My English Bulldog, Dozer, visited the grooming salon in the Lynnwood, WA Petco store today. I arrived early to pick him up from his appointment where I saw Dozer through the glass and took a couple photos of him and then witnessed his groomer stepped away and left him unattended where he fell off the grooming table. Since I had my phone out taking photos of him, I was able to capture the moment he fell off. He weighs 50lbs and was approximately 4-5 feet off the ground on a small grooming table and only had a small chain around his neck connecting him to the table. This is unacceptable behavior and I can only imagine that if this irresponsible pet treatment is happening where pet owners and shoppers are able to see that there is far worse treatment occurring in the back of the salon where the majority of the grooming occurs. I immediately alerted the grooming staff of what I saw (along with the photos I had taken) and they were immediately apologetic but also quick to say that it is against their policy to leave a dog unattended and that they were right next to dozer the entire time even though I had photos to prove this was not the case. I am an avid Petco shopper and spend approximately $150 a month at Petco on Dozer's food, treats, grooming, teeth cleaning, collars, toys, etc but will not spend a dollar there again. read more

Dropped off my 18 lb dog for just a bath this morning and when I went to pay they had added an extra $5.99 on top of the $ 39.00 charge I had agreed to. Okay, I usually always come to this location for crickets to feed to my Pink toe tarantula. Today I went in as usual and as always decided to walk around and look at the hamsters, fish and tarantulas etc. I noticed that the pink toe tarantula that they currently have was having troubles climbing up and just fall and make itself into a ball and start going crazy as if one of its legs had been broken or it was stuck in itself. Any how when I finally go and ask for my crickets I mention to them that they should keep an eye and if the pink toe was okay? He processed to roll his eyes and say "uhhhh i don't know, do you want someone too look at it" I said yes. Waited around and nothing or no one took a look at it. We have come into this store multiple times to get toys and treats for our fur babies and we always get great customer service. The ladies who helped me tonight explained where my donation was going and why any money given at all helps a lot. They didn't have to take the time and explain it to me, but they wanted to make sure I knew the donation was going to help animals in need. I appreciated them telling me that and I could tell they both had a passion for animals. The store is a little expensive, but I guess having pets can add up quickly. read more

My dog looks like a monster. I can't even walk her, everyone is staring at her. Last week, I took my dog there. They started to give her a haircut but stopped at her head. They said her ear was a "little red" so they stopped and called me to pick her up. She looked HORRIBLE!!! I emailed and called several times but Tiffany P. ( the person in charge) NEVER replied to my emails or calls. I am so disappointed!!! They genuinely don't care! My dog is healthy, without any problems, so we are still shocked that they did this. I have been taking my dogs to Petco for grooming for almost 4 years now. I've never had a bad experience! They are so sweet to my boys, and my boys get so excited every time we walk in the door. Anthony is absolutely amazing. I love that you can see them grooming your dog, so you know they are being well taken care of. It's so great that you can tell them exactly what you want and that's exactly what you get. I've heard so many stories about people going to random places asking for one thing, and their dog comes out looking terrible... Extremely unprofessional and rude grooming staff and management. I would give no stars but have to in order to place the review. A groomer (was so upset that even didn't ask her name) started rudely crumple my cocker spaniel's ears just from the beginning of the appointment. Needless to say my dog was unhappy of that. Then she went hysterical that the dog is aggressive and will bite her. For sure, this is old (11 years) extremely friendly and sweet small dog who has been groomed every few months and never had any problems with groomers. Two managers (male and female, don't know their names too) rudely told me to leave the store when I advised them to fire this groomer and find more professional staff. Absolutely disgusting place. If I could give ZERO stars with a huge warning to NOT take ur dog to Petco Grooming Salon in Lynnwood, I would! Keep in mind all you 5-Star reviewers...what you dont see won't hurt you...but it hurts your dog. The last time we took our dogs there, I saw with my own eyes, my dog being hung from the grooming table. The groomer (KORISSA) leisurely walked all the way around the other side to assist my dog back up on the table. The lady I was talking too outside of the grooming salon, let out a loud gasp and jumped behind the pole, yelling I CANNOT WATCH THIS! I did not freak out or make a scene because I had my other dog already with me and it might have upset him even more than he already was, and I did not want to risk him reacting to my terror cause lord knows what happened to him that I did not get to witness. And more importantly have my dog being groomed at the time freak out and jump off the table again. Thankfully both my dogs came out of it just fine. It could have snapped my dogs neck or crushed their throat. So I called Corporate and filed a formal complaint however they did not even have the audacity to call me back and apologize to me for what happened. Petco has lost a long time customer, not only from grooming but purchasing anything from them ever again. I have also notified the dog community I associate with and they all now refuse to use Petco groomers. If you love your dog, I urge you, be mindful of who is grooming your dog, stay and watch them perform the service and be there to assist the groomer if needed. Not your job but if you care about your dog...you will! The horrific things you read about sometimes DO happen, it happened to me. Please do not let it happen to you. read more

