Surprise surprise!!! The reviews were mixed so i was cautious. I went out on a limb with these expensive tapas that don't even come with rice! I enjoyed every bite and just made rice at home for the leftovers. Deep flavors, fresh ingredients and the spice was just right! The service was quick in preparing my meal and live accurate updates. Came here again for 2nd time. Tried several different items. The Combination Lo Mein was delicious. We also liked the Mongolian Beef. Our kid loves Chinese cucumbers, and Peter Chang's version is different yet delicious and refreshing. I can't wait to come back to try other dishes. read more

Went back to Peter Chang day after Craig Laban stellar review (just happened to have made plans weeks ago to go) and tried two of his recommended items: - Scallion bubble - 5/5, very unique light and airy bubble of a "pancake" - more like dosa but thinner and with a curry dipping sauce. This is not a scallion pancake so do not expect that or you'll be in for a (good) surprise - minced garlic cucumber salad 5/5, generous portion of slippery but deliciously fresh cucumber chunks flavored with light garlic (not spicy) Also had my now favorite dish of spicy braised flounder tofu pot - 5*/5 and baby bok choy with tofu sheets - 5*/5 I'll be back again to try other things and also noticed they have a private dining room so maybe a good place for a party?! read more

The staff here is so so kind and the ambiance is bright and relaxing. I came in and ordered a bunch of things to share - scallion bubble pancake, brussel sprouts, sweet & sour chicken, bang bang shrimp, and fried ice cream. Peter Chang is a new name to the Philadelphia metro area, coming from Virginia and DC. This location specializes in "Chinese Tapas" - appetizer sized portions, so keep that in mind when ordering. We tried a few items for takeout recently after seeing mostly good reviews here on Yelp: Dry-Fried Eggplant: Delicious and would likely be crispier if dining in. I've had this in a Peter Chang in Virginia and it compared favorably. Dan Dan Noodles: Deceptively neutral until stirred, then the heat starts. There were some small pellets of tofu rather than cubes or slices. It was OK. Shredded Pork in Garlic Sauce: Very mild. When I got this in Virginia, my reaction was like George Takei: "Oh, My." That was fiery hot and delicious. This was more like sweet bean sauce. It wasn't bad, just really mild compared to the last time I had it. Like the Ensign Kim violin version instead of the Lieutenant Sulu fencing version. Bang Bang Shrimp: Crispy shrimp in a tangy orange sauce. My wife loved this and wanted more. Golden Mountain Beef with Sesame: Julienned crispy beef in a sweet sauce with sesame. My wife liked this more than I did. Ordering was easy online and ready when I requested. I was in and out quickly. The restaurant was packed, a good sign. Parking was available in a shared strip mall near Giant, CVS and the UPS store. Prices averaged about $11 per dish, but keep in mind these are small appetizer sized containers. I'd be curious if more Peter Chang locations will follow and with standard menus. As for this location, there are a few other options closer that have larger portions and better value. read more

Stopped in last night with no reservation and had an amazing experience! Our server, Linda, was so sweet and really made the meal even better. This is the perfect family-style Chinese spot and great for big parties. We ordered a bunch of dishes for the table. The Vegan Hot and Sour Soup was okay, but my top favorites were the Combination Dry Pot (chicken only), Dry Pot Hand-Ripped Cabbage, Minced Garlic Cucumber Salad, and Baby Bok Choy with Tofu Sheets. The Dry Pot Chicken had just the right amount of spice and paired beautifully with the cabbage and bok choy, creating a perfectly balanced meal. Learned by chance that Peter Chang's opened a restaurant at KOP and tried it out today. We made the reservation online and when we get there at 6pm, it is completely full. The restaurant called itself Chinese Tapa plates, where most of the dishes are small plates and perfect for trying a variety of things. The chef who owned the chains is a James Beard award finalist and it showed. All the dishes we tried are pretty good, we especially like the Firecracker Cilantro Fish Roll, Basil Eggplant w.Egg Tofu Pot, Shrimp Snow Peas &Asparagus and Egg&Scallion Fried Rice. The servers are all pretty polite but maybe a little new. Overall, great new Chinese restaurant, probably the best in KOP area. read more

