I don't know if I'm more irritated about my dog being there for so long without being groomed OR that the groomer was asked to call her family while having an family emergency. Either way, I don't like how the situation was handled and was highly irritated at Petco's response. read more

The absolute worst grooming experience EVER!!!!! I have been going petco for years and recently relocated to Greenville. I brought my Bichon in for a bath and trim, and I came back and he's completely bald. To make matters worse the groomer didn't even comb him out but she shaved him. He was not matted and usually gets a trim every 4 weeks. Instead of saying she didn't know what she was doing she just looked dumb founded. The absolute worst experience EVER!!! read more

I won't be going to Petco in the future! I went Sunday morning and they were late opening. I realize things happen but this wasn't the first time! The materials I need are never in stock, the pets lived in hideous environments. Cages were pure filth, half the fish were belly up! I approached "Ed".....not friendly at all. He had a bad attitude and apparently hates his job. He behaved as if he had crawled out of a vat of cow manure. We seriously spend about $400 per month here with 3 dogs and our salt water tank. The past few times I've been here no one knows anything about salt water care. I went in tonight, mind you with my 5 week old baby, and waited by the salt water tanks. An employee passed me 4 times and never once acknowledged me. He was cleaning out dead fish so I waited for 15 mins. He then went to the turtle tank where another employee approached him and they stood joking around. I couldn't believe the lack of customer service and rude employees. The dog trainer is the only good thing this store has going for them. We will never be back and Petco just lost a huge customer. read more

This review is primarily for dog training. Dru, the trainer, is simply fabulous. My partner and I signed our two dogs up for adult training, thinking it would be a group class. When you sign up for the adult behavior class, you get a meet-and-greet session with the trainer and six classes tailored to your need. It was very nice to know that he did not just follow a standard class protocol and really tried to address our needs. We have two rescue dogs, one who just needed some behavior training and one who has aggression issues. He was able to work with both, splitting up the time we were in there, to help meet the needs for both dogs. I was not expecting our aggressive dog to make a lot of progress during the class, since these things take time to correct, but I was impressed by how much progress he did make (he growled at Dru and tried to bite him the during the meet-and-greet, but by the last class he was able to sit calmly in his lap). He made a lot of suggestions for things we should buy for them and informed us of things people buy that you don't need. He never tried to push Petco-specific items on us, which was so appreciative. The prices were surprisingly very affordable, and I wholeheartedly recommend his training services. He uses a combination of mostly positive reinforcement for behaviors and some minor correction for bad behaviors. There is definitely no dominance involved, and Dru was able to work great with our animals. As for other things, this Petco is pretty nice. It is always clean in there, and in general the staff is great and helpful. This is definitely my preferred pet superstore. read more

I recently made a trip to the Petco in Greenville South Carolina Cherrydale location off Pleasantburg Drive and customer service is wonderful there especially a gentleman named Thomas he is very informative and he acted like he honestly cared about my little dog and his problems about being such a picky eater I really wish there were more employees in retail that are as attentive as him. She's pomeranian and they used number 1/4 on her she looks like Chihuahua now and plus they cut her so unprofessionally to the point that I'm embarrassed to show her to other people. I took our goldendoodle here for a full groom today and they did a wonderful job. All of the staff in the groom salon were helpful and courteous. My dog was really matted when I brought him in and this was a difficult job, but he looks fabulous and it was very affordable. Will definitely be coming back. read more

I walked into Petco on Woodruff Rd expecting the very same service I received from the other Petco in town. We were looking at setting up an aquarium, but admittedly didn't have the knowledge to do so. We kept hearing various suggestions and advice from other stores, which alarmed us until we met the guys at this store. I have never been treated with such respect, and had no doubt that what I was being told was correct. The manager was extremely polite and had fish knowledge out the WAZOO! They refused sale of fish because we weren't ready which initially shocked me, until I realized they were genuine in wanting to help us do this right the first time. I've done this before and failed, mainly because the employees of Petsmart sold me fish the day I bought the tank. Rookie mistake. You will never find customer service like I received anywhere. We went to this store looking for a DNA kit for my dog. I asked one person who worked for one of the suppliers and she directed us to the front cashier. We approached him, his clothes were dirty and his hair unkept, we asked if the store had the kits, he said he didn't think so but he looked in one case His manager was walking towards us so he asked her and she yes they had them but they are kept in the office because the are,stolen a lot. Her attitude was very negative so that explained why everyone else was negative too. Will go back to Petsmart and will never go back to Petco again! read more
