This is for the groomers- all of them. Our little Beau is a special kind of pup that loves everyone, until it's at a groomers or vet. I can leave him there with confidence that he is well looked after. I know this because he gets excited as we walk up to the doors and greets them like family. Petco as a whole corporation in general do NOT treat the animals they sell as the living, breathing, emotional, sentient beings that they are. They are just like any other product in all of my experiences. I feel torn because I want to buy every animal there and give them a clean, healthy, loving home where they are not ignored, neglected, and uncared for. BUT, on the other hand, I don't want to support these massive corporations that sell animals like they are just inanimate objects on a shelf. Please don't just take my word for it. Do a little research and you will find some horrific stories from past & current employees and even pictures & videos of how they treat those sweet little cats, dogs, bunnies, reptiles, fish, and even the poor hermit crabs that they throw around, leave them in broken shells, or shells way too small for them. It's just so sad. Their product selection is usually fairly good and most of the workers are friendly enough, but personally I can't ignore what I have seen, read (in independent reviews) and what I know about this business. And btw, the other very large pet stores that are similar to Petco, are pretty much exactly the same so do your research and choose for yourself. Be an informed consumer. Adopt a rescue animal from a charity and not a corporation that is only trying to make the next dollar. I'm sorry to be so negative--i usually don't do this, but if you don't speak up for the voiceless, then you're basically condoning their victimization. read more

Never again will I go to this pet store. They aren't clean. The workers are not very friendly at all either. I went in today just to get 2 angle fish I was there 35-40 min before they closed to get them. The lady I walked up to to ask for help had an attitude right off the bat saying "she cant do it and she gotta get the girl at the register to do it. " When keep in mind the girl I asked wasn't doing anything atm. Then after she goes to ask the other girl they come and tell me that they can't sell me any fish today after I drove 45 min just to get to the store and they were till open for another 30-40 min there was no reason I shouldn't have been able to get my fish. But the other one across town I went to that one had 10 min before they closed and they happily and kindly gave me my 2 fish. Bottom line I wouldn't go to pet co. Very unprofessional!! read more

All the dog and cat stuff is fine but a lot of their more exotic animals are being severely mistreated. That's more of a petco in general problem though not this specific store. First of all the hermit crabs only had painted shells to change in (hermit crabs aren't supposed to have painted shells they're toxic to them) and the tank was way too small for even one hermit. I just feel like if you're gonna be selling animals you could at least treat them right. read more

Petco won't be my go to stop anymore. It smells horribly in there. Please mop. Bleach. Whatever needs to be done. I just came in to get an item for my dog. I'm all about customer service. Chris, sales associate #13 was on the store phone with another customer during the entire transaction. There's not a problem multitasking at all, but when you have a customer in your line, you at least say hello. No hello was given. No total was even given. He continued raving about how the product that he was talking about was a popular one- COMPLETELY ignoring me. I stood there for a Minute just to see if he would even try to tell me my total or to direct me to swipe my card. Nothing. I walked over and swiped my card. Then he reached over and tapped a button and I swiped again. Still not acknowledging me. And then the way he handed me my receipt, I was NOT appreciative of that either. He needs to work on customer service. I will not be back, and I hope that Petco will get a little better at choosing who represents their company at the front ! read more

I went to this Petco to get some dog food. That should be simple right? It wasn't. I got my cart, but had a hard time getting around with the zillions of pallets of items they had that needed to be put on the shelves. These pallets were blocking areas, and I had to go past aisles and turn around to get to the dog food aisle. When I got to the aisle I needed, I felt claustrophobic because the aisles were so narrow. I have been in several pet stores, but this by far, had the worse smell to it. It sort of smelled like wet dog mixed with pee. They can at least mop the floors more with some sort of disinfectant. When I got to the checkout, I was treated poorly. Actually it was probably the WORST checkout experience I have ever had. The checker told me the price and I proceeded to move up my cart to the machine to swipe my card. In doing so, I took about 2 steps. The patron behind me put her stuff up on the counter and proceeded to speak to the cashier about needing to return something and the checker started asking her if she wanted another item, how she wanted the money back, etc...WHILE I was still trying to PAY. I call that horrible customer service. I got out of that place, but I am seriously thinking of going back to return my dog food and going to Petsmart instead. I won't be going back to buy anything from them again. read more

Like the previous review, there isn't a lot of room to get around. It's packed tight. BUT, they seem to have everything you need.

