Belmont Park is one of those iconic beach places that you see on TV and movies and you're like is it really like that? Yes, yes it is! We picked mission beach specifically to ride the 100 or old roller coaster and we wrre not disappointed. It was $16 for us both to ride 1x each and it was fun. Its old. Its wooden. It creaks. It is worth it! Other attractions at BP looked neat but we specifically came for the coaster. There are tons of food options and some are sut down, some are fast food. Great date day! read more

Where do I start? I show up to purchase wristbands for myself and my 10-year-old and the cashier was very aggressive and intimidating. He shouted out the total for two wristbands and I let him know there was a different price online. He shouted out to purchase the wristbands online for that price. I walked away purchased the wristbands went back to pick up the physical wristbands. He scanned the barcode and put the wristbands on our wrist. And then with a smile said the list of rides that were closed. And then said " we are short staffed and due to that we do not have employees at the rides once they get here at 12:30 then you'll be able to get on the rides" I looked at my 10-year-old and said OK we'll go walk the beach and get a bite to eat until they open up. Guess what the staff never got there! Honestly, he thought it was funny when he told me that we weren't going to be able to get on rides until the other staff got there. There were a few rides like the mini dipper and the carousel. But who buys wristbands to get on a couple rides and then get on the bumper cart. If that's the case then I would've just bought individual tickets. LET YOUR GUEST KNOW AHEAD OF TIME IF YOU ARE SHORT STAFFED AND THE PARK WILL NOT BE RUNNING AS USUAL!! I had to keep looking for staff to let us on rides and then even then I wasn't able to get on every ride. I paid for a wrist band for myself and my daughter thinking that we were going to be able to enjoy the day but we were not. I do want to point out that I'm a single mom and low income and this was supposed to be something amazing for us. $100 to Belmont Park is absolutely nothing but for me it is. And just FYI, I a lot of people kept leaving the park upset. But for them, they didn't purchase wristbands. We waited till after 5 PM hoping that as the shift changed employees would come and open up all of the rides, but that never happened. I was hoping to get my money back for the wristband, but because the employee at the counter was so aggressive I was honestly afraid to go up and ask for a refund. I'm hoping Belmont Park will make this right and provide my daughter and I with an opportunity to return to Belmont Park at no charge to us and be able to get on the rides. read more

I went in the giant dipper for the first time today! The dark tunnel spooked me cuz I didn't know what was coming lol! I loved the first drop it was really smooth it was only the last few drops that was really shaky! Honestly I had to hover above my seat so I wouldn't be tossed on my friend lol! This was a super random trip for us. Originally we had gone to the playground across the street and my little begged to come here, so we had no other plans and decided, what the heck. Bought some ticket cards and went on the roller coaster, bumper cars, the super high obstacle course, the escape room laser thing. It was really fun for us! I would go again. read more

I bought season passes for my grandkids and I to enjoy as a Christmas present for the year. The gift that keeps on giving in good times and good memories. My four-year-old granddaughter is just learning to ride the rides and she enjoyed the carousel today and the little cars and the pirate playground. The older kids really enjoyed the laser game as well as the mic drop. The ropes course was really crowded today so we hope to do that another day. Such a fun place to hang out for a day! Old school rides: loved the bumper cars, hated the wooden roller coaster, zip line was fun as most kids enjoyed it. My favorite ride was the beach blaster, I must have gone 4 times and loved every minute of it. Food was typical of an amusement park: pricy but was satisfying. I grew up going to Belmont Park. It looks a little different than it did back then. We enjoyed ourselves. They had their Christmas decor out and it made for some great photo ops. We stopped in the arcade and played awhile. The arcade is pretty much a rip off because anything worth using the tickets on requires thousands of tickets. It would be more affordable to go to the store and buy what you want. I still love Belmont park. The beach is right there and parking is free. read more

This place is so cute! Can't believe I didn't come here when I lived in San Diego. I never got to try any of the rides, but my friends and I did an escape room at Escapology. Parking was challenging to find, but we managed to snag a spot in the main entrance lot. With a map, Belmont Park is fairly easy to navigate. Or just wander. Most of my 5-star rating is for the "spicy" dole whip we rewarded ourselves with after making a successful escape. We sat at one of the public tables and people-watched as we hung out. This week we visited Disneyland, California adventure, Sea World and the Safari Park. Well, let me tell you, this was the hit of the week! Which was unexpected. Belmont Park is celebrating its 100 year anniversary, Disney it's 70th and Sea World it's 60th. Belmont park is the original theme park. It has great rides, free parking, and solid food choices. When you look around you can see this is where California Adventure drew its inspiration. My nieces loved the rides! We got the wrist band, which is the best deal for teens and tweens that love rides. I felt the cost, wait time and ride satisfaction was the best for them here. Favorite rides are the giant dipper, zip line, beach blaster. But they are all good! Of the six parks we visited this week. This was a favorite (#1 ranked) with 1/3 of our group, everyone else had it a #2 or #3. Overall a solid choice and a winner! Good value, good rides, great family experience. read more

