I now consider myself a vintage patient here! Dr. Ian Leopold is hands down the best dentist I…read morehave ever had! I originally saw his father, and Dr. Ian has inherited all the skills and patience that his father had. I also go in regularly for dental hygiene with Maria, and am just as happy with her work to keep my teeth looking and feeling healthy! Maria works quickly and I always walk away feeling like I have a new set of teeth. The office is in a beautifully restored Craftsman style house near Highway 101 and also close to Poly. It is clean, calm and relaxing. The front office staff is also attentive and patient. They can navigate the intricacies of billing and scheduling with cheer and ease. Dr. Ian also works on Saturdays, and they can fit you in should you have a dental emergency. They can also recommend specialists in the area if you need further work like dental surgery. The only downside for me is that they are out of my dental insurance provider, but I still get partial reimbursement. I would never go anywhere else because the quality of the work here is worth paying a bit extra for!

My dental hygienist for many years, Melissa ,is just the best and her cleanings always thorough and gentle. I rarely have to wait in the office and I appreciate that they respect my time. I highly recommend Dr. Hutchens and the staff at Broad St. Smiles.

I had been going to this dental place for about 4 years and had extensive work done that amounted…read moreto almost 10k in that time period. At first, I overlooked a lot of things that my gut was telling me. One instance, I inquired about something different from what I came in for, the dentist did work on it right away to my surprise, and of course deducted the cost from my prepaid funds. There were billing errors that happened more than once, being overcharged, even when they say you get a discount. Getting my refund took time because of "corporate" office approval wait. Then I get charged for "periodontal" work $184 when I received basic cleaning - I know full well the difference. I specifically told them that I only want cleaning. With my last appointment I called first to make sure, again she said $184, and I said I want cleaning only then qouted $131. Ok so I go in for basic cleaning, upon being seated, the hygienist said that I'm due for an Xray. I told her I'd rather not at this time as I had extensive work done in their office already. She said my last xray was a year ago. I said it's not necessary, then she calls in the new dentist whom I never met before, and I felt ganged up on both convincing me. I said I'm willing to do it next time or in a year. I asked if they will do cleaning without Xray for now, again they insisted with no regard to what I wanted. So I stood up and quickly walked away. The way they made me feel was awful. This was the final straw for me. I definitely relate to what others are saying about Broad St Smiles. It's a corporate dentistry in which the main focus is to generate revenue as much as possible rather than genuine patient care. Yes, BUYER BEWARE!

Thanks to the review about the LANAP procedure from another yelper here it convinced me to give the…read moretreatment another look. Saving the "original equipment" was how Dr. Colleran put it at my consult and it really stuck with me. Losing teeth is a big deal to me and I don't take what the 3+ dentists now who told me I'd lose teeth soon lightly. I basically started crying when he told me that he could, in fact, save my teeth in one or two appointments using this procedure. I've been in pain for years with no hope in sight so I was amazed to hear anything positive. Denise and Sonia in the front office have been an amazing support to me and urged me to come in for a consult regardless if my insurance would cover anything. They both told me I have options and could afford this procedure and get financing. I've seen 3 dentists now who told me I would have to have full upper and lower dentures and was quoted over $10k to do that work which would take 6 months to a year. The last dentist I saw said periodontal treatments would cost me more and "don't work". This procedure was definitely not pleasant but I can already tell (2 weeks post op) how much better my gums look and feel. I think this will save my teeth and gums and greatly improve my life. I will keep this review updated for anyone thinking about doing the procedure. Do it. It's worth it and WORKS. I had both sides done at once in a 3hr appointment with Dr. Colleran. It wasn't fun but let me tell you him and his staff are badasses and KNOW what they are doing. They were very gentle and kept me updated on what was going on when I asked. I personally decided to listen to an audiobook with headphones due to anxiety which I suggest to anyone getting a major procedure like this. No, the staff was not chatty but they were focused on making me comfortable and getting the work done ASAP. That really matters to me. I also personally think that is always so awkward to chat while getting work done because hello, you can't talk anyway! I loved at the end the sweet assistant put lip balm on and it made me feel cared for. She def did whatever she could to make me more comfortable. I am 6wks post op and completely amazed by this procedure. I got a lump over a particularly bad gum section and they redid that portion of my gums and sent me on my way. They even found a way to charge the insurance for my first cleaning. I'm so impressed by this office and can definitely say I'll be a patient with them for a long time.
