Today was my first visit to this office. The lady who answered the phone and checked my insurance was very polite and helpful. Then I met Karissa who did my cleaning and took all my X-rays. She is a very patient and kind. She took her time with me and knew how nervous I was. She cleaned my teeth and helped explain things. If your feelings are easily hurt or you're looking for a dentist who honestly cares about his patients, this is not the dentist for you. I have an autoimmune syndrome which affected my teeth/gums/bones and was going to result in dentures. When Brightman was preparing to make impressions of my teeth, I asked if the dentures could resemble my given teeth (so I would look like myself). He laughed at me and said, "do you want them to be the same shade of yellow too?" I almost broke down crying in embarrassment. I must be sedated to undergo dental work and, at first, Brightman would send a prescription to my pharmacy. I would pick up one dose (1 pill) and the bill was 16 cents ($.16) through my prescription plan. At my last consultation, he suggested another procedure that would require me to be sedated. When I asked if a prescription would be sent to my pharmacy, I was told Brightman no longer sent out prescription requests. He would dispense the medication from his office. I asked how much one pill would cost. The answer? $230. (Two hundred and thirty dollars, just to ensure the reader I have not made a typographical error.) I ended my doctor/patient relationship then and there. To be treated rudely AND ripped off monetarily was beyond the pale. Well, as Dr Brightman is past his year of competency, I schedule with the other Doctors. Unfortunately, this is the second time I've scheduled my annual exam, only to be told halfway through my X-rays "Oh, the Doctor is not in today" - how is that okay? I took my time on Friday afternoon to see a doctor, only to find out there was none working on that day! If you do go here- best to call on the day of to make sure whoever the Doctor is, decides to work that day- because the staff is not going to give you a heads up beforehand. First time going to this practice since it came up in network for my insurance, and Google had mostly positive review. The staff was nice as well as lady who did X-ray and cleaning, but I was totally disappointed at the dentist Dr. Brightman. Barely even gave a treatment plan just kept huffing and then just walked out saying something about a referral. The dentist was not even thorough in explaining anything. The staff here is exceptional. They are personable and always welcome you with a smile. They are almost always on time. When I have had an urgent need to see the dentist, they asses my situation and schedule me accordingly. I have never been disappointed from the quality of care the staff provides. It is also nice to see that during my 5 years of going here, the staff has been very stable. Dr. Brightman is an outstanding dentist doing things right the first time. He has all the modern equipment and does a great job in providing painless dentistry. Let me start out by saying I HATE going to the dentist, I have an (irrational) phobia of needles. I had to go back after my cleaning to get cavity fillings done & Dr. Barry Mand was the BEST!! I feel very well taken care of while under their care. I recently had work done with Dr. Batheja and he is such a joy. I have been a patient of Dr Brightman for years. My wife and two kids go there as well. They have both had braces through his office. I myself had let my teeth go. I hadn't kept up with cleanings and as a result it has taken a toll on my mouth. I had seen the periodontist, through the same office, and corrected my past dental wrongs. Dr Brightman is by far the best dentist I have ever been to. He is upfront with his patients and tells it like it is. I will be going there as long as he is practicing. As some other reviewers have commented on insurance issues and front office mess-ups, well these happen anywhere. I find his office workers and support staff fantastic. They always accommodate my appoint issue and work with my insurance. Just an FYI. This is my first positive review on yelp and the first review I have ever given a dentist. After almost 15 years of going to this office, Dr. Brightman's staff decides to give clients attitude, require clients to inform them of when they have emergency dental procedures during non business hours, provide the worst customer service, have private conversations about the latest technology while they are treating and are not willing to work with clients when there is an issue with the insurance. Do they honestly believe they can treat people this way just because they feel like it? Why would Dr. Brightman allow that? My family has been with Dr. Brightman for years and we've been pleased from the beginning. Two of my kids have had their wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Brightman and the experience was great for both of them! He was very informative about the procedure and kept us in the loop with the details. We knew our portion of the costs up front and had no surprises. Whenever there have been billing issues, the office ladies have been very helpful in getting it resolved. We've also used Dr. Kit for the ortho side of the office. I went to Dr Brightman for a checkup and cleaning in the fall of 2013 because he was highly rated in the issue of Inland Empire magazine earlier that year that had a Best Dentists article. I spent roughly an hour during my appointment. The assistants tended to me during that time, during which Dr Brightman spent somewhere around 15 minutes. Prior to his examination, the assistants took digital X-rays of my mouth. I have one or two cavities (sorry I forget); after his examination, Dr Brightman told me that the filling(s) needed to be replaced. Also, he found something that he told me required examination by a dental surgeon. After the exam, one of his assistants at the desk told me that everything beyond the initial visit (which was about $150 as I recall), that all the work would cost me about $1800, and that Dr Brightman would give me a 20% discount. I had one dentist all my life until about 10 years ago when he retired. He still has my dental records. He checked these and told me that I absolutely didn't need new fillings, nor did I need to go to a dental surgeon. The $1800 (approximately, my recollection) included the cost of cleaning all my teeth. I made an appointment to have my lower teeth cleaned. The dental assistant spent as much as an hour cleaning my teeth, but the cost was $250, which I thought was extreme. Instead of going back, I switched to another dentist in SoCal. After examining me, he didn't think I needed to go to a dental surgeon or to get my fillings replaced either. read more

