I go here for grooming and Ashley the groomer is the best! Not to sugar coat it my dog is giant,very energetic & a very hairrrrry and she handles him so well. I've tried grooming him myself a few times and he wouldn't have it with me. I am rating this store based on today's grooming experience for my two cats. I am so annoyed. I took my 13 week kitten and my newly adopted 3 year old ragdoll cat today. When I made an appointment, they told me they would do all the regular cleaning- ear, face, sani trim, dematt her, give her a bath and any haircut I want. I got there and the groomer tells me oh we can't do the hair cut. And then I was like ok fine at least do the rest. So they called me when everything was supposedly done. And I brought her home and she's still stinky in the back why much. And the bath was terrible. The fur is still dirty. And I brushed her myself and so much fur came out. Guess they didn't dematt either. Her nose wasn't cleaned. Nails weren't trimmed properly. They didn't trim the pads. So what exactly did they do? They put her in some water and that's it? What a waste of time and money. Not to mention the stress that the cat had to go through. Experienced cat groomer? Not at all. Stay away from this place and go anywhere else. read more

Overall OK for me. I mainly buy treats and bones for my pups because they are priced fairly. Everything else is on the expensive side so I stick to Walmart for dog food, beds, toys, and what not. The staff is usually friendly but haven't tested their knowledge since I don't need their opinions for the treats and bones. read more

I usually buy my pet supplies at Pet Supplies Plus but have stopped in here on occasion to pick up a few things. It's a typical pet supply store. I can't comment on any groomers or obedience classes there but as far as food and collars and other pet things it seems like they have a good selection and a nice staff. Parking lot is a little tricky. read more

I got my Teddy Bear Hamster here and the service was amazingand the hamster is very nice and was not at all trammatized or scared . But on another ocasion we got some cat food and went home to open it and there were maggots in it. EWW!! We no longer by animal food from there. read more

The staff at this store tries to assist you in any way they can. Sue, is always cheerful. Patrick is informed on all departments. The grooming staff tries to make your dogs experience a good one. I have a very hard dog to groom and they get the job done every time. I've seen them tackle a wide variety of dogs. read more

I am a little biased since I mainly come here for reptile supplies and the occasional dog treats and such, but I noticed how clean the tanks are and how well they take care of their reptiles. Some things weren't the best, like the humidity levels in the bearded dragons tanks and all, but I was blown away by their husbandry after being so used to Petsmart. What kind of operation confirms your grooming appointment for Sunday morning (made 2 weeks in advance) then calls you at 5 o'clock the night before and says 'oh, there was a scheduling mixup, we have to cancel your appointment for tomorrow'. Tonight was my last visit to this petco. Called about exchanging canned food I purchased online from petco. Spoke to woman who said bring in receipt for refund. Took the only receipt I received that turned out to be the packing slip. She said that wasn't the receipt. Was no help whatsoever and pretty snippy. I ended up taking the cans back home. The male cashier tried his best and was very polite. She walked away. Nice customer service. I ll go back to other online pet food sites. I m not impressed with anything about petco. After losing my 10 year old pit bull in April due to illness. I decided to adopt a dog from Animal Welfare to fill the void in my heart. My 11 year old pit bull didn't take too well to the transition. After witnessing the worst dog fight I have ever seen I realized I needed help. I went into Petco and started talking to one of the trainers, Dawn. She spent a lot of time describing some of the issues I might have because of my situation. I decided to sign up for a 6 week obedience training class for my new dog. At the beginning my dog, Bella would not even "sit" Last Sunday Bella "graduated" from Dawn's 6 week class. What a difference it has made for our entire family. The tips, tools, training and advice given to me by Dawn was amazing. I feel like I would not be where we are today without her help. read more

So I'm patiently waiting outside in my car since 8:45am and we adopted a kitten from animal welfare league, he ran out of wet food so I decided I would try petco while I was there get my dog some pedigree (wet to mix with her dry), I walked the aisles for 15 solid minutes, no luck and nobody in sight to assist consumers with only 2 people in store and 3 employees working. I finally find cat/dog food and it's on sale (not pedigree) get to register and was told without my petco card because I'm new to the system I wouldn't be able to get sale prices, if that's the case I'm not paying a dollar each for small cans of cat food, it's ok I tell her if I'm not in the system I'll go somewhere else (maybe somewhere that has my dogs food) quickly she says I'll use a temp card.:..shouldn't that be the case regardless? If someone forgets a card shouldn't they use a temp card? Don't you want to save your customers $ or you trying to buy another vacation home for corporate? It's not like it's going in your pocket! (Btw the card is a piece of paper that comes inside a brochure) I most likely won't be back and kinda sorry I didn't go to pet supplies plus. read more

