Do they write prescriptions for the medication I have been on for a decade? Do they take my employer provided health insurance? Do they have good bedside manner? Do they make the process fun? At Shine Psychiatry, Sahil Mehta goes above and beyond the basics mentioned above. He also takes an interest in his patients' whole selves. I feel like I am more than just a number, more than just my diagnosis, I am a full fledged human being flaws and all. We talk about stresses at work, the amount of exercise I am and am not getting, and my latest creative pursuits with my hobbies, and everything in between. Sure, there's also the usual check-ins on medical statuses, but through each topic and in every interaction, it feels like Sahil truly cares about the wholistic well-being of his patients, not just prescribing medication and calling it a day. To Sahil Mehta's Psychiatric Services at Shine Psychiatry, I give 5 stars.

I've always had a hard time opening up to people, but Chris and the SHINE team have always made me feel comfortable in every setting, both in person and through telehealth (Zoom). One example that really stood out to me was during my initial in-person evaluation. I found the white-noise machine in the room extremely distracting, and Chris happily turned it off without making me feel uncomfortable about asking. He even took the time to explain why they use it (to give client meetings a little more privacy). He was empathetic and understanding from the get-go, and I honestly felt myself becoming less anxious as the appointment went on. As I answered questions and talked about some of the things I've struggled with, Chris was great at helping me understand why I might feel a certain way. He also helped me realize that many of the things I struggled with were completely normal. At no point did I feel judged. Chris really helped me understand different perspectives on what I was feeling, and I left that first meeting feeling genuinely validated and heard. Coming from an Asian cultural background, I was also grateful that there were many relatable topics and experiences that Chris was able to understand and expand on. Again, he helped me look at things from perspectives I hadn't considered before. Throughout each follow-up telehealth visit, we've touched base on how I've been feeling, what has changed, and the steps I can take to continue improving my mental health while becoming more confident in myself and growing overall as a person. SHINE is the first psychiatry practice I've ever visited, and I'm extremely grateful and appreciative for everything we've accomplished together.

Thankfully it was easy to figure out where to park because of the instructions sent to me, but the parking is down a scary steep and tight curvy driveway so I had to go very slowly. Once underground I easily found parking near the elevator and went straight up to the department. As the elevators opened I was awed, from outside the building looks like a regular building, but when you come out of the elevator suddenly you're transported into a luxurious waiting room, so peaceful, spacious and beautiful. Staff is friendly, from the front desk all the way to the procedural area, everyone is kind and explains everything. When I was taken to the changing rooms and I changed into the pink gown, I was surprised how soft the gown is. Why can't all gowns be so soft???????? I could not stop touching the soft material, it is so soothing!!! Once I was taken in for my procedure, I was very impressed by the Doctor who was performing the biopsy, he was very compassionate and professional. Between him and the staff helping (who I'm sorry I don't remember anyone's name), I felt very at ease. What I expected to be painful I barely felt, and they informed me of every step along the way. Afterwards I was given these cute little ice packs that stick to the area along with some extra supplies in case I need at home. If I ever have to have this done again (hopefully not though) I would definitely come back to this location.

Wow, I just randomly went to share The Center with a friend and found their Yelp page full of…read morenegative reviews. I guess it makes sense because this is exactly the sort of business you take for granted and forget to review - unless you've had a bad experience. Funny how we will race to our keyboards to proclaim the best doughnut or latte but totally forget something which has made a positive impact on our lives. My teenager has seen two counsellors here in the last couple of years. She ADORED the first one and made great progress. Because of the nature of the Center as sort of a first stop after graduation her counsellor moved on and she was very reluctant to see another. I thought about paying the literally 3X as much to see the former counsellor in her private practice but decided to contact the coordinator, Cami to see if we could get in with someone new. She was super helpful and professional and matched her with a new therapist. Every week my daughter says after her session "well, she's not _____" but also every week she is making progress. Maybe lightning didn't strike twice (and believe me, we had tried several other businesses with abysmal results first) but her new counsellor is professional, compassionate and competent. Especially for those parents out there struggling to get someone referred by their child's primary care provider ... and I know that one. Spent WEEKS calling to find nothing through referrals. With their sliding scale I actually pay around what the co-pay would have been without nearly pulling my hair out to find someone through insurance. The intake forms are long but not dissimilar to what we experienced at other businesses. The difference here is that they stay in communication with you and let you know what is happening. This has worked out so well that even my EX HUSBAND now sees a provider through The Center. Give them a try.

