DO NOT USE THIS GROOMER!!!! I have had a couple decent experiences with the Maize Rd. Petco grooming... however, I have also had terrible experiences and I am tired of them causing me hundreds in vet bills. The first time I took my dog to Petco, they did not dry his ears properly which resulted in a $150 vet bill. Another time, I brought up my concern and told them to please dry out his ears and they said they didn't get water in his ears and that they used an alcohol based cleaner. Can you guess what happened? Yep, you got it! Same as before, another $150 vet bill and my dog feeling terrible for weeks. I had a couple decent grooms after that, but this last week something happened again... can you guess what it was? YEP! Another double ear infection due to improper cleaning of the ears. This time, it was so bad the vet was able to remove significant amounts of water from both ears 3 days after the bath and it resulted in a $300 vet bill and a month long program to get him healthy again. Please note that we bathe him regularly and never have this issue because we don't shoot water directly into his ears. Quite frankly, I am entirely fed up and I STRONGLY recommend NOT using this Petco unless you like averaging $300+ per haircut (including vet bills), and a sick dog. P.S. the customer service is also terrible. They don't really listen to any instructions on the cut and they will ignore you for long periods of time (45+ minutes). You will actually save money if your dog to a real groomer due to the negligence induced vet bills. AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL !!! read more

went here for mother's day pictures, i usually go to petsmart for santa or easter pictures but i saw petco had mother's day pictures and thought it'd be fun to take my furbaby. i called ahead to see if they are participating at this location they say yes. i get there and im unsure of really where to go as when i usually go to petsmart they are very upbeat and ready to take my picture. i ask the cashier he seems confused and says we don't have anything like that i point to the backdrop and ask is this where were supposed to do it he thinks im pointing at plants and says no this is all plants. stephen the cashier is an absolute idiot and i wouldn't trust anything he says regarding pets. finally the manager says yes it's right over here but it's just very unorganized and nobody seemed like they wanted to even be apart of this. i will never come back here. and the backdrop had nothing to do with mother's day. i suggest petco as a whole never try this again. petsmart is better for pictures. read more

Brought my pittie mix here for her spay surgery and the vet staff took amazing care of her. They kept me updated on her status throughout the day following her surgery, and thoroughly explained the recovery process. I couldn't have asked for a better experience at Vetco. 10/10 recommend, especially if you're having trouble finding a clinic with spay/neuter openings. Pricing was reasonable as well! I never thought I'd take my dog to Petco's vet clinic for an invasive surgery, but overall it was a great, smooth experience. Now she's a happy girl with no chance of babies and no more periods! Took my dog to be groomed and was beyond disappointed! The groomer and I discussed the matting on her stomach but she assured me that except behind her ears a bit, she would not be shaved. She examined the dog thoroughly before I left and we decided on a length. I was told it would be 2 1/2 hours. 5 1/2 hours later my dog was shaved and the $57 bath/groom was now $70 before tax. ???? I'm told they charged $7 extra for the shaving and an additional $6 for the shampoo???!!!! I was told that they starting charging for shampoo after covid. The grooming service requested was not completed. I made it clear my dog was frightened of anything that makes noise and the blow dryer terrifies her. So, they use the blow dryer anyway and then wonder why my dog nips at her. Then my dog is banned from the salon because she nipped at the groomer. My dog has been groomed before without incident, but that was because the groomer used other methods to dry her instead of the blow dryer. So, not only was my dog traumatized during her session, then she was punished for her reaction by being banned from the salon. read more

The worst grooming service, bar none! First they cut my pet to the point of stitches, but they apologized, offered care for his cuts and a free cut next time, so I gave them a second chance and returned to redeem free grooming. On my scheduled day, they cancelled my appointment and didn't bother calling. Strike two. We rescheduled, trough I was upset about he lack of service. We returned today and the groomer accused our 12 lb. poodle mix dog, who has never bitten or snipped at anyone EVER in his 11 years of life, of being "aggressive." Stated that she wouldn't groom him because she doesn't have a muzzle..... A. You're at Petco and don't have a muzzle? B. Did you ever consider that maybe you're just terrible with dogs? C. Goodbye forever Petco. You have completely lost our business and all of our friends and family who love our dog and know him as well as we do, unlike your crappy grooming department. read more

