They didn't show pics of bathroom but it is smaller than a closet. To take a shower you couldn't move, you had to take the shower head up and down to rinse. I didn't call Until mid week when I finally had a melt down. My guest came and she had dirt on her sheets and being the first good grilling day and I took off the grill cover and no propane.Now I called ahead to see if grill was propane. When I made the call to complain they said I should have called in beginning of week but I told things were just going down hill.They asked if I wanted them to come over so they can show me there was propane making me feel stupid so I had to take a picture of the NO PROPANE UNDER THE GRILL!! MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT WAS THEY CHARGED A PET DEPOSIT FOR BOTH DOGS AT 300 DOLLARS AND A 50 DOLLAR CLEANING FEE PER DOG. I Told them I wanted those deposits back and cleaning deposits back seeing I did the ckeaning.I asked them what was my 500 dollar deposit for? They advertise 162 dollars a night and gouge you with all the extra deposits and they did nothing to compensate us.We got our 500 dollar deposit but nothing else.I had to wash the sheets in spare room because of sand. This is my first rental and probably my last because I have stage 4 breast cancer.They could have given me our pet deposits like asked. Kristen was so unprofessional and not willing to listen .She said it was my fault because I didn't call first day. I tried to tell her it was a snow ball effect. I WOULD NEVER RENT OR BUY ANTHING FROM THIS REAL ESTATE AGENCY EVER. I WOULD NOT EVEN GIVE 1 STAR IF I COULD!!

We were able to meet in person at the beginning and I was so impressed with her professionalism, her understanding of the market (and the particular property Medway Place) and her enthusiasm. She gave us great advice about what should and should not be done to prepare the unit for sale, even going so far as to suggest well-priced fixtures we could use for some of the updating. At the same time, she wasn't pushing us to do unnecessary work, so she was sensitive to the economics. Before the opening season of Covid, she immediately got going to market the unit, holding open houses and getting sale materials out to the appropriate market. This sale required jumping through an unusual amount of administrative hoops, both before and to complete the sale, all of which she handled efficiently and effectively, as she kept us well-informed about her progress. Our sale price was just where we wanted it (a good one!!). The closing went smoothly, her office staff took care of the paperwork and she kept us advised all along the way, coordinating with multiple sets of lawyers, probate, etc.. She doesn't set up unrealistic expectations and knows her market)- we could not have been happier. The cherry on top is that Stephanie is also a really friendly, helpful, genuine and a delightful person!

Talked to the owner Joe when I received the non compliance letter to find out what next steps are before I called a lawyer and he got very defensive and nasty on the phone and would not really answer any of my questions on how to proceed. Basically washed his hands of everything and said to wait to see if we get deposit back. We have already paid for cleaning and patched a hole. They are now stating that the hole wasn't patched to their liking and that we still owe for cleaning. The best part is that they want to keep the deposit because of "exterior garbage barrels: bagged improperly" (exact wording). So now we are all stuck in limbo until the owner decides if she is going to give our deposit back to us. Luckily, the parents are all on board with going ahead legally. In RI, if the owner does not give you back your deposit and you take them to court and if their reasons don't have merit, they will need to pay back double the rent plus all of the court costs. If anybody else out there has had issues, please let me know. Parents and children should not be taken advantage of because we are out of state. I see from many other comments that other parents have had to go to court to get deposits back. I am actually quite surprised they don't have any negatives on the BBB site.

I heard the testimony from two cultural exchange students, and they were emphatic on the very bad living conditions they were subjected to while living in this so called hotel. In all honesty, if this hotel was part of a national hotel chain, it would have been shut down. I too could not believe a multimillionaire would allow his hotel to be in such a rundown condition. I also reached out to the Stop and Shop management as the students worked at Stop and Shop and Stop and Shop was involved in obtaining the hotel for the students. The management at Stop and Shop told me they reached out to Mr. James Durkin to clean up and repair his property, but he refused. In addition, Stop and Shop had to try to do some cleaning on their own. The young ladies were intimidated to file a complaint as they were cultural exchange students, and James is on the Narragansett Town Council. I voted for James Durkin on the Town Council, but sadly after I found out he was a slumlord, I am sad I voted for him. Our daughter rented from Durkin in Narraganset (goes to college at URI). The place was a pit. They barely had clean couches, floors, the fridge was broken AND we had to replace the toilet seat ourselves. Totally and utterly disgusting. We were mortified at the condition of the house. Durkin takes advantage of college aged kids and women. Our daughter and her 2 friend's deposit was not returned. A pipe burst under their house when they were away for Christmas break. Per the rental agreement, this is not their responsibility. BUT, Durkin himself held the deposit and did not return it. They wanted the girls to pay for 50% of the pipe burst and water that leaked while they were home for Christmas (out of state). What a joke! We immediately called Durkin and he was a complete jerk. Unprofessional and frankly arrogant thinking he would and could get away with this treatment of college kids. We ended up suing him, taking him to court, going through the entire process with the State of Rhode Island. Fair Warning: The judicial system is a complete mess in RI. The attorneys are all in bed together and all know Durkin and their kids play baseball together, etc. So, keep this in mind -- even if you hire an attorney, Durkin and his attorney lack integrity-- unless you have someone not in bed with Durkin, you will lose. We spent a ton of time trying to make this right with Durkin in the legal system and with our college aged young adults - teaching them to stand up for men and companies like this. While Durkin threatened to counter-sue us, we did not back down. I am happy to provide the attorneys that worked on this case -- because they are just as misogynistic and awful as well. I am taking the time to write this review to all the parents out there. We have choices on who we can rent from for our college kids -- I PROMISE YOU -- your best option is to walk away. No matter how nice Durkin and his employees are upfront --- it will save you a ton of headache and lies! Trust us! 6 months+ in the court system -- Happy to provide all details of anything to prevent any other college kids and their parents from this mess. And, Durkin, please do not respond here -- it is fruitless. We gave you 100 opportunities in person, on the phone and in the court system and you hid behind your attorney. So, nope.

Horrible experience where we were misled, entered into a "VIP Buyer agreement" that was ANYTHING but "VIP", worked with a lender who was recommended and kind but also pushy, we informed everyone from the start we had some taxes to file for my husband's business, and were informed only after we were under contract that we did not meet eligibility requirements to qualify for the RI first time down payment assistance loan in time for our closing due to our IRS payment plan timeline! (FYI- their preferred lender might not explain to you until its TOO LATE that you need 3mos of IRS payments to qualify for this down payment assistance!) Received a verbal extension from seller to extend closing for a week, which we took and decided to eat it on our down payment assistance loan just to get into this property. Turns out no one kept up communication from the seller, who flew in for closing, and they never actually signed the extension. We signed a termination to protect our deposit at 9:30am on a Thursday. Asked for and received NO updates until a text message at nearly THREE AM the following Sunday informing us that the seller had indeed backed out, and signed their own termination of contract?! On the same Thursday we signed ours, at 3:30 PM?! And they had had "no updates" for us for DAYS?! Selling AND buying agents are colleagues at this same agency, yet communication was abhorrent. Complete lack of understanding the urgency of such matters. Thank god we got our deposit and our "VIP" buyer payment for a total of 4k back- that was the ONLY positive to come out of this experience. Never again!!
