Arrived with a call 30 minutes before, although time of day was not specified when we called - only date (but it is a peak season). Very affordable call with their monthly membership. I paid over 12 thousand dollars for a new furnace and AC unit in 2023 from Petermans I was told by the salesman that I would not be disappointed. My AC was giving me warnings that there may be something wrong. I called them and they sent a repair man to fix it on Wednesday. he could not fix it correctly because they didn't have the parts. they had to order them. this took a couple of days and today Friday they sent another repairman to fix it. after he worked on it all afternoon he came to the conclusion that there was another part causing the problem. and of course they don't have that part either. so here we sit in a house with no AC until what I'm assuming is going to be Monday. Absolutely horrible company! DO NOT USE! We had a $22,000 brand new system installed 2 years ago and it worked the first season great, then issue after issue. They have been out 3x in one week and still can't resolve the issue. The last technician caught the wiring harness on actual fire causing even more issues!!! Now waiting on those replacement parts. And the original issue was never fixed...their incompetent technicians keep adding more to their problems. I've been a member with Peterman Brothers for nearly a year, using them for electrical, HVAC, and plumbing. After today, I'm done. They installed a reverse osmosis system under my kitchen sink, and within minutes it was leaking--water pooling across my floor and soaking our rug. This was caused by their installation. I called immediately and was told the earliest they could return was the next afternoon. No urgency, no attempt to troubleshoot, no effort to fix a problem they just created. Expecting a customer to sit with an active leak and potential damage for nearly 24 hours is unacceptable. This is not what you expect from a company that pushes memberships and claims reliable service. I canceled my membership and won't be using them again. read more

Very Unprofessional and Disrespectful Office Staff - Beware I had a scheduled appointment with Peterman Brothers and was shocked by how poorly the situation was handled. Instead of receiving a courtesy phone call the morning of the appointment (as most professional companies do), I was sent a text message. I happened to miss it while getting ready, and within 10 minutes, they had already moved on to the next customer--without even trying to actually call me. When I called the office to find out what happened, I was met with rudeness and disrespect from both women I spoke with. They insisted they had called me, yet my phone showed no missed calls whatsoever. Instead of listening or offering a solution, essentially called me a liar and told me I could have an appointment later in the day. I took time off work and specifically scheduled an 8:00 am appointment so I could get back to work quickly! I'm also part of their "Protection Club", which is a joke, and I promptly cancelled my membership. This kind of treatment is completely unprofessional and shows a serious lack of respect for customers' time and trust. Electrical side of the company is excellent. BUT! the scheduling people are horrible. If there is a problem then it's the customer's fault and the system is so rigid they can't solve problems with out costing the customer another day. Also, they can't fix immediate problems without adding an extra day (a day to estimate cost). Immediate problems such as water leaks or non functioning hot water heaters. Then they add another day to have thing installed or repaired. They don't care if their system costs the wages lost by the customer for 2 to 3 days of work. It's hard to understand all the positive reviews when our experience here in Bloomington has been so awful. Stonewalling. Rudeness. Pettiness. A neighbor's sewer line broke and it turned out his line hadn't adhered to the easement, so it ran across our (next door neighbor's) back yard. Peterman asked us to allow them to dig up our backyard to fix our neighbor's sewer line, which we were more than willing to do. But then they left it in a mess and now tell us they won't clean it up for "six to nine months@!!" It's left our backyard in shambles and they refuse to clean it up. We got no money for allowing them do dig up our backyard. It wasn't our sewer line they were replacing. They had no easement allowing them to do this on our property. It was just easier for them and so, being neighborly, we agreed. Once we agreed, they have been rude and haven't cleaned up our backyard. Dirty everywhere. No grass planted. Their man "Tex" says he refuses to clean it up. He say he'll be back in six to nine months and plant some grass, and when we ask him to do some work now, he hangs up on us. It's ridiculous. What we've asked is for Peterman to clean up the piles of dirt now (a month or two after they finished their work), plant some grass, then come back next year and fill in some dirt where it may be needed. They refuse and hang up on us. But of course, we didn't pay them. We were just the nice neighbors who allowed them to run a trench across our yard for free, and without an easement! So very bad they are. PS: Their CS response below is bunk and they know it. If it were true, they would not have asked my wife to sign the contract allowing them to dig up the backyard. She explained she was the grandmother--not the owner of the home--and their employee Tex told her he needed her to sign his many page contract many times, which to help out the neighbor, she did. Beware of the "whole home inspection" just a ruse to look at all the different things they try to trick you into buying.

