A cute little family-friendly place next to a beautiful beach! After walking around the beach for a while, we decided to walk around Belmont Park to see what it was all about. It was a summer Thursday and the place was packed with kids and their parents, all having a blast. There was a zip line, bumper cars, an arcade, a giant pirate-themed play place - heaven on earth to rambunctious little people! The whole place was cutesy - beach themed photo ops everywhere. They also had plenty of "fair food" for those looking for a junky snack. My only complaint was that there wasn't enough shaded areas to sit in and enjoy a meal. Additionally, they didn't really have any vegetarian food options. We were starving (our main reason for checking out this place) and found cheese pizza slices as the only vegetarian friendly option. Seemed quite odd considering how popular vegetarianism has become, especially in places like California.. If you have kids or are just looking to let your own inner-child run wild, this place is worth checking out! read more

Belmont Park is an iconic tourist stop when in San Diego. The famous Big Dipper rollercoaster has been around for decades and is still a thrill worth trying. Over the past decade arcades, bumper cars, put-put golf and kiddie rides have been added to the beachfront experience as well as a handful of food options. Be prepared to spend some serious money when visiting though, this place is not cheap. Tickets are needed to ride each ride and can be purchased at a stand on either end of the park (under the roller coaster and next to put-put golf). The kiddie rides start around $5/participant and increase from there. Bring your patience, parking is a beast any day or time of the year! read more

Amazing pier. We got mini golf, an arcade, rides, lots of rides, carnival-style games, and a huge pool with obstacle courses. Rock climbing, laser tag, and a beach, among other things. Like uh hell yes! Not to mention delicious food and ice cream and snacks everywhere. Prices are great for a pier, honestly. Most games in the arcade were a dollar to 2 dollars at most, which is low compared to, let's say, Dave & Buster's. Rides were decently priced, but they have all-day passes and even some sunrise deals where you can ride all rides for 40 bucks or so. Parking here does suck; on my last visit, I saw two people almost beat each other up for a parking spot. But other than that, this place is a fun, vibey spot. It's a great hangout spot with your kids, friends or even for date nights. We spent 6 hours here on our last trip, so it was worth it, and we had a blast. This is the perfect place for a family fun day. There are plenty of rides for small children and more than enough rides for adults. I like the arcade rooms that offer laser tag and other interactive games. The only downside is that if you are there on a popular day, it may be hard for you to find seating in the food court area. Great amusement park, similar to Santa Monica Pier, but cleaner. The Giant Dipper is a must-do for any roller coaster enthusiast, and it's just $8 a ride. Another yelper mentioned many rides being out of service on their visit. With that said, I asked if any rides were out of order the day I was there before purchasing the wristbands for unlimited rides. Only one ride was out of service. The lines were short, so we got to try many things many times over. There are a few attractions where they only let 2-4 people in at a time, which is a drag, especially because it was so dang hot outside. They offer the average amusement park food, but the portions were a good size for the money and the food was tasty. We visited around noon on a Tuesday and parking was easy. Plenty of spaces in the lot. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout the park. My only regret was wearing Birkenstocks the day we visited. I wanted to do the rock climbing and zip line, but closed toe shoes are required for those attractions. Next time. Overall, Belmont Park offers good old-fashioned family fun. read more

Has your typical boardwalk amusement park. You come for the ambience, rather than the quality of the rides. They do run specials often, so if you think you'll be coming a few times, I'd make sure to check them out ahead of time. Tried their monster waffle cone and they aren't kidding. It's "2" scoops of two flavors, but really felt like 6-8 scoops. I can't imagine how a group smaller than 4-5 would be able to finish it. For $8.50, it's not a bad deal, but it is VERY sweet. Free parking is a huge plus. Overall, a good place to stay for a couple of hours or for a full day. read more

