My son and I really enjoy coming to this petco. I always make sure that I have plenty of time so we can walk around and look at the different animals/pets. We discussed their care items and what it takes to take care of them. My son is a toddler so he is too young to take care of many of these animals now but in the future I plan to get him fish and a rescue dog. We currently have one cat that he does well with (maybe too many treats are given) So we love this pecto because the associates are so helpful and patient. Yesterday we met and spoke with a lady from a cat rescue. We always donate, even if it is only a couple dollars. Also this location has a large variety of products for our cat. I actually use an independent pet store when at home, but we knew that Petco would have the brand of chow that Sassy prefers. Store was well laid out, we found our food quickly. Sassy was a little disappointed that they had so many vacancies in the small mammal department, she likes to observe the various rodents. I think people expect prices to be lower in these big box pet stores, but my experience is that they are about the same, and sometimes lower, at the independents. read more

It's easy to find what you're looking for. The staff is friendly. I have 2 cats so the cat food aisle is always orderly & organized - I never have to ask if they have more in the back or anything; plus they have more selection of certain cat foods that others don't carry like Rabbit, Venison etc. The only down side is the parking lot but it shares the lot with the Trader Joe's & lets face it all Trader Joe's parking lots are full of crazy people fighting for a parking spot. read more

I took my little corgi in this afternoon for a grooming service. Damara is always so excited to see Chewbacca when we arrive, and she does a fantastic job while he is there. Corgi's shed a LOT, and Damara takes the time to brush him out above and beyond what any other grooming company would provide. We really appreciate her help! read more

Best pet store chain around. Parking is usually bad because of the grocery store and best buy. Usually lots of help on weekends but not on week nights, like tonight... Thursday night. Many items to choose from. Prices are fair, some items are better from that dr. Xy&z Internet store, but this is convenient, especially for dog food. Don't see anyone in aquatics, but their main wall of tanks looks clean, but their saltwater nano tank and frag tank needs cleaning and help. Wouldn't buy anything out of those. Has plenty of things for dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, fish, small animals, etc. usually has pet adoptions on weekends. Overall it's a pretty clean store. Checkout can either be fast when they have two checkers or very slow with one and then they call someone else up to check. I'd recommend this store to most pet owners. read more

A one star is too good.. I do not know what has happened to this place but I am even stopping my online orders. I went in due to receiving the wrong product from the online store and that is where it began. The cashier didn't know what to d so she called the manager. The Manager never came and a young man named Hunter finally showed up.. I told him the issue and he went to find the correct items. After walking back and forth for about 30 mins telling me he was still looking, still looking and than POOF... I never saw him again. I was there for around 45 mins and I was getting upset. I asked for him and I was told "HE WENT HOME" He literally left me standing around. So completely disrespectful that I have no words. I MEAN NO WORDS for this... I have been going to Petco for years. Nothing special, just dog food. Try to avoid it for other things as they are pretty expensive. But today's experience was worth commenting on. While looking for our usual dog food, we were approached by a nice older lader who represented Nutro dog food. We previously used nutro, but had been trying another brand for a year or two. She was so informative about the Nutro brand thay she was able to get us to switch, although not in a sales person way. It was nice to have someone there from a particular brand to give us information. read more

