I was just in there 1/12/25 at 2:20pm. The cashier asked me if I wanted to join their rewards program. I said no. For some reason she asked me again and was trying to pressure me into it. Again I said no. She seemed a little upset by this and any friendliness vanished from her. After the sales processed, she kind of gave me a cold thank you and didn't even give me my receipt. Listen, I am a brand manager and I work in marketing. I fully understand why you want peoples' personal information. I simply don't want sustained email and text marketing from you guys. I should not leave the store feeling bad. Like I did something wrong. Giving up your personal information should be respected. I'm never going back to this store. read more

The staff at Petco feels like a family team environment that is so positive to experience! I always feel welcome when I enter the store which makes me feel supported for my pet's needs, and when I have questions about my pet's care. I so appreciate the staff and how the store environment is so positive! I shop Petco for some supplies for my dog. My experiences there have been okay; however, I find that I have a difficult time finding what I am looking for at times. They don't stock Nutri Source dog food which I feed my dog so I purchase this online. The store itself seems a somewhat disorganized. The staff is friendly enough but it is hard to find anyone to help. There is plenty of parking nearby. I use Petco but not enthusiastically. read more

Patti is so so wonderful. My dog, Diesel, has been coming to her for nail trims for a few years and she has always been super patient and kind with him. This last week for the first time I had him groomed by Patti (bath, brush and nail trim) and HOLY HANNAH what a difference it makes! He has never been so nice smelling and dapper. She must have brushed off half his excess fur- MUCH appreciated. Patti- you are truly the best and I'm so glad we found you and PETCO. The inventory here is fine, the store has everything I need for my pet. My issue here is with the tellers at check out. They are extremely aggressive in getting you to sign up for the rewards program, berating you over and over again to sign up if you aren't part of the program. I just want to come in, get my pet supplies, and get out, and not get slammed over my head to sign up for their rewards program. read more

It's official this location has a racial bias towards black people. I received a call from the general manager saying I can go else where to Bloomington for service. The groomers refuses to cut our dog groomers Pattie and Louise. Why you ask? Because I was dissatisfied with the customer service and I voiced it. No I did not get a refund either. I reminded the manager of the praise that my dog received from the groomers telling me how well behaved and trained he was. I asked the manager if it's not the dogs behavior or temperament why the issue? During my last visit as I discussed my treatment "Louise stated you'll like any other black guy that comes in here". The manager then said he's uncomfortable talking about (race) this further. This is embarrassing to share but further action will be taken. Yes I recorded the phone call! read more

Louise at the Richfield location is AWESOME!! My dog 'Sovi' is 'excited' when I say we are going to see Louise. When we get there 'Sovi' rolls over to get a belly rub. We have been going to Louise for 4 years. Louise asks me which 'groom' style and I'm always happy when I pick her up. The grooming staff at Richfield are wonderful!! read more

i was at this petco location & saw something extremely disturbing. I was looking at the hamsters, & saw two syrian hamsters (labeled as teddy bears) in a small cage together. while looking at them, i noticed one laying on its back while the other one was burrowing into it. i quickly noticed bite marks on the one that was laying on its back & also realized the other hamster was biting it's hand. when they stopped, the hamster was covered in wounds on its hands & stomachs. with a quick google search, anyone can find out that syrian hamsters are solitary & must be separated from littermates at 8 weeks otherwise they engage in this behavior. i was extremely disturbed & notified an employee right away, who told me that "it's ok" & they were just "cuddling & grooming" each other. I was very taken aback & throughout the rest of my visit at this store i didn't see any other employees check on the two hamsters. as a long time hamster owner, as well as someone who has done throughout research on proper hamster care, I cannot believe the disturbing behavior i witnessed. i will not be returning to this location again. this place is not only uneducated, but ignorant. read more

I stop in here every once in awhile to dream...I used to have a 60 Gallon tank. The fish department is OK for your start up fish enthusiast and the service is great here. I purchased a 1.5 gallon tank at the goodwill (Ha Ha)and bought some frogs and shrimp for the tank from here. The tanks here can get pretty expensive (see Walmart) but they carry the basics as I stated earlier for the beginner. The employees here are great and friendly store is well kept with plenty of parking. read more

Update to the update to the update? Yup. I got my dogs groomed here this weekend and am VERY happy with the results. They came back to me very soft, clean in all of the areas pugs need to be clean (I didn't even need to remind the groomer about the face folds) AND wearing gender specific (pink for Ruby and blue for Carl) bandanas. I can't even begin to explain how much I hate those stupid little bows my usual groomer puts on their colllars. Oh, and they didn't SMELL like they had been groomed. Actually, they didn't smell at all which I think is a good thing. I got there a little early while Carl was still on the table and he looked like he was having the time of his life. As silly as it sounds, I'm always a little concerned that their are secretly being raked over hot coals or something when I leave them. At a very reasonable $22 per dog, I'm definitely switching over to Petco for grooming. read more

