This is a great neighborhood market that carries fresh produce and a surpringly large variety of kitchen staples. We bought a gorgeous, prepared fruit platter and some bakery - made apple cinnamon fritters. They also had tastes available for a variety of cheeses which we grabbed along with a fig spread. I also loved the fact that you don't have to wait in line to check out for 45 mins like you don't some of the other larger stores. read more

I live only a couple of blocks from the Burr Ridge store and have shopped there a minimum of 3 times per week for almost 20 years. I recently retired and have more time on my hands and have been 'shopping the sale items' to save money and for fun. Since I now have time to go to other stores, I've noticed that Brookhaven's produce section is not the best. Lots of less than fresh items still for sale in their produce aisles as well as past due expiration dates on some of their dairy. Their prices are higher than other stores for many items, and many of the items shown on sale in the flyer on their own website, are not on sale when you get to the store. I would not recommend this store, and suggest if you do shop here to check the expiration dates and check your receipt to assure that you received the sale prices. Now that I'm paying more attention, I'm treating this store like a convenience store and not doing my full shopping here. read more

I liked this store until the meat department did me wrong twice. First time they wouldn't cut the eye of round into strips for me. Second time I picked up a piece of meat from the prepackaged meat and it had silver skin and was not cut to any standard. You can tell the guys working in this department are not good workers. We won't be buying any meat from Brookhaven anymore. I found a place that will go in the back and grab more cuts and that's where we are going from now on. This is a great place to shop... The produce always looks great. The sales for the meat department are usually worth going in for that alone. Lots of products and specialty items you won't find at Jewels or the big box stores. Friendly staff...haven't had a poor experience here since they opened. First time ever going to a Brookhaven Marketplace in my life. Wanted to try something different, it wasn't a bad experience at all. Employees are very friendly, they have variety on alot of healthy products, tons of varieties of milk which I enjoyed. Getting in here was hard since the parking lot was packed but the grocery store wasn't. Prices in my opinion are outrageously expensive on certain items but they also have great prices on stuff that is on sale. Bathrooms were average too, the check out process was pretty quick. All in all, it's a pretty modest place to check out. read more

Really enjoy shopping at Brookhaven Burr Ridge. Clean, spacious, lots of options and helpful staff. I like the meat counters, especially the offerings that make me feel like I am actually preparing a meal when in reality, I am just heating up the fajitas that were assembled and all I did was heat and serve. There is a good produce department and no shortage of cheeses. Sales can be great. Makes sense to get on their email list to know what is happening in store. read more

Wonderful neighborhood grocery store--my "go to". Great ethnic foods, and produce. My only complaint is that it's always a struggle to get lunch meat sliced "THIN". What is the problem!? I shouldn't have to be asked 3 times if the slice they show me is okay. Slice it thin and there won't be an issue. Always have to brace myself before ordering, make eye contact with the deli person, and hope I don't have to go 3 rounds to get what I want. Ugh-- read more

Two items get me into your store on a regular basis. Number one. You are the ONLY store I know that carries black radishes. These are so nutritious and I use them for juicing on a regular basis. Overall, I really like shopping at this market. It's close to home, and I can usually get in-and-out quickly. Their selection is pretty good for the most part, and I can get some items that I normally would need to make a trip to Whole Foods for which is a total win in my book. The BEST grocer you can go to. Produce is out of this world fresh, lunch meat counter is full of options, bakery looks (I fear falling in love at first taste) amazing, the prepared section has GREAT options and the olive bar is fresh. I mean damn good, love it fresh. I live close to the other Brookhaven but go to this one often because it is less crowded, the store is bigger, better liquor selection and it is right across from the health club (which membership gets you 10% off veggies). read more

Brookhaven is pretty awesome. I like this one better than the Darien location for one reason... It's bigger and the layout flows a little better. The produce they have is insane & their deli area is just as sick. They have many different sausages, cheeses & goodies for you to grab on the fly for a quick party fix. Also, there are many "heat & eat" options to choose from. I grabbed a slice of their lasagna for a quick meal and must say it was pretty delish, The slice was gigantic and fed me for lunch at work for two days. . . probably could have made it last three but I overindulged (whoops!). Close to eight bucks and I had two meals. Not a bad deal at all! Pizza set-ups, pretty good meat department & all the bare necessities for a meal. You need a bottle of wine, craft beer or whiskey? I really like the quality of the fruits and vegetables here. You'll pay a little more than the big chains here (except for Whole Foods), but sale prices bring their items within the reach of most people. You'll find a greater variety of European imports than most grocery stores around here, which is good if you're shopping for a taste of home or trying to find a personal gift for someone. I think Brookhaven has built a well-deserved reputation for having excellent prepared foods. I've tried everything from their BBQ chicken wings to mashed potatoes, and it all has been top notch. I shop this Burr Ridge location when I need to cater for a gathering. Everything is perfectly prepared and on time- not to mention customer service is great. If you prefer a small marketplace like me, this is it. My favorite place to go for groceries too. The packaged fresh meals near the deli are great grab and go meals and convenient. Something has changed recently - personal opinion is that they have decided to go more "upscale" than they have been. As other reviewers have said, they used to have an amazing selection in the deli, and it was priced on-par with Amici's or even WalMart, but on our last visit, many of the lunch meats we usually get weren't in stock. After asking for 3 things we regularly get there, we asked the young man behind the counter why they no longer carried the items, and he said "we're moving to healthier offerings". OK, so you have different sausages and meats, but have decided that Sara Lee Maple Honey Ham is not healthy? Plus, being foodies, the wife and I aren't particuarly skinny, and it was just a bit offensive. They have expanded the Boar's Head selection, so if you are looking for Boar's Head, it is the place to go. I agree with the comments about produce, but they've changed the deli so much, it's hard to give it more than 2 stars. read more

