I've been bringing my two Shih Tzus, Bailey (7) and Harper (1), to Satomi at Petite Tails since they were each 6 months old, and she is the only groomer I trust with my fur babies. My dogs absolutely love her and, most importantly, trust her, which means everything to me as dog owner. One thing that sets Satomi apart is that she lets the dogs roam free before and after their grooming session instead of keeping them in a kennel like most groomers do. This makes a huge difference for my dogs, and I can tell they're more relaxed as a result. Satomi's scissor cut technique is incredible--it keeps my dogs calm since they don't like the loud buzzers, and their haircuts always turn out beautifully. Went in today to get my dogs nails trimmed, total came up to $10. I've been here once before and thought it was cute and reasonable so I decided to come back for the first time in a while this morning. The women working were very polite and friendly but a bit quiet. Still, they do a good job. One thing I do like is that they get you in and out. If you go in for something quick like a nail cut, they'll gladly stop what they're doing to take care of it so that you won't be waiting on them a long time while they work. They took very good care of my dog as they carried him away as they did with the other dogs that were there. It's a little tiny hole in the wall with the smallest sign ever over the door that says "Dog" but it's definitely worth trying out if you're looking for a good groomer for your beloved dog! read more

Small little place in the corner of a plaza of shops, that I happened to see was open while I was shopping at another market there. It was after 6pm on a Friday but she took me without an appointment for a quick nail trim. It was only $10 and she did an excellent job with my very squirmy Chihuahua. Even though they only had a few reviews, they were all of a 5 star rating, which was enough for me. I have a 20 year old Pomeranian and I've been doing the bathing and trimming at home for the past 3 years. My dog has a heart condition and I didn't want to stress him out. However, his hair has grown out so fast in the past months that I knew It was time to take him to a professional in order to have the bath and cut right. Upon my return, I couldn't believe my eyes. I've been coming to Sue for the past 4 or so years. She used to work in San Pedro. Unfortunately for me she opened her own business. Now I drive 1 hour round trip just to have my dogs groomed. That is the most awful experience I've ever had at a groomers with Itsuko and the owner Satomi! I've never been told I can't come back for service until now with Itsuko the groomer. All I asked was for Itsuko to recut my dogs face which wasn't as short as she did the last time and my other dogs ears which didn't look good longer. From being ignored all the time to being told that we can't come back it is an awful place you don't want to go. I paid her over 400 dollars with tips and she and the manager Satomi are so rude to say we can't come back. That is not customer service. Itsuko ignored my call and texts for 3 days and the first text was one hour after I left for her to recut the hair. I called her cellphone two times a day and a text two times a day and they all went though and she ignored me about recutting the dogs hair. She finally called me on the fourth day. I said I've been calling and texting you how come you didn't reply? I was feeling ignored. She said I don't answer the phone or text back on my days off. I said i was there an hour ago at 1 pm and it was 2 pm you end work at 5 pm... she said yeah I don't text. I said you texted me the night before at 8 pm to bring the dogs for their appointment so that makes no sense. I tell her I want the dogs face recut and her body is too long and she says she won't recut the body , I said ok can you cut it shorter next time? This is when the situation is awkward. She got really quiet and said I don't know I don't know. I said what do you mean you don't know? you said I can come back in 2 months 4 days ago. Then she said there's a lot of dogs here we have to do our work. I said I waited 4 days to talk to you and it's been 5 minutes. Then I said I feel uncomfortable like you don't want us to come back anymore. I said I want to talk to your manager satomi. Then they laugh and speak in Japanese and said the manager won't talk to you. She said I have to go I said I want to talk to you she said I don't underhand why youre keeping me on the Phone. I said because you're trying to say we can't come anymore and I want to talk about it. Also if you don't reply on the text or phone then why don't you reply once and say you're not working and will reply in 4 days? It makes me feel ignored. Then she said she will call back at 5 pm. She called me and she said see you tomorrow to trim and I said wait I wanted to talk to you. Then she said bye bye. I went the next morning and I texted her pics of the face cut. She said how much do you want to cut I said more to have the eyes open up and to do it like the first time. She gave me a Paper and pen and said write it down how much to cut. I said I don't know how much to estimate for the face but I want it neat and round. I had to go and come back to pick them up. She texted me a picture of my dog and what she did and she called me and I said please a little shorter. Then she said if it's too short people are upset I said do the same cut as the first time. said can I make the appointment for February and she said her schedule is full and she can't. I said you said you 3 days ago there were appointments and you'd call me back. I said are we allowed to come back? She said no it's not working out. I said what do you mean it's not working? She said she had to redo the cut. I said yeah it wasn't as short as it was before and I'd like to come back she said no it's not working out sorry Satomi was laughing over the phone too and wouldn't come on the line. read more