I've come here every 6 weeks for ~3 years for my dog (35 lb lab mix) to get a bath and nail trim. Patti is great with my dog! My dog is reactive to other dogs so initially I was nervous to bring her to a groomer but the whole staff is so great about accommodating her, and they never make me feel bad about it. The real deal here at Petco is Vetco, the low cost vaccination clinic for dogs and cats. Check the website for locations and hours, typically Saturdays and Sundays, morning and afternoon hours, now it looks like they have clinics on Thursday evenings. The clinics are in the back of the store with a licensed veterinarian who can advise and administer vaccinations. You can register your dog online, there isn't any paper forms to fill out. Cats should arrive in kennels, dogs should be leashed. You can get low cost heart worm meds, flea and tick preventative at lower costs and if you don't buy it that same day you can always return at a later date and pick it up. The heart worm tests should require a heat worm test. Pick up any other supplies you need while your there as there's usually a wait. read more

I frequent this Petco, even though it's slightly out of the way.... because I feel that they have a better selection of items than the PetSmart in Richfield. Plus I think their prices are a tad bit less. Haven't checked out the groomers yet, but will definitely check them out soon - - since I have long-haired dachsie. Clean store, the staff is always friendly and doesn't appear to have the turn over of teen aged workers of other stores. They do have knowledge of where items. Smaller location - not a large selection of fish and no pet training area. Carry the Wellness Brand of food and have the $5 rewards for every $100 sent. We have used the groomers here. They do a good job of cutting bichon's hair as requested. read more

The grooming service was great. My dog can be a little skittish, but the grooming staff at the Richfield, MN Petco work with her perfectly. The complaint I have is with the check-out process. I wanted to tip the groomer with cash, but was told that this Petco did not do cash back and when I asked to get change for a $5.00 bill I was told that the register couldn't be opened. This was frustrating and really good customer service. Petco, you have good people but poor policies. Please get with it. read more

Terrible service the employee SARAH Richfield MN location pretended to be a manager she was just a new employee rude, bad customer services who only was able to tell me all the thing she could not do for me to help me she was NEVER positive I really don't ever want to step a foot into that store but real real supervisor was helpful and great customer service skills she knows how treat customers anyways if I see that employee again even if I have to go to a different location far from there I will!! read more

4 stars for how nicely they treated my very fussy beagle during a toenail trim. We brought him in muzzled, and the woman came out and sat on the floor with us and did a great job quickly cutting his nails, and being sweet to a very scared pooch. Totally worth the 10 bucks. read more

I've taken both of my dogs there for years for nail trims and although my pointer hated the whole process (or even someone touching her feet), they always treated all of us well and not a huge pain in the butt for a job that was not easy with a squirming dog who did not want to be there. read more

Do yourself a favor and go to a locally owned shop. This place is EXPENSIVE-almost double the price of what I paid last time I went to a local shop. I picked my dog up and she was still covered in loose hair and if I pay EIGHTY DOLLARS for a grooming she better be perfect. I asked them to get the rest of the hair and they acted like I was totally out of line. Needless to say they got no tip from me. I wish there was on option to choose no stars because that what they deserve. read more

Dog Grooming: I LOVE it! I have had several dogs that require grooming every couple months, so I am very familiar with many different groomers in Minneapolis area. Currently I have two rescue dogs, one that is very sensitive and fearful. I have brought him to several different groomers, only to have him be terrified afterwards. This location was the only place that he did not come home shaking and is ok with going back to. The staff is awesome! They remember me and my puppies every time I come and I feel that they truly care about my dogs. My other dog gets so excited when we pull up to Petco and can't wait to get in there! Surprising since he hates baths. I highly recommend using this location for grooming! read more

Richfield Petco is DANGEROUS! A year ago, the automatic sliding door at the exit slammed closed on me as I walked through. I managed to get out of the way before it crushed me, but was very bruised. I told the manager, who was defensive, "What do you want? An ambulance?" he snapped. No, I just wanted him to know so he could prevent someone else from getting hurt. He said he couldn't block off that exit. A year later, I return and THE DOOR HASN'T BEEN FIXED. It lurched closed at me as I walked through. Apparently, the door will not be serviced until a person or animal is crushed to death. I won't EVER be returning. Too risky. read more