Always a fun spot to hang. The beach is just right behind the rides area. It can get crowded, so get there early. This is definitely an all day kind of place. You have the small theme park, beach, stores, and restaurants all near by. We bought wristbands for the kids on Groupon. It included all the rides and the attractions. Zipline was only offered twice with this wristband. But everything else was unlimited. The Plunge area is not included and arcade games are also not included. After so many years in San Diego I finally visit Belmont Park thanks to a friend from the gym who took me as plus one for her company summer party. Something to consider is the free parking which is located in both sides of the park and it's free for a few hours. That's a plus because it can get very crowded. The park itself is smaller than I thought from the outside. Looks like you will find it very big and plenty of rides. Different attractions. But honestly there are not that many attractions and since I don't enjoy rides, I really like the bumper cars. It was fun and interesting. Yet I find that there are not enough attractions. The bumper cars were very simple in my opinion. The zipper line looks the more attractive item for me. We had all kinds of foods drinks. We've got wine beer and there were so many different spaces to eat. I had a blast. I felt like a child for one day and I really encourage you to go and celebrate the 1001 birthday party of this amusement park by the beach. read more

Belmont Park is one of those iconic beach places that you see on TV and movies and you're like is it really like that? Yes, yes it is! We picked mission beach specifically to ride the 100 or old roller coaster and we wrre not disappointed. It was $16 for us both to ride 1x each and it was fun. Its old. Its wooden. It creaks. I enjoy coming to Belmont park every time I'm in San Diego. This time around we went on a Wednesday and had a great offer on unlimited wristband. Kids had a great time with unlimited fun. All rides were open. There was a point where one ride was temporarily closed but worker was kind to let is know when it would reopen. So it was money well spent. We purchased a game card and my 6 year old was super proud of herself when she was able to win her own prize! The gentleman behind the booth was very helpful and kind. This was a super random trip for us. Originally we had gone to the playground across the street and my little begged to come here, so we had no other plans and decided, what the heck. I bought season passes for my grandkids and I to enjoy as a Christmas present for the year. The gift that keeps on giving in good times and good memories. My four-year-old granddaughter is just learning to ride the rides and she enjoyed the carousel today and the little cars and the pirate playground. The older kids really enjoyed the laser game as well as the mic drop. The ropes course was really crowded today so we hope to do that another day. Such a fun place to hang out for a day! Old school rides: loved the bumper cars, hated the wooden roller coaster, zip line was fun as most kids enjoyed it. My favorite ride was the beach blaster, I must have gone 4 times and loved every minute of it. Food was typical of an amusement park: pricy but was satisfying. I grew up going to Belmont Park. It looks a little different than it did back then. We enjoyed ourselves. They had their Christmas decor out and it made for some great photo ops. We stopped in the arcade and played awhile. The arcade is pretty much a rip off because anything worth using the tickets on requires thousands of tickets. Where do I start? I show up to purchase wristbands for myself and my 10-year-old and the cashier was very aggressive and intimidating. He shouted out the total for two wristbands and I let him know there was a different price online. He shouted out to purchase the wristbands online for that price. I walked away purchased the wristbands went back to pick up the physical wristbands. He scanned the barcode and put the wristbands on our wrist. And then with a smile said the list of rides that were closed. And then said " we are short staffed and due to that we do not have employees at the rides once they get here at 12:30 then you'll be able to get on the rides" I looked at my 10-year-old and said OK we'll go walk the beach and get a bite to eat until they open up. Guess what the staff never got there! Honestly, he thought it was funny when he told me that we weren't going to be able to get on rides until the other staff got there. There were a few rides like the mini dipper and the carousel. But who buys wristbands to get on a couple rides and then get on the bumper cart. If that's the case then I would've just bought individual tickets. LET YOUR GUEST KNOW AHEAD OF TIME IF YOU ARE SHORT STAFFED AND THE PARK WILL NOT BE RUNNING AS USUAL!! I had to keep looking for staff to let us on rides and then even then I wasn't able to get on every ride. I paid for a wrist band for myself and my daughter thinking that we were going to be able to enjoy the day but we were not. I do want to point out that I'm a single mom and low income and this was supposed to be something amazing for us. $100 to Belmont Park is absolutely nothing but for me it is. And just FYI, I a lot of people kept leaving the park upset. But for them, they didn't purchase wristbands. We waited till after 5 PM hoping that as the shift changed employees would come and open up all of the rides, but that never happened. I was hoping to get my money back for the wristband, but because the employee at the counter was so aggressive I was honestly afraid to go up and ask for a refund. I'm hoping Belmont Park will make this right and provide my daughter and I with an opportunity to return to Belmont Park at no charge to us and be able to get on the rides. read more

