I'm so sad to mention that Petco in Northridge next to Costco is closing and their last day of operation is this coming Friday 02/07/2026. I found this out when I stopped by today looking for a replacement Large Water dispenser for my dog who chewed my old one up (unfortunately I didn't find one). I was so sad to see the signs mentioning the closure. Everything in the store has discounted prices, Pet food is about 15% off, Non food or animal items are 50% off, and The aquarium area is also 50% off. If you have read my other reviews, I have been searching for the right fish to replace one of my tanks. I am picky about my fish and quality, because I take good care of them and they last me years. Unfortunately my older fish in my smaller tank recently passed and I have gone to a couple other pet stores in the last couple weeks and didn't find anything. I was so happy to find the perfect little guy in one of the tanks who followed me around and looked so cute, I knew he was perfect. The employee who helped me was so sweet and kind, she helped me get him out along with two others that caught my eye, and then we just got to talking about invasive snails and she was so nice to help me get some out for my larger tank. Staff is so friendly and kind, and the store has always been well maintained and clean. If you have time to stop by, do so before Friday! read more

I am absolutely heartbroken and furious about what happened to my dog at the Petco grooming on Tampa today. His appointment was at 8:00 AM. I dropped him off on time, only for them to immediately put him in a cage and ignore him. At 8:30 -- thirty minutes later -- they finally called me just to say they "can't take him because he's barking." When I asked why he was left in a cage for so long, the groomer kept repeating that they "keep dogs on rotation at 8 AM." I have no idea what "rotation" my dog was supposed to be on when his appointment was at 8 AM and the store opens at 8 AM. It made zero sense. Instead of taking responsibility, she actually told me to "come back another day for a VIP treatment." Why would I bring him back for a VIP treatment at the same place that just stressed him out, caged him, ignored him, and refused to groom him? When I brought him home, he wasn't himself at all. He curled up and shut down, completely drained -- this photo says everything. No dog should return from a simple grooming appointment looking emotionally exhausted. This store needs to understand that these aren't just animals -- they're family. The lack of care, communication, and compassion today was unacceptable, and I will never bring him here again. read more

First time & last time coming to this location for my dog's grooming. My dog's groomer Richard was very nice but took a very long time with grooming. Appt was at 2:45 pm and I left at 7:30 pm WTH?!!! However, him & Manager Rea were the only two people who were attentive & very nice. This poor review is concerning the other groomer Tisha. She was beyond rude, & had an abrasive voice cutting me off when I asked her for assistance. I asked her to relay a message to Richard so I did not disturb him & not get my dog's attention. She dismissed my request, cut me off & told me rudely "go tell your dog's groomer". I told her to calm down & to stop being rude. And her response when I asked what her name was --she pointed to her awful picture on the wall. This was the rudest customer service I ever encountered. Tisha does not care about Petco customer's needs or concerns. She did not want to be bothered & she needs to be reminded/educated on how to properly speak to customers. My second time taking my lil Pomeranian Sparky and my last time. Richard was the groomer - first time he met Sparky - told me it would be about 3-4 hours - Didn't think to much about that, now I realized they put him in a kennel - and Sparky never goes in a kennel. So he had as they said anxiety and Richard couldn't finish giving Sparky his haircut. He could only cut his body but not his neck and face. Allegedly Sparky tried to bite Richard. I was told by Nicole that when a person doesn't bring their pet in regularly, they tend to have issues. I felt she tried to put the blame on me about this. BUT here is the kicker, Nicole handled Sparky the first time and said he did really good. In fact Nicole said before that Sparky did good on allowing her to cut his nails and next time he should do better. But when I told Nicole she didn't have any problems the first time - she changed her tune in front of Richard. Now for the icing - Nicole said I may want to go to PETSMART because there they can put a muzzle on him. Did they really just refer me to their competition versus trying to work this out with me? Mind you there was no yelling or screaming during this exchange, I wanted to yell and tell them how I felt they just didn't care. I knew something was wrong with their professionalism when I walked in and the two younger ladies behind the counter were going on and on about something and laughing then eventually addressing me. I wouldn't go back there even if I wasn't referred to PETSMART. I didn't like Richard's attitude on the the phone when he said Sparky was ready. I wouldn't go back because Nicole lied to me in front of Richard, and I wouldn't go back because the two young ladies didn't address me when I walked in with Sparky. The just lost one customer. I came this afternoon to pick up an order and to do an exchange. I spend several hundred dollars at petco per month and have been shopping here for years. In all my years, I think I've returned twice so I'm not a serial returner. Today I brought in some weruva cat food I bought 2 months ago that I wanted to exchange because when I opened the box today, I noticed someone had exchanged the contents of one of the boxes. The other 2 were fine. I didn't bother to check the inside of the box when I picked up the food from petco 2 months ago because I had no reason to. As I said, I order so much cat food per month and never had a problem. I took the receipt and the sealed merchandise to the cashier Melissa who was assisted by Daisy. Not only did they refuse to return it, they wouldn't exchange it for the correct food or give me store credit. What's worse it they way they treated me. They were rude and condescending. When I tried to reason with them and show them how much I buy per month and never return, they told me I should have checked the box before I left the store to make sure it wasn't tampered with. Seriously??? What is your job. They are the ones who get paid, not me. Do your job and check to make sure you are giving customers the correct items. Melissa and Daisy should not be dealing with customers. Both are rude and incompetent. Zero customer appreciation. I will be calling customer service and my credit company to dispute the measly $17. UPDATE: immediately after my visit to the Northridge store, I went to the Chatsworth store to pick up an order and Sam, without issue, immediately allowed me to exchange the food I was attempting to exchange/return at Northridge. Such a different experience when you actually deal with someone competent and cares about customer service. Thank you Sam!! read more