First of all, let's start out by saying that a HVAC TECHNICIAN showing up at your house in July is like Santa-Clause showing up on Christmas Day !!! How sweet it is... Ok, now with the review. Spencer was the technician who initially showed up on 3 July 2025. Immediately diagnosed the problem being a bad control panel and blower motor going bad. With this being said, he explained everything in detail and more. The parts have to be ordered from the manufacture and delivered to the agency. However, the parts did take longer then expected about three weeks total. But, you have to remember, this is July not March or April... I'm sure there was an overwhelming demand for parts this time of the year... Spencer did show up as the original technician on 23 July who was here on the initial service call... His demeanor was pleasant and sincere and was eager to complete this service call with a smile on his face... I offered him something cool to drink due to the hot & humid day today. He declined and said he was good to go, since he carried his own refreshments with him... Again, a very pleasant and knowledgeable technician... I've been a customer for two years now and with every visit including their semi-annual inspections, I never had a bad experience with any team member. So, I must say I'm very happy with Peterman Brothers and their team... One more note to add... Zach from the Indianapolis office sent us a portable upright AC Unit to place in our house to help endure the Heat Wave we had going on at the time. This was much appreciated and helped a lot... In closing, I just want to say that these folks went above and beyond their call of duty to make their client very happy... Biggest rip-off ever!!! The two techs that came out were very competent, nice guys, but Peterman's business model is the worst. They charged me $350 for a freaking start capacitor, that's a TEN DOLLAR part that you can buy at any Home Depot. I have no problem with an $80 service fee, no problem with a fair profit, but come on guys, THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS FOR A FREAKING TEN DOLLAR CAPACITOR. I really think I should see a lawyer, that's just a truly obscene and criminal price. I think their techs also have a quota or commission, as the lead tech kept trying to pressure us into buying a monthly service plan. There are good and bads with Peterman Brothers. Because I has a bad experience with them and commented on my Facebook feed, they BLOCKED ME from leaving a FB review. My 10 year old furnace went out and I couldn't shop around. Their "Comfort Advisor" sold me a unit that is too big for my 1,300 sq foot house. It was $17,000. I am a single disabled senior woman whose only income is Social Security. They also assured me that their financing is great. They've charged 15% interest. The unit will be paid off in 10 years at a cost of $39,000. I've been told by other folks & businesses that my new unit is too big & expensive and I was taken advantage of. I can't even afford the payments. Good part: Their installers were kind and professional. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. I paid over $10,000 last year for a new septic tank that I was told was permitted with the Greene County Health Department. I was also told that there was a working distribution box and finger system in my yard. The sewer back-ups into my house continued, and I learned yesterday that the work for the new tank, and the new tank was never permitted and is not legal. The tank was dug up last week, also not permitted, and we found there is no distribution box and no working septic field/finger system. I now am being told by the health department that I can be evicted and charged up to $1000/day for an illegal septic system and improper waste drainage. Do NOT call this company, do NOT pay them anything! My next call is to an attorney! read more

We were having problem with our ac system. Mitsubishi mini split is the units we have. One is in our living room and sits up on the wall and the other is in the bedroom. The split means it has the units outside for each one. While they were trying to fix the one in the living room ( took over a month) after parts. The tech. talked us into the maintenance program. 200 plus later I thought these guys were going to treat us right. They didn't do the maintenance after we paid for it like you would think it should happen no it was going to be when they wanted to. I get a call today and was told we have to pay double because we have 2 units ( half the size of a normal home unit ). The program includes the plumbing too. I told them I can do my own plumbing anyway. It doesn't matter. One more NO REFUNDS IF NOT SATISFIED WITH THE PROGRAM. They haven't even done it yet. So the brothers might seem nice on TV but that's not the way it goes with them either. read more

I am sorry I did not read the comments prior to scheduling with Peterman Bros. I was given a verbal quote Of $77 to replace each ceiling fixture (and I had bought the fixtures). I had four to be done = $308 (which I thot to be a bit pricy for a 10 min job). When tech arrived to do the job the price was $133 each fixture or $532! It took approx 60 min for entire job. That's $8.66 per MINUTE. I stated a complaint based on the original verbal quote. The company rep told me there would be no refund. So I cancelled the home protection plan I had commited to, wrote a review on BBB and let the neighborhood know to beware of this company. They need some overhaul to their business practices.