Said she could not tell me why but her manager CAMI could if I wanted further information. Being that her and I had established a strong counselor/client relationship, I was completely blind sided and confused. . At first I was disinterested in more information as I was very upset to hear this news. After a few days, I ended up reaching out to her manager CAMI several times via phone call/voicemail and never got a response In life we all have our triggers , mine are rooted in trust and abandonment. As you can imagine, this event pushed both buttons. At the end of the day, I chose to except the outcome and move on . Deciding to trust in myself and make the choice to be ok without answers. There are individuals who seek therapy that are on a thin line. This event shook me and I would consider myself a pretty stable being. It took me about a year to write this partially because I was embarrassed to share this info. My hopes is that, this post wakes up those at this center. As a counselor , you should never leave a human worse off than you found them. I entered therapy just wanting to do some spring cleaning within myself and left therapy feeling mishandled. I spent months sharing about my life's intimate experiences only to log onto my session one day and be dismissed.

It started when my daughter wouldn't sleep through the night, so I never got back to sleep. Kaiser had given me this wonderful sleeping pill telling me it was not addictive!( yeah right!) 15 years later I am still taking them. Anyway its time to get off of them. Dr LeBas seemed knowledgeable at first. She explained how bad they were, but I already knew this from research i did. We are cutting my dose in half, and hoping it wont be to hard to get off them. Note to anyone, do not take sleeping pills anything past 8 weeks, they are highly addictive, and hard to get off! I will see her again next week, to see how I did with the lower dose. Wish me luck! :) Went today for my follow up, 9/22/14. I explained to Dr that I did not take the Depakote, as I will not take unnecessary drugs for something I do not have! She got upset and said she will no longer treat me, and I need to go elsewhere! I read such horrible things about Depakote on the manufacturers website. If someone just needs to get off their sleeping pill, they do not need a pill for manic depression! Really????? I was there for 5 mins, then asked to leave her office! Many Dr's care about making money and keeping you on drugs. I found a wonderful Dr that afternoon, willing to wean me off the way I was already doing it. with no adders. She is cruel and heartless. BEWARE!

ZERO stars for this woman. I've held off on writing a review about Dr.Lebas for months now but…read moretoday really sent me over the edge. I STRONGLY encourage anyone who is looking for a psychiatrist, to look elsewhere. Someone else mentioned that she really doesn't care about her patients and it's true. This is a person who is only in this for the money and could care less about the people under her care. It blows my mind that someone like this is allowed to practice medicine, let alone help people with mental illness. Trust me when I tell you that there are far better qualified, caring people who are passionate about psychiatry. Go find one of them. I refuse to return and give her anymore of my money and time. Yes she prescribed me my medication, but anyone can do that. Today I called ahead and let the receptionist know that I needed to come in because I would be flying with my Emotional Support Animal. The airline requests documentation from my psychiatrist saying that I am currently under their care and have been diagnosed with a mental illness that is listed in the DSM. The receptionist made the appointment and told me to come in. When I showed up for my appointment, Dr.Lebas looked at me and said, "I don't do that." You're telling me you can't put on a piece of paper that you're my doctor and that I have indeed been diagnosed with a mental illness? I demanded a refund on my co-pay (thankfully I got my money back) and left. When I asked her why she wouldn't do this for me, she had no real reason. Was I asking her to do anything illegal? No. Was I asking her to pretend that I was blind and I had a seeing eye dog? No. I have a mental illness and having my corgi with me helps me in social situations and my overall daily life. She even went as far as to suggest I get some random Doctor online to do it for me!!!! What?! Hahaha I've also had plenty of issues with refills not being able to be processed because she can't come to the phone or she claims she didn't give me a refill so that I'll have to come back and throw another bunch of cash at her. Nope. RUN FAR AWAY from this office. She needs to retire because she obviously doesn't care about helping people.

He is incredibly prompt and respectful of your time, while somehow never making the appointment feel rushed. He's kind, funny, caring, attentive, and has a way of immediately putting your mind at ease. I left feeling completely confident that my health is in very good hands. I'm newly postpartum, and he has been wonderful in helping me navigate the reins of this new chapter and come up with a plan for a truly healthy future so I can be my best self for my baby. He was incredibly thorough, provided me with excellent referrals, and made the entire process so seamless. I was able to have my labs done immediately after my appointment, received the results that same day, and he had already reviewed and addressed them with me. That kind of attentiveness and follow-through is so appreciated and, unfortunately, not something you find everywhere. He even went the extra mile discussing medication options and copays with me, actively trying to find the most affordable choices--definitely not something most PCPs go out of their way to do. Dr. Thomassian is the epitome of a doctor who genuinely loves what he does and truly cares about helping people. My husband and I both agree that we'll proudly and gladly keep him as our PCP until we're old and gray. Sorry, Dr. Thomassian--you're stuck with us for life! Couldn't recommend him more highly.