This place is so cute! Can't believe I didn't come here when I lived in San Diego. I never got to try any of the rides, but my friends and I did an escape room at Escapology. Parking was challenging to find, but we managed to snag a spot in the main entrance lot. With a map, Belmont Park is fairly easy to navigate. Or just wander. Most of my 5-star rating is for the "spicy" dole whip we rewarded ourselves with after making a successful escape. We sat at one of the public tables and people-watched as we hung out. I'm sure everyone's experience of Belmont Park has changed over the years, especially for those that grew up in the area. But I had a blast overall! read more

This week we visited Disneyland, California adventure, Sea World and the Safari Park. Well, let me tell you, this was the hit of the week! Which was unexpected. Belmont Park is celebrating its 100 year anniversary, Disney it's 70th and Sea World it's 60th. Belmont park is the original theme park. It has great rides, free parking, and solid food choices. When you look around you can see this is where California Adventure drew its inspiration. My nieces loved the rides! We got the wrist band, which is the best deal for teens and tweens that love rides. I felt the cost, wait time and ride satisfaction was the best for them here. Favorite rides are the giant dipper, zip line, beach blaster. But they are all good! Of the six parks we visited this week. This was a favorite (#1 ranked) with 1/3 of our group, everyone else had it a #2 or #3. Overall a solid choice and a winner! Good value, good rides, great family experience. read more

The overweight man running this cut water booth was insanely rude to us for not reason. We walked up in good spirits and ordered a drink and he said "it's full price" I said yes that's fine no worries and we jokingly pointed at the sign that read $7. He said "idk what school you guys went too that didn't teach you guys how to read." And continues on saying "you probably don't even have a job." We were literally shook! We had just walked up and he was attacking us for no reason at all. We looked at each other and tried laughing it off Like is this guy serious? He made other comments so I was like you know what never mind I don't want the drink anymore. And he's goes "broke ass" as I'm walking away. Lmfao idk what was up with him but that was insane. Chris, the skinny white guy who works the beach blaster on 7/7 at 7pm was doing too much. He scanned our cards and when the coaster couldn't sit me and my date together he made us go stand in line to get a refund on our cards and stand in line for the ride again instead of just opening the gate and letting us ride the next round. This was a fun throwback. It reminds me of Santa Monica Pier or Coney Island. It's a cute boardwalk with a cool arcade, decent food, and fund rides and attractions. Food - they have hot dog on a stick, Wetzel's pretzels, burgers, and pizza. We had pizza which was two BIG slices and a drink for $16. And we also had hamburgers and fries about the same price. The hamburger and fries were really delicious. *tip* if you can eat or will eat a plain cheeseburger get the kids one. It's the same Size and $5 less. Rides/attractions - you can put tickets individually in the amount for the rides you want to ride or you can get a season pass OR you can get a wristband for the day. We did the wristband and I totally was the best deal for us at least. In person it's $65, the online price is $55 and you can buy online at funex for $49. It covers all 14 rides as many times as you want, 2 trips on the zip line, and as many rounds of these attractions : Mini Golf, Laser Tag, Sky Ropes, Lasermaze, The Rockwall, Coconut Climb and Xanadu 7D Theater. While we were there we didn't personally have any issues with staff or any safety concerns. It was relatively clean as well. It was also nice that you could walk two minutes down to the beach boardwalk and be on the sand! There's a beach rental shop other restaurants and breweries out there as well. Oh yeah one note, parking IS AWFUL. if that deters you, don't even try to go. You'll have to circle for quite some time. read more

October kids are free with a paying adult. My daughter friend had her bday party there. Invited us. We had so much fun!!!! Totally worth it!!!! Our party tried the funnel cake delish, corn dog pretty good, pizza was so good, churros are Americanized. Hard find a good chorro. Milkshake was delish. I'm not really there for the beach--though the ocean backdrop is gorgeous--it doesn't feel like the place to chill in the sand, and the beach itself isn't the cleanest.
