-10000 stars. Come here to get my crickets and it is always SOOO hard to get someone to help me. I don't know where the employees hide or what they are doing. BUT MORE THAN THAT!! I bought a frog from them in 2022 who immediately started showing strange behavior (seizure like mannerisms, getting knocked on her back and unable to correct herself, among other highly unsettling things). She died less than 2 weeks after I got her. I tried to call the Petco multiple times to speak to their ordering manager (or even a regular manager) to discuss this because I had done a TON of research and thought that it was a potential problem with the breeder they got their frogs from. I tried calling for WEEKS and the manager was somehow never in. I tried emailing a big document with photos and research. Never a response. I STILL go into this Petco and see frogs with the same sores/discoloring my frog had + improper housing practices (keeping larger frogs with baby frogs who are in danger of being eaten by the larger frogs). read more

Do not bring your animals here, there are plenty of caring, professional, and knowledgeable veterinarians in the area who you can entrust to give your pet an actual thorough examination and anything else you might need. Tried to bill me $1.3k for a teeth cleaning when what you really should have prioritized was a biopsy for the large mass in his mouth. Took him to an amazing vet in Denton who did the biopsy for me and emailed me and asked me for updates, took such good care of him and luckily it was just a cyst. I recommend Dove Creek Animal Hospital or Denton Veterinary Center. read more

Took my Norfolk Terrier here to get washed and groomed. She is a VERY nervous dog, so nervous that she had an accident when the groomer went to pick her up. I have been hesitant to get her professionally groomed for this reason. I was able to book an appointment the morning of, for 3:30. I told the groomer to keep her body short, her tail and ears fluffy/long, and just make her face look cute. Mary did an incredible job!! Then when I came to pick her up she looked happy and comfortable with a cute bandana on. They even took some of the price off because my dog wouldn't let them do her nails. Very happy with Mary and the grooming department! I would give the PetVet 1 star. The receptionist was rude and I waited for 30 minutes in a waiting room even with an appointment. The only reason I'd give one star instead of none is because the intern actually tried to connect with my dog a bit, and pet her. They wanted to charge me an extra $55 for and extended medical evaluation because she had a few red bums on her tummy that made her itchy. They ended up telling me what it was anyway! Even when I didn't pay the $55. The Vet who came to talk to me about my dog was difficult to understand and wanted to give my dog 50 extra products because she was itching a bit. I do not recommend this place for your vet needs. read more

I hv two issues with Petco in this review. First, their 30 day return policy. I bought a no-bark machine, couldn't use it. When I took it back it was 34 days past date of purchase. Even with the receipt I was told NO RETURNS, not even store credit and this was from the manager. Ok, not the stores fault...same day I am buying food. I find several bags of Canadae expired and easy to find cuz it's in the old bag with a coupon stuck on it. I give a couple to the cashier and tell him there's more, he says he'll take care of it. The manager was here at this time. Next time I go in, same thing but this time I take 5 bags up and give them to the asst mgr. Sarah. She seemed annoyed with me and said she'd take care of it. So yesterday, prob a month after my first visit, I go in and head straight for the Canadae. I loaded up all the bags I could reach and took them to the register. I asked Sarah if she remembered me. She said yes and that they had removed all the bags last time I was in. Well, if that were true, why did I just remove a cart full off your shelf? Now there were bags from 2021 and bags that expired in March and April 2022. I find this store, and the Petco return policy, to not be very customer friendly. Not sure what happened to the good grooming staff that was there a few months ago, but the current staff is terrible. I hadn't been in a bit and decided to start again. First visit was decent. Got the tip request and bill shoved at me before I even saw my dogs, fine it's expected. I went back three weeks later and apparently my dogs were now matted and in terrible condition. I should have caught on the first visit when every upgrade under the sun was shoved at me along with their version of a membership and I declined. Second visit declined all upgrades and my dogs according to them required all kinds of bullshit. I walked out and handled it myself. Tried a third time due to my groomer being booked. Took one dog, and again a mat behind the ear is apparently matting all over. If you can't do your job or you need to pump up sales just raise the price to the needed revenue amount. Don't jerk me around with nonsense. read more

