Here from the weekend from DC, we stumbled upon this amazing market, which my husband called a global Whole Foods. We wandered happily for half an hour up and down the many international aisles before buying lunch from the deli, hot bar and salad bar. I love this store and venture from the city to shop here, as it puts Mariano's and Whole Foods to shame. This store has absolutely everything: enormous, well priced produce section, well stocked seafood and meat counters, fresh juice bar, extensive deli and prepared foods. Not to mention an eye popping selection of international items. Wine selection is a little small compared to the size of the store but it's no big deal. Also there are many cashier stations and they seem to be always fully open so lines are minimal, unlike other grocery stores. Really enjoy shopping here. read more

Food selection is good but I give 2 stars because the female cash register workers are some of the rudest I've ever encountered in my life. I just moved into the area and they bring down the experience. They almost go out of their way to be super rude. I just don't get it. I'll try finding another place to shop. read more

Pete's is a very large store. It takes a while to learn your way around but once you do they have everything. The store is clean and well maintained. The produce always looks fresh. The meat counter is stock with just about anything you could be in the market to purchase. I have found the staff to be helpful and they go out of their way to help you find whatever you are looking for. read more

But the reason for my review was for the customer service specifically a cashier named Gautam he was very friendly. My favorite grocery store. They have a huge variety of international goods and spices and a large produce section with anything you can imagine. The bakery is amazing, too! The only drawback for me is the meat section - while there is a lot to choose from, poultry can be a hit or miss. I'm putting Pete's in Willowbrook on probation for not having any of the sales items on hand that I wanted the last two shopping times. The store has an interesting selection of international foods, but the store is somewhat pricier than Jewel in general. If Pete's continues not having sales items I want on hand, I'll have no choice but to stop going there. read more

Since it opened Pete's has been our go to grocery store. Since the craziness with Covid the way we shop has shifted. Today we had an extremely pleasant experience with the cashier Veronica. She was so patient, organized, friendly and over all super professional. Would highly recommend. read more

Heard about Pete's from a coworker who was amazed by their selection of international foods. He really talked it up. Well, I go to the Chicago area regularly and decided to check it out while I was there for a long trip. My first impression of the place was very positive - great produce section, well-lit store. I first set off to find some Israeli treats I have been craving since my trip there a couple years ago. Well, they didn't have them, or anything Israeli at all that I could find. I was pretty bummed about this, but then I found the Polish section. This was full of treats I remember from childhood but have had trouble finding back home, including these delicious wafers I haven't had in years! I was super excited to see them, but somewhat skeptical about the Christmas packaging in mid-April. Bought one to try while I was there. It was as good as I remembered! I decided to wait until the end of my trip to pick up a few to bring home to my family so they hopefully wouldn't be the Christmas ones anymore. Well, 2 weeks later I went back and there was a "fresh batch" without the Christmas packaging. Delighted, I bought a few, packed them up, brought them home and proudly delivered them to my family. Their reaction was a bit disappointing: "they taste a bit stale". Well, I checked the packaging, and they were out of date already. Tldr: sold me expired food. Won't be back read more

Their sushi is restaurant quality. I make sure to always grab a few rolls whenever I'm in wb. My favorite is the double trouble rolls.

Had severe food poisoning from the hot food bar area. At first glance i was so excited at all the options. I've always loved Mariano's hot bar section and they have even more of a selection here. I had some fish, fried shrimp, wings, pasta. We ate there at the open seating section and it was cold. Who knows how long it was sitting out and the majority of their food isn't sitting at a safe temperature needed for seafood and meat, probably any food in general. Avoid if you want to be violently throwing up for 6 hours! read more

