I took my dog there for a walked in nail trim service yesterday. And they refused the service because they said his rabies record was not in the printed form. We have never had any problems with his records. We use the same records for boarding and grooming even when we're traveling. I asked them to show me the policy but they refused to do so. Be careful using vetco services. They told me it would be $134.00 to get my kitten looked at & vaccinated. When I went to pay I was told I needed to be a member of vital care premier for that & was charged over $180.00. I felt very misled, I won't be using them ever again. can't find. I can't get her cut until I get the Rabies number. I would have thus but she also lost her collar. Now again I call and they said now they can't find her in the system. I'm on the CP and looking at all her info. The info there only has her info in their CP like name. Email. Phone etc. I call again and they said great that is all they needed then tell me they can't find any of this in their files. I tell them I'm looking at it and they insist they can't find it. If you try to buy tropical fish here, prepare for an inquisition. Employees ask all kind of questions and talk down to customers. Even when you tell them you have been experienced with aquariums for years, your answers are never good enough. Today a female employee gave me a hard time about buying two Glo-fish tetras at $10.99 each, telling me I needed to buy at least three. Despite the fact that they only had two in the color that I wanted and also that it's insulting to have her decide my budget. The time before that the employee admitted she had no knowledge of fish whatsoever but still questioned the answers I gave her. Today I left making no purchase or any future purchase. It's one thing to train employees to help customers, another to have them judge and deny customers. read more

While I understand it is hard to find employees. I find it fascinating the pay counter is not present at all times. I waited 10 minutes to check out and when I told manager he lacked empathy as I had other appointments to go to but more important who is minding the stores valuables. I probably was not speaking to a manager either. Also only one groomer visible as the other sat in back talking on cell phone and 3 people waiting at counter with no one there to help. This all happened yesterday so I said maybe I just was not seeing it all right .So today I tried again. My findings ....Store needs major upgrade on customer service as once again tried trcalling at 9:05 am and was asked to leave message. I understand at times it's hard to answer the phone but this was when store opened. Called back at 10 and the same result. Went in this past weekend to do an exchange. The cashier (Lexi?) was rude and unfriendly the entire time. When I first walked up to her, I smiled and she just looked at my items. I let her know I wanted to exchange collars and we went about it. I asked about the pet adoption, is that today? She said "yea", I responded with "that's why I see all the cute puppies" and she didn't respond. The price changed on the new one, I asked why, her response was "because ones bigger" and nothing else. When she went to give me my receipt and item, she handed it to me, no "thank you, have a good day.. etc" After I took it, I said "well, thank you" and her response was "have a good day". Her attitude was very short, lacked eye contact and made me feel like I was inconveniencing her. Im not sure what the issue was if she was having a bad day or what, but safe to say I'll drive the 30 mins to Petsmart instead. read more

We went into the store with the intent to buy a fish today, unfortunately the lady working informed us that we are not aloud to buy a fish because we are 17 and you must be 18. Luckily my friends boyfriend came in also wanting to buy fish but we were told that he can't buy fish for us and won't let us buy any without a parents or guardian even though her boyfriend is 19 and able to buy it himself and the fish for himself. She was very rude and wouldn't listen to the fact that he wanted to buy it for himself and that he was 18+, our experience was very bad. very disappointed. read more

Well talk about taking the fun out of Christmas with your pet. I saw the advertisement on TV to get your pets photo with Santa at Petco for FREE. I got my pet and we went to the Petco in Middletown Delaware. On the door the sign read "Free photo of your pet with Santa $9.95 donation. I got in line to take the photo; the photographer asked if I had my receipt. I said for what? He said I had to pay $9.95 before the photo was to be taken. I said " It's for free", he said "no its with a $9.95 donation. You tell me; I feel this is fraudulent. I donate a lot of time and money to many organizations including animal rescue. I did not appreciate being forced to "donate" at Petco especially when it was advertised for FREE! read more

