He's always excited to go back, and so happy and calm when we pick him up that I can really tell he's comfortable and enjoying his time at Puppy Island. He comes back well-behaved and socialized, not freaked out from us being gone, which makes leaving for trips feel much easier! And, I think the value for the services they provide is excellent. I usually board Chico in standard boarding and really love getting a few photos of him daily -- he's always smiling from ear to ear in them and surrounded by cute doggie friends. Chico had a cherry eye flare up when he was boarded earlier this year, and they handled the situation beautifully -- they gave me options, took him to the emergency vet for a checkup, and isolated him in VIP boarding until we were sure he was okay! It was such a relief to know he was in good hands and I will forever be grateful to the staff for going the extra mile to ensure his safety and comfort throughout. I trust them completely and so appreciate that they actually know and love him, so it feels like he's at summer camp with his favorite people every time! I love Puppy Island (and so does my dog!)!

Unfortunately, my dog didn't allow the groomer to brush her teeth but hopefully it can be done on the next visit. I feel the need to share my dissatisfaction and poor treatment by this rescue. In the end one of…read morethe dogs I tried to adopt was harmed, in addition to me and my son because of how they mishandled everything. It was only 48 hours before getting this dog that the foster parent, not the rescue, informed me she had a prolapse rectum. The shelter didn't even know. Outside of being told she had a small cataract in her left eye, was told nothing else was wrong. In fact, the owner said she was "perfect.". This dog had dental disease, severe scarring in both ears and eyes to where she had limited vision and hearing. She was not potty trained at all. She was also severely underweight and could not handle a walk more than about four houses down my street. I agreed to take her with the understanding she would get the prolapse surgery after I got her, paid for by the shelter. The owner continued to disagree with every vet that saw her to talk about the surgery. No vet wanted to operate on her because she was malnourished and it was unclear why she was not able to gain any weight. All three vets said she should go on a hydrolyzed protein diet. The owner of the shelter refused stating the only food I could feed her was farmers dog. Finally after two months, the owner said I could put her on hydrolyzed protein food and she started gaining some weight. She had to get an ultrasound before the hospital would agree to do the surgery at that point. It took six weeks for the shelter to connect with the hospital that did the ultrasound to talk about next steps for the surgery. By that point I had had this dog for over three months and was dealing with all of the stuff I mentioned above. Because of all that at some point, I decided I could not do it anymore. It was a very painful decision to make and the shelter, made it extremely hard for me in the end. They were difficult to communicate with. I agreed to just fly her back to LA myself and the plan then changed three different times. They said they would come get her on a certain day, then changed it to another day then I said I would just bring her like I had planned then they asked me to keep her until they could find a place for her even though they said they had a place for her to go. Long story short it was extremely hard. I will put pictures of the texts from the owner in the end, who told me to literally stop complaining. The amount of time and money I spent out of my own pocket on this dog was significant. I thought at least an apology would be given, when I asked for one, the worker at the shelter stayed silent on the phone. And then the owner told me to stop complaining as you can see in the text photos. I share this to warn other people about what you might go through if you try to adopt a dog through them.

As with all training, the most valuable tools obtained is the knowledge given, and using such, the amount of time spent training outside of the class will garner the most favorable results. Committing hours each week with the week's lesson, my boy learned and Kyle's good instruction resulted in acquiring the skills I sought. My puller learned to heel, which was the main goal I wanted to achieve. He also learned to stay on command, but his recall (come to me) still needs some work. We are still working on a stellar outcome, he's stubborn. The pros of the class; good training, the training is demonstrated using Kyle's dogs, nice email communications which recaps the week's previous training sessions. I felt the class cost was appropriate, at the date of this review, approximately $60 per class. The cons of the class; we met at Brand Park in Glendale, and several of the classes were interrupted by park goers which allowed their unleashed dogs to interact during sessions. Not necessarily Trained Goldens fault, and understanding we are in a public park, my suggestion would be to rope off the class area and place signs instructing others to respect the class time and restrain their unleashed dogs. A total of 10 signed up and by mid-session we were down to half that number and only one (myself) attended the final class. We had one incident during week two which might have marred the group. One of the dogs in the class bit the instructor and his response was less than restrained. Kyle was apologetic, and understandably upset by the bite, but the dynamic of the group seemed to dwindle in the weeks thereafter. Aside from this one incident, I found Kyle to offer great training suggestions, found him to be a patient and caring instructor and would recommend this business to any looking to train their dogs.

Took my Maltese Mr. Jake here and i just love this place. First of all when you walk in its luxurious all the way and smells amazing. They did a full grooming and he came out super happy. Just a quick note on grooming -- They only lost one star because the grooming wasn't entirely up to our standards. After our grooming visit, our dog experienced some temporary skin irritation on her back - possibly from dryer burns, hard brushing or just an allergic reaction to a shampoo used. Also, her hindquarters were clipped awkwardly, although that one may have been my fault for being unspecific in my request. Our dog and cat seemed like they were well taken care of on all the occasions we left them in this company's care. It was clear that our dog loved them. Our cat is sort of a snob, so who knows what he's thinking, but he did seem as content as usual when we got home. Tammy was our main sitter/walker there and our normally shy dog adored her & her little dog. Sometimes we'd run into them in the neighborhood and Star would get super excited to say hello. That says a lot! Also, the company was great about communication, before-during-after, provided easy billing, set up easy key exchanges and they were always pleasant & gracious. It was also nice that our home was always clean when we got home and everything was in its proper place. We recommend their petsitting & dogwalking services to others in Glendale.
