I wouldn't change this personal service for anything. A rare find! The front part of the store is almost managed separately. They know the best and healthiest otc products and can guide you. Lots of it is gifts and things for the teenagers in town, very important. Overall an essential component of town I will always support.

At the time of my visit, late October, they didn't have too much in Hallmark specific products, but did have a lot of cards and were starting to put Thanksgiving out. They also have lots of gifty items, like candles, stuffed animals, books, and Fascias chocolates (locally made). There were registers in the middle of the store, but everyone was lined up at the pharmacy so maybe I happened to come in during a lunch break? Parking was okay but hard to see the lines, so people were just kind of wherever. Masks are required in the age of Covid.

Of course their historic building is crowded with greeting cards, gifts, and OTC health/personal care products--that's how independent pharmacies stay in business now. Yes they are extremely busy, if you have medicine that needs to be picked up my advice is stop at McDonald's First grab a snack then head to the CVS pharmacy drive thru, it beats standing in a long line inside us you can munch on your snack and jam to music while waiting. If you do head inside the place is always neat and clean, the employees that I encountered are always friendly and stop what there doing if you need help locating an item. Today after picking up one I was informed the coast was $80, much to my surprise, because for a number of years there was no co pay on this particular one. I asked them if it was run through my insurance and they said it was, without offering any further assistance. My wife went down and they did not assist her either and were slight rude. Long story short we called our insurance carrier and they had changed the med to a different tier in their system which in return resulted in a higher copay. Now I am not saying CVS in Torrington is responsible for this by any means, but come on, a little customer service notifying us it was a different brand would have been nice and a great help. Especially from someone that pledges an oath to patient center care. All said and done, I will not be going back to the Torrington CVS.

I get lost wandering through the aisles, inspecting the myriad products on display. Keep in mind, there's usually only one of anything. If you need two, you're out of luck until it's back in stock (the owners are very good about ordering for you if you need more of something). Also, there's not a lot of brand choices. You can find either the most popular brand, or the generic version of something. Not really a big deal. They have a huge selection of greeting cards, a big pile of plush animals (I bought a stuffed T-Rex there as a gift), a lot of pewter items, and wearables emblazoned with "Woodbury". There's a whole wall of candles, including hard to find colors of tapers (who would have thought there was such a demand for black candles in town?) I can't speak to the pharmacy end. Luckily, I rarely need a prescription. When I do need medicine, it's OTC, and I can always find something. The owners are well versed in what they carry and make spot-on recommendations for what ails you. The owners are also supportive of the community. I've never had a problem having them hang up a poster for a club event, they allow the club space in front of the store to sell our annual raffle tickets, and it's the place for our eyeglasses collection box. I don't know of any association in town that has been turned away when they want to promote themselves in front of the store. If you're in the area, and need of a nostrum, a birthday card, or a little tchotchka, this is the place to go.
