    We are now enjoying our third year at Durkin. A few observations…read more First, I think there may be a difference between the properties they manage and those that they own. They own this one, which is behind the office. Near the pool, but not on or as near the beach--it's a trade-off. We've only stayed here, in one of the properties that they own--and have loved it (three years, and plan to book for next summer). I'm not trying to deny or discount the experience of people who've rented at a property that Durkin manages, but we've really been treated well in every way. If you want to be at this end of South County, my advice would be to stick with a property they own. In the bargain, you'll get the pool, great outdoor showers, we've met super-nice people, it's just awesome. Plus, the women in the office are outstanding, funny, even-keeled. Love this place.

I heard the testimony from two cultural exchange students, and they were emphatic on the very bad living conditions they were subjected to while living in this so called hotel. In all honesty, if this hotel was part of a national hotel chain, it would have been shut down. I too could not believe a multimillionaire would allow his hotel to be in such a rundown condition. I also reached out to the Stop and Shop management as the students worked at Stop and Shop and Stop and Shop was involved in obtaining the hotel for the students. The management at Stop and Shop told me they reached out to Mr. James Durkin to clean up and repair his property, but he refused. In addition, Stop and Shop had to try to do some cleaning on their own. The young ladies were intimidated to file a complaint as they were cultural exchange students, and James is on the Narragansett Town Council. I voted for James Durkin on the Town Council, but sadly after I found out he was a slumlord, I am sad I voted for him. The air conditioner cover panel was on the floor so we didn't dare use it.The toilet seal was not sealed. The toilet moved every time we used it. They didn't show pics of bathroom but it is smaller than a closet. To take a shower you couldn't move, you had to take the shower head up and down to rinse. I didn't call Until mid week when I finally had a melt down. My guest came and she had dirt on her sheets and being the first good grilling day and I took off the grill cover and no propane.Now I called ahead to see if grill was propane. When I made the call to complain they said I should have called in beginning of week but I told things were just going down hill.They asked if I wanted them to come over so they can show me there was propane making me feel stupid so I had to take a picture of the NO PROPANE UNDER THE GRILL!! MY BIGGEST COMPLAINT WAS THEY CHARGED A PET DEPOSIT FOR BOTH DOGS AT 300 DOLLARS AND A 50 DOLLAR CLEANING FEE PER DOG. I Told them I wanted those deposits back and cleaning deposits back seeing I did the ckeaning.I asked them what was my 500 dollar deposit for? They advertise 162 dollars a night and gouge you with all the extra deposits and they did nothing to compensate us.We got our 500 dollar deposit but nothing else.I had to wash the sheets in spare room because of sand. This is my first rental and probably my last because I have stage 4 breast cancer.They could have given me our pet deposits like asked. Kristen was so unprofessional and not willing to listen .She said it was my fault because I didn't call first day. I tried to tell her it was a snow ball effect. I WOULD NEVER RENT OR BUY ANTHING FROM THIS REAL ESTATE AGENCY EVER. I WOULD NOT EVEN GIVE 1 STAR IF I COULD!!

    This is a review of STEPHANIE BASILE at the agency, I have no real experience with the agency…read moreitself. ABOVE AND BEYOND. Stephanie handled a long distance (we live out of state) sale for us. We were able to meet in person at the beginning and I was so impressed with her professionalism, her understanding of the market (and the particular property Medway Place) and her enthusiasm. She gave us great advice about what should and should not be done to prepare the unit for sale, even going so far as to suggest well-priced fixtures we could use for some of the updating. At the same time, she wasn't pushing us to do unnecessary work, so she was sensitive to the economics. Before the opening season of Covid, she immediately got going to market the unit, holding open houses and getting sale materials out to the appropriate market. This sale required jumping through an unusual amount of administrative hoops, both before and to complete the sale, all of which she handled efficiently and effectively, as she kept us well-informed about her progress. Our sale price was just where we wanted it (a good one!!). The closing went smoothly, her office staff took care of the paperwork and she kept us advised all along the way, coordinating with multiple sets of lawyers, probate, etc.. She doesn't set up unrealistic expectations and knows her market)- we could not have been happier. The cherry on top is that Stephanie is also a really friendly, helpful, genuine and a delightful person!

