Waste of time coming here to try to get my cat groomed. I had called almost a month ago to make this appointment and spoke to Jeanette which is the grooming manager or something. When I called they told me I needed prof of the vaccines but never was told to take the rabies certificate. Second as a cat groomer when someone is calling for service, shouldn't the cat groomer ask if the cat is aggressive when bathing or how do they behavior to determine if they cal groom the cat, well the groomer never did until I showed up. When I told Jeanette that he does get aggressive with bathing, which is normal for cats, she's like well if he's to aggressive or if he does hiss one time that's it I won't groom him and you need to come get him. If all this was said over the phone I would of never made an appointment and wasted my time. Apparently they want cats that don't hiss and like bathing! Besides that she was rude and gave attitude. Do not call yourself a cat groomer if you can't even groom a cat. She needs better customer service and needs to know how to explain things over the phone. Again waste of time. read more

Please don't ever take your pets to the Pet Grooming here. I've taken my taken my puppies to the Vetco here and never had any problems and I like this PetCo for the most part. The staff is usually very friendly so I thought the Grooming would be no different, but I was so wrong. Right off the bat they were very rude and had an attitude. They were very short with us and not very helpful with questions I had. Then when it came time to take them back one of the groomers there was very forceful with the "leash" they use, to the point where she was choking my puppy. Then when I got them back, they're nails were so sloppily clipped that the looked borderline ready to crack and their scratches hurt worse than when they had long nails. I rarely will complain about a place or service, but this Petco grooming was so bad I had to. I don't care how cheap it was I'm never taking my dogs there again. read more

If i could give 0 stars i would. I Had made an appointment with my pet here and no one showed up. The lady who opened said they'd contact me asap yet no one did. So i called politely telling the manager i could only make an appointment on the weekend since they could not fit me in, due to their stylist not showing up. The manager kept trying to make me come in on a week day after i specified i could not as i work. We eventually found a weekend for my pet to come in which wasn't until 2 weeks later. The week of, a few days before my appointment, Petco randomly cancels my appointment stating i had rescheduled it for a monday and that i had missed my appointment. I never did, so i called and they told me a random man told them they could reschedule me. i knew something was wrong because My number is mine only and has been for over 10 years and i am a female. No man has access to my phone. i was upset as my pet has been waiting for weeks from their previous appointment, but kindly asked the manager for my appointment back as i did not reschedule. they refused to give me my appointment back since some made up person gave it away and kept pushing me to take a weekday appointments that were weeks away even though i specified multiple times i can't. I have come for years and never had an issue until this. Ultimately They kept promising me a solution and to call, which i did, and failed to give me an appointment/solution for my poor sweet boy. In the end i have not been able to resolve this issue with them. I understand how difficult customer service is when things are out of your control. That is why i have done my best to be kind as i know most people are just following directions, yet no one here even really cared to help. I felt bad for my poor dog that was promised services only for Petco to care less about making things right. I even called corporate to get help for not only me, but hopefully that no one else and their poor pet has to deal with it. Instead they took away my ability to now make appointments because i had requested multiple times, a solution for this issue. Very disspointed in Petco for their lack of customer service. I defintely wont be a customer anymore nor would i recommend Petco or their grooming services as they clearly lacked any care for the pets coming in. read more

