Pete's Camp has 3 areas worth reviewing: the restaurant; the bar; and the beach/palapas. Read this review to see why they get 3 stars.
Everything is immaculate. I mean brand new immaculate. The restaurant and bar look impressively clean. Same with the restrooms.
The bar: Everyone there is friendly. The bartender is really nice. It seems like the place where all the locals hang. The service was good as well. The beer was cold and they will give you a chilled mug. Great place.
Really all of that is worthy of 5 stars, but...
The Food: But if you go to a restaurant to eat. And that's where they failed miserably. Perhaps there are items on the menu that are good but what we ordered was horrible. We ordered nachos and fish tacos. I think anyone would expect that these would be bullseye success items. The nachos came "covered" like "swimming" in cheap imitation liquid cheese sauce and nothing else but jalapeños. They were worse than the movie theatre style. I still can't believe that's what they served. And the fish tacos were literally the frozen pre-breaded fish patties that you buy at Costco. And they were served on flour tortillas rather than traditional corn. How on earth they screwed all of this up this bad is beyond me.
Regarding the palapas...there's another review from a lady who was horrified that they charge to use them. Really? How is it that she thought they were free? I first came here in 1999. They were charging then too. And they should! Why would they not? That said, they beach area was free of any trash and the palapas looked great to me. Not sure why she gave a bad review but some people want everything for nothing.
My advice? Go for the view, drinks, and great service and don't order the nachos or fish tacos. Perhaps there's something else on the menu that's good. We will definitely return but not for food read more
