Well, since I'm in Bingo often I knew I'd try Peterson's-since I named my son Peterson (after late Swedish F1 racer Ronnie Peterson)! Anyway, it was a slow night, so we were seated right away. Our waitress was terrific, efficient, and pleasant. She talked us through the menu, gave us some pointers, and ably managed our experience. The fried pickle spears were tasty and fun, my bacon cheeseburger above Bingo standards, the tater tots (I have a weakness for them) were good, and the portion was so big we left half! Love this restaurant! Sorry to see it's close to the public right now (hopefully opens back up soon) BUT when you get the chance to attend one of the events, DEFINITELY go! It's my Birthday (Valentines Day) and we came around 5:30 and was greeted with a rose, nice atmosphere, and charming music. My husband got the steak and I had honey garlic glazed salmon which both came with asparagus, roasted potatoes, appetizer, and dessert! Ow my god, to die for! Loved it! Was craving a good juicy burger and honestly, Peterson's came through with the jackal burger and the firecracker burger. The service was great and our waitress was super attentive and checked on us often. We came here on a Saturday evening and it wasn't too crowded and we were able to be seated right away. Called in our order by phone - the old fashioned way, lol! Peterson's does both take out and delivery. For the most up-to-date menu, they recommended visiting their Facebook page because the menu on Yelp is outdated. The chicken wings were super crispy, as I requested... I ordered a traditional "medium" Buffalo hot sauce with blue cheese. They were fresh and hot. I would have liked more than 3 celery sticks (and perhaps the bare wings could have used a touch more seasoning before frying)....BUT these wings were still excellent! This tavern is located on a street corner across from our Airbnb, in the heart of the city; a "walkable" location in Binghamton. I noticed an outdoor seating area, but there were no guests outside and the heaters were not lit. The staff inside were friendly and quick when we picked up. And get this...I think our wait times from order to pick up was 20 min...Super fast! The only reason I didn't offer 5 stars was that the wings are actually on the small side and one order costs over $15 (seems a little expensive for just 10 wings). We ordered 1 1/2 orders for the 2 of us. That said, I would definitely order again from Peterson's because the service & quality of the food was great. This place is off to an amazing start. Great atmosphere, bar, drinks and games. Only been to Binghamton two times, but this will be my go-to spot every time I come back. Enough space and good vibes to enjoy a dope night out with the squad. Good location to bar hop. College crowd gets lit and the bartenders know how to handle the young turnt crew and the seasoned drinkers alike. A few days ago, I posted a well-deserved one star review for Peterson's Tavern, regarding the awful disrespect demonstrated by their employees, including their manager! I am offended that a restaurant with such disrespect towards it's customers can still run successfully with a 4 star review on Yelp? Not to mention they claimed they couldn't give me a refund on my card because no one(including manager) knew how. (He hung up on me when I asked what he meant) To my surprise, however, the review was taken down, and Peterson's 4 stars remains strong. I'm confused why this is, and naturally don't feel good that a restaurant of such low professional quality can keep their confusingly high 4 stars. I'M HERE TODAY TO SAY THIS TO YOU PETERSON'S. I will NOT stop posting my accurate reviews. It doesn't matter how many times it mysteriously disappears. I would love to rate this zero but it is not an option. I have lived in Binghamton for 5 years now so I have been here many times. Last time I ordered, the hostess/waitress picked up the phone and left me on "hold" for 5 minutes, however I could hear everything still and I could hear her just talking to her coworkers about random things. Eventually I hung up and had to call back and then she took my order. I walked 10 minutes to pick it up and 10 minutes back to find they gave me the wrong order. I called and asked for a refund since I didn't want to walk another 20 minutes to get the right order and I did't want what they gave me. The same girl told me that she could only do a refund if i brought the card back. I then asked to speak to the manager so I could deal with someone more professional. HOWEVER, the full-time manager proved to be more unprofessional than the part-time waitress. He proceeded to tell me that they could only do a cash refund because NO ONE IN THE ENTIRE RESTAURANT KNEW HOW TO ELECTRONICALLY REFUND A CARD (INCLUDING THE MANAGER). The manager then proceeded to hang up on me. This is only one of the bad experiences I have had here, and honestly I have never had a good one. The managers are taught to defend their employees before the customers. I have seen managers full on yell at customers in their restaurant. NOTHING EXCUSES THIS. PETERSONS KEEPS REPORTING THEIR BAD REVIEWS ON YELP AND GETTING THEM TAKEN DOWN SO THAT PEOPLE THINK THE RESTAURANT IS GOOD. THEY DO NOT DESERVE A 4 STAR REVIEW TO THE SLIGHTEST. read more

Cajun burger for the win! The perogies here are also amazing (PSA add the garlic parm it's a dry rub). The pours here are decent the crowd is friendly and the food is great. The Mac and cheese bites leave something to be desired, avoid them tbh. Pro tip: there's a free parking lot on front street dedicated specifically for their patrons. read more