My boyfriend and I came here after visiting kop mall. We usually go to Nan Xiang but wanted to try this place since it was close. We both enjoyed the meal here and paid about $30 plus tip. While I do wish the soup dumplings were a larger serving we liked everything we got. Hospitality, a simple kindness is sometimes the overwhelming quality that can cause a visceral loyalty to a restaurant. Unfortunately there is no such love here. Not between coworkers nor twixt guests and host. A laudatory review from Craig LaBan piqued my interest and coincidentally my partner could sense something special while stopping at the local grocery. We easily booked a reservation for early Saturday evening. It truly is in a strip mall, half full of older folks with a chopstick skill that humbled me. We ordered the hits. The lions head meatballs came first, just as Craig described. Very rich, very delicious. We had also ordered a side of the jasmine rice which arrived last to soak up the gravy. The bubble scallion pancake, a volleyball sized crispy savory salted mixed flour puff came with a curry dip. It also complemented the meatballs nicely. The star of the show was third to arrive. The Dim Sum Sampler. The two spring rolls were very good. Cucumber salad refreshing. Sesame balls and steamed bun good, just new to me and dumplings a little spicy with chili oil. Really liked the food, but felt dismissed because we ordered the popular dishes. Nobody stopped by after first dish was delivered. Had to flag server for flatware and rice. Stopped by for lunch on a quiet Friday afternoon to enjoy some of the establishment's offerings. We shared most of our selections that included: Jade Tofu Soup with duck meat, Dry Beef Chow Fun, half Peking Duck (huge portion), and three selections of dumplings: steamed Pork (gyoza), Shrimp, and their incredible Pork Soup Dumplings. Our server, Tomiki (sp?), was an incredible help in guiding us to those selections he believed we would enjoy. He was spot-on! I've been here twice so far. The first time was nice. My friend and I particularly enjoyed the chongqing chicken as it was flavorful with a crunch, but I didn't like pancake's sauce as it tasted like medicine. The second time I came with my partner. Again, I enjoyed the food and the seasoned fish was my favorite for the night. The prices are fair given the quality, but I dislike how rice comes at an extra cost. The restaurant is nice and clean. I am rating my experience as three stars because I didn't like how the waiter did not acknowledge my bf when he came late, and the waiter intently stared at my bf as he was paying tip. This leaves a very poor taste in my mouth as this is supposed to be a higher-end Chinese restaurant for the KOP area. Please train your staff better or pay them better (to not seem reliant on tips) or something. read more

What is nice is they have 'tapas,' smaller sized servings you can try priced half that, around $10+. Portions are still pretty sizeable. Well cooked and flavored (but I would skip the Dan Dan, was not a fan of the thin noodles used). Decent selection of vegetarian / vegan options. New Chinese spot off Henderson Road in King of Prussia, owned by a former James Beard finalist with a chain of highly rated Chinese restaurants. First off, the place is extremely popular, so reservations are a must. Several folks showed up to see if they had any openings, but they needed to be turned away due to all the tables being booked. Service was very friendly, and they seem to have things down pretty well at this point. They just opened, so the expectation was they would have a few kinks to work out, but we didn't have any problems on our visit. The building itself, for being inside a strip mall, was very nice. Lots of space, despite lots of people. It does get a tad loud, so some soundproofing on the walls or ceiling wouldn't be a bad addition, but nothing terrible. Also, this particular location is BYOB, which is fantastic, and if you forget something, there's a supermarket right next door. The menu is absolutely huge! So many items, and each one of them would appear to be absolutely well made. We ordered several appetizers, plus a few entrees, and their signature duck. The dan dan noodles were fantastic! Some mixing required, which is fine by me, and the flavor was great while providing some decent spice. The duck spring rolls and pork soup dumplings were also fantastic, with fantastic accompanying sauces, though i wish there were more of each. Three soup dumplings works with one or three people, but with two or four (or more), it feels like a cheap attempt for people to order two orders. That being said, they're pretty good, so you may want to order two anyway. They definitely compare to Nan Xiang, also in KoP, or Dim Sum Court in Phoenixville. The honey pork ribs was a very decent serving of absolutely delicious little riblets that pull right off the bone. Give them the ol' "My Cousin Vinny" and put the whole thing in your mouth, then pull the bone out. Very delicious as well, with sauce you'll want to put on other items as well. The scallion bubble is their take on the scallion pancake, but in my opinion, way better. Still good flavor, but not nearly as greasy as scallion pancakes always are. This was accompanied by a fantastic turmeric-based sauce, but you can dip in any sauce you might happen to have, or go without. The salt and pepper shrimp was very well cooked, not chewy or greasy, as was the dry fried eggplant, though the egg plant did have a little bit of grease. But, i mean, it's Chinese food, it's going to have grease. The chow fun noodles were a very large portion, easily feeding four of us, with tender beef and a fantastic flavor on the noodles. Lastly, the duck. Probably the best duck I've ever had at an Asian restaurant! The half-duck is a huge portion (sourcing some big ducks, i guess), with several slices of tender and juicy duck meat. A neat touch here is they removed the skin, then crisped it up and sliced it, providing crispy duck skin over top of the duck meat itself. Perhaps it just ends up that way with how they cook it, but either way, it's fantastic! The meat was not at all chewy or dry, and the accompanying sauces were delicious. They provide a handful of small rice papers, or possibly not rice, maybe flour, to use as a conduit for rolling the duck or making a duck taco, for lack of a better word coming to mind. Lastly, the prices are really reasonable. If you go to some of the larger chains, you will pay much more for lower quality food. Overall, this place is fantastic! I will definitely be back to try at least 15 or 20 other items on the menu, because everything on there sounds so good, and everything we had thus far has been fantastic. As someone who went to college in Richmond and was a frequent customer of the original Peter Chang, I'm so glad it's finally come to Philly. First off, you must get a reservation, otherwise it'll be hard to get seated. Obviously, you have to get the scallion bubble pancake, but I'd also recommend the cold tofu salad (both spicy and regular are great), the fried eggplant, and the duck. My only qualm is that they don't have as full of a menu as the original location. They don't have the fried pork belly, which is a signature dish. I think Mama Chang's has that and a bigger menu in general. read more