This is the nicest Petco location I've been to. It's a nice, fresh building, they have lot's of variety of pet supplies, toys and everything in between. The service from the people working here and the willingness to help is far better than I've experienced at any other pet store. They have groomers onsite as you would expect and also a training area. We have been getting training for our two puppies with the trainer Amy who's really knowledgable, good at coming up with different ways to get the dogs to learn tricks and she's easy to talk to. They have quite a few adoption events here each month as well. read more

I have been taking my dog here for several months. She is a mixed breed that we shave. This past visit I was up charged for shave, brush out, scissor for an additional $10. I asked why this charge as I have never been charged this before and they said yes, it's customary. Since I paid for a bath with Haircut Long hair (which she does not have long hair and have not been charged this higher rate either), I kept questioning what additional service this was supposed to include. I never got a good answer. It's sad because I like the groomer but I most likely will not go back. Bathing and using clippers on my dog (which had just been there a few weeks prior, cost me $80. Vetco at Petco in Highland Village, Texas. Appointment was at 10:30. Arrived on time and was taken back to a room. Proceeded to wait there for 50 minutes for them to get my cat's prior records and for the vet to come in. When I called to talk about this the "manager" made excuses saying they tried to get the records before (great, but nobody updated me on that) and that the wait "happens a lot". So the vet finally comes in and the first words out of his mouth are "So I hear you don't take care of your cat?" I said "Excuse me?" He replied with "I'm not trying to give you a hard time, but I am. How do you not take care of this cat enough to get him in for shots?" As this was my parent's (previously my brother's) cat I was just helping out. I looked at him in disbelief. I told him I had been busy, I don't pay for the cat's medical needs, and I work. He asked where I worked which was irrelevant and I told him as much. The vet proceeded to give my cat an exam....and by that I mean he did a lot of shrugging, said I don't know and made statements about the cat that were untrue. He got flustered when corrected. He proceeded to suggest that maybe the cat had a musty odor because he had poop stuck to his butt after sniffing his a$$. A real Sherlock over here. I corrected him again and said the room he spends most of his time in has a musty odor, not the cat. He decided to do a further exam (not telling me it would be an additional $40). When he came back in the room he told me he hoped what he did worked and if not, come back. Which, you know, was exactly the kind of medical expertise I was looking for. He then told me to tell my parents what he said and added "I'm sure you just want to get back to playing on your phone and having a good time with friends." Again I was left dumbfounded. I just shook my head and told him to wrap it up so that I could get out of there. Went to check out and the vet tech who had been in the room just shrugged me off when I told her how unprofessional I thought everything was. Reached out to Petco who told me to contact Vetco because they just rent the space out to them. Contacted the aforementioned "manager" who made excuses and told me that the "church-going" vet tech said she apologized to me and wouldn't lie. She didn't, but okay. She offered me water after about 40 minutes and told me she was going to weigh the cat while I waited. The manager talked over me and got very rude and defensive when I pointed out his excuses. He said that the vet was not a regular vet of theirs and just a temporary one. I said "So? Aren't you still responsible for who you bring in there?". He offered for me to come back and have another one of their quacks look at the cat and needless to say this was not an enticing offer. I mentioned that I told the vet tech not to bother following up today to check on the cat because we would not be back, and he said "Ma'am I had a lot to do before calling you back today. I've been out for three days." Good for you Ethan. Wasn't even talking about you calling me, but by this point I knew he was hearing only what he wanted. This person's superior is meant to be calling me back, but I will not be holding my breath. I'd say you get what you pay for, but I'm not even sure that is true in this situation. read more

I called early on Sunday 8/5 just to see if they had an opening and if they didint was planning on booking for 8/8. They had an opening. Dropped my dog off looking disheveled and got her back looking fantastic!! This place does a fantastic job and the customer service is great! Keep up the great work! read more