Such a great place! The vibe is awesome. It was our first time in the area and I Yelped somewhere to go and I couldn't have been happier. They have buckets of White Claw, which is right up my alley, and beer buckets as well. A good variety on their menu. I had a burger with egg and avocado, I forget the name, with French fries. Let me tell you, best fries I've had in a long time! The burger was good as well but the fries stole the show for me. There is indoor and outdoor seating. They had two different live bands outside while we were there. Both very good. They had some sort of cookout type thing going on too. There was a tent set up to the side that was doing its own thing. It looked more like a a la cart/to-go type set up, which I thought was a smart idea. The staff was very nice and welcoming. It is such a great place. Everyone seemed to be regulars. I was there in December a few times and they had Holiday-themed cocktails (I tried most of them) that were original, extraordinarily artistic and aesthetically pleasing. Visited during restaurant week. First things first: the service was outstanding. Pleasant, attentive, appropriate intervals between stops at our table. The food came out quickly - maybe even a little too quickly, if you know what I mean. FIRST COURSE: MAC N CHEESE BITES Flawless. To die for. Absolutely perfect. MAIN ENTREE: CHICKEN SPIEDIE Not trying to brag here, but I'm a pretty experienced chicken eater. Now, this was by no means a bad chicken spiedie. The marinade was flavorful and tasty. HOWEVER, the chicken itself was a bit dry. And the roll? May have been made out of sand. My mouth was begging for a glass of water after the first three bites. The fries that came as a side were above your average fries though so that made up for it a little. DESSERT: FRIED CHEESECAKE This fruity pastry was a bit of a letdown. A bit too much fruit filling and a "cheesecake" substance that was a far cry from actual cheesecake. Overall a pretty tasty treat, but much closer to a gourmet toaster strudel than anything to do with cheesecake. Got this place recommended to me by a friend. Let's just say we're not friends now. The place is overrun with townies, who do coke and smoke weed at the counter. My friend must've been off some blow when he told me about this place thinking I would like it. The waitress was morbidly obese and had her belly fat hanging out when she sat us down. The tables were littered with crumbs and white residue. My young child started saying he could see colors and was very hyper after licking the white residue on the table. We ended up taking him to the hospital later. Never going back to this place again, take your money to Maryam's and get chicken over rice. Much cheaper and you can steal it. read more

Fool me twice... Been meaning to try out this new bar and grill near downtown Binghamton. Another renovation of a classic space in the Binghamton tradition...brick walls, high ceilings, Edison lights, etc. For months, I've drooled over pictures of delicious food and dessert item posted on their Facebook page. We went there recently on a Thursday night only to find out all these amazing items were nowhere to be found on their menu. They have paltry, typical bar food. My steak sandwich special and my wife's cheese-steak were identically made (mine sans cheese) and bland. They came alone on a plate: no sides or even garnish. Fool me once... Beer selection is modest. Eight taps with a few local choices. Leading up to "Parade Day" (Binghamton's St. Paddy Day), they promoted themselves heavily on Facebook, promising a variety of food, libations, music, and even an outside tented venue across the street. A big snowstorm nixed the outside venue, but after we walked the few extra blocks to check them out we were surprised to find they wanted a $5 cover charge just to walk in the door. Cheesy. And not the right way to drum up new customers. There was never a mention of a cover charge on their promotions on Facebook. Fool me twice... This is my suspicion: If you are friends with or buddies of the owners, you get in with no cover charge, the chef gets creative with your meals, etc. Perusing the "Five Star" reviews on Facebook and Google showed me the property owner, the bar operators and even fiances among the outstanding reviews. I get the impression this is a very "cliquey" bar, which they have every right to be. They do have outside seating with a heated back patio, and they do sometimes project TV baseball games and other sports on the back exterior of the bar, so it might be worth checking out when the weather is a little warmer. read more

We asked 3 times for the menu before they even acknowledged us. When seated, we waited over 25 minutes for our 4 drinks and the food took over an hour. No apologies either. This building has changed management for the last couple of years, and I was very impressed with the atmosphere that the bar had. The bartender was incredibly friendly. I am always looking for a bar without the non-college vibe. Perfect place for my buddy and I to watch baseball, just relax, and have a couple of beers. I still don't know what demographic they are trying to attract, which isn't a bad thing but it's something they'll have to try and figure out. Music is also fantastic (club jazz, R&B). I've had many terrible experiences at this restaurant. For starters, the food is incredibly expensive. Furthermore, the boss continually tows random cars parked in his parking lot (including mine.) Upon further discussion with the owner, I was yelled at and cursed out by the boss, who appeared to have no interest in my issue or telling me where to locate my vehicle. When asked where I can find my vehicle, I was told to "figure it out, jerkoff." I found this incredibly disrespectful and will never, ever be conducting business with these people. I've been here a couple of times with my family and every time we go we have a terrible experience. They always get the order wrong and the food we get is abysmal. My kids always find hair in their food and the glasses our drinks come in are always dirty. The waiters are always so disrespectful when they take our orders too. They always make us wait close to 40 mins before they come to our table and then snap at us when we try to give them our order. The other day when we went one of the waitresses spilled my son's drink on my daughter and instead of getting another drink for my son, she told my son to lick it off her so they don't waste napkins. Then she proceeded to say she was too lazy to get my son another drink. What kind of service is this!!!! Never consider coming to this place, ever. I brought my grandmother to this establishment for her 87th birthday and they refused to seat us because they were short staffed. One of the best places to hangout with friends, get a couple of drinks and enjoy the evening. The firecracker burger is a hit. The white claw festival where they served fresh seafood was the best. This is definitely a bar scene. Not a dive bar but a notch above. A beautiful oak bar with rich wood tones. They have 8 taps with a good variety and a local beer or two on tap. We showed up at 6:00 PM so more of a food crowd than nightlife clientele. They have an interesting menu with some local specialties (speidies). Music was right up my alley and the volume is in keeping with a good bar vibe. My wife ordered a Chardonnay and the pour was quite generous. My wife had the prime rib sandwich which she said was excellent and she'd come back for. I had the Bleat Burger which was good. The staff was great and the service very good. This is definitely one of the better establishments in the Binghamton area in the tavern genre. Price is right, the bar is well stocked, the food is good and the staff is excellent.
