I have been coming to this Petco for 2 years.... The only thing good about this place is the store manager but even as nice as she was.... it didnt make up for what happened. I took my dog in to get groomed. They were understaffed (which nobody told me about when I dropped him of for his appointment.) so I had to wait longer. Nobody told me it was going to be 2 hours longer than what I was told so I tried to be patient. Waited. Waited... I was ignore.....would have been nice if someone had given me an estimated wait time.... then again...they had the first time and look how that worked out. But I was still keeping my cool. Hey...things happen. Then a man walks in with 2 dogs... didnt have an appointment and asks to get both his dogs a nail trim. NO PROBLEM!! That's what they say. So my dog and I are waiting for a total of 5 hours to be taken care of and this guy just walks in and is helped right away. Understaffed. That why I had to wait so long. More like...not a priority. Thanks a lot. OH...BUT IM NOT DONE YET..... I took him to my work to show everyone the new "do" and when he rolled over..his undercarrage was wayyyy uneven. Nobody can really see it so I'm like...whatever today sucked I'm not going to worry about it... and then everyone asks why his tail is so uneven...and then my friend is petting his fur around the neck and asks why he has a dreadlock. Grooming salon has gone downhill! I had been taking my two medium-sized dogs to the grooming salon for nail buffs regularly, but not anymore. I took them in one morning and the new staffer said she could not trim them as she was pregnant and there was no one else coming in to groom until 11 (not great staffing, store manager!), then when I went back a couple weeks later, the nail trimmer obviously had no clue what he was doing. All I wanted was a quick nail buff, but he spent 20 minutes buffing my first dog's nails - not even trimming them, and he still managed to cut her nail so she was bleeding! Took my 5 month old puppy in for her first groom here today and I am beyond impressed!!! I was a little worried she might be nervous but she fell in love with her sweet groomer, Robin, right away. My dog is a miniature schnauzer so the cut is a little tricky and I was worried they might go to short or too long on the legs. Also, we didn't want the traditional schnauzer face so I was worried about that too. When I picked her up she looked PERFECT!! They really did a great job listening to what we wanted and making it so! She was sent home with a cute pink bandana, a little bag of treats with a big bow, and, best of all, a "my first groom" certificate complete with her photo and gold stars for good behavior. Beyond impressed, will be going back and asking for Robin!!! read more

If I could give this location a zero star rating, I would. I took what use to be my beautiful miniature 5lb maltipoo to be groomed at Petco. Worst experience EVER! Left her there at 11:30 in the morning and at 3:45 she was still wet! Chris, the "so called-groomer" was trimming her... I questioned why he was doing it basically wet and he looked annoyed by me.... that's when I walked out into the store, as she was clearly not ready to be picked up, and could hear her screaming... I evened asked the retail clerk if this guy ever worked with small dogs.... 30 minutes later... she came out completely chopped up! Nothing about her cut was even and she was completely shaking. Bows would not stay on because her cut was so choppy and you could tell that she was never blown out! The guy must have seen my face as he said he wouldn't charge me. .. but he did say it was "her fault" because she moved a bit!! I am so ticked off as the only thing the manager said to me was that I was the only one who's ever complained about him! ...SERIOUSLY?!?! NEVER TAKE YOUR DOG TO GET GROOMED AT PETCO (unless you like the scruffy mutt look)... I am so regretting this choice. The worst part about the whole thing... nobody there ever offered an apology... just a whole bunch of excuses. =( read more

I am very picky on groomers and had been very unhappy in the past at several places. Found Sarah at Petco through my rescue and I LOVE HER, as does my dog! She is gentle and so obviously very caring for her furry clients. My puppy did great with her, loved the way she spoke to him and he got the best haircut I've ever seen on any of my numerous dogs. They have gained a new customer in me for both my rescue puppies. Thanks Sarah! read more

Unless they're hiding in the back or something. Anyway, I won't be back, its not worth the annoyance of trying to beg for someone to help. Today was my son's 2nd birthday and we decided it would be fun to get a fish. We walked in to Petco on Bell Blvd and were greeted kindly by the staff and one team member was excited when we told her we were looking at fish. After looking around I asked her to set us up with the whole 9 yards. When she learned that we did not already have a tank at home things started to get a little wierd. Now I can appreciate someone veing passionate about their specialty and hers was obviously fish. But i cannot understand how I didnt walk out of that store with a fish. She explained that you needed to set the tank up first and have it grow bacteria and be stable if we wanted the fish we first selected. So i asked what kind of fish can we get today to bring home today for the kids birthday which is today?!? I asked about goldfish and the beta fish and wondered what happened to the days of putting a fish in a bowl and sprinkling some flakes in every day or so. And she told me they too need the same TLC. I thanked her and we went on looking around ourselves. At some point we just decided to go simple and get a beta and a little bowl so i again asked her what else she would recommed for the tank. She responded, "i really wouldnt recommend taking home a fish today" and "i dont think you will have a fish at home today." Unbelievable. I hope she understands that there are prolly 7 other petco/petsmart locations within 20mins of theirs. I visited 3 of them. Make the sale. Make someones day. Get the kid hooked up with a 5$ fish and call it a day. I hope she also understands how heartbreaking it is to buckle a crying kid into a carseat. Bummer :( read more

