I'm very happy this new store opened up in my neighborhood. These owners are very friendly and knowledgeable. The price on the kibble I buy is cheaper here than at B&B. I went there for the first time before Christmas to buy a dog toy for my niece's dog. I had to go back to get another one for my sister's dog who tried to steal it. (She had received something else.) The selection is not as vast as at B&B but it's adequate and the owners seem receptive to input about what people are looking for. I hope they do well. read more

Every dog that walks into the store get attention and love. If they are busy with other customers, the store mascot, Murphy will surely greet you. They carry quality products and most of their prices beat major competitors- pet food express, petco, petsmart, and even amazon-- you name it. Jonathan has also helped train my puppy and other dogs rid of of their bad habits. Whatever quirks your dog has, he probably has training technique that can help. I've visited all of the neighborhood pet food stores and this place is by far the nicest. No messy cluttered feeling. The decor can be a bit better. For a store on the corner with many windows it seems really dark inside. They have fairly priced food and if they don't carry it they will special order stuff for you too at no extra charge! Awesome! I've been a huge support of Cal's on California Street for many years and I still go there to get my kibble. But this place has Primal. They keep it in the back and they actually have this frequent shopper program where you buy like 12 bags and you get one free. I was shocked that many places don't offer that, but Pet's Corner does. And at almost $30 a bag...that's major savings. The service is amazing and the little rugrat always leave with a treat..or two...or heck a bully stick in her mouth! I give them mad props for asking me if (1) the rugrat can have a treat and (2) if she is allergic to whatever they are offering. Being a mom of a rugrat with allergies...I really really appreciate the inquiry. Never had a bad experience. Now I'm torn between going to Cal's vs. Pet Corner. read more

I almost couldn't find anything I usually buy here, but that isn't because they don't have a good selection-- they just carry different products than I'm used to. The woman behind the counter was very welcoming. Suggested all sorts of substitutes for what I was searching for in a pleasant, non-intrusive way. Super friendly, very nice. My boyfriend and I stopped here the other day on a whim. We were in the area and I felt like spoiling our dog Butters. What a great place to find!! The owner is such a nice guy and the store's resident dog Murphy got along with Butters great! The owner was so helpful in helping find a treat our dog would love (raw beef marrow bones) and a harness that drastically decreased how much our dog pulls during walks. I have since moved out of the Richmond and still make the trek over here because the service and prices cannot be beat!! All furry children are spoiled and loved here. The owner really educates himself on diet for animals and a lot of items/products here are on a recommended basis. If you see something they don't have, try asking for it!! He is super nice! I stumbled across this store as I was leaving Wells Fargo Bank across the street. Although I don't own a pet now, I've been seriously considering adopting again. My previous dog Cody Bear passed away not long ago and I went into this store today to see what kind of things doggies item this store carries.. Not only Jonathan, the guy @ the cashier was really helpful, he definitely knows what it takes to raise a dog. AND I fell in love w/ Murphy!!! he's so CUTE and adorable. This place is really great! I have 2 cats, Clementine & Aloysius, who especially appreciate Pet's Corner's proximity to our apartment since it leaves me with no excuse to be lazy. The owners are super friendly & helpful & informative, but in no way pushy. I checked out this place last night. I live close to B & B pet supplies, but the staff there isn't very helpful or friendly, so I thought I'd find a place that wants my business! Not only was I greeted by the owner, but also by Murphy the huge Bernese Mountain Dog. The owner helped me find what I wanted (the prices are better too), and asked me about my cats, what litter they use and if there was anything he could order for me. We decided to switch after being convinced by my brother who had recently adopted a boxer and wanted the best food for his puppy. I THOUGHT dog food was dog food... So, we decided to order a med size bag and see how it went. He definitely liked the food and even in the transition there wasn't any diarrhea or any potty problems. After about a week, you could see a difference in his coat. What was once dull and lack luster, had a sheen and a softness that just made you want to pet!! Then the pads of his feet began to change...softer, almost as if someone had put lotion on them! The shedding stopped! So did the itching!! ... and this was when I KNEW We had found our dog food. They were not open at 9am on a Tuesday like Yelp told me. I ran another errand then returned since they're close to me. It turned out they open at 11am. Not the hugest deal. I walked in and the owner's big dog was lying by the door. I told the owner what I was looking for. He wasn't very friendly, to say the least. I was carrying a small dog to make sure what I was looking for fit. The owner's very large dog came up to me and the very small dog I was carrying jumped onto me a bit. The owner said that his dog was friendly. I didn't disagree. But the dog I had was still a puppy and hasnt had all her vaccinations. He was a bit rude after that, telling me that she needs to get used to other dogs, and that she would be fine. I told him nicely that once she's ready to interact, I would do that but only after all her vaccinations were completed. He pretty much ignored me after he told me his dog was VERY friendly. Barring the personal interaction, I did browse the store. They seem to cater to large dogs, so if you have a small teacup puppy, this would not be the place to frequent. Their selection was pretty sparse for clothing, even for larger dogs. The leashes were pretty much what you see anywhere. There was a good selection of food and other items as well. The prices seemed on par with other stores. I'd recommend this store for shopping for pet supplies, but i did NOT like the judgemental interaction I had with the owner. I've had far better interactions on the streets from strangers. read more