This is THE worst pet store I've been in! The employees are dead beats and the manager should not be in customer service! I went to return something that I had purchased at a Pet Co. in PA. I let the employee know that tax was added so be sure to include that into the refund (in DE we do not have sales tax). She proceeded to tell me she did not think that this store does that, returns tax that was paid. WHAT??? So she paged the manager to find out. While he was training her to return the tax this gal just grumbled through the entire process about how much of a pain it was to return an item that had tax added to it. So, once the transaction was complete, which took a bit, because this lady was being trained to do this type of return, I quietly went to the manager and expressed the fact that 1. His employee should have known you return tax, 2. That I did not appreciate her complaining in front of me about having to do the transaction because it was a pain. 3. I did not like having to wait while his employee got trained, but I stood there without complaint. In which he responded with an utmost ridiculous reply!!! RUDE! Does not know how to treat disgruntled customers! Will never shop there again. I will drive 30 minutes up the road to the Pet Smart than shop in this Pet Co. read more

I have been taking my dog(pug) to the Middletown, DE Petco for about six months now, and have had nothing but excellent experiences there! Coming off of 10+ years of using a mobile groomer who took exceptional care of my previous dog, I was very nervous to try something different and out of my norm. I called and asked MANY questions, and was recommended Heather as my grooming specialist. She has a love for pugs, as her family has owned several, and so she is well adept at how to care for them and groom them. She recommended a late appointment so my dog would be less anxious since there wouldn't be as many (if any) other dogs there barking. Heather greeted us with a smile, and immediately showed my dog some love and attention to make him comfortable with her. You could tell she genuinely loves dogs, and so that made me less nervous. I wasn't sure how my dog would handle this new "scene", so I stayed in the local area just in case any issues should arise. Let me say....I was impressed! Heather kept me aprised of how he was doing and when he would be done, and even sat with him in the grooming area until I picked him up! She is so kind and courteous, and goes the extra mile to satisfy the customer AND make the dog happy! I recently brought him in for just a nail trimming, and she still showed him lots of love and attention and treated him like a King, even though it was just a simple service! The service prices here are more than reasonable, and I have yet to meet any groomers here who have been anything less than polite, courteous and knowledgeable. We have been to this Petco several times now, and each time was equally as good as the time before. I highly recommend trying this Petco for your furry family member's grooming needs! read more

Employees are awful. More in particular whoever the balding guy is, Jason, and Desiree? I'm not sure. All I know is that everytime I have ever gone in there they do everything in their ability to make your experience the worst, and uncomfortable. I went in with my father a while back, whoever the bald guy is attempted to talk him out of a fish, and belittle my dads knowledge as if he has not owned plenty before. A comment that made me laugh was that he had asked how big my dads tank was, probably about 2-3 times larger than the one they had about 12 fish in my dad wanted 4. He told him his tank was not large enough... but that is? LOL. I think it makes him feel important to be such a hold over the customers. I have heard from several other people who have went here that he, and other employees talk the customers out of purchasing & once the customer does get their way, they remind you "We have a 2 day policy", possibly to avoid a lawsuit LOL. I went in there yesterday with my friend and was followed around the store after returning? Desiree, or whatever her name is, stood in an isle with unpacked boxes next to her just staring. It makes the shopping experience pretty uncomfortable. A bit unprofessional. My friend asked about their being other bettas available, Jason, being their selection was horrible and they barley had any to display but switch them out daily, had gotten smart with her, I had called back to see if we would be taken care of in a better manor, I believe he was the one who answered, upon my asking, he hung up the phone. This is by far the WORST PetCo I have ever been to, little to nothing to choose from. And these people act like their experts but know very little to none. Don't waste your time. read more

You will find a great groomer here named Brianna! Our dog loves to go here and Brianna does a very professional job. The store has everything all your pets will need, the store is very clean and the employees always are helpful and knowledgable! We just bought two parakeets and the staff have been supportive teaching us how to care for our birds. read more