This pertains to their reptile department and their VERY helpful and knowledgeable staff. I bought my healthy ball python almost two months ago, along with the aquarium kit. Most of the other ball pythons were shedding, so I knew mine would soon be too. After his shed, I tried feeding him thawed, dead mice because that's what petco does. After two failed attempts, I was beginning to worry if I had to take him to the vet. The manager Derek first helped me out by giving me some tips and a bag of mouse bedding to "toss" the thawed mouse so it smelled more appealing. That didn't work. I went back today and talked with the assistant manager and he agreed that a live mouse was the way to go since my snake is being fickle. Within 3 minutes of plopping the mouse in my snake's feeding cage, he latched on happily and began eating. A big THANK YOU to the generosity of these managers, I didn't have to pay for the mouse (but I will for the foreseeable future mice) and now my snake and I are as happy as can be. read more

This review is for Pellar at Petco Grooming. Our family dog, Bud(weiser), can be quite an asshole. A certain "someone" didn't train him well when he was a pup (okay, that someone might've been me), so he grew up thinking he could get away with anything. Whenever we take Bud to get his haircut or to get a bath, we always try to get an appointment with Pellar. At first we just so happened to always be taking him in on the weekends, and Pellar would always be there. After just a couple visits, she knew him by name (I assume this is because he was being such a diva during the grooming session). We'd never seen anyone look so excited to see Bud! We immediately felt like Bud was in good hands. He tends to get really anxious whenever he gets a bath (don't all dogs?) and when he's anxious, he tends to pee excessively... Just one of his delightful little quirks. Anyway, he always comes back from his grooming session looking like a handsome little fox with the softest, fluffiest hair (he's a short-haired Pomeranian) and smelling like vanilla and oatmeal. Bud has problematic skin that needs to be handled delicately and Pellar & team have always been very understanding of it. Bud has been a loyal customer of Pellar and Petco Grooming for a few years now, and although I feel that the prices should be slightly more affordable (even compared to other independent places, it seems that Petco overcharges... or maybe for certain breeds), we're always very happy with the results. My boyfriend and I traveled to Seattle to adopt a greyhound this last weekend. Cortny P was able to breakaway after her grooming to give us some great suggestions on food/treats and care for our new family member once we got home as the shelter gave us some supplies. I bring my chihuahuas here - the two I have now and the previous cranky old man chi who almost reached 17. I have nothing but good things to say. They are always kind to my dogs - and kind to my 78 year old mother who is often the one picking them up or or delivering them. When my dad's schnauzer was alive - took him here too - and again - they were amazing to him and dad. Kinda wish they could have groomed dad too.... probably would have gotten a better haircut. Many years ago I had a small problem - management and the groomer were very quick to address my concerns, and they followed up with me. I have a very squiggly, wiggly terri-poo. He looks like an Ewok! It is very hard to get him groomed properly... many places just buzz him clean and don't think about character. Natasha takes care of my boy! He is cut perfectly, nails perfectly cut, and absolutely gorgeous. I literally get stopped 3 or 4 times in the store by people wanting to know what type of dog he is, if his hair grows that way, etc. Natasha always makes sure to get him in, even if slightly after her hours. This is the worst Petco I have been too. Their reptile department is dismal and severely lacks product knowledge. I have seen a dead corn snake in the display and reported to the staff who supposedly checked them that morning, which is sad because it was extremely emaciated. And I'm sorry for the person who got the ball python without prior research, balls are notoriously picky eaters. They keep their leopard geckos on sand which can cause eye issues and impaction, especially for curious babies. I was nearby today and out of feeders so I thought I'd give them one more chance, their prepacked crickets were being sold as '36' but there were barely 20. And today is March 4th and their disgusting mealworm fridge has meal worms dated 1/31. Even if they're still alive they're severely malnourished and would not provide nutrients to anything you feed them to. I wasn't going to take my chances asking them to bag crickets for me, who knows what condition they're kept in. read more

I have a shitzu Maltese mix (gizmo) and a pure bred shitzu (Bennie). I took them in for a grooming. I told them to keep gizmos Mohawk since he had one that traveled from his head to his tail. When I went to pick them up, gizmos Mohawk was gone and he had a tiny itty bitty one on his head. Bennie had been licking his feet a lot, so I inspected his nails. They were way to short! Some of his kwiks were sticking out past the nails! And some are grazed. I'm not very happy about his little nails being hurt. I don't care too much if they receive ugly haircuts but it makes me upset when they have been hurt. read more

This review is for the Vetco service at this Petco location. I went in to get the second round of shots for my kitten. After waiting in the car for 40 minutes because they claim they did not receive my arrival text (precautions due to covid), I finally saw the vet almost an hour later than my scheduled appt time. I was asked three different times (twice by tech and once by the vet) where I got my cat from and if he was owned prior to me having him, all because he had litter with a fuzz in it stuck on the outer edge of his nostril. They insisted it was a suture from a procedure. Each time they came out, I had to explain that he's 3 months old and plays in his litter box all the time and that it wasn't there yesterday. The litter gets stuck on his nose and it comes right off, I even told them how I wipe it off. I wipe his nose daily after I catch him playing in his box, but ran out today without doing so. Big mistake on my part as they clearly did not believe me. I was scolded by the vet in front of other customers waiting to be seen. It was so embarrassing and made me look and feel that I was a bad pet owner. Don't you think I would know if my cat had a suture hanging from his nose due to a procedure? And don't you think I would tell them that or be concerned? It was a grain of litter! I question the experience of the vet who did not try to get it off even after I told him and could not tell the difference, it was pretty obvious to me. I got home, wiped over his nose with a wet cotton pad, and gone...because it was litter... I will say, the Petco employees there were very nice and helpful and made my poor experience at the Vetco much better! read more