I had the worse supermarket experience at Pete's this morning. I had gone to Pete's in Willowbrook only twice to shop during the holidays with my sister. As Carmen the cashier was ringing up my items, I asked her not to put them in plastic bags but back in the cart instead. Not using plastic bags was my 2019 resolution and although I usually bring my own shopping bags in the stores where I shop, I had forgotten them in the car this morning. So I stuck my credit card in the machine and asked Carmen if I could still have the 5 cents credit off my bill. She said to sign and go claim my 5 cents to the Customer Service desk that was clearly unattended. After waiting 5 minutes, Larry the supervisor, unapologetically replied that cashiers are not to give customers the 5 cents credit unless they see the customer bring their own shopping bags. I called for the Manager Leo. Leo offered to give me a 5 cents refund and went on to explain that's how the cashiers are trained. If you shop at Pete's and turn down the use of their plastic bags, you cannot get the 5 cents credit unless you bring your own shopping bags but they have to be visible. After all of that was said and done, I decided to leave the nonsense behind including the groceries. I realized Pete's was the kind of business that I should not buy from. And here are the reasons: 1. I will not support a store that is not environmentally friendly and does not encourage its customers to use their own shopping bags whether visible or not. Being a successful brand in the 21st century means your values show in your everyday's actions. 2. I will not support a grocery store that would rather spend 30 minutes arguing with a customer for 5 cents. 3. The cashier, the supervisor and the manager (3 layers of the organization) did not demonstrate any problem solving skills, let alone plain customer service. 4. The customer walking into a store has already made the commitment to make a purchase for as long as they are happy with the products and services, why ruin it over 5 cents instead of taking care of that relationship? It is more cost effective to do just that than spend more advertising dollars to attract new customers into your door. 5. A store should properly train its employees to address customers needs first and to evaluate the risk/ rewards trade off when making decisions against the customers instead of only insisting that their employees follow their internal rules. 6. This case deserves to be included in the list of the "Do Not Do" in Business, Marketing and Customer Service. read more

I was mistreated by the customer service manager at the Willowbrook location. I hope no one else will be mistreated by this individual. The lines were long and they were understaffed. I walked up to the customer service desk to see if they would ring me out since I only had two items. The Manager proceeded to chew me out like I was his child. I am a grown woman and mother, but he felt untitled to talk down to me. If he feels comfortable to talk down to customers this way I can only imagine how comfortable he feels to talk down to his employees. read more

I have been doing most of my shopping at Pete's in Willowbrook. Generally it has a good selection of groceries. Now I'm rethinking going back. The last several times I've gone there I've seen a few people walking around without masks, and many more wearing a mask below their noses, which is as effective as wearing no mask. I've never seen a store employee or manager ask any of these people about it or suggest they wear one. Today the bagger of my groceries wore a mask below his nose while the manager stood next to him. This while the covid numbers are again skyrocketing. I know there will always be customers who won't mask, but the least I expect is for your employees to be properly masked! I'm so disappointed, you can do better. read more

The produce is great. I travels to Tony's in countryside to grab food because I love that they had Eastern European, Indian, and my home country - Mexican products. And now this is 5 minutes away from my house. Instead of the 11 minute drive before Tony's. The prices are great for a family of 4 plus a dog. First trip to Pete's yesterday and was impressed by the large selection of product throughout the store. Prices a bit high but found some things you can't easily at the other chains. One of those items was eye of round which was on sale so I bought a package. All the trays weighed in around a pound and it looked like too little meat in my experience but they were thick cuts so I assumed it was right and grabbed one that listed a weight of 0.99. Today I cooked it and since I am dieting and weigh my portions out after cooking - I had a half pound of meat from one of the leanest (if not the leanest) cuts of beef and no liquid/fat in the pan after cooking. Read another review that says he learned to to ask the cashier to weigh the meat again after being overcharged multiple times. No thanks, I'll just avoid this place. read more

the lady making the burritos is horrible she always limits you to two items and if you ask for something else she tells you in a really disrespectful way it's only two items!! I don't understand why they went from $8 to 10 dollars and give you a hard time about how you want your burrito made ! better off going to chipotle! read more