I would give this place 0 stars if I could.......what a joke. They did a crown for me back in 2012. & I have had nothing but problems with it. When in today because about a week ago I started having a toothache. I need to have a root canal done and according to my insurance my copay should about a hundred and eighty dollars. According to the lady at the front desk my portion is well over $600. I told her I didn't want all her upgrades and I would be glad to just pay my portion. She said that I couldn't and I had to pay the 600 dollars. Or I could go somewhere else. Talk about running off a patient. these people are nothing but shysters looking to take your money, they are not looking out for their patients. they never have and they never will. I had an appointment to have my teeth cleaned. I arrived 30 minutes early and waited for 30 minutes after my appointment time. I finally asked why I had to wait so long for having my teeth cleaned even after having an appointment and was told it was because the hygienist was cleaning her room! Dr. Brightman didn't really acknowledge me as a new patient, shake my hand or anything. He said I needed to see an endodontist for some pain and swelling I was having and needed a root canal that he couldn't do. Was huffing and puffing as he was examining the rest of my teeth as if he was put out. Not very personable, only went to him because of my insurance and reviews I've read seemed to indicate he was nice. The staff was somewhat friendly, but kept me waiting for over an hour after my appointment time. When I had my appointment with the endodontist, which was in the same Brightman dental office I was waiting over an hour again. It was one of the most degrading moments of my life. The very first question he asked me was, "Are you diabetic?" Anyone who is overweight knows where this is going real fast. I answered, "No." He then started examining me and saying "Well do you have diabetics in your family?" I said, "Yes my dad is diabetic." He said. "Well see someone of your size (hands open real wide) is really susceptible of getting diabetes. You really need to get this weight off of you." I was so appalled! I answered him, thinking how in the world to I get this guy off my back, "I am under Dr. care right now for my weight, I have a medical syndrome which is being monitored by my Dr." This endodonist is NOT a medical Dr. or nutritionist. He should NOT be giving out medical advice and degrading any overweight person. I felt so discriminated against. I have a medical disorder that makes me gain weight and makes it real difficult to lost weight, I also just had 2 babies back to back. He doesn't know who he's talking to and obviously just stereotypes all overweight people as lazy and eating a lot. He didn't let up. He said, "Are you sure you aren't diabetic?" I said, "I just had blood work done a few weeks ago and everything is fine." He said, "Well you know you just seem to have such a nice spirit I would hate for you to be unhealthy. Your weight is out of control. You should drink hot lemon water." He continued with the exam saying all the things I needed to get done, and that the root canal I needed to get redone was a crown that was put on two months prior. He said it was due to the prior root canal not healing because I was overweight. One last jab as he was walking out, "You really should get a glucose tolerance test" WOW! Is all I can say! How stereotypical and degrading can one person be. I will NEVER EVER go back to this place again! Obviously they do NOT want overweight people as their customers. So discriminating. If this is who Dr. Brightman has representing him then he doesn't deserve my business either. I also have pretty decent dental insurance and they were going to charge me $4,000 for 2 root canals by the specialist and post build up and crowns (basic) So sad to have people in this world who insist on belittling people. I pray this hasn't happened to anyone and am praying for both Dr. brightman and the endodontist. Hope this helps someone! read more

My X-rays and teeth cleaning, "two things I hate to do!" were actually easy. "Robin" (Dental Hygienist) is the best, Very encouraging, even makes me want to take better care of my teeth. I wish there was a option for 0 Stars. This office is extremely rude and unprofessional. First I waited over 2 Months to get an orthodonics appointment to get get my bottom retainer off. When I showed up the doctor "didn't have enough time" so I had to again wait another 2 Months, this time when I showed up they had LOST my medical file. How that happens I do not know. So the doctor asked me why I was there and when I told him he said he couldn't do it because the woman who made retainers wasn't there after 4. So YET AGAIN I had to wait. The Third and last time I went in I was told the entire appointment should only take about 15 minutes. I arrived at 9am... I was promised I was going to be the first patient so when it turned 9:45 I became irritated and asked why I had not been seen. The doctor was late, when I told them I couldn't wait any longer because I had to get to work the woman with short curly hair ignored my complaints and walked away and out of sight while I was talking to her. Prices are very affordable and their new office is fantastic. This will be my last post but it's unfortunate that the doctor still won't acknowledge our difficult experience or even apologize for the inconvenience and miscommunication we had with his office. Again this is about the bad experience we had with your office and the refusal to provide any customer service. As patients all we did was look up to see who was an acceptable doctor under our insurance policy and your name appeared so we went to your office. If there were issues with the billing and you getting zero dollars from us like you say then you should have taken it up directly with the insurance company because that's the agreement you made with them. We pay our premiums and like everyone should expect to get services rendered as agreed in our policy. If you didn't like the agreement with Aetna you should have never agreed to accept patients with the policy and not take it out on us and give us the run around hoping we give up and leave. The reason we are so upset is you wasted hours of our time trying to work with you that we had to call Aetna over and over for help so they could try and contact your office directly since you wanted to charge us for a service that Aetna said was covered by our policy. Your office refused to make one phone call to Aetna and kept giving us all the run around when we called Aetna numerous times to fax and re-fax you the coverage of our insurance policy but your office says it was "never received" after 3 or 4 attempts by Aetna sending you the policy directly. In addition, I'm not sure what you consider "work done" because you claim to never have performed services for us to reduce our credibility but both my wife and I got our teeth cleaned by someone at your office and you put your hands in my mouth and looked at my teeth for a check up as well. I apologize that I may just be a simple "HMO" patient your office seems to not make as much money on but in my opinion services were rendered by your office so I believe I have a right to post my experience with your office.
