Petco has a great rewards program. You pay $18 a month per pet that you get a plan for and get back $15 in reward coupons, $20 for any vet visit, 10% off litter, free bag of cat food - every 7 bags ( I believe) plus other discounts for food, grooming, & more. I have one plan for one of my cats, but use the discounts to buy all of their food litter, etc. and then another plan for one of my dogs and same thing. I use the discounts for everyone. You could use the credit at the store or online. There's always a good selection and shows are usually well stocked. Staff is usually friendly. It's a good overall pet store. read more

While I was at Petco, I came across these two hamsters that were running crazy in their small tank. From being on many different Facebook pages learning about what hamsters need, I've learned that this can be a neurological issue, a brain tumor or an ear infection. I'm only 17 so I'm unable to purchase a hamster without an adult but I wanted to do something to help him. I talked to the manager and she wouldn't listen to me. All she said was "no he's fine. That's what they do. But I know that's not true. I can't believe it took me so long to realize that you can purchase cat litter and just get it refilled at the store for $10! We've been spending so much money over the years on cat litter as we have two cats so naturally a lot is being scooped away daily. But once we figured out that you can come here and just refill not only does it help us feel better about the environment by using one container but we were able to save financially not to mention the litter here is just significantly better at smells and clumping so we use less and smell it less than the ones we used to buy at Publix. The staff is always really nice and helpful plus it's always a great place to look for kitten toys and holiday gifts. read more

So I went in for some frozen mice and they refused to price match (with PetSmart.com). Apparently you are required to call a number and request a price match through that. Which of course is a huge hassle I'm sure. Now normally if it's to save a dollar maybe two, I wouldn't be bothered but for 6 frozen fuzzy mice Petco wants 16$ while PetSmart sells them for $10. That's almost twice the price. Long story short, Petco is overpriced and refuses to do anything about it. PetSmart is where it's at. Soon after adopting our awesome dog from the neighboring county animal shelter, I had him groomed at Petco. This helped identify him as a pure Mini Schnauzer, as he had had a rough go of it before he was found. As I checked out, a very helpful salesperson discussed the various training options they had in store, when I mentioned his penchant for chasing squirrels on walks. The schedule offered flexibility and a good promotion for Pet Pal Rewards. It was important that my son and mother could also learn to handle him. Adam, the trainer, said it was important to have everyone there participating. We didn't think anything was going to be possible with certain commands like stay and leave it, but sure enough he picked up on it in a few weeks, even mastering the puppy push ups which my son tested him in class. Loose leash walking while looking was a challenge, yet he did very well at the graduation even with some distractions. It was also very good to learn about food and nutrition, as well as safety and petcare. Adam was very insightful with various instances that can occur at home. DO NOT HAVE YOUR PET GROOMED BY ANDREA!!! This is not my dogs first groom, but it is my first groom with Andrea and let me just say I will never EVER EVER leave my dog to be groomed by her again. I showed her multiple pictures of what her haircut used to look like and I just picked her up and my dog is completely bald.!! She an Australian Shepherd and is supposed to have a coat of hair on her not be completely bald. When I called to complain I was told that's what we asked for... NO IT IS NOT! I am going to attach a picture of how she used to be groomed and what Andrea made her look like. My poor dog looks like a naked mole rat and on top of that I was charged 80$ for the WORSE HAIRCUT EVER. On top of that the haircut is not even, there are parts of her legs and chest that are shorter than the rest of her body. How are you going to charge so much for a horrible haircut. I came here to purchase food for my dogs and I bought a bag that I happily paid $70 for. Upon opening the bag, the entire thing was covered in maggots and spiders. The bottom shelf of the store where the bag was, infested with spiders and roaches as well. This store is unprofessional and disgusting, then the lady had the audacity to ask for more money when I went to change the bag for a different one. I am never coming here again, do better. Bottom line: The customer service I received will definitely get me back in the door. I recently inherited a sugar glider. What's a sugar glider? That's the question I get almost every time I say I have one - even at some pet stores! I went in here and asked the girl at the register if they sold any food for Sugar Gliders. She got on a radio system and asked "Does anyone know anything about Sugar Gliders?" She told me someone would be out in a minute. In far less than a minute Daria was standing in front of me with a smile on her face and she asked "So, did you just get a Sugar Glider?" I told her the story and said I had food and was feeding it fresh fruits and veggies but I wanted some snacks for it and I also needed some toys for it. She was a wealth of information! And not only was she knowledgeable but she was super friendly and walked me around several different areas making suggestions for toys/items to stimulate my glider in his cage. She told me what to stay away from and what they would like and why. She showed me bird toys and small animal toys that my glider would be able to crawl in and out of and shred. While I was looking and deciding she came back several times with additional suggestions that she thought of. I wound up buying my glider treats, a new little house and several toys. I have been to this location a few times with my pup, and we really enjoy it. The staff is nice, and often offers her a treat, the store is clean and they have a wide variety of products. I also enjoy that Petco has a large selection of Star Wars pet items, the only downside is the price is high (they actually have a $20.00 "collectible" series of dog toys, although I don't get the idea of a collectible dog toy). My only complaint about this store, and more so the product, is I went here hoping to get a harness for my medium dog and had an impossible time. The selection for larger (anything above small) dogs is very limited, the sizes are hard to tell if they will fit, the products are very difficult to try on due to packaging and from what I could tell, my pup that is only 45 pounds would at least be a large which they had almost none of. My other dog is 90 pounds and there is absolutly no hope of getting him a harness. read more