My dog had been having the worse allergy problems I have ever seen on his food. I came by here after finding out they sell Orijen dog food. I talked to the owners for a few minutes and found out most food allergies are from meat. Who knew? They recommended Acana Lamb and Apple. Ever since I switched his food to Acana his allergies have gotten much better. The hair on his paws is starting to grow back and his bald spots are getting much better. You would expect the prices at a small business pet store to not be as competitive as stores like Pet Food Express or Petco. Their prices are the same if not lower than most big box pet companies. They are very knowledgable about what they are selling so that is a bonus in my book. read more

I always thought this store was either closed or not open yet-there's barely anyone inside when you walk by. Last week we explored all the petstores we could reach without going on an out-of-town trip, getting this and that for our new adopted Akita pup that we are finally picking up tomorrow. Honestly, out of all the neighbourhood pet stores this one seems to be the most affordable. Good dog food here, (Taste of the Wild, Innova) especially for us flat broke, poor sods who don't have a car and can't be too choosy of where to shop for anything , is actually reasonably priced-and they have a discount now until the 1st. Guys who own the store are extremely friendly and JUST told us to call back anytime and promised to get some big Kong toys and a super-sized crate. They have a large, quiet and determined tricolour Bernese pup that slowly but surely followed us around the aisles watching closely what food we looked at in quiet hope that it's for him. Store owner was sweet enough to send us off with a little sampler treat for our new dog and Bernese very politely and quietly attempted to insist that we re-gift the present back to him with sighs, nudges, winks and expressions of sadness and general disapproval of our total disregard for his suggestion. But we don't believe those crocodile tears. We are certainly coming back for that cool doggy backpack. read more

If there was parking...any parking...I'da thrown up 5 stars. Location, location, location. It's a good one, I love this place, but if I go, I'm walking with the granny cart in tow to help me get the 38 lbs bag of dog food home 'cause parking is nonexistent. Eh, every 2nd or 3rd bag I throw it over my shoulder and hike it down 2nd Avenue to my house just to know I still can...and I can. I'm all about sparing the air, walking, running and taking the granny cart. When I don't listen to my granny senses, I get Motezuma's Granny's Revenge: aching back, sore neck and pinched upper right buttock (sometimes left). Yay! Rejoicing over finding a great pet store so close to me! I needed a temporary clawing fixture while my kitty's "tree" is in another town, and they have these wonderful cardboard clawing devices (catnip included) for 10 bucks or less! They carry Natural Balance pet food, which can be difficult to find sometimes. They have an excellent selection of cat and dog treats, grooming supplies, and the woman who helped me was very sweet and informative. It's not a giant superstore, but they seem to have a good selection of items, and its a place that makes picking up pet food an enjoyable errand :) read more

Tonight was the first time I went to this pet store. A friend of mine had the odd experience of a guy coming up to her, handing her a puppy, and then leaving her with it. She asked me to help her get some supplies for the poor little pup. Jonathan was extremely helpful and helped me get all the basic supplies I needed. He also provided me with tips to care for the puppy. When I told him that my friend may not be keeping the puppy he told me that the store also helps puppies find homes. Though the store is fairly small, it is very well-stocked and they go the hundred miles to get anything that you want so they will do special orders.
