I was a little skeptical when we began walking, and the path basically crossed between golf courses. But once we walked further in, I forgot it even existed. This is a beautiful huge park. We walked a full circle, but came across multiple bridges that led off into other areas. They have a lot of sheltered areas that would be great for big groups, and covered completely in case of any rain. I wish I would have taken a picture of them, because they're cute and interesting looking structures. There are great paved paths, along with some other dirt paths that lead along or further down to the river/stream. Great for hikers, bikers, strollers, dogs, and wheelchairs depending which path you take. Not to mention the great dog park and biergarten located here as well. This is really like a 'super park' with everything its got going on. We made the trip down from Milwaukee, complete with a beer and giant pretzel post-hike, and we've added it to our return hiking spots.

Since I grew up in Kenosha, I have visited this park many times. I have a vast collection of fond memories and look forward to many more. The park is spacious with many parking lots, playgrounds and trails for walking. There is a golf course, dog park, softball diamond and volleyball nets. There are also grills, restrooms and a new beer garden. It is family, pet and photography friendly. You could spend the entire day there doing a variety of things. Even if the park becomes a bit busy, it is large enough to still find your own uncrowded space to unwind. I will certainly return many times more in the future!

They now have a beer garden! Kickball leagues going, bags, large jenga, campfires! We rode bikes there & they have a post with all the tools you could use - which was perfect bc we had to adjust my friends seat & forgot the tool! The park itself is also one of my favs - great paved paths, I've rollerbladed, run & road biked - some challenging hills by the golf course. They also have mountain bike paths!!! A dog park, too. Playgrounds. The first time I tried Pokemon go was here (lol) Good times, always - Cheers to you Pets!!!!

Spectacular place to go for a walk!! Lots of trails through the trees. Paved path that's I think 2.7 miles if you do the whole loop. Took my dog there and ended up walking little over 5 miles with all million trails. Beautiful area! There's an off leash dog park, lots of play grounds, benches, BBQ areas, and tons of exploring paths.

    Beautiful drive

This is a beautiful park. I only had time to drive through it but they had a couple of nice play grounds for kids and looked like plenty of parking. The dog park looked well taken care of and not overly crowded. Could see people out on the golf course so it seems like a well used park. The proximity to Parkside campus is a bonus for the students. Great park and beautiful this time of year.

The overall park was a nice size, mostly lawn and the pond. There was a picnic table under a covered roof and a bench facing the pond. This is a great park for dogs that love to run and swim! There is also a second space for small dogs. The swimming pond is located in the large dog area. Double entry gates are present for both play spaces. I didn't explore the other areas of the park but it appeared to have a children's play area as well as other outdoor spaces.

They correct their dogs (unlike other parks) but there's not much need of that here. Most of the dogs are so well behaved and they all just have a blast together. There's a cool bone shaped pond in the middle of the bigger dog area for the pups to romp in and cool down in on hot days. It's bottom is sand, not mud so they don't get too dirty. They have a smaller area for smaller dogs. My Gretel is wee but she doesn't stay in the small area if me and our big baby puppy, Hanso, are in the big area. So she just comes with abs rules over the park. Just ask anyone about Gretel and that's what they say, not me. Lol There are picnic tables and benches to sit on for our old tired bones. Kids are welcome and there's a playground outside the dog section. Right by a yet BIGGER pond with a walking path around it. Many dog folks walk their dogs around that one as well. They even provide poop bags at both dog park areas to clean up after your fur children. Everyone is welcome as long as their dogs aren't "vicious" like Gretel the Vocal Queen. See ya here!

Today, my boyfriend and I rented a paddleboat for an hour. The weather forecast indicated rain…read morewouldn't start until 1:00 PM, so we thought we had plenty of time. However, around 12:20 PM, the sky turned black. We immediately turned around and began pedaling back to the dock as fast as we could. While we were heading back, a safety staff member on a speedboat approached us. He told us we had to return to shore but added that he couldn't tow us in--we had to pedal all the way back ourselves. While we were already doing that, the storm was rolling in incredibly fast, and it was a genuinely scary experience. As we finally approached the dock in the storm, we saw two teenage employees who had been assisting people earlier. One of them looked right at us, but instead of helping us secure the boat, both boys ran back into the covered checkout area and completely ignored us. As we struggled to park and tie up the boat in the pouring rain, not a single staff member stepped out to help us dock safely. Meanwhile, at least 10 employees were crowded inside the checkout area. As a person of color, I am unfortunately always hyper-aware of how I might be treated in certain environments. I have visited this forest preserve many times, always thought it was beautiful, and was so excited to show my boyfriend around. To be treated with such a lack of care was incredibly disappointing. When we spoke to the male manager, he explained that they are required to clear the water during storms. My boyfriend clarified that we had no issue with leaving the water; our issue was the complete lack of staff assistance to help us dock safely in a dangerous situation. The manager offered us a "rain check" for a free rental, but missing out on time wasn't the issue--our safety was. No one seemed to care that we were the last ones out on the water. I hope this forest preserve implements a better emergency protocol, because storms on the water can quickly become life-threatening. I guess my question is if the staff are closely checking the weather , why even let people still go out on the water ? Instead of saying "hey there's a storm that is going to be rolling through , we are holding back on rentals at this time for safety reasons " .