If I could give this place a 0, I would! This locations customer service is complete trash. I went there to get my rabbit a cage, but had questions due to the cages that were available and wanted a specific cage for my rabbit, I mean does anyone really even work here?? After waiting and waiting in the rabbit aisle I walked through the whole store, and still nothing so I went to the register and proceeded to wait even more, but this time I was waiting for the blonde girl to be done texting before I asked her a question, feeling like I inconveinenced her I apologized for interrupting her (insert eye roll here) Then I proceeded to ask her about the rabbit cages, she then looked at me and told me I am not sure, there is a lot going on right now...didn't offer to help find someone who could help, didnt offer help in anyway...and what exactly was going on?? Beats the shit out of me, no one was in the store,(maybe that should have been my cue to get out of there?) So I went back and just picked out a cage for the rabbit becasue she needs one now, got back to the register and not a word was spoken, I spent 105$ for the WORST customer service, and these people want raise increases, the fuck for??? This is why many and many more people are buying things on Amazon! I just bought an extended cage for my rabbit that cost my less than buying one from here and I got recommendations on cages AND a thank you!!! So as soon as it comes in I will just get a refund from this place and I will never come back to this store!! If I were you I would take your business else where... I heard Chewy.com is pretty great too for all your pets needs!! They also have a chat thing were people chat with you to make sure you find everything you need. read more

For some odd reason I find this Petco very friendly professional and easy to deal with, the first time I went in the product I initially wanted to purchase which was a bag of pre-mix salt for my reef tank they were out of stock of the generic or least expensive brand. The person check the back and then came up and said I could have the More expensive brand at the same price, it put a smile on my face, following up a few days later I went in to purchase an additional item and I asked if they price match they said yes, I showed the listing and they honored it it's a welcoming feeling to find corporate owned stores with the feeling of family own staff, thank you and I strongly recommend five stars all the way :-).. read more

SUPER lame customer service. I went in looking for some pond supplies since online, petco advertises a pond section. When I walked to the fish/aquarium section there was an employee speaking with a customer already. I waited around, however as soon as she finished with the customer the employee walked away. I continued to wait and look around for about 15 to 20 minutes hoping I would see another employee- no luck. From what I can tell they had no pond section or supplies. I did pick out one item and went to check out and hoped I could ask the the employee at the register the few questions I had. My first question, do they have pond baskets? The employee's response was a confused weird look so I said never mind, I'll take that as a no. And then I proceeded to show him a water conditioner especially made for ponds that I had found on Petco.com and asked if they had it in store since I could not find it. This employee could not help me or answer my questions and instead paged someone to the aquarium section and told me to go wait over there and ask my questions to another employee. So after walking back over to the fish section and waiting some more to get my questions answered... no one came. After several more minutes I just left. No purchase made and I don't plan on coming back I don't really expect knowledgeable staff at Petco or other big retail pet stores however it would be nice to have some decent customer service read more

They seem to have everything I need for my pups no matter what it is. The sweet raspy voiced little old lady who works the register most days, is a complete delight. The have a cool little dry treat area where you can mix and match all different treats and pay be weight. My dogs love the variety. They will match prices if you ask them too. read more

I took my daughters to Petco recently to consider purchasing a hamster. My girls were heartbroken as their two year old hamster had died about a week earlier. An employee was paged to come and assist us. The first thing Stephan said to us was, "Are you going to buy the hamster.?" I said, "What kind of question is that?" Stephan said, "Its store policy that we can't pull the hamster out unless you are going to buy it." I told Stephan, "We can't even see the hamster as he's completely concealed in his shelter." My girls were becoming noticeably upset by his resistant attitude so we left. I called Petco at 888-824-7257 to share our experience. The person I was speaking to had difficulty understanding me and I had difficulty understanding him due to a language barrier. I asked him to transfer me to someone more fluent in English. After waiting on hold for a long time, I hung up. As an American, I don't appreciate being outsourced to the Philippines to express concerns here in the United States. Petco and Stephan would do well to remember the retail adage, "Without the customer you don't exist." As palsrewards members we find this unacceptable and will take our business elsewhere. read more

Staff is unfriendly at this location, they seem like they don't want to work there. They also said I had to print off a coupon that I got from doing surveys for Petco. I have received over 6 of these before and never had a problem redeeming in store. After I said that I would just go elsewhere to get the supplies, the lady scanned the coupon... Is there a way to give these people less than one star? How about rating the manager who tries to cover for incompetency on the part of a groomer, by telling me that they only do poodle cuts in the Happy Valley store? They have a lady groomer who doesn't know an unaltered male from a female and who doesn't know her breeds. She couldn't tell that my dog was a poodle, which was really disturbing. An hour after he was left, she called me--and also my daughter- to run two differing stories past us: My story: the dog was difficult Her story: she was overbooked We took the dog to Petsmart and he got groomed easily; they said he was excellently behaved for a six month old puppy. We thought that the management would appreciate the feedback and made time to talk to them. The weekend manager, a male, was receptive. He probably would have called and spoken to the Petsmart groomer, but it was late in the day. He also told us the woman groomer would soon be replaced by a male counterpart. The female manager, however, sought to deflect obvious criticism from customers by telling us one of the selected stories, the one that the dog was difficult. When told that I would play the phone call about overbooking--the woman obviously didn't want to groom the dog--she told us poodles could only be groomed at the Happy Valley store, which is 45 minutes from where we live. Don't expect satisfaction from management and I am beginning to think that corporate at the lower echelons is tone deaf too! Do yourself a favor. Go to Petsmart. They don't specialize in specific breeds. They just groom dogs. And don't deal with Ceeda. She doesn't care about the customer. read more

Have been taking my dogs to the Petco near 59th and the Loop 101 but tried this one after moving to PHX...So far pretty disappointing. understaffed and told my dog would be ready to be picked up from groomer at 430 (3 hours after drop off).. well now the dog wont be ready until 530..i hope.. Lets see how it goes. considering other reviews I will be going to a new groomer most likely. read more