Omg I'm never using this place again. They keep pushing to do the booster vacs, a fecal test, heart worm testing and I was like look I'm just here for the rabies test. Her normal vet does everything else but they can't get me in before her rabies is due so that's why I'm here. And they still keep pushing to do more than just rabies and finally I was like look I just need her rabies vaccine. That's it. And on top of that when I booked online the only slots were 3 or 3:15 and she had the audacity to say they book in half hour increments and I was like well that was the slot your website had so that's what I booked. And even more on top of that they take her in the treatment area instead of doing the exam in the room. I'm 90% sure they sedated her based on how she behaved when she got home (I know it wasn't a shot reaction cause she's never reacted to it before). The doctor was completely unprofessional in her approach making me seem like I don't take care of my cat simply because I didn't do all the testing she was pushing. The only reason we were there is because our regular vet didn't have an opening for her before her shot expired. That is it. She gets regular vet care just not from a second rate minuet clinic for pets. read more

This store has easy parking with a big lot that is not congested. The store is clean and well organized. The employees are very helpful both around the store and at the checkout. They handle returns and exchanges very well. We have a picky kitty and sometimes he likes a food until we buy a bunch of it and then he refused to eat it anymore and we've never had a problem returning the foods he begins to refuse. Their PALS program is well worth carrying one extra card on your keychain for. They surprise us with $5 coupons often. This location usually has at least one rescue bunny looking for a home. The company refuses to sell bunnies because so many are purchased around easter time and then abandoned as they start to grow up, so they rescue them and adopt them out instead. Pets are welcome on a leash. This Petco has groomers. read more

Took my two dogs to VetCo for their annual check up. The vet techs could not be nicer. I would definitely come back as I dealt primarily with the techs and are they were wonderful!!!! The vet who came in, (in fact all of their vets are temps) she had no "personality" (did not even say hello and introduce herself- how hard is that?) but she seemed quite smart. VetCo are trying to hire a full time vet. VetCo needs to spend their money and get a full time vet who is vested in the store. read more

If I could give this place a negative 5, I would. Our Bichon has been coming here for the past 4-6 months for a monthly grooming since his normal groomer is always booked solid and doesn't fit our schedule ( we should have made it fit). Get gets the full grooming treatement (bath, cut, brushing, and we pay extra for the extra brushing). Quite a few times they've trimmed his fur when we told them not to, wasn't really that big of a deal. We finally got an opening with our groomer and lo and behold! Gizmo had to be completely shaved off (in winter season still) because his fur was so matted that it was pulling on his skin! After shelling out hundreds of dollars (which we don't mind) to make sure our dog is taken care of, this is what we get. A lazy, short-cut, grooming service. Now we have another 6 months before our Bichon's fur grows long and fluffy again. read more

Second time the grooming department has lost my dogs collar and they always want to blame me! It was a $20 along with engraved tag. They said they don't keep collars now because of Covid and she said check my car. This morning attendant handed me the harness and leash but no collar and I thought that was little strange but I went with it . This is by far one of the best pet stores out there. I've bought my guinea pig here and she's amazing and super sweet. The man who helped me adopt her was super nice and helpful. I only have one complaint: most pet stores do this--but most other pet stores have much bigger mistakes than this one--they put the beta fish in a small, clear container and place that container on a shelf with a bunch of other betas. I feel that this is boarder-line abuse of these poor creatures. My heart hearts when I see that. Normally half the Betas are dead or dying. I hate seeing those poor fish struggle for their lives. read more

We are new to north Texas and took our 1.5 year old Shihpoo for her first grooming appointment at Petco. What a wonderful day experience - for us and our fur baby! Sarah was her groomer and did an amazing job! When we arrived for check-in, she explained all of our options and talked about what might be best for our pup. She called promptly when she was finished to let us know we could pick up E. She took time to tell us how things went during the appointment and seemed genuinely caring toward us and our sweet girl. We are so thankful to find such a clean, professional, and caring place to take our dog to be groomed. We will definitely be using Petco again and requesting Sarah to be our groomer!