This place is great. Ask for Fernando the store manager. He will show you the specials and give you additional tastings. The produce is very fresh and almost seems as if it was just cut from the back garden. George the wine geek is very knowledgable and offers honest opinions with price conscious appeal. Good service is so very important - especially these days. That's why I'm always so appreciative of Brookhaven Market. Today it was exceptional. I asked butcher if he could make a special cut for me. Love this grocery store. We have lived in Burr Ridge for over 23 years and have suffered through Bockwinkels, Burr Ridge Market, Bobak's, Country Fresh Foods and now, finally, a grocer who knows the market! The produce is competitively priced. Sometimes, it is ready to eat the day you purchase or it starts to turn, ie. strawberries at $.69 per package. The bananas are great at $.49 per lb. I love their deli counter that has Boar's Head Meats along with the usual Sara Lee and other brands. Other items I purchase are the Amish rotisserie hens at $4.99. The Phil's eggs are almost a $1.00 less than at Whole Foods. Also, Organic Valley products such as the half and half. There are selections of ethnic foods from Italian, to Greek, to Middle East to Mexico to Polish foods available. All at good prices. I also like some of the specialty foods like the potato chips and pita chips. La Briola Bakery bread is available. I love the convenience and the people are very friendly, especially to the elderly customers. like my mom. read more

I need to change my rating (below) for what made them special has slowly eroded away. Petty charges for things like slicing a roast have me transitioning to Caputo's and Pete's when it opens. They seem not to realize we have an ever-increasing array of choices. Just ask the folks at Dominick's. I am a regular at the Brookhaven in Darien and I was once a regular at Bobak's in Burr Ridge until the family feud ruined it. So, when I first visited Brookhaven in Burr Ridge it was like the best of both worlds. This made me very happy. They have a much larger selection of everything at BR than Darien. The deli and meat/fish counters are what I really liked about Bobak's and Brookhaven now delivers on it. The only drawback is they have too few checkout lanes and there may be back ups. If you go here stop next door at Kirsten's bakery first. read more

Whenever I've let the manager know he was great about it and did the right thing. However I don't want to keep having to call up the manager with problems. Nice place. Used to be the old Bobak's, and i can actually see a little hint of that. If you've ever been to a Tony's location, it reminds me of that (minus the type of rude crowd they usually get) except with a Euro and more specifically Polish emphasis on some items (hence, the hint of Bobak's). The food is fresh and there are good deals. The deli area has a lot of very interesting stuff. Breaded tilapia and breaded perch, stuffed portabella mushrooms (although I question why they use RAW sausage on it? You can't even tell it's raw through the tomato sauce and cheese until you cook it and it isn't done) and pierogis. Also, they have a pretty good variety of fresh looking bakery items next to the deli. It all looks pretty good and is sure to be making someone fatter right now. read more

Absolutely the best bakery around. They also have the best spumoni ice cream I've ever eaten; I know because my grandfather said the same thing, & he's 100% Italian! We like the butcher counter they have ,and the deli and seafood is nice to. but the varities in foods is just awesome. We love the frozen gnocchi ,they cook to perfection. There homemade quarts of soups are great. The smokebutts and oxtails have always be of good quallity . So all I can say is try it and you will love it. 8/24/18 I have been shopping at the Burr Ridge Brookhaven store ever since it opened. I moved recently and also shop at the Darien store. Love both the stores, particularly the more European version in Darien, but I won't be returning to the one in Burr Ridge. Just left and after getting "--itched" out by their new and unhappy check out girl, the store is not going to be part of my shopping experience. There are plenty of stores that don't include that as a bonus. read more

Brookhaven is a great place! It has a good amount of beautiful prepared fare, regular grocery staples and decent prices for it all. It comes of as a friendly community store too, even though it is in an "uppity" type area. Usually a store like this would make me feel unwelcome but I definitely enjoyed perusing here. We got seltzer waters for a good price on the day I stopped in last. For me it's been a good place to find a few things but not everything. But still worth a visit! read more

Recently, I have been having an unpleasant experience with shopping at both locations of Brookhaven Marketplace. I usually buy bread from there. Today (Dec.23) I noticed that the bread that I bought on Sunday (Dec.20) has mold. The expiration date is Dec.25. So I suspect that the store is putting a new expiration date so it looks like the bread is fresh because there is no way for the bread to get so moldy in just 3 days.