I wasn't planning to say anything, but the more I think about it, the more disappointed I feel--and I believe the restaurant deserves to know. Yesterday, I dined in with my elderly parent and two young children for lunch. The food was quite tasty, but the entire service experience left us feeling frustrated. The tall and heavy-set female server appeared enthusiastic on the surface, but her approach felt highly aggressive and overly strategic. From the start, we were under pressure as she persistently pushed certain dishes. I specifically asked whether ordering a whole roast duck would include the duck bones, and she clearly said yes--that's the only reason I ordered the whole duck. Toward the end of the meal, she rushed us, insisting on packing up the food herself and urging us to leave. This was quite off-putting. These days, most restaurants provide takeout containers for guests to pack their food themselves. Her insistence on taking over felt more like pushing us out the door. Right before leaving, I even spoke to the manager about how to book a group meal, thinking I might come again in the future. But when we got home and opened the bags, the duck bones were missing. As anyone who orders a whole duck knows, the meat served is very limited--the value is in the remaining bones and soup material. And with a $80 duck, only my 5- and 7-year-old kids had a couple of bites. Even worse, this morning when I tried to pack food for my children, I realized the meatballs (lion's head) we had specifically ordered were also missing. This server's "fake warmth with hidden pressure" made us feel manipulated, not welcomed. It may work on unsuspecting diners, but it leaves a terrible impression. A restaurant can recommend dishes, but it should not pressure customers into decisions or rush them out. I sincerely hope the management takes this feedback seriously. Don't let great food be overshadowed by poor service. Otherwise, customers like me will think twice before returning. read more

I am part of a party of 6 people that eats out together every Friday. We have now been to Peter Chang's twice. The service was superb both times, with attentive wait staff and food that came out very quickly from the kitchen. The green/jasmine tea I had when I first visited was some of the best tea I have had in a restaurant. Unfortunately, it was not available on our second trip. I had Beef Chow Fun on the first trip, and it was outstanding. After eating for years in Chinatown, NYC, when I lived in NJ, that dish was always a yardstick for me regarding the merit of a Chinese restaurant. The dish had a great wok flavor, and the beef was tender. I also had the wok-fried spinach with garlic, which was a perfectly done dish of excellent greens with a good amount of garlic (which I love). On our second trip, I had the fish with mustard greens, which was one of the specials. I asked the waitress what kind of fish was used, and she said flounder and not farm-raised Tilapia. Flounder was exactly what I was looking for. The dish was superb, with the only spiciness coming from the mustard greens themselves. It also had glass noodles. I also had the Wuhan sesame noodles that featured a wonderful sesame sauce. I also had the combination fried rice with chicken, shrimp, and pork, which had a great wok taste. One person in our party had the Bullfrog special, which he enjoyed, although there were a lot of bones to pick out. The dish had a nice level of spiciness, which he appreciated since he loves his food very spicy indeed. Based on my two dining experiences, Peter Chang's is the best Chinese restaurant I have encountered in King of Prussia and its surrounding towns. I recommend to everyone who appreciates authentic Chinese food, especially Sichuan cuisine, to give it a try. read more