Today, we took our dog in for a grooming where she has gone since she was a puppy for 2.5 years. We dropped our dog off at 3pm, mind you the grooming salon closes at 6pm. The tech was rude from the drop off and seemed to not want to service our large dog. Piper also seemed a little weary and did not want to go with the tech but ultimately stayed and went back with her. Three hours goes by and after not hearing from the store to pick her up, I tried calling for an update. I called twice. They don't answer the phone so I'm not sure why they even have a dedicated phone line. Rather I got a text message saying Piper was not yet done so we decided to drive over and wait. When we got there, the tech who already had a bad attitude about our large dog said they were unable to clip her nails because she was biting to which is said "that's odd, she hasn't done that before." The tech immediately went on to say it had happened before..surprising to us as we have never once been told that she has remotely growled at anyone, now you are stating she tried to bite and that this isn't the first time. Obviously had she tried to bite at any previous visits, you would not service our dog. I got the receipt and went to pay to check out. The tech went to retrieve Piper from the back and to release her to my husband. I walked outside the store and walked up to the grooming salon door where my husband was trying to put on Piper's collar and leash. The tech opened the door prior to the collar being fastened and continued to argue about previous incidents that we have never once been made aware of. Rather than worrying about the safety of our dog that was eager to get out of there. She was lucky my dog did not run out into the street where cars were driving. What an unprofessional employee let alone bad experience all around. It is safe to say we will never be back and will absolutely tell everyone we know about this situation. read more

Today was my first time taking my dog to this specific Petco for grooming and I chose Reggie to groom him based off of the reviews I read when I was looking for a new groomer as I just moved to the area. I was nervous just because it's always nerve racking having to find a new groomer especially after coming from a groomer that was great. I was also nervous because he is walking in my wedding in a few weeks and his haircut needed to be perfect. Reggie did such a great job with my dog. Let me start off by saying that I spend over $200 monthly at Petco and I'm a vital care member. I have 2 big dogs. On 12/28 I went in to buy dog food. A representative asked me if I needed assistance I said no but then I asked him if they price match? He said yes just show the cashier the ad and they will price match. I learned not too long ago that they price matching with other competitors. I get to the cashier name Jamie or Janie (something like that) and tell her I would like to price match. She advised me that they only price match with Petco.com. My response was "oh I was advised that you guys now price match with other competitors" (concerned tonality) cause how do you work here and not know this? This young girl started screaming at me saying "well look at the way you're coming at me!" I was so confused because in no way did I "come at her" what does that even mean? She then try's to get the ppl in line involved by turning around and trying to get them involved. I asked for a manager she said I would have to wait 45min for a manager to come. I asked if there was someone else in charge? (Cause how is a store running without a manager or supervisor) she then called someone to the front and I said are you the manager? He said "yeh" (Stuttering ) I said "oh cause your cashier said you were out to lunch" . The cashier Jamie/Janie behind me started saying "I never said that". I turned around and advised her I was no longer talking to her. Whatever happened to customer service? I'm 33 years old, there no need for me to coming at a youngster over a price match. So I went today to pick up again. My order that I placed online and it was a little busy. The guy was helping a new customer a new pet person. There was a person standing behind me. The manager refused to price match because the color of the bed wasn't the same as the one listed on their website. Same exact bed, just a different color. My first encounter with him I was in an isle he was behind me and he wanted me to move, I didn't notice because I was looking at things on the shelf instead of saying excuse me he stood behind me until I moved around and bumped into him and he just stayed starring at me ? excuse you!
