At Snelling Ave Dental, I have always felt welcomed being there from checking in at the front desk to sitting in the patient's chair. Everyone is extremely friendly and loves chatting with patients when they're up for it. (Pro tip: Talk about food. They LOVE to try new foods and share their foodie experiences.) I've visited here for a total of 3-4 times over one year, and I like how seriously they take their work here. During checkups, the doctor informs me of ways to improve my brushing and the spots that might need more attention. Something that's super simple, but I've never been told by a dentist what spots I haven't been reaching. Besides checkups, I also had a mouthguard fitted because I constantly clench my teeth when I'm stressed. It was a pain-free process, and they checked my insurance coverage and gave me a quoted price before initiating the whole process. Their communication is amazing and there was no confusion. I'm really sad that I can no longer go to Snelling Ave Dental because I moved out-of-state recently, but I'm so happy that I was able to find a dentist that I was satisfied with.

She actually talks to you, and treats you like a human being instead of the human-conveyor-belt approach to healthcare that so many doctors engage in now. Additionally, I had a different doctor before with Chicago Fam Dental, and he was great as well. He answered all my questions, and never made me feel rushed. The hygiene staff were wonderful both times too. The hygienist made sure to double check my insurance so I didn't have any surprise bills, she was very gentle, and they were very kind each time I've been there. Chicago Family Dental is the best dentist office I've been to in more than a decade. I travel for work, so I'm always changing dentists. First off, I'll touch on the good stuff before I get into the nitty gritty ugly stuff. What's good about this place: 1. Digital X-rays 2. HGTV over every dental chair (?) 3. Easy to get in (red flag?) Now that I've covered the good stuff, let me tell you why I refuse to ever come back to this place. I had been referred here by a colleague and incentivitized with Target gift cards for booking an appointment. Upon my cleaning I was sold a horror story of crowns, cavities, and other doom and gloom. I decided to start taking initiative on my dental health and booked an appointment for a routine cavity filling. That's where all hell broke loose. My appointment consisted of me being put on nitrous (per my request) and basically left alone for 35 minutes. My appointment was at 3:20, and by 3:55 I was snapping selfies to my friends on Snapchat as I had become so bored (and dare I say high?) from waiting. I am stull unsure if the main dentist was out mingling about with other patients he had decided to book or just straight up forgot about me--neither would surprise me. By 3:56 I finally am about to be drilled to pieces. I vividly remember the drill slipping at one point and feeling a sensation I had not expected to feel. Oh and important fun fact--the office closes at 4, think someone may have gotten hasty with their work? He gave me a little synopsis of "the tooth was worse than we thought" to act as a proverbial bandaid for my cavity drilling from hell. After a week of pain, I went back into the office to have said tooth checked out--now in need of a root canal. I was agitated at how it was handled and the next day called my old dentist to discuss options and appointment windows with him. After getting an appointment in with him, I walked over to the office to have them send my dental records to my old dentist and asked to be sent a sort of confirmation that my records were sent. After confirming with the staff at Dr. Cannon's office the records were sent, as well as a "we hate to lose you" spiel, I later found out from my old dentist that he had yet to see them. I just love broken promises! So now that they've nixed the Target gift cards and brought out free whitening with new patients, I urge you to consider if having white teeth is worth not sleeping at night and writhing in pain during the day. I sure wish I had thought about that prior to signing up for a $50 gift card that has now will cost me around $800. Do your research before putting just anyone behind the drill heading towards your teeth.