LIARS!! Worst customer service ever! I am so disgusted with this store, I won't ever go back. I placed a buy online pick up in store order during Black Friday. The store is 40 minutes from my home so I only go to Hot Springs maybe once a week. After 4 days, I received an email sent at 6pm telling me that if I didn't pick up my order they were cancelling it that day. The next morning, I contacted customer service via online chat, they told me not to worry, my order was still there and just call the store to double check. So, I called the store. They said my order was still there and it was fine if I wanted to pick it up the next day. So the next day, I drive 40 minutes to the store only to have them tell me they returned it. They said I could reorder but they hadn't returned my money. They told me it would take 5-7 days to process my return. Funny, they couldn't even give me 5-7 days to pick it up. I will never use them again since apparently it is store policy to lie to customers just to get them there but not honor any agreements. Be ware!!! read more

The most impressive thing here is their consistency with adopting animals out on the weekends. Please do not use their grooming services, the employees are not gentle and very friendly and actually caused my dog to be anxious and depressed which cost me an additional vet bill to figure out what was wrong with him. read more

Ms. Mary does a fantastic grooming job with our Sadie! She not only makes her look beautiful each time she is groomed...she also loves on her like she is her own while she is in her care! That means the world to us! Our Sadie is a cock-a-poo breed...which means high energy and high anxiety when she is away from home. She wants all of Ms. Mary's attention while she is there and I know it takes a lot of patience to work with her. Ms. Mary has always made us feel more comfortable leaving our somewhat challenging fur baby with her! We have taken her to other groomers in town and while they were nice we always felt like they dreaded seeing us coming...but not Ms. Mary! Terrible grooming experience. We dropped our Shi-Tzu off with one groomer, but when we picked him up, some other person was cutting him. (Not what we were told) Uneven cut, face was not done at all. His tail, which is a trademark of the breed, was shaved to within about a quarter inch of the tip. A few wispy long hairs were left. They gave me a 10% discount, which amounted to about five bucks off an already overpriced grooming. Please do not take your dog here for any reason. read more

Found out today that their employees have been spreading false rumors about me abusing fish behind my back. One of them just plain hates me and was all too happy to let me know I've been the talk of the town for awhile. I was mortified. I've been nothing but nice to her and after waiting over 30 minutes for her to stop ignoring me the first thing she said to me was rude and personal. Of course there was supposedly no manager there. They should know I don't "keep buying fish to go in a 2 gallon tank", after all the times I'd been back for plants, test kits etc. and made conversation about my *20 gallon tank* they KNOW I do not abuse fish nor do I keep them in a 2 gallon! And gossiping about your customers is (1) beyond unprofessional, even without the added factors of (2) I've ruled out any possibility of a misunderstanding, it was an intentional lie and (3) using abuse as the subject of the gossip, you could have just called me fat or ugly but instead you targeted my character! I won't be back. Ever. read more

I took my dog (he is a pom) to Petco to be groomed, they told me it would take about 4 hrs. I am not sure how long it is suppose to take. I do know that my regular dog groomer can bath him, dry his hair (which is long) cut his hair and trim his nails in less than 45 min. But after 4 hours I called back to see if he was ready and they told me it would be another 2 1/2 hrs. I went to Petco to see what the problem was and found they had not even started on my dog. I told them to bring him out and we would cancel for that day. When they brought him out he was so thirsty he drank almost a 1/2 pint of water. His breathing was noise and labored. This worried me because he does have throat problems and they were advised of this before I left him with them. Please for your pets safety and your sanity do not take your pet to Petco. Mary E. Terrible customer service. Went to buy some saltwater fish but only two employees on sales floor. After waiting for fifteen minutes I walked to the front and asked a younger guy named Chris if I could get some help with the fish. Chris acted very put out and never said a word. He caught the fish and took forever to bag them as if he were working in slow motion. He carried the bag of fish to the register, slapped the price sheet on the counter and walked off. Still hadn't said a word to me. The person who checked me out was very nice. I came very close to telling Chris to forget the fish and I would save my money and go elsewhere, all because of his attitude like he had much more important things to do. It's bad enough in this store trying to get someone to wait on you, then having to put up with their attitude. read more

I have found this store to be very helpful. The grooming salon is clean and the groomers are friendly to me and kind to my dogs.
