Now, however,…read morethey have repeatedly reported they're under-staffed, and today upon picking up my dog from daycare, not only had she been allowed to chew up her harness, leash, and towel (which has never been an issue when staying for a full day of daycare previously), but also somehow she was able to chew through the plastic ziplock bag that contained her food (which was also still full of food, which again has never been an issue on previous days). Although I was told that dogs are not allowed near the bins where the bags of food are kept, I was told by a worker while picking up my dog that "it looks like she got to her food bag," which is made of zip-lock plastic, and now I'm concerned with how much she ingested. Overall, the Lucky Pets staff is aware they're understaffed, but continue to accept dogs into their care that they do not have the staff to properly/safely watch and take care of. Extremely disappointed after how great it was a few weeks ago.

I've only boarded him twice so far - but he plays in Tiny Town or hangs out with staff up front! I do like how you can bring items for boarding, other places we have brought Jett won't let us bring anything but food - Jett has a security ducky that he sleeps with every night since he was a baby - so I was happy to know I can bring that for him and a blanket One thing to note - there are no cameras to watch the dogs, I love this feature at other places, but I often think I spend too much time worrying about finding him on camera than enjoying my time away - while this would be a great feature - I trust the staff and Jett hasn't ever shown odd behavior after being here, so I do believe he is being well taken care of and treated well Thank you for always taking great care of my tiny but very loud pup!

After that private session, we were really looking forward to the Mastering the Leash Walk workshop. Based on the training philosophy listed on the company's website, Lynn's recommendation, online reviews, and the class description we thought this workshop would help us improve walks with our rescue pup. Unfortunately the experience didn't meet those expectations. One [very large and awesome mastiff] puppy took over the instructor's attention and barked for much of the workshop, which made it hard to engage in the class. The dog was sweet, but obviously had very little training (nor had it been neutered, which was surprising for a group class) and disrupted instruction and learning. Although we respect Cesar Milan's training methods, it was disappointing that Max seemed to recite book content without fully showing how to implement those methods in the leash walk. The class description said be ready to enjoy walking with your dog off-leash, by your side. We didn't expect drastic change, but at least wanted actionable information on improving the walk. We were hoping for more instructor attention for each attendee, not just for the loudest or one that needed the most all around training help. It would have been helpful to see the instructor work with the variety of dogs in attendance and reiterate each of the general training ideas he shared. I think the cost warranted a handout or a web page (just one page with an outline or a couple short instructional videos) dedicated to the workshop content. Ultimately, the grandiose description was misleading and was not fulfilled in the workshop. I think at best this workshop was an Intro to Leash Walking Philosophy, which left us feeling like money and time wasted.

Robert truly is the Dog Whisperer! We rescued an abused dog that started to show aggressive fear…read moretowards strangers soon after she turned 1 1/2 yo. We took her to obedience class and hired 4 other well known dog behaviorists with no results. In fact, our dog's aggression towards people began to escalate. She bit several of our friends, family and a neighbor. She broke through our front glass window twice when the mailman walked by. We were told by 2 seperate veterinarians (after an extesive work-up that showed no physical reason for her aggression) to euthanize her. We were hopeless, desperate and concerned for our dog's future as well as for the safety of our friends and family. I am so pleased that a friend referred Robert. I couldn't believe that our dog (labeled "devil dog" by others) was on her back and asking for belly rubs from Robert shortly after he arrived! All the other trainers we hired NEVER were able to pet her or come within a few feet or her...even after 3 months of private training. I am so amazed at the change we have seen and continue to see in our dog. She now welcomes our friends into the house and sits calmly waiting to give sloppy kisses! She looks to us for direction and responds to our commands. She is so peaceful yet happy around company now. We continue to work with Robert as his training techniques work wonders! Robert , we can't thank you enough for saving our dog....and our sanity!

My dog recently had the misfortune of being accused of biting another dog (wrongfully accused, I…read moremight add, and has since been vindicated, but that's a story for another day). As we live in Minneapolis, that meant dealing with Minneapolis Animal Care & Control, who ended up declaring my dog "potentially dangerous." Appealing that decision was expensive and insanely stressful, and involved having a "behavior analysis" done by one of their city-approved trainers. Carol Propotnik, of Best Friends Animal Behavior Consulting, is on that list. Carol doesn't currently have much of an online presence--her website is very outdated, and you won't find her on social media. She seems to be a bit of an "insider secret," getting most of her business via word of mouth and referrals, but I offered to write her a Yelp review because I had such a great experience working with her. There are plenty of "dog trainers" out there--some extremely good, some not so good--but there's no regulation on what that title actually means. Carol is an actual animal behaviorist with an advanced degree and years of experience. She spent two full hours getting to know my dog and me, observing and interacting with him in our home. It's clear that she loves, respects, and understands animals, and she had some really interesting insights into my dog's behavior. Moreover, Carol was sympathetic to our situation, which was refreshing after dealing with some rude, rigid individuals at Animal Control (looking at you, Officer Young...). She's personable and reasonable, seems very invested in her clients' well-being, and went out of her way to accommodate the extremely limited window of time I had to work with. I'd recommend her to anyone in my situation, but also to anyone dealing with pet behavior issues they want to understand and correct. If my dog had thumbs, they'd be up!

We called Carol once again when our foster dog started becoming aggressive towards one of our residence dogs. After an evaluation, it was determined that Lucy, our foster, needed to be rehomed with a new foster because our Beagle was so old and unhealthy that she was not patient with a much younger dog. We found Lucy a wonderful adoptive family where Lucy is thriving and our Beagle, Millie is doing better as well because she is now not bothered by such a younger dog. We highly recommend Carol. She is a wonderful Animal Behaviorist and has now become a kind, caring friend as well. Please do not hesitate to call Carol if you need a behaviorist -we are glad we called!
