To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to express my disappointment regarding my experience at Petra Pet Clinic this morning. My daughter and I have been bringing our dog to your clinic for years. Throughout that time, we have always paid for services and have maintained what I believed was a positive relationship with your staff. As I was leaving the clinic today, a staff member walked out to my car and asked if I had paid for my dog's services. I was shocked and offended by the question. I had my receipt and had no intention of leaving without paying. The staff member appeared uncomfortable asking me, which gave me the impression she may have been instructed to do so by someone else. Feeling disrespected, my daughter and I returned inside the clinic to address the situation. Before I could speak with the lead staff member at the front desk, another employee stopped me and told me that I had not paid and had not been charged. This conflicting information only added to my confusion and frustration. I then asked a simple question: "Do you even want our business here?" because I was struggling to understand why I was being singled out. Instead of receiving understanding, I was met with dismissive behavior. One staff member rolled her eyes and was rude when I expressed my concerns. I was also told, "Don't be offended." Respectfully, I do not believe anyone else gets to decide how I should feel after being approached and questioned about whether I paid my bill. What continues to bother me is why I was the only customer approached in this manner. After years of being a loyal client, I expected to be treated with more respect and professionalism. Being questioned in the parking lot as though I might leave without paying was embarrassing and humiliating and I'm doing my best to not make it about the color of my skin. I would appreciate an explanation of why this happened and why I was singled out. More importantly, I hope the clinic takes this feedback seriously so that no other customer has a similar experience. The best veterinarian in the area, Callie and Sadie have had the best care since we've moved to this doctor. Everything from checking in to leaving has been the smoothest for me, also while I have my kid sometimes, which can be hectic. Whenever I need some answers I can easily call, and it's also easy to call in if I need their medication. read more

Petra Pet Clinic is a nice place to take your pets. The Dr doesn't rush and is good with pets. The nurses/ assistants are very kind and gentle and you can tell they love animals. So far I've brought one dog and two cats here. The facility is clean and it is big, don't let the small lobby fool you. I'm glad I found this vet. Dr. Kim has been taking care of my family's pets for over 15 years now. I have recommended this practice to all friends with pets. Since we first started coming to Petra Pet Clinic, I have lost my cavalier King Charles spaniel and my chihuahua/shih tzu mix due to old age. Dr. Kim and his office have shown the utmost care and compassion both times and I am so appreciative that they gave me the time and grace to say goodbye to my beloved dogs. Having senior dogs comes with a lot of worry and health issues. Petra Pet Clinic's prices are reasonable (including blood work, x-rays, check ups, vaccines). I also appreciate that Dr. Kim was direct, humorous and practical with his advice (our dogs got to a point in life where surgery was too risky and he advised me to focus on keeping the last few days comfortable). When I brought my crusty, senior dog in for her last few check up (not knowing she would pass soon), we all had a good chuckle when he exclaimed "wow, still alive!" Yes, she lived a nice, long life and Petra Pet Clinic played a part in how resilient she was. We adopted a spaniel/beagle mix from a rescue and take her here for vaccines and general care. Dr. Kim was able to offer insight about her that the rescue was not able to provide (our dog probably had a litter of puppies before she came to us, her age is younger than what the rescue told us, she has some trauma to her teeth probably from biting on a chain). Our dog does not feel anxious at the vet which is surprising given her past but also reassuring since the office is so gentle and kind. My 7 year old husky has been have a lot of eye discharge lately that would not subside. I yelped low cost vet clinics in my area and Petra Pet Clinic popped up. The reviews are high for a reason. They were able to squeeze my dog I n the next day. The whole visit was only $75 for the visit and the eye drops. The vet and staff were nice and made sure Akira was comfortable. I'll for sure be bringing my other dog when it's time for her vaccines. Upon leaving Akira was given a Kong frisbee and a Kong treat toy which was so nice. Side note, they offer 10% vaccines on Wednesday. The office is small but is located in a shopping center so it has plenty of parking. read more

I visited this clinic about 4times and I'm okay with the vet but front desk lady was extremely annoyed. She talked too much with one customer too long kept waiting other customer too long. It really annoyed me. And she scolded me not bring the dog on time. I live pretty far away from this clinic and I don't have for myself and I have to make schedule with my husband. I love this vet. They're friendly and super responsive. I have taken my dog Bart here multiple times now and they are so patient and understanding with my concerns and worries since Bart is a senior dog. Now as he is getting into older age, he has a variety of sorts when it comes to health issues. He has back problems and was having severe flea and skin issues. Doctor Kim and his staff have given medication that has helped Bart immensely and that has brought me peace of mind. I have taken my dog here for the past 5 years and Petra Pet Clinic has been providing the best care and customer service. I had previously gone to another vet where they said my dog needed teeth extraction and etc. but I came here and Dr. Kim said the opposite! On the contrary, he said my dog didn't need an extraction because he was eating normally with no pain. The one tooth was showing signs of rotting but not to the extent of needing extraction. His honesty earned my trust and I've been going to this vet ever since. Dr. Kim would address all of my concerns for my pet and would provide different options and advice. He never pressured any unnecessary procedures. Vaccines, teeth cleaning, X-rays, prescriptions were all reasonably priced and there was no additional underlying charge compared to other veterinary clinics. Cathy at the front desk is also always so kind and helpful with scheduling appointments and payment processes. She would also follow up on any upcoming vaccines my dog needed. They also have a cute friendly cat that lounges around! I no longer have my dog anymore but in the time he was here, Petra Pet Clinic was the best vet care. read more