I wanted to give this place 5 stars! But I can't lie ... I'm disappointed . From the moment I steeped in the shop the lady at the front desk was just plain rude , I said Hi and she said Hi , does your dog have fleas?, Ehhh ... I don't think so ? she is on flea control . (But nice way to break the ice) so then she said ok it's flea season so I need to know if she has fleas because if she does there is an extra charge for flea shampoo . I said ok .... then she made me fill the Information/contact sheet , she also said that since my dog was big the price was probably going to be more than what she said over the phone when i told her i had a Husky , I told her i live around the corner and i was happy i found them i asked her if she was the owner and she said No and pointed at another lady that was giving a cute doggie a beautiful hair cut , the other lady smiled said Hi! and seemed very sweet. So i got told by the employee to come back in 3 hrs and I left . After 15 min of me dropping my dog I got a call from the employee saying that My dog had knots and that there was an extra charge of $10 for that . I said ok. After the 3 hours I went and got my dog , first thing she said was that my dog had diarrhea and then she said 'soft stools I mean', I said how come ? And she said, well the dog pooped right here (by the front desk) I was in total shock my dog has never done that! I said I'm sorry about that, Then she said , also she doesn't like the water , it was very hard to give her a bath :-( Are you kidding me ?!!! Really ?! My sweet dog has been to a few places for baths and even some mobile groomers and they have never said anything like that! I told her my dog loved the water , she runs through the sprinklers in the backyard all the time so I had not idea what she was talking about ! After all that I ended up paying almost double of what other places normally charge me. My dog didn't smell of anything nice when I got her , didn't have a bandana or anything cute on her and she was extremely thirsty when we got home (3min away from the shop) and her ears are still dirty . I don't understand all the positive reviews ! I guess everybody else has little dogs and they do a better job on those cute little ones but my dog was treated so bad. Service was so rude , that lady at the front is rough around the edges . I will keep looking around I would not recommend this place to anybody at all. read more

Still coming here with the first dog and with a new long hair chihuahua.. Whose face hair doesn't grow but body hair gets super long. Other places (when I'm in a rush and this place is booked many weekends in advance) will cut all around her and leave the face.. So it's very choppy.. But this groomer lady at petite tails will transition the hair through the neck to make it look clean. Why pay elsewhere when a little more will get you that perfect look? You will not regret coming here that's for sure. And my dogs don't come out scared for their lives from here. read more

I've been taking my shih tzu, Lupe Green, to Satomi for the last 5 or 6 years now. She used to be the groomer at Centinela and then opened up her own business and from the looks of it, she's doing great! Lu always comes back smelling fresh, looking cute, and never injured (which has happened at a few other places that I've brought her to, though I don't blame them really since Lu is so fidgety). She's patient and though sometimes she does take longer than expected, it's because she's trying to get my little Lu's hair to be perfect without stressing her out. Lu hates getting baths and getting her hair cut, but hey, me too sometimes. So if you have a dog and want him or her to look absolutely adorable and not be a stress case when you get him or her back, take them to Satomi. But make sure to make an appointment. I like weekends, and I have to make the appointments TWO MONTHS in advance! That's how you know she's good. That's even more advance notice than I need for my own haircut... read more