WORST EXPERIENCE EVERRRRR!!!! I take my dog every month to get groomed and its usually at the Pico Rivera Petsmart but instead I decided to take her (a one year old staffordshire bull terrier) here and that was a HUGE MISTAKE!!! I arrived early to pick her up because I wanted to get some shopping done (Halloween costume) and as I was in the store they called me on my cell phone and over the loud speaker that my dog was ready to be picked up but something was wrong with her eye. Mind you that she was COMPLETELY HEALTHY and HAPPY before I dropped her off. I walked over and there she was with one eye puffy, shut and in pain. They told me she had just gotten soap in her eye and she SHOULD be fine in 2 HOURS and gave me some eye wash that they had already put on her. To my knowledge Petco uses tearless shampoo on pets and I found it strange how it irritated her eye. As I left I noticed she kept trying to scratch her eye and was crying and I quickly read online that I should take her to a hospital because it could cause PERMANENT eye damage. After calling around to several locations because it is a Sunday and many hospitals close early I finally found one that was open and it turns out that her cornea had been severely scratched and the veterinarian mentioned that anyone with any pet experience would have known to NEVER use an eye wash after being infected with another ointment. He then gave us 3 different medications to apply everyday and she has to keep the plastic cone around her neck to prevent her from scratching (which is more uncomfortable) and that its just going to take some time to heal. After dropping her off at my parents house so she can sleep, I went back to Petco and they mentioned that they did bright white, a product that contains brightening optical agents, which makes a white coat extremely bright and clean. They said it was ONLY used it on her stomach but I find that very difficult to believe because she has a white stripe between her eyes and that had to be the cause of her eye being infected and shut. Its not over yet, I still have to take her to her own vet in three days but I'm planning on taking her tomorrow because of the discomfort shes experiencing and puss that is covering now both her eyes. I sure hope that there won't be any permanent damage and that it heals properly. I have no idea what kind of training/certification Petco's employees go through to become groomers since they all look as if they are still in High School and seem to be unaware of the products/chemicals they are using to bathe our pets. I was planning on taking her to a Halloween dog parade in Long Beach today but instead she's home crying in pain. My dog is constantly wagging her tail and since I've brought her home she just cries and moans. I want my happy/energetic dog back!!!! :( For all you dog lovers out there, find a more suitable establishment where they seem more educated, after all its your dogs health thats at risk. read more

This is a good pet store. They have everything you need for your pets. They have the perfect food and leashes. They have name tags and they also have pets to sale. They have a really good staffs. And the employees are really nice. And they do grooming services too. This is a good pet store with healthy pets, food , bones and service. read more

I really like this Petco because of their puppy playtime. The trainer Jessica does a great job with socialization. But as of yesterday Petcos are now reducing the number of puppies allowed at the playtime to 6. So its first come first served, its to bad. I really liked having my puppy meet a lot of different breeds and learn how to deal with small and large breeds. I'll have to call customer relations to voice my displeasure at their recent change. Other than that this Petco is large, clean, and pretty decently supplied. I highly encourage the puppy playtime here! read more

I wanted to look for hamsters, but was disappointed to find that half of the glass cubes were empty.. And there were only two hamsters... Not a great variety to choose from. They also had only one rabbit... So basically their inventory needs to restock~ however they do have a great selection on fishes. I used to love this petco, but not anymore. Took my dog there for grooming and they did a terrible job. I will never go back to this petco. No customer service- they just don't care. If my dog could talk, I'm sure she would let me know how poorly they treated her. I'm sure she was caged up for 3 hours and it would have been longer if I hadn't called to check up on her because the groomer was out to lunch and the workers could not tell me when she was returning or what stage of grooming my dog was at when I called. The grooming place I normally use is closed due to construction and my furry baby needed a bath ASAP. Petco gave me a reasonable price quote and were able to accommodate me with a same day appointment. The groomer was very attentive to the grooming request on my pooch. Unfortunately, my furry baby didn't take to a new groomer and they weren't able to finish the hair cut due to their new rule that they can't place a muzzle on doggies. My doggie was being temperamental. She only charged me for a bath. I greatly appreciated the honesty and integrity of her service. I will be definitely be coming back for bathing. read more

The customer service here has always been great, when you can find someone to help you. I always try to make my presence obvious when I am waiting in the fish department for someone to come and help me, but if there isn't anyone in the fish department at that time it seems that none of the other employees will even check to see if you need assistance. There isn't a bell or buzzer or any way to Signal the fish person that you are there waiting. Consequently, you can stand around seemingly forever and nobody will even check to see why you're standing there. Today they were actually more employees in the store then there were customers but they all walk by at a distance and don't make eye contact as they pass. This is ashame. The last two times I went up ask for help, but today the person at the register had made a mistake and was about to try and fix it with another customer so I just decided I would leave and go to PetSmart instead. read more

