Flashback. Keeper. Regardless how long these walls, chrome-edge tables and the long countertop with vinyl-top swivel stools have been here. This has been my early morning go-to breakfast spot after I drink my green juice at home. By the time I get here at 6:15am, the cook has already cranked up the flat top and one of the ladies is multitasking phone orders, making tea, coffee, etc. By the way, if you aren't a pork eater like me, skip the eggs as they're made in the same flattop with the bacon. Otherwise, knock yourself out. Whether you like it or not, the ladies take phone orders left and right while you're waiting to pay are polite. Trust. Plus in this day and age, customer service is everything and they get back to you quick. Looks like this Throggs Neck joint has a fan base for its well-known friendly service and basic, wholesome diner menu.

Service: 10/10 The employees were very friendly. They were kind and had a nice smile on their face. That is what customers should be looking for when being approached by waiters or waitresses. They were very helpful with the menu option. Food: 10/10 I started with their hot chocolate with whipped cream. Man! It was delicious. The whipped cream, by the way, is optional. It does not automatically come with the hot chocolate. The texture was just right. I picked a good day to drink hot chocolate. I have also ordered their standard Belgian Waffles with a side of sausage. I have to admit, I was slightly disappointed with the quantity of the waffle. They only give you one. Additionally, you'd have to ask for the butter. Butter does not automatically come with the waffles. The syrup is or at least should already be on the table once you're seated. Even though I only got one waffle, it was delicious. Furthermore, you have the option to add whipped cream to the waffles. They will add the whipped cream to the waffles for you. The same can be applied to pancakes. When all is said and done, they will offer you a blow-pop lollipop. Overall 9.5/10 I will be back. I am unsure if they do reservations. It wouldn't be surprising if they did. Their menu options and pricing were reasonable.

Their Bloody Mary remains one of my absolute favorites from any nearby establishment. If you know of any great ones in the area that I haven't tried yet, let me know! They season each one to order, which I really appreciate. This time I thought it could have used a little more horseradish, but they were busy and I still really enjoyed it. The pickled green bean is my favorite part! They also have a rotating specials board, and every time I see the pork, broccoli rabe, and peppers sandwich, I order it. It's a perfect sandwich. Every bite hits all the right notes- savory, tart, sweet, and salty. I also love that some of the specials come with macaroni salad. I'm usually not the biggest macaroni salad fan, but theirs is excellent, not too wet and simple. I also ordered a bowl of chicken noodle soup, and it was just as satisfying. It's a classic, with a rich, flavorful broth. Personally, I prefer diced chicken over shredded in my soup, but it didn't take away from the dish. I did add a little salt and pepper to brighten the flavors, but only a touch. I'd much rather season it to my taste than be served an overly salty soup. The hospitality here is on another level. Everyone is friendly, quick, efficient, and genuinely welcoming. It's such a wonderful local establishment to support, and one I'll happily keep coming back to.

I ordered the pan seared sesame tuna salad and a passion fruit margarita and they were both very good. I also ordered a tiramisu for dessert which was also delicious. De-the server was very friendly, attentive and helpful at the time of ordering- I communicated that it was my first time at the restaurant and she made a few suggestions to assist with my choices. It is definitely a place worth trying.