Fun place, good animal selection and they have a Petco PALS card. There a couple small critter adoption tanks. As well as a several cats in cages. They have exotic hamsters I've never heard of. They have a machine to make custom collars and a grooming area. They also have dog training. While looking at water tanks for our pets we witnessed 2 dog "graduations" they play a graduation walking song and have them do a walk around the store, funny. The customer service is blah, especially when checking out they dont hide the fact that theyd rather do anything but be ringing you out.. I want to give a shout out to my local Petco- bouquet canon Santa Clarita, for taking exceptional care of my pup since the first day I had him. The training team is terrific and Kat from the grooming team is an amazing stylist. She is capable of being sweet and gentle to my little pup like he was her own , while giving him the cutest haircuts. The guy got the fish in the little plastic thing with some water...walks over to the counter and filled the bag with the water half way and the reaches in to touch the fish so he stops sucking on the side and he lets go of the bag. The bag falls over all the water spills on the floor. So he pours the rest of the water in the bag, leaving the fish with no water. Again reaches trying to get the fish with his hand, letting go of the bag, the water spills all over the floor and he's smacking the plastic thing with the fish in it to get it to come out. Puts the fish in the bag with a tiny amount of water and goes and gets water out of a random tank to refill the bag. Was a disaster...traumatized fish. Called the customer service line to get help since I was there yesterday and bought a beta fish and a African dwarf frog. I was barely given help yesterday and today I called with questions and the girl on the phone was also very unhelpful. She was very condescending and made me feel like I was dumb and should already know the answer to my questions. Went there to purchase some things for our dogs as well as some mice (pets). The service was horrible!!!! The one employee was rude and dismissive to us as well as to my 9 year old son. Initially she ignored our ask for assistance and then she was rude when she helped us. She thought my sister was under 18 (in actuality she is 28) and totally dismissed and ignored her. Overall, I am very satisfied with the setvice here. I recently got a Husky that was 8 weeks old. And it is my first dog i ever had. I believe his name was Chris that was helping me in the food section and gave me numerous recommendations on how to take care of my dog. He also recommended what dog food to get my puppy and spr ified on how to feed it later on. He told me huskies might be more chicken based or fish base. I am slowly figuring that my dog likes chicken more than salmon. All the staff and the guests are friendly. The only downside I see from this store are the prices. I think the stuff are overpriced by a few dollars but I guess that is the downside of having only a few big pet stores. read more

Due to the global pandemic most appointments are wait out scheduled WEEKS in advance. however this particular location ha CANCELLED my dog's appointment 4 times! They say: we were over booked, we are short on staff, etc. It is ALWAYS my dog that they cancel, every single time. There is some underlying DISCRIMINATION going on at this place! out of all the dogs that they pick to cancel they always pick my dog. very inconvenient because when THEY give you a schedule it is not even when you are available, it is when it's convenient for them! so you plan your day and sometimes getting time off work to get to the appointment ONLY TO BE TOLD THE DAY OFF THAT YOU ARE BEING CANCELLED! inconsiderate, unprofessional read more

First of all, I have never been a fan of any Petco. I will say that this is the best one I have ever been in...but that isn't really saying much. First of all I think the grooming is a bit overpriced. I would prefer to go to Petsmart for my dog grooming needs. The have a good selection of toys and clothes for dogs and cats. Food wise. They have healthier stuff at Pet supply. Now, I'm not hating on the staff. But I'm wondering if Petco management trains their staff to sound condescending. There are maybe three cashiers that I enjoy talking too. Aside from that if I ask anyone else a question I seem to be treated like I have never owned an animal before. Which I take offence to since I grew up on a farm and have own every type of animal except snakes and lizards. I am not boiling in anger over this, but instead find it quite strange that I find this attitude in every petco I have ever walked into. Anyway, Its not a horrible place. I am so disappointed with how petco is treating the animals in their care. We went in with my daughter today and saw an obviously very sick guinea pig out for sale. Not only was this poor animal in serious need of medical attention but we was in with what appeared to be a perfectly healthy Guinea pig. Shouldn't a sick animal at the very least be quarantined? And why isn't he receiving medical attention? No one is clearly going to buy such a diseased animal, they are just leaving him there to die. Tried to bring it to the attention of the workers but they didn't appear to be too concerned at all. They have lost my business permanently. read more

Kim is the best groomer for my husky! My dog used to hate the groomer but now .. now she absolutely loves it! I stopped going to my other groomer because my dog hated it so much. I tried Petco in a hurry and thinking it would be a one time thing until I found another salon outside a corporate chain. After I met Kim at Petco and I saw how happy my dog was when I picked her up, I knew I had found someone special. My dog chose Kim as her groomer! I give Kim all the credit for this. My dog comes home smelling so good and sheds less and she loves going and coming home. read more