My Hispanic and Latin people, do yourselves a favor, and avoid this place if you're looking for ingredients to make our authentic cuisine. Also, avoid it if you like premade foods, because all they have is what you'd find at Jewel or other type of bland food. The ceviche they had was horrific. I couldn't spit it out fast enough. The shrimp cocktail tasted like old tomato sauce, but at least it was spicy. I couldn't taste the onions, cilantro, fresh tomato, or the fresh pepper. I tried a few other dishes with shrimp, and again, the shrimp was tough and chewy. The Hispanic or Latin employees act as if they worked for NASA. They carry on and reply with such a self important attitude, it's laughable. Katie and Marcela need to stop gossiping about people passing by and stick to their job. Faces don't need to match ugly attitudes. I had already picked some fruit, so I proceeded to a checkout line. The cashiers all had a resting ( ) face. No friendly and happy workers here, unless I visited on a day where they were all having a crap day. Regardless, even if it's closer, I won't be returning to shop, only to take pictures of their "food". I literally left with a foul taste in my mouth. First time Pete shoppers here and boy were we impressed. At first we were amazed at how neatly stacked everything was on the shelves, but what really impressed us was the friendliness of the staff. Especially Freddy M. When browsing the meat counter he came right up to us and was extremely knowledgeable on the meats and explained everything to us (he knew we were newtimers). We were amazed at how they will tenderize the meats, filet, and trim. This place is amazing and our experience was for sure heightened by Freddy M at the meat counter. This is my regular grocery store. Its clean and spacious with a good selection to choose from. They do have an international section with an Indian section as well with a decent collection of items. Some times some basic items are pricey so watchout. Off-late tomatoes have been pricey regularly for a while now. Overall to sum it up its a good store and one stop shop for all of the essential grocery needs. I like their margarita pizza slices and chicken noodle soup. read more

So disappointed. The produce section looks so appealing but it's not fresh. This is my third time going and I'm done. I can't waste my money only to have to throw it out the next day or two. The meat is also not good, it was spoiled the day before the sell by date. And the aisles are too narrow. I will say they have the best chocolate chip cookies in the bakery section though. read more

Awful experience start to finish. The store is crammed with tiny aisles overloaded with product and crowded with people. Unless you're going at 7am when no one is there don't bother. I also caught quite a bit of attitude from the employees for asking very simple questions which really rubbed me the wrong way. Finally I get to check out and I had brought my reusable bags. The young lady behind the register looked like she'd never seen reusable bags before and didn't know what to do with them. I ended up bagging all my groceries myself. On top of that, all of my produce was bad within 2-3 days. NOPE. I'll be sticking to Mariano's! read more

First time I was using this store. I got prime rib package for New Year's Eve. The price was worth it. It fed 8 to 10 for 99.00. it came with 3 sides. The sides we're nothing special or special to choice from. They gave up Mac and cheese but made it right told us keep the Mac and cheese when they gave the mashed potatoes. Green beans were plain beans nothing different that frozen beans. The meat most inportant we asked for medium. When we got it home it was super rare. Most could hardly eat it. Wasn't worth taken back two hours later when having a party. Don't taste good when cooked more in oven. Not sure I would do it again. read more

Loved loved loved the hot buffet! I go to Mariano's and Tony's usually but the wide variety at Pete's was the winning point! I mean they had oxtails and lamb chops at the buffet! Got something from the bakery and that was delicious too. Aisles are definitely small. Service was great overall, staff could have been a little friendlier! One gentleman went above and beyond to locate something very unique that I was looking for, but the cashiers were too busy entertaining each other to pay attention to me. I went to Pete's in Willowbrook at 8.00 today. I had two loaves of rye bread, nothing else. I went to pay for the bread and found there was no express lane open. I asked the cashier, about an express lane, I only have two items. She said not until 10:00 AM. 10:00 AM? I said okay, where's the self-checkout area? She said Pete's doesn't believe in self-checkout. Huh? This is 2020 not 1920. I have two items, am I expected to stand behind someone with 35 items? Also, Pete's is generally very expensive. It's like they're trying to be a minor league Whole Foods, instead of a normal grocery store like Jewel. It's doubtful that I'll ever return to the Willowbrook Pete's unless I hear from someone that they've decided to join the rest of us in the 21st century. No self-checkout, sheesh. Maybe, Pete's can also abandon bar codes and have the cashiers manually enter all the prices like it's still 1920. read more
