My first visit, about 5 years ago, I had this electrical issue I couldn't properly identify. I replaced the battery, starter, and alternator using the assistance of someone else. I took my car into Peterson, Daren said he would hook up some test equipment and run it and see what comes up. Later that day he called to say he fixed the problem, I think it was a busted fuse. When he gave me the bill it was something ridiculously low, like $15. Ever since then I have brought every car problem I've ever had to him. My car was shaking violently, he replaced the rubber boot that holds the engine in place and showed me the old one. And the engine shaking was solved. Long story short this might be the last honest mechanic in Southern California. I'll never go to another mechanic and I have no idea what I'd do if they weren't around. read more

I have a 2002 Chevy Silverado work truck and my belt snapped while I was driving which caused all my coolant to leak out and my water pump to fail. I called Peterson Auto care on the phone and the owners father Gary answered the phone and he gave me instructions on what to look for and what to do before I even brought it into the shop, he helped me make sure to keep the engine off and helped me with diagnostics over the phone. He gave me a quote and I brought in my truck over to Peterson Auto. When I brought my truck in everyone was very warm and helpful and I found out it was a family owned business. They have a very nice helpful front desk. Lady named Debbie, who was very kind and always updated me about my truck status, and Gary's two sons were also very Kind and great to talk to. My truck ended up being fully repaired and better than before and the price was absolutely great and the work was even better. I also had my personal vehicle there that I brought in in order for me to check up on my truck and I had a check engine light on that vehicle and the owner scanned it for me at no charge and told me exactly what the issue was so I was able to order the parts for my personal vehicle and will be bringing it in next week. I've been to a lot of auto repair shops throughout my life, and not all of them were a pleasant experience, but I can sure say that, I have found the right shop for both of my vehicles and I will always trust them to take care of it. Sometimes it takes a day or two for them to schedule you in, but that's a sign they do good work and have repeat and referral customers. Engine light came on my 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe in the middle of the desert and the car started idling very roughly. I called Peterson and he was able to take me immediately for a diagnostic. No charge. The other places (Hyundai dealers) I had called previously could not take me for at least two days and charge for that service. Diagnostic revealed a misfire on cylinder 3 and the car was repaired within a few minutes of the arrival of the spark plug from the auto parts store. It's very rare to find this kind of old-fashioned honest and reliable service these days. Peterson got me out of a jam since I was just starting on my vacation and had plans and commitments for the car in the following days. No, don't go here. The son Darren has a really bad attitude and bedside manner. Just a real mean rude personality. Plus, they are only open 4 days a week, so you wait 2 days to hear back, and then they have your car for a week. Also, they suggested I put water in my coolant reservoir. Even I know that is not the way to care for a car. He sort of told me to run into the ground and it's dead, unless I let them rebuild the engine. The work they did to, caused bad issues with my car. When I called because another mechanic told me what happened, I was treated rudely. Another repair lasted one day and I had to go through that whole 2 week ordeal to get it fixed right. Don't go get battered with rude treatment. read more

I have been taking my car here for YEARS and they are the BEST mechanics in town. Back when I was first starting out in L.A., I had to take my car in for maintenance and there were a few things that I needed to get done on my car. While the total of all of the repairs seemed overwhelming, Darrin was able to break it down for me as follows: 1). Get these first two done today if you can. That will cost you $x. 2). Come back within a week or two and get this one. That will be $y. 3). By the end of the month, you'll need to have this done. That will be $z. He was able to work with me, while still keeping my car running. They have a great key drop so you can set up your appointment and just drop your car off! They are also great when it comes to methods of payments (I had to split a payment one time -- no problem here). I had to get some bodywork done too (which they don't do), but they were able to recommend a person they work with a lot and it was another great experience! Both Darrin and Gary are VERY thorough and once I get my car back from their place, I feel that much more confident on the road. I don't think I've ever had to bring it back for something that is wrong, but I'm sure if there WAS something, they would find a way to squeeze it in to make it right. The price points that they quote are not only accurate, but they are extremely fair. I told them what the dealership was quoting me and their response was, "I'm not going to tell you not to take it to the dealer if that is what you are more comfortable with, but this is how much it would be to take it here." It made the decision an immediate no-brainer. I have recommended them to everyone I know and would encourage you to give them a try at least once. I'm sure you will be set for life! read more