I accidentally went to the wrong petco which was totally my bad. Knowing I'd be late I tried to call and they wouldn't answer. I rushed there only 9 minutes late and I was expecting for the possibility of being turned away because I was late but stayed optimistic. The groomer had me wait 10-15 mins to even come out and then rudely told me we'd have to reschedule. Okay cool I expected that. I kindly asked if they could cut her nails. Keep in mind I have a very excited but loving 1.5 year old golden retriever. They looked at my dog then rudely said "is she even gonna be okay with that?" I said yes? Then decided to say forget it and walk out. Like if you can't handle a hyper dog why would you be a pet groomer? Also why is 10 minutes late a crazy thing when I really tried to contact so I wouldn't waste my time. read more

I bring my dog(puppy is almost ready to join) in once a month to see Nathan! He is soooo good with her! She isn't the biggest fan of the bath & brush thing, but always is happy to see him! So that is a bonus! He is always done at least a half hour before the suggested time too! Another bonus! I will continue coming here for that reason...even if their prices did recently jump(still reasonable though)! But they can't help that...it's a corporate thing! :) I do however do a lot of shopping in the store! They have a good selection on local & grain/corn/soy free treats! I used to buy ALL my dog food from here but switched to Orijen & they don't carry it! But for being a box store they carry pretty decent brands! I would like to see less Made in China toys. I should have written this before, and save dog owners, and most important, their pets, a bitter experience. I walked inside this Petco and looked towards the grooming salon where a woman was dealing with a black puffy dog. The next thing I saw made me livid. This woman started BEATING the dog, trying to get it to do what she wanted. Another employee next to her saw this and did not intervene. Apparently the dog bit her either before or after she started beating him. This woman is in charge for the care and safety of those dogs and she beat the dog again. I immediately contacted a Petco employee and told them about the incident. They said they'd escalate it. As a store they are okay, but under any circumstances would I take my dog to be groomed there. read more

Took our Pom mix for grooming today. McKenzie did an awesome job. Previous cuts (elsewhere) had been choppy and uneven. The whole thing is smooth and his tail was trimmed perfectly - not too short. She was pleasant and friendly; really seemed to love dogs and have a great relationship with them. This review can probably double as a note to self about being more assertive. I came into the salon with very specific instructions not to cut too much around the eyes, because I really like the fluff around my puppy's snout, but somehow the groomer decided to completely SHAVE the top half of her snout off saying that it was "matted" from residual tears. I didn't have the heart to say how disappointed I was in her cut. I even showed her pictures at the beginning of what I did NOT want her face to look like. Upon returning to pick up my pup, they had left her in the back in one of the crates and she was screaming her little heart out :( and they took their sweet time bringing her out. I appreciate the check in process. The time it took for some one to greet Gigi and me was right on. The texting when Gigi was ready for pick up and the check out experience was great. I no longer have to get the paperwork from the groomer then go to check out then come back to pick up my dog. Everything was taken care of at the groping department. Now that Pelar is gone we will never go back. We were asked what time we wanted to pick up our dog and we gave them a two hour window, more time than Pelar used to take. When we went to pick up our dog, we were charged for "express service" which had never been explained to us. Two hours is NOT express. When we complained we were told that we should have been being charged that all allong. After going there for grooming and caring for 4 dogs and a turtle for 15 years, we will never go back. We go to Mud Bay and to Ash Way Pet Supply for grooming. They charge the same price, do a great job and get her in and out in less than an hour. No "express service fee." This Petco is my current local Petco. I have always liked going into Pedco's for some of the supplies I need for my pets, especially my fish tanks, but sometimes for dog items as well. The staff is usually pretty knowledgeable and friendly which is always nice to have. Last time I was in was to get tank cleaners for one of my peaceful freshwater tanks. The associate helping was very knowledgeable about the difference between plecos, shrimp, snails, etc. I ended up getting two Japanese Algae Eaters, a more hearty shrimp. I intend to come get a few more in a couple of weeks as they are exactly what I needed and they are worth the price imo. I appreciated the knowledge that the associate had and the honesty about his fish and their strengths and weaknesses. Additionally, anytime I come in for my dogs I usually find what I need (except the food that they require due to my puggle's extreme allergies - they really should look into higher quality foods like Taste of the Wild). I've gotten collars, leashes, treats, grooming supplies, etc from this location and I am always impressed with the quality of items in the store. Overall I am impressed with this Petco, only lost one star due to the lacking of grain free healthy options for dog foods. Again, I highly recommend looking at dog food advisor and seeing which foods are 4 and 5 star foods so you can improve your food options. Other than that, great job! read more
