It's a wonderful thing to increase the stars of a restaurant! I love to give credit where credit is due. Since my last review this place has changed owners. It appears to be run by a young family. I believe the husband is the primary chef and the wife manages the front of the house. You may occasionally spot a child near the back. The lovely wife and I have visited with these new folks four times. The menu is standard and all the usual suspects are there. The sauces seem to be a little lighter than normal which I appreciate. Portion sizes are appropriate and sometimes even larger than usual. Prices are in line with the competition. The décor is standard. Parking is a breeze. The competition is tough in the area but I'm pleased to consider these folks as a solid three star place. read more

Prices are high and the food is mediocre. I think this place has recently changed owners, seems like the prices keep rising. My last dining expereince I ordered lo mein for take out and there was a rubber band in it. Went to take it back and get a refund and the cashier had the nerve to give me a hard time. The best Chinese restaurant I've had the pleasure of dining in at thus far. The staff are very attentive and friendly and the food always tastes fresh and savory. It's often quiet here, even during the lunch rush. If you are considering ordering from Szechuan Lei Lei, dining in is a must, as the atmosphere is relaxing and you get beautiful food presentations on your plates that you normally wouldn't get when you take-out. The water is almost always refilled before you even have to ask! I come here exclusively for the fresh, crispy, savory large batch of General Tso's chicken. Word needs to get out: this place has changed owners! ^_^ I've been eating there for a few months now and I have to leave a comment. Now the food is actually cooked by Chinese people and tastes authentic. The quality of the food has also improved immensely. Plus they're trying to draw in new business, there are coupons in front of their store and they accept competitor coupons. I have never eaten inside, but it always looks nice! I refuse to get take out chinese anywhere else but here. One because it is so close to where I live, two because their food is awesome. I have tried different combos, and then have gone back to my original go too and it is always consistent ( consistently good!). The portion sizes are very fair, and the family is super nice. All I wanted was shrimp fried rice, and this was the worst I ever had...6 pieces of shrimp right on the top, and pretty much nothing all the way through. No onions or any of the things usually had in fried rice. And it absolutely was rice made at an earlier time, reheated. I would never eat here again. read more

Got tired of takeout and delivery charges, and decided to try this restaurant next to our favorite little market in the strip mall. It was 9:00 pm. Thank goodness they were open until 11:00!! We order food from Szechuan Lei Lei every week or so. We have only had their food delivered, so I cannot comment on the restaurant itself. However, the food is always hot and fresh. The portions are standard size and the pricing is comparable to other Chinese restaurants in the area. Another positive perk we have experienced is that our food is always delivered 10 - 15 minutes ahead of schedule. In regard to take-out the only difference between Szechuan and other restaurants is that we never receive fortune cookies. read more

I recently went to this restaurant because most of the restaurants were closed around this area. The location was in the back where it makes it more exclusive. The decorations made it authentic like a real Chinese restaurant not a typical takeout. This restaurant is all dine in and the service was fast. Great for kids and family dinners! I recommend the Walnut Chicken and the General Tso's Chicken/Sesame Chicken. They lightly fried the chicken with a special homemade sauce. They do not add MSG nor too much salt and sugar which makes the food more tastier. This place is awesome and recommend it to everyone! read more

A little disappointed in our most recent take out order. I do like their Peking Duck, some other places do not offer it. However, the gravy on their Egg Foo Young is not to my liking -I prefer the more standard thicker gravy , but that's just me! My husband likes their gravy! What I have the biggest gripe with is the fried rice. We normally order the house special which should everything in it -chicken, beef, shrimp, pork, etc. VERY limited on the meat, maybe one or two very small pieces of each, very few vegetables and worst of all - fake crabmeat. That's a real deal breaker for me. I will stick to only ordering Peking Duck from now on and going to others for everything else. read more

Went there 3/3/2011...our 1st clue should have been 5:30 p.m.in a busy shopping center and the place was empty...except for the sleeping guy, laid out on 5 chairs in the dining room! Hostess Welcomed us warmly and sat us in the table closest to the soles of his sneakers. As every other table in the place was empty, this was rude. Same decor, same menu as before. Egg Fu Young arrived with a deep brown gelatinous mass in place of usual gravy. New owner came out to greet us, asked about how we liked new gravy...he made it with oyster sauce and apparently way too much corn starch. Weird stuff! Also be forwarned that new owners are NOT honoring gift certificates. We went there to use $50.00 one given to my husband for Christmas.... now worthless! New owners have turned a mediochre dining experience into a really BAD one. read more

Honestly, this place is a bit overhyped, atleast for me personally. The prices are good and all, but there are plenty of better options, atleast as far as my usual Chinese food orders go. The BBQ ribs were honestly not that great, the meat was a tad undercooked, and unlike at my usual go-to place for Chinese ribs, it tasted like they just slapped on a bunch of generic kraft barbeque sauce or something that I could grab from a mcdonalds dispenser. As for the steamed dumplings (an easy order that I usually get first time at a place as a gauge for whether or not I would like to return) were honestly unsatisfying and when you bit into it, there was a huge empty pocket of water and air rather than meat and the dough they used to make the outer part of said dumpling just was overall unimpressive. While I agree that the girl at the front desk was a nice young lady, and I am sure they are filled with friendly staff, I just can't say that this is a Chinese takeout place that lives up to the hype everyone seems to give it. Personally I think I'll just stick with my usual go-to Chinese takeout place in Havertown with Mandarin Kitchen instead. read more