Eh I like this store but ehh, I'll say I've had better . The man who helped me pick out puppy food was informative and helpful but when I went to find my friend she was looking at the cats. Of course because she loves kitties & is looking for another fur baby for her Prince Charming she already has. Anywho she walked up to look at the cats and when she did a lady was there and actually had an attitude about her asking questions, I was like hmm ok don't you want them to get adopted?? I guess not. Grooming experience: This would be a zero stars experience. First I tried making an appointment on Thursday at 7:50 and was put on hold for 10 minutes before being told the girl left. I called back Friday and got an appointment for Saturday at 4:30pm, I thought I'd give them a second chance maybe the girl didn't know a call was on hold. When I arrived for my appointment I was not greeted at all. I was asked if I had an appointment. When the first girl realized I wasn't there for her she walked away to get the girl I assumed would be grooming my dog. I said hi to her she completely ignored me and I assume started checking in my dog on the computer. She then asked how short I would like her cut. I picked a medium length which she automatically said would be extra because my dog is heavily matted. Mind you she hasn't even touched my dog let alone look at her for more than two seconds. I said she isn't matted I brush her regularly. She then proceeded to grab a metal comb and yank on her hair so hard she yelped in front of me. I'm not a groomer but I know she can be brushed with a slicker brush first then combed out. This groomer was not caring at all and extremely lazy, I couldn't believe she had the nerve to treat my 7lb dog like that in my arms. I immediately left. I WILL NEVER bring my dogs here! read more

I should say I usually receive excellent customer service at this Petco. However, this time, 11/3/17, the staff person was NOT helpful AT ALL. I asked him about an item I needed and asked about the most inexpensive type. He looked at me in a condescending way, then POINTED in the back and said I could look in the back foe the cheapest one. I said I didnt want that kind but a step above that, and then he said look in the dog section. Typically, the staff will walk you to the section and help you and give advice. This guy was detached and condescending. I was in a hurry because my cat had just had surgery that day and I needed a new comfortable carrier for him, but I was intent on getting the best one for the price. I ended up going to Petsmart and was treated with respect and hospitality. And found the perfect item for a great price. 25 percent less than the price of the cheapest item at Petco. read more

I'm honestly really upset with these people. I called in the morning to see if they had anything available and they said no, then called me back a minute later and said they did have an opening today at 1:30pm I took the appointment dropped her off called them at 5pm to see what was going on since no one had called me yet and they said she would be ready in 20 minutes. They didn't call me back until 6:02pm, I was already driving up because I was worried why they were taking so long and I was going to check on her. 4 almost 5 hrs?!?!?! Are you kidding me? When I got her I was going to pay first but I changed my mind and I'm glad I did because when I saw her they cut her hair so short, her face looked semi trimmed. Not to mention on top of her grooming package($46) I purchased a $22 =$68package to pick 3 extra services and I chose one for her tear stains "blueberry facial". Her face looked like if I would wash it at home with no soap. I booked a bath for her next week and asked if they always take that long and told her that I thought they cut her hair really short and she said well next time we will do it a longer length. (Umm that's what I asked for the beginning Lady!! Trim and bath that's it!) I just left to pay and I asked to speak to a manger. I was so upset because I was already letting my dogs hair grow for a couple months. The manager understood and told me there had been several complaints with Jessica the groomer and told me they would speak to her. I didn't have to pay for my groom but I did keep my appointment for a bath next week just not with her. My fellow pet owners should understand how frustrating this could be when people don't take their job serious and you're relying on them give the best service to your pet. Long story not so short I would have paid if there was no other choice but 68$ never would I have came back, the manager said I didn't have to because she understood and I'm sure she saw how upset I was. DO NOT take your dogs to be groomed here!!! I took my puppy in and asked for certain things to be done like having her anal glands expressed. They told me they would do it. I made the appointment for 8:30am but no one came until 8:40am. They then acted like they had been there all along and it was my fault for waiting. When I asked for a discount they could only offer me $5! When I picked my puppy up after she was 'groomed' they just handed her to me without reviewing what they had done. They also said 'if you don't ask for certain things to be done we won't do it.' Seems to me that they don't care much about offering a good service. I could also tell that they did not do an acceptable job with my puppy. She was still shedding. They told me that happens. Not true! I also took my puppy to the vet a few days after for another reason. Come to find out her anal glands were full and had not been touched even though petco told me they did it. I called the manager & requested a full refund which she gave me. She did not even apologize. She just said, "have a nice day." Not acceptable! Customer service is horrible here!!! read more

My review is mostly about the customer service I received rather than the store itself - it's always clean but they never really seem to have a lot. Maybe just because it's a smaller store? But I went to buy my new pup a few essentials & I was given the welcome home package by the cashier & he told me what food was best for him, even brought me a free bag that I got a coupon for in the booklet. Turns out the collar was too huge On him and the retractable leash I got him kept getting stuck. I didn't have the receipt anymore but I called to see if I can get store credit possibly. I spoke to (sorry if I misspelt the name!) Marikah (Muh Rye Kuh) & she said to come before 1pm, ask for her & she would be able to help me out.