Accidentally stumbled upon Belmont Park after doing an escape room right next door, and I'm so glad we did! It immediately reminded me of the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, just on a slightly smaller scale. This is an old boardwalk type rides. $8 per ride for most adult rides , however the bulk of the rides are designed for small children. Like most tourist attractions it is overpriced . I will give it credit for it seems well maintained for something this old . It was crowded and many of the guest were rude. This was a fun throwback. It reminds me of Santa Monica Pier or Coney Island. It's a cute boardwalk with a cool arcade, decent food, and fund rides and attractions. Food - they have hot dog on a stick, Wetzel's pretzels, burgers, and pizza. We had pizza which was two BIG slices and a drink for $16. And we also had hamburgers and fries about the same price. The hamburger and fries were really delicious. *tip* if you can eat or will eat a plain cheeseburger get the kids one. It's the same Size and $5 less. Rides/attractions - you can put tickets individually in the amount for the rides you want to ride or you can get a season pass OR you can get a wristband for the day. We did the wristband and I totally was the best deal for us at least. In person it's $65, the online price is $55 and you can buy online at funex for $49. It covers all 14 rides as many times as you want, 2 trips on the zip line, and as many rounds of these attractions : Mini Golf, Laser Tag, Sky Ropes, Lasermaze, The Rockwall, Coconut Climb and Xanadu 7D Theater. While we were there we didn't personally have any issues with staff or any safety concerns. It was relatively clean as well. It was also nice that you could walk two minutes down to the beach boardwalk and be on the sand! There's a beach rental shop other restaurants and breweries out there as well. Oh yeah one note, parking IS AWFUL. if that deters you, don't even try to go. You'll have to circle for quite some time. read more

Belmont Park is such a cute date night (or just fun night) spot . I'm not really there for the beach--though the ocean backdrop is gorgeous--it doesn't feel like the place to chill in the sand, and the beach itself isn't the cleanest. One of the larger buildings that was the plunge that was built during the early years of the 1900s. For the state park of Belmont Park you can take the day and taste the food and have the hot dogs or the cotton candy that was around since the early days . The many places at the Belmont Park serves the best in pizza and the best in hamburgers over the many years food has changed one of the greatest foods that was the one great candy apple and the home made fudge the one boardwalk candy that was the best . You can still find the milkshakes and the best homemade Ice Cream the many things of the boardwalk days one of the best was the caramel corn that was one of the favorites for the kids the past of the Belmont Park the years of the 30 40 and 50s and the 60s. With the Yelp Elites the many places that I have seen there has been some of the greatest food and service with the greatest wines and deserts . This review is based on taking younger kids. *** Worth the trip if it isn't crowded. There are about 5 rides a child 48" and under can ride by themselves and that's it. So if you're taking your kiddos, you either need to accompany them on the other rides, or have them enjoy those same 5 rides over and over. We didn't eat a meal when we were here, but the prices seemed reasonable for a place like this. You're looking at about $20 with taxes for a burger meal. There's a largish snack station (can't remember the name or if it even had a name) in the middle of the park near the go karts for big kids that sells a large bag of popcorn for $7 and a pretzel for $4. I found that to be a good deal considering the Wetzel Pretzel just feet away was $6.99 for a pretzel. The bathrooms are located near the laser tag at the back of the building and were clean. They have a water bottle refill station in the same area. The arcade was OK- a bit crammed and overpriced for my liking. The games have varying credit requirements, which I'm not a fan of. Overall, your kids are going to really like (probably love) it here regardless. Especially the taller/older ones where they can go on more rides and enjoy the rock climbing and ziplining. However, I recommend visiting during the off season and on weekdays to avoid crowds and tourists. read more

BIG TIP: Do not buy the unlimited wristband until you have checked and verified if the rides your kids want to do are open. We went on a Tuesday afternoon, bought 2 unlimited wristbands ($64 each) for a 9 and 10-year-old. They were excited to do the zip line, laser maze, and rope course that they did last summer. After paying for the wristband, we found out the zip line and laser are closed until further notice. The top of the rope course will be opened at 12 pm; it's 12:30 pm and they're still not open, it's 1pm, they said "closed". My kids are too short for the bigger rides, there's no refund, basically $130 for my kids to do the bumper cars and crazy kars.cars. UPDATE. I did find a manager, they did refund us the both unlimited passes, minus the rides we used. read more

Small amusement park located on the beach in Mission Beach. It is absolutely free to enter the park. Parking is also free. They have two parking lots on either side of the amusement park. which fill up quickly. There's a second parking lot across the street and it was very easy to find parking there. All of the rides require a ticket and you can purchase tickets from the ticket booth. They will load the tickets onto a card that has a QR code. I only went to ride the roller coaster, which is usually eight tickets or eight dollars. Since it was national roller coaster day on Friday, August 16th it was half-price. The roller coaster is about 100 years old. It is an old wooden coaster. It was fun and fast, but very rickety. I had a blast. All of the other rides are mostly for smaller children. There is also a large Dave and busters style arcade. There are a few choices for food, including hotdogs on a stick ice cream, funnel cakes, hamburgers, etc. The park was safe and clean. San Diego is So lucky to have a theme park right on the shore and the price of admission is absolutely free! The food, rides, and activities cost extra but in a town where even atmosphere has an admission fee for most places, it is so nice to be able to just walk around. There is an escape room, arcade, pool, miniature golf, the famous Dipper rollercoaster, and many more rides! And if that wasn't enough to choose from, there's many different types of food places from sit down to on the go.