    Absolutely DO NOT recommend renting through Pier Realty…read more Back in March, my husband and I booked a beach house rental for the month of July. We were planning for some downtime during my maternity leave with our two-month old son, and my husband would be able to work remote. THREE days before our rental starts on July 3rd, we get a call saying that our booking fell through due to a "glitch with the booking software". We had booked with a paper contract and a check, so not sure how it was software that screwed things up... Pier acted like it would be no big deal, they could find us another house to rent, which was definitely not the case. This was high summer in Rhode Island, only a few days before the July 4th holiday, not to mention the rental market has been insane due to the pandemic. They sent us some shitty Airbnb listings and hotel rooms that were nothing comparable to what we had originally booked. We weren't about to spend a month in a tiny, kitchenless hotel room with our two-month old... Last but not least, we were counting on this rental for our main housing for July. So, instead of spending a lovely month close to the beach during my maternity leave, we ended up having to squat in my grandmother's apartment back in hot, noisy NYC. I will say that Pier did give us our money back, but regardless of that fact, obviously this isn't a real estate company that you can trust. Highly recommend going elsewhere for your vacation rental.

I have never in my life experienced a more disorganized management system between Sandra and the home owner. I rented this with 2 other students for the academic school year. Since September, we have put multiple work orders in and none of them have been fixed (it is currently February). we have kept up with this constantly, asking when each issue would be fixed, and the reply would be "___ has been fixed" when clearly still not working. Our door knob was broken preventing us from entering the house, so their "solution," after threatening to notify the fire department about the safety issue, was to remove the doorknob completely and put a piece of tape, yes I said tape, over the hole where the door knob was. not to mention this was in January when temperatures were sub 20 degrees. On top of this, the door was fine until the "management came" over break to fix the shower door which we also waited months to be fixed. Again we put this order in September and it was fixed in January. *** The biggest problem has been our dryer squeaking so loudly that we cannot be in the house while it is running. We have put multiple orders in, even had a technician come and order a part, however the owner refused to repair it because it "still works." We were told he is waiting until the dryer breaks then it will be repaired. Lastly, the driveway is destroyed. it is filled with pot holes at least 4 inches deep so with any type of precipitation the entire lot floods. Again we addressed this in September, has still not been fixed, so if you're into ice skating, come down for a nice skate when its cold. To reiterate, each reply is some sort of excuse and none of the issues are addressed. Don't waste your time, or money. Save the stress, and avoid being scammed.

Have woken up to random men doing work on my deck near the window. Mice and black mold in the houses, they took care of the mice problem (sending an exterminator with NO warning) but have yet to even check out the mold which could be a serious health concern. NEVER rent from this company.

I called to make an appointment and the lady answers the phone "what do you want?!?" I go "I want to book an appointment..." and she goes "on New Year's Eve are you kidding me?!" I go "I'm confused are you open, why did you answer the phone?" Mind you, I never said book me an appointment today! All I wanted was to book an appointment to clean my house and to see what her schedule was! I'm genuinely confused how someone with this nasty type of energy even has customers. I have no idea how well she cleans houses, but I do know I don't want someone who treats potential customers with that much negative energy anywhere near my house. I feel bad for her I truly do. Mind you, it's New Year's Eve not New Year's Day. I'm working, my wife is working, and not once did I mention I needed a cleaning today... I'm actually in awe that anyone who has a business would answer the phone like that. That's the most unprofessional I've ever been treated in my entire life. As if me wanting to use her business was a burden to her... I truly truly truly wish her the absolute best. But your energy is not going to go unrecognized. Learn to treat people better. Or better yet, don't answer the phone if you're in a bad mood!! It's really not that hard. Your entire business model is customer service...
