I'd like to talk about my unfortunate experience volunteering at the The Grooming Palace, I was a…read morevolunteer for about 4 months until this week. Fibian Lopez/Truman paid me $4.80 an hour, I worked 25 hours per week. We dident mind the low pay sense I love dogs, and we have a little bit of other income. I came in at 8am and left at 1pm, once I left for the day, 'they' (Fibian Lopez and her son Steven) left shortly after around 2pm unless there was a groom. After 2 on most days the dogs dident get water, and never on sundays, she or Steven doesent work and I dident work Sundays. She feeds in the mornings and only in the mornings. Water bowls are small and once waters gone at 2pm then it's gone, no more and everyone leaves til the next morning. They smoke ciggerates inside while there grooming, then spray perfume on them. The kennels are rusty, unfortunately low funding. Dogs keep getting hurt rubbing there eye against it or there back. One has an infection right now from the cage in his eye (her name is trixy). Steven her son, loves animals but has an anger problem and, like when he's trying to move the dog a little bit so he can get his leg or other side while grooming, if the dogs not listening or being bad he slaps the dogs in the face, I watched him do it 1 time, and I heard him do it another time, the dog made a loud cry, I'm shur the dog stood still after that. Her husband rob is an amazing man he tries to help as much as he can. The smell is obviously tramendous for anyone who's been there, there's not a lot of help so the kennels don't always get cleaned behind and build up starts. For the outside area, they finally have a tarp as you all can see. They dident always but I'm glad they finally got one. I can't hold my tongue any longer,, I really wanted the best for this place.

Definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND…read more My sister Karina left a review as well but my dad left his beautiful dog who he loved so much to get taken care of for ONLY 2 hours ! Shortly after that day his dog started showing signs of sickness . Keep in mind she's fully vaccinated . And she was perfectly fine before getting dropped off . Fast foward only a week later she sadly passed away and we are heart broken!

He had been mauled. required surgery and stuchers to wo different areas. punctures and scratches all over his body. They didn't enven bother to contact me when it happened. Also be well aware of their kennal polocy . Dogs are let up to 14 hrs in thier kennal without anyone on site. I will never take my dog there again. I've taken our Pomeranian to Sandy Oaks three times now for grooming. After giving a couple of…read moregroomers a try in the CC area I branched out in my search on here and found Sandy Oaks. They are definitely worth the drive to Rockport. The same groomer has taken care of Fred all three times and has done a fantastic job each time. The business is located outside of Rockport by a few miles. The owners have created a beautiful establishment! You pull in and see that they have gone all out to create a comfortable place for the dogs they care for. It's really so nice! I haven't toured the facility but, from what I've seen, there are large, fenced play areas outside. It is in a wooded area so the entire outdoor area is shaded. As I've only dropped Fred off for grooming, I've only gone so far as the greeting/waiting area. Plenty of attention to detail was put into the decor here. Artwork, books about dogs, even the pillows have dogs on them. It's nice and clean, and each employee that I've encountered has been so friendly and helpful. I can only speak for the prices for Fred's grooming. We do ask for a specific cut for him. For $40 he is bathed, cut, ears are cleaned, and, if asked, his anal glands will be expressed. $40! In addition to the wonderful grooming job, I have felt completely comfortable leaving Fred with them. This says a lot considering my intense (and probably irrational) paranoia concerning Fred. You can tell that they CARE. I am so happy to have found this business and have already suggested them to someone else who has had a hard time finding anyone trustworthy (or worthy of the ridiculous prices they charge) in the CC area.