O.k The lady in the fish dept is just awesome. I love how she decorates the fish tanks and is so knowledgeable and helpful. She answered all my questions and is just a nice lady. I called because one of my fish was eating the other fish and I didn't want him to die. So she told me about the adoption tank, I brought that fish in and he will be adopted out. :) I feel so much better. 5 Stars to her! First of all I want to say that assistant manager Nick provides EXCELLENT customer service. However corporate policy is not customer friendly. Be careful and do not buy on line using PayPal. Apparently the store will not provide refunds for items purchased on line with PayPal. I went to the store to pick up a pet gate I purchased on line. Once I opened the box in the parking lot it was clear my small dog would not fit through the small opening at the bottom of the gate. I returned to the store 5 minutes after picking up the item. The cashier told me the system would not let her issue a refund and I would have to take a store credit. When Zi asked for a manager Nick got involved. He called customer service and waited about 15 minutes for them to answer. He was able to have them credit back my pay pal account. So Nick gets 5 stars and Petco Inc gets 0 for their sneaky pay pal policy. This results in stars. Bottom line is don't buy in line unless you hBe to and if you do don't use PayPal. read more

I have a very large, very hyper dog who hates water. I can never give him a bath myself, and it has taken me years to find someone who can. I was very pleased with the overall service I got from Petco grooming, and Josh was soooo good at washing my dog, that I take him for a bath every couple weeks. He was very patient, and makes my dog smell good without causing him the trauma baths usually give him. read more

I have been using the Petco grooming services for over 10 years they do an average job. I go there because Trader Joes is next door. Evidently they don't do dogs that show signs of aging or are 19 years of age even if healthly. While they can refuse service to anyone including me, They instead put me through a lot of humiliation trying to find an excuse not to groom my dog. I called in for a Shampoo, they said they would not groom him. They said he was having trouble standing up on the tables. I said use a towel or mat he slips on smooth surfaces. I went on to say, We were in twice in the last two months the last groomer said there were no problems. I said, if there was a problem they should have told me. (I ask every visit.). I told the groomer I only wanted a shampoo. The groomer says ok. I go down with my dog they say he has to past a walk test for the shampoo. He does. They now don't want to shampoo him. The groomer says talk to the manager of Petco. I do, and The manager says,I can only have the Zoom Groom. I say I just want the shampoo! The dog passes another walk test in front of the manager. The manager asks the groomer, if she wants to do the shampoo. I even tell the groomer, she does not have to do it, if she does not want to, its ok. She says, she wants to do the job, and tells the manager and me what she will do, including file the dogs nails. The end result of this is I get a phone call in about thirty minutes from the groomer who says they are not going to finish the dog. When I come in to pick up the dog, they give me the dog wet and unfinished. The groomer says, he was " a little floppy "when putting him in the tub, She said, he then peed on the floor! Really He's wet how can you tell! It is obvious they made up excuses because they don't want me to come back in, even for the Zoom Groom. And after, seeing the complaints and Lawsuits filed against Petco grooming, and similar stores. I think it is best not to go to any Large Pet stores for grooming especially if grooming a Senior dog. They acted Unprofessional and wasted my time. They did not charge me, for this service, and I am sure its because they knew I would complain. In a world of supermarket pet stores this PetCo is not very Super. This store deals in your basics, birds, fish, dogs, cats, reptiles and vermi...I mean small fluffy creatures. And I will tell you they do none of it well. They carry the typical chain foods and supplies for the above mentioned animals but they fall completely flat when it comes to customer service. Staff are rarely ever helpful and the store has become incredibly run down over the years. Aisles appear to be rarely swept, and while not a huge deal realize people bring their animals in, and if they don't sweep what makes you think they MOP? The fish section is dismal, they offer saltwater and freshwater but no one here is knowledgeable enough to tell the public how to actually CARE for them. Tanks are dimly lit and most of them have dead or dying fish. The only saving grace is they sell tank raised fish, but at the same time mix them with wild caught fish (huge problem). They sell a handful of birds including smaller parrots, but because of minimal human interaction the hand tamed birds become caged birds pretty quick. The ONE nice thing about this place is they recently began selling Wellness Core which is the only food I will feed my dog, but I'm not sure if the 5 dollar savings is worth the lack of anything resembling a knowledgeable and caring staff. If you can try to hit some of the smaller pet stores in the area to buy, it's worth paying a little extra to support mom and pop. read more