First and last time at this petco. I called to make an appt for grooming for my newly adopted pup and was asked for both of our names and a number and given the first available time which I accepted, nothing else was mentioned. When I arrived I was asked for shot records and at this point I am already agitated because this is the first I'm hearing of this. After talking to the guy for a few minutes and trying to figure out a solution a girl who is grooming yells at me "what is the problem?!" This is strike number 2 because that is not the way you speak to customers (I have worked in retail I know they can be difficult and I was not). They finally agreed to give him a straight through bath while I waited in the store, which was fine. When I went to pick my pup up I continued to be polite because again, I have worked in retail, I made sure to say thank you and was completely ignored. The check out cashier was polite and helpful. read more

I called this location yesterday in hopes of signing my dog up for a training class. The woman on the phone was very nice and helped me choose a class which happened to start that evening. I explained that we recently adopted a husky and we needed help with some issues. She told me the class that started that evening, Adult 1, was the right class. I explained that my dog could be a bit aggressive on the leash toward other dogs and was she sure that this group class was ok. She said not to worry that this has happens and that I had"nothing to lose " by trying this class. I came 30 minutes early to sign up my dog. He was very well behaved and the guy at the register, Jake, was very friendly as we chatted about my dog as well as his husky. He assured me the trainer Mike could handle any issues with my dog. My dog and I walked throughout the store without issue with other dogs in the store as well as customers. We were in an aisle, when my dog caught site of another dog across the aisle. My dog did bark loudly at that dog as well as jumped. I had him in my control. I see and hear someone walking quickly and yelling " Is that M**?( my dog's name)?" I said yes it is and he, Mike said, " he cannot come to this class when he acts like that in a large area and the class is in a much smaller area". I said well that's what I explained on the phone and was assured that I should try it. He said nope and that he would be there over the weekend to work one on one with us. I asked when he just kept saying anytime... not setting anything up, just trying to get away as quickly as possible. I felt like a child who had been scolded in school! We were kicked out of the class before it started. I waited patiently for a refund because I would not be returning for one on one training with Mike who I feel acted so inappropriately yelling at me in front of other customers. Jake once again explained that he went to training with his dog when he got the dog and before he worked at this store. He was great again and very kind and I felt he felt uncomfortable as well after the way Mike reacted. My dog and I deserve someone who will be less reactive when the reason we came was for training. Perhaps Mike needs some in customer relations. read more

I am with Larry. I have a one year old Golden retriever. He is so well trained and is going through the pet therapy (yes, like the ones in hospitals) program. Everybody loves him and he loves people. We took him here for a shave because he was having trouble blowing his winter coat because of the strange weather we had. (Cold in May then 95 degrees...poor pup). I went here also because years ago my other dog was so scared and would shake/poop but their groomers were amazing towards her. These ladies were middle aged women who had some whites (knowledge) to show. Today our dog wasn't done within the 3-4 hours time limit that they gave us. They were shocked that we came in after 4.5 hours. He was not even shaved yet and they said it was because he was afraid of the dryers. Fine. So we went shopping around and I see the aide (not the groomer Sara who was kind) pulling my dog's back leg then puts him into a headlock. The dog didn't like the shaver's sound by his ears. When Sara tried to use the shaver the aide would pull at his other ear. My husband got fed up. We understand that is a terribly loud noise for a young/non deaf (by aging) dog. The dog calmed down when we sat and watched and my husband gave him the sit/stay commands. They didn't even want us to do that but guess what? The grooming went by fast that way. We had to tell them to use the scissors to trim around his ears instead of the shaver. Really? That is common sense. When my dog "smiled" at me I realized that his gums were bleeding by the aide's side. I had to ask what happened and nobody had an answer. I am not trying to be an overprotective dog owner but this was a hot mess scene. On top of it, we got charged an extra $6 for the aide to pull and make my dog bleed. Maybe the young girls are good with dogs that weigh less that 30 lbs but I am sure not going back here again. I miss the middle aged women who took great care of my 50+ lbs dog who was beyond petrified of the groomers. Obviously they are long gone and have better paying jobs. read more

I will not be going back to petco dog grooming ON 95th street. From the second i walked in there they made me wait 15 minutes while they looked up my appointment. They claimed they couldn't find it. Finally they found it and took my dog for a groom. They said they would call me in an hour to an hour and a half. 2 hours later I arrived at petco with still no call, wondering when they would be done. They said my dog was waiting in the kennel and that he was done. Ok so where the hell was my phone call? How long was he waiting there? That pissed me off. And THEN (this is what sent me over the edge) they tell me they couldn't cut his nails because he was too excited with other dogs around and that I should come back another time when there are less dogs. Ummmm is that a joke? What kind of professional business are you? You will never be getting my business again. I give this place ZERO stars. And on top of that they are wayyyy overpriced. My dog deserves to go to a better place than petco with nicer workers. read more
