Petra's Playschool is an absolute gem. Tucked away in a quiet, safe neighborhood, the children play each day in a forest-like setting and thoughtfully curated classroom. Our daughter was a true pandemic kid who hadn't even had a babysitter before starting with Miss Petra and Miss Kathleen for their MWF program. As nervous parents, we were quickly put at ease with these wonderful teachers. We opted against public TK and would make the same decision a thousand times over. The small class size, shaded outdoor access, and balance of structured and free play time made the decision easy. He attended this school for two years and is now a thriving Kindergartner that is more than academically prepared. All of the teachers in the elementary schools recognize the students that have come here. Every kid wakes up each day begging to go to school. The environment is nurturing and kind with a small student to teacher ratio that truly gives one-on-one attention. The setting is relaxing yet provides just the right amount of structure to learn. We researched and visited quite a few schools and we finally landed here for many reasons. In these uncertain times, they really prioritize child safety. I like that the school is not located in a commercial area where it would have more traffic and draw more attention. The school's physical layout is a great balance between indoor and outdoor learning environments. The outdoor area is unique because the kids are able to interact with nature. They have a much greater variety of activities than other schools and they have even more in storage that they rotate in and out. The teachers foster an environment of respect and caring, and it is obvious that they love what they do. The owner is very organized and communicates so well with parents. Our kid has really blossomed right in front of our eyes in the short time she has been there and she really enjoys it. I'm so glad kept looking and found this school. read more

I can't say enough great things about Petra's Playschool! The school is warm, bright and happy. It is easy to see that the teachers are passionate, experienced, knowledgeable, and compassionate people, who went out of their way to understand my little girls and maintain communication regarding their accomplishments and struggles. Petra does an amazing job of making learning fun - the school has the perfect balance of academics in a relaxed environment where the kids can learn, grow, and have fun. When my son was getting ready to turn three, I remember well researching and visiting preschools in our area. The day we went to visit, we knew this was our new home away from home. The teachers, who have been together for years, were both very warm and welcoming. It is with pleasure I share my thoughts in regards to Petra's Playschool...A mom of soon to be "3" searched for almost a year for the perfect school for my 4 year old daughter. She spent her first four years with me and her grandparents so it was important for me to find a loving environment she could transition into. I toured six different preschools in the Placer County area, and was convinced I would never find the right fit. I wanted my daughter to have structure, AND freedom. I wanted extraordinary activities and academics, and I wanted my child to experience love outside of our home. I just happened to look on google at a last ditch effort to locate a preschool and called Petra. She was professional yet friendly and offered for me to "stop by anytime". My daughters experience at Petra's was beyond my expectations. I commuted from Lincoln to Rocklin and altered my schedule to make sure my daughter was able to attend Petra's school. Petra's Playschool is a wonderful preschool. We heard amazing things about it from our friends and it did not disappoint. We came from another preschool and the difference was amazing. My kids looked forward to preschool/summer camp and couldn't wait to go. No tears when dropping them off. Ms. Petra and Ms. Kathleen make the kids feel so welcome and included and special. The kids are involved in art projects daily and there are chickens they can hold and a friendly little guinea pig. It truly is a magical place for the kids. On top of the art projects, yoga, and fun games they play, the kids learn so much too! It's the perfect combination of play and learning. Kids graduate preschool with confidence in the things they have learned and social skills better than I've seen anywhere else. Petra and Kathleen really love these kids and it shows. Petra's Playschool? Absolutely incredible! My husband and I reside in the East Roseville area with our 3 young children. We were on the search for a good preschool for our oldest daughter because the preschool she was currently enrolled in was just not meeting our needs. We wanted someplace that was small, loving, clean, safe and most importantly, someplace were our children could learn and have fun at the same time. Our friend, Marsha, told us about Petra's Playschool. By that time, the 12 spots that Petra had were already full as it was the middle of Fall. When we went to visit, we were enthralled... never before had we seen anything like it... A preschool quietly tucked away in a beautiful, serene neighborhood in the Rocklin area, right off Sierra College. The pathway down to the preschool lined with children's handprints from all the many years Petra's has been in business. Miss Petra and Miss Kathleen were so welcoming. The children were having a blast, painting their names in shaving cream outside in Petra's gated backyard. Organic snacks and meals were served to perfection. Each of the children looked so happy, so loved. I thought to myself, "This is like a dream come true, a place I would have liked to go as a child". We waited for the following year so we could enroll our second child. He was born premature and in earliest years had a few learning setbacks. This was the perfect place for him. He was still in diapers and 2 years old when he began. There was not a day that I took him in which he was sad to leave me or didn't want to stay. My son continued there for 3 years and graduated to kindergarten when he turned 5. Now, our little guy enjoys going to Petra's on drop-in basis. As far as acedemics, Petra and Kathleen use a variety of materials. My son's favorite...zoophonics. The holiday party and presentation by the children is my favorite. I could go on and on.