For Pet Grooming it's a one star. I had my dog "groomed" by a young woman who appeared friendly but did the worst job ever. She was tall caucasian with short blonde hair who seemed to be in a rush to leave when I came back to pick my dog up. This tells me she did not do a good job because she was anxious to leave. He did not smell better, his bottom still had a stench and his ears were not cleaned either. His nails were sharper than when I brought him in. Worst. Groom. Ever. Do not bring your dog here to be groomed. I wasted $25 and will never come back here again. I assume she just placed him in the kennel for a couple hours and did not bathe him he wasn't the least bit damp. I understand he was air dried but when I went to another groomer he was a tiny bit damp which shows he was ACTUALLY bathed. Save your money and time and go somewhere else for grooming. For retail I give it two stars because the service is good and they always have what I need but this grooming experience has lost my interest in the store and I will never return. read more

I adopted my first kitty here. The store manager, Liz, is super friendly and really cares about her customers. Today I went to buy some cans of food for my cats and I had no idea I had rewards pending on my pals account! Liz told me I had rewards pending and that if I added 3 more cans to my shopping cart I could redeem them all. I bought 13 cans of cat food and I only had to pay the taxes that were less than a dollar. Definitely Liz is the best store manager I've ever met and I'm super loyal to Petco now. read more

Great place with everything you need for all your pets. I have a dog and 2 saltwater aquarium. You can get very thing you need for both there. Their saltwater selection is limited but that is due to high cost and potential loss. Pal award is great for discount and money back reward. I just wanted to just say Adam, the main dog trainer has been amazing at teaching me how to properly train my dogs in multiple classes. I highly recommend all he classes he is always professional as well as patient with myself and my dogs. The classes work as long as you stick the plan that Adam has set for each week they show you how to use positive reinforcements and shows you how not the yell at your dog when they something wrong. I have recommend Adams classes and the Petco store it self to my family and friends, if you are looking for one best dog training courses in Orlando for a great price then go see Adam he will show you that your dog will learn as long as you are willing to learn. Also the grooming team is awesome they have been able to calm my babies down for a nail trimming which can be a crazy experience. The petco grooming salon here is the absolute worst. I have taken my 7 year old shitzu to the location over in colonial and sand lake and never have the issues I have with these people. They put a note in his profile saying he can't stand up which they never notified me of. Since then they cancel every appointment I make last minute on me. My dog has no medical issues and can stand up properly. Natasha is the most unprofessional groomer I've dealt with.