Upon entering you will see that it is very spacious and with lots of options. We frequent the cat section and they have many options from kittens to elderly cats. LOTS of cat toys and other cat related items They also offer pet grooming and have kittens up for adoption and usually has someone from the Joy Shelter and they are very informational. My dog was put to sleep today because Taylor said she bite her on the wrist. There was no marks on Taylor, she wouldn't allow me to photo the wrist. Or make a copy or see the video of the incident. My pet and home owners insurance says that if my dog bites someone it's a vicious dog and my insurance would have tripled as to where I couldn't afford it. Now all I lived for is dead. I recently signed up for Petco's Vital Care, as it made a lot more financial sense for me to get my dog's nails trimmed there twice a month than for me to go to my regular vet. Included with the Vital Care is free vet visits at the new Vetco Veterinary Hospital that opened today (Friday, April 30th) at the New Market Square Petco. My dog (a year old Yorkie) wasn't feeling well earlier this week and has had what our vet told us was really bad allergies so I figured I'd take advantage of the free visit and have them check him out today and see if we needed to increase his allergy medicine dosage. First of all, the appointment was beyond easy to schedule online and I got confirmation messages via email and text. The office also sent me texts and emails the day before and the hour before the visit to help me prep for dropping my dog off (due to COVID precautions). All the vet techs were professional, kind, courteous, and very welcoming when we came in. They were very apologetic as today was the first day the hospital was open and the computers were being slow, but I didn't care about that. These vet techs were also so friendly and gentle with my overly anxious puppy and he behaved the best I've seen and heard about from the vet techs at our other vet. They asked me to wait in my car or the store while the vet saw him and they asked whether they should email or text me the consent for treatment forms. I chose to have them text me the link and I'm so thankful for this option because it told me a very descriptive range (showed as "low" price range to "high" price range) of how much the possible treatments for would be for my dog. As it turns out, my dog doesn't have allergies but instead has both a bacterial and fungal infection under his front two legs; we had just seen our regular vet two weeks ago for a vaccination and they just looked at his raw skin from his itching, told me over the phone it was allergies, and to give him 1/4 of an adult Benadryl pill and "that should solve it". Two weeks later, he's still itching like crazy and I'm so thankful this Petco took a skin sample from under my dogs legs and looked at it under a microscope to discover these infections rather than just look and tell me it's allergies like my other vet. Unfortunately the medications to clear these infections are a bit pricey, but I'll gladly pay them so my puppy can finally have relief from his itching and sore skin. I already frequent this Petco and the staff is so helpful and kind whenever I visit... this Vetco now has a new permanent customer due to their kindness, professionalism, and thoroughness in making sure my dog is truly healthy. DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOG TO BE GROOMED HERE. This Petco completely ruined my Pomeranians coat. They trimmed her down all the way to her skin (something we did NOT ask for). Anyone that knows anything about grooming would know you never cut down a dog who has a double coat in this manner. Unfortunately, my Pom is a senior and even a year later her coat hasn't recovered. I doubt it ever will. To top it all off, Katie, who did this to my dog, got off with a slap on her wrist. Although my dog looked fairly good after grooming, their prices are OUTRAGEOUS! Everything is "extra". I was charged full price even though his nails were not clipped or ground (at my request) and they were unable to finish trimming him because he became very upset and aggressive. After 4 hours, what dog wold be happy? I will not allow Petco to inflict their price gouging in me again. Took my dog there today for her grooming appointment. My dog is old, blind and has a bad back. Pet Co has been grooming her for years with no problems, it's always how good and sweet she is. She has never bitten or tried to bite anyone in her 13 years of life. So the groomer petted her and my dog being blind turned her head and the girl said she "lifted her lip" . She called I guess the manger over and they made such a big deal of it I would not let that girl touch my dog. I walked out and will never go back there again. Horrible, just downright horrible. I own a full grown almost 3 year Black Lab who gets real excited going in that store for grooming, which is where I have taken her since we got her. I have NEVER received a complaint from any groomer, they say they get a kick out her trying to attack the water while giving her a bath. Her general excitedness was private due to new people her, it happens all the time and maybe because there about 6-10 dogs in the area. We go here to get my dog's nails trimmed and everything was wonderful. Up until this point. because of the whole pandemic, the grooming was closed. Understandably. I called on saturday 5/9 to see if I can get my dogs in since the grooming station was opening back up. The lady who answered my call was super nice but apparently the wrong information. She told me that if i am just wanting to get the dogs nails trimmed then I can just walk in, starting on monday 5/11. I went in today, tuesday 5/12 because I was told I didn't need an appointment (and I also can't make an appointment online as it wont give me the option.) I waited 15-20 minutes for another customer ahead of me to have his dog groomed. When it was my turn I asked if I could get 2 of my dogs nails trimmed and the lady there gave me attitude saying that they don't take walkins. I told her that I was told that they do and then asked if I can make an appointment for it. She said that they aren't trimming dogs nails. It's only bathing. It doesn't make sense to me at all. Especially since I spent so much time waiting and was told wrong information to then get attitude by the employee. I WILL NOT be coming back to the grooming center. I understand the pandemic is happening and its chaos for everyone but the lack of kindness from this employee really upset me. I will find a company who will treat all their potential customers with kindness as that is how I treat the employees. read more

Worthless grooming service! We have a 6 month old Cavachon that is approximately 10 lbs. We scheduled service to have her trimmed and they refused service because the dog was nervous. Not out of control, but they wouldn't take her to be groomed. My wife asked if they would just try to pet her or pick her up to comfort her, they refused. We will never return to this store for grooming or anything else, seems like the worthless groomer was wanting an early lunch break. read more