My dog ate something off the floor at the dumpster when I went to throw something away while taking her for a walk. I thought nothing of it until we got home from the walk and her stomach was mildly extended and she was in clear discomfort whenever she would lay down. I called my primary vet but they were fully booked. I called different places and they couldn't take her as they were booked as well and recommended me to go to an emergency vet. That was going to be my absolute last resort as I had a shocking experience at CASE with they charged me $13k before for something that wouldve cost not even half of that cost at my primary vet. Thankfully I took my chance and called Petra. They were also fully booked but told me to bring my dog over ASAP and told me there would be a wait. I was completely fine with that as I was coming in on a last minute announcement. I'm so grateful that they took my dog in and took a look at her. Now I know there's anther reliable vet and staff who genuinely cares about animals. They were also so sweet and kind. I highly recommend this place. They also offer non anesthetic dental cleaning. This is something that I have been requesting to my dog's primary vet, but they would constantly tell me that she does not need dental cleaning even though I do see some buildup. May 2022, Business is a bit hidden from street view so drive slow when you driving on beach. The clinic entrance offers a waiting area for pet parents to wait and check in with the medical staff. The clinic accepts all animal insurance. The one wait time from checking in to having a vet tech see my dog was no more than 10 minutes. The Vet was able to quickly diagnosed my dog and provided medication that was fulfilled at the same time. Overall I would recommend checking this location out since it offers quick and accurate service for your pets. read more

I took my seven year old Shih Tzu mix to Petra Pet for what I thought was something under his eyelid. Dr. Kim examined Edward Clayton and didn't find anything in the eye. (Another vet had diagnosed him as having conjunctivitis - but after two weeks of medication, he still had a very red eye.) Dr. Kim did bloodwork and found very high cortisol levels and high cholesterol. He suggested having an abdominal ultrasound since Eddie's symptoms were sometimes indicative of cancer. Long story short, because of Dr. Kim's thorough evaluation and care, Eddie is alive today. Eddie did have adrenal gland cancer. He also had very high blood pressure. Dr. Kim referred us to VCA Fountain Valley - where Eddie had his adrenal gland removed by Dr. Vinayak. If you need a first-class veterinarian where the staff care - go to Petra Pet. read more

I've been going to this vet for a few years. I am first time cat owner and have two male cats. I have especially skittish cats and have a hard time getting them to the vet, but have unfortunately had to bring them in multiple times, for asthma and broken bones etc. the people at this clinic are always friendly and they get you in so quick and are flexible. When I call they are usually able to take my cat the same day. I have a particularly hard time catching one of my cats and am not able to make their scheduled appointment sometimes. They are always so understanding and able to squeeze him in when I am able to get him in the carrier. If you're looking for friendly people who really care about your animal, definitely take them here. Petra clinic is the best around. To be honest I have not gone to any other vets, but Petra has been there in all my times of need. When we got our rescue dog named Kash, the rescue recommended us to Petra. They said the pricing was good, and they were really good with dogs. They were not lying! Kash does get a little nervous around new people, but when he comes here he does fine and lets the vet check him out without any struggles. There is a cat named Zero that lives at Petra. He called personally to give me the results next day. We tried another close clinic (initials starting with V) and their initial estimate for everything they recommended was over a grand. 11-3-2016. Well it's been one week today that my 7 pound Maltese fought a massive fight with a coyote. Unfortunately, one coyote took my baby, 13 week, puppy, but I saved my Maltese. I immediately took him in here and Dr Kim came to the rescue. With such tenseness and loving care, he and his staff worked on him to access the situation. Today, he had the drainage tubes removed and maybe next week the staples can come out. I have been coming to Petra pet clinic since I moved to Buena Park over 19 years ago. They are consistent. And prove to be loyal to their paw clients (and their owners). Dr Kim, is GREAT AT WHAT GE DOES! Trust him, I do and did with my dogs life. Thank you, Dr Kim. I had a 17 years old golden retriever/lab and 6 months before he passed I took him over to him just for a check up. (I wanted to make sure he wasn't suffering- be cause he hadn't lived this long to suffer at the end) he gave him a complete look over and told me, "Ma'am, he's not suffering, he's just old." I'll start off by saying all the staff and the vet were very nice. I called in a panic in the morning asking for an appointment that same day, and luckily they were able to get my dog in that afternoon. My review is based solely on the service of the vet. My dog was having issues walking and standing, and I couldn't figure out what happened with her. The day previous was very hot, and she went on a pack walk with a trainer and other dogs to practice socialization. My first thought was dehydration or a hurt paw, which I explained to the vet. The vet was very nice over the phone (because of COVID I couldn't go in), but she wouldn't check my dogs paws. She said she wasn't presenting with symptoms of a hurt paw, which would be limping and licking. I told her that I would really like it if she could check her paws, since she went on an extensive walk the day prior. The vet still wouldn't check her paws, reiterating her symptoms and that she could stand just fine in the office. We left the vet with essentially no diagnosis and to just keep an eye on her. Fast forward to a week later, and my picture reflects my dog's paws. These are her 2 front paws, which would obviously make it difficult to limp if both front paws were hurt. It looks like they were severely burnt, likely from the walk that I referred to. While I know this isn't the vet's fault, and I'm not sure what the vet could do in this situation, I would've preferred if the vet checked her paws and could confirm the damage. I'll also not be taking her back to that dog walk program, which is based in Newport Beach. read more
