The only reason this is a 1-star review is because 0 stars was not an option. I had my standard poodle groomed today at Petsmart on William D Fitch in College Station and she looks HORRIBLE. When I dropped her off, I showed two employees what I wanted and when I picked her up, she had been COMPLETELY SHAVED from head to toe including fully shaving her tail. My other dog doesn't even recognize her. She looks like a greyhound. Completely ripped off from paying $100 for something that looks like a 5-year-old playing with dog clippers did. Had my dog groomed Saturday (3/29) by Kay T and couldn't be more frustrated and disappointed. The poor care she gave my dog is unacceptable. My dog came back with a huge cut on one of her toenails that was bleeding to the point where it's almost completely falling off. She was in pain for the rest of the day and still hasn't recovered. It's still bleeds everyday and had to take her to the vet where I incurred over $300 in vet bills to treat the broken nail because of how severe the break was. Sad to say that Kay T ruined my experience with Petsmart grooming and will no longer return. I hope they treat the dogs with better care and receive better training in nail grinding/trimming. Our girl came home with so much razor burn on her underbelly it created more issues than we could have imagined from a simple grooming job. Never like to send a bad review, however after the episode at the groomer where they choked my dog with their leash they require, I yanked the leash from the girls hand and picked my dog up and put my dog in her arms and said, "you will not choke my dog, you will carry her." The girl was shocked that I stood up against her cruelty she acted right in front of me. I can only imagine what they will do behind closed doors! I stated to another girl that I will kick anyone ass for harming my dog. They ended up rejecting my dog for any future appointments lol! They said the girl now knows how to put the leash around their chest from now on. At least I taught the girl a very valuable lesson! They obviously do not train their people and expect the customers to do it! Then the customer is in the wrong for not allowing them to hurt their dog! Very Disappointed!!!! Purchased a Top Fin canister filter for my aquarium about a year ago. It stopped working. I went to this store for options and the only option I got was "Sorry". Top Fin is a product made by Petsmart, there is no mfg to go to. This filter cost $199.99 and after 1 year, "Sorry". Other brands carry a 3 yr. warranty. We bought a tank online here one Christmas... buy online, pick up in store. My husband went to pick up and they gave him the floor model, which was scraped on a side of the wooden base and scratched all over on the glass of the tank, he was told that was the only one they had. He couldn't even get anyone to help him carry the 36 gallon tank and stand out to his truck. SMH. Gets it home and we get a good look at it, absolutely not, not brand new prices for scraped up, used merchandise. I tell him just do a whole return. I'll purchase a NEW tank elsewhere. He takes it back and surprise, surprise, they actually did have a new tank in the back that they could give him. A huge hassle, a lie and extremely poor customer service. Only reason I give more than 1 star is that their groomers are cool. I hate that I have to wait so long to make an appt. They also will charge you whatever, so definitely make sure they're not adding services you don't want. I have been taking my Cocker Spaniel to them about 5 times. I'm talking about the location on University. The last time i was there, they called me about 6 hours later telling they couldn't finish him due to them being so business. Yes, I had an appointment. The poor dog had been on the table over 4 hours. They had me bring him back on Sunday morning. When i got there no one knew anything about the return. I became irritated and few calls were made and someone walked in to finish the grooming for my dog. The dog did not want to be there. I picked him up with an aggressive behavior fee on my bill, are you kidding me. This dog has been going to groomers for 5 years with no complaints. He was last groomed while in Hanceville, Alabama at a cattle sell, no problems with him. So i called the location off Arrington in College Station which he has been to twice, no problems. They refused me service due to his aggressive behavior. I was not happy, if he was aggressive it was due to him being left on a table for over 4 hours while they were doing other things. I told the lady i would be posting a negative blog and her comment was "are you threatening me" I said no I don't even know you, just stating a fact and here it is. I agree with many of the other posts that the staff seems to be really nice, but lacking in getting the job done. I would not take my dog back if he was dead and need a hair cut for his own funeral. Seems to always be an issue with them when you get there and pick up your dog. I now have a local groomer on wheels who comes to my place for less money and no hassles. Updating my review since I've been a regular customer for a few years now. Their grooming salon has gotten better- Christina did an amazing job grooming my Miniature Schnauzer! She took what I asked her and made it better. Even my dog was loving all the attention she got with her new cut. The only reason I am taking a star off is because of PetSmart price match policy update. They no longer take price matches with Chewy, and other online pet stores. (They do for some) Its disappointing and pet supplies is already expensive especially in a college town. Other than that, the store is fantastic. read more

So to start this review off: I go to PetSmart almost every day, if not then every other day, so it is safe to say I spend a lot of money at their stores. I have multiple fish tanks and other pets which I take excellent care of and make sure they have optimal conditions in the cages/aquariums. Today I went into this PetSmart as I have been doing for over a year since I moved up here and got some stuff for one of my new cichlid fish tanks: fluval pump, media, heater. I always price match my items to get the best deal since I spend so much money each week on my animals. As I was at the cash register checking out, some grouchy manager (I would like to call her a dirty name but am a better person than that) who was obviously having a bad day walks up. She goes to tell me with an attitude (which was highly unprofessional for a manager) that I can't price match my items because the image on the PetSmart.com website didn't match the box (just to let whoever is reading this know the box was in fact the same brand, company and product.) The manager told me that they don't price match items when the picture online is the old boxing, which is complete BS. It is quite funny she said this because I have been price matching items that are the same product but have the older images on PetSmarts website for a year, so maybe PetSmart should update the pictures to the new packaging, or maybe this manager needs to be fired for lying. If you don't know Fluval use to be called Aquaclear. Now they are called Fluval Aquaclear and have new packaging which is still very similar to the old. When I price match I enter the code which is on the shelf below the listed tag price into the PetSmart.com search tab and the image is sometimes the older style of bottle, box, bag, etc. Back to my point, when you type that code into the search bar the product will pop up with a priced matched price with a picture of the item you are searching. Regardless of if the company switched to new designed packing the item in the, box, bag, or bottle is in fact still the same product. I will never be shopping at this PetSmart again due to this manager being so rude and acting like I'm an idiot for price matching. She obviously does not need to be working in retail because that store just lost a loyal customer who had been going there almost every day and spends a good amount of money. In the end I did get my items price matched, after I told the manager I've been price matching for a while and have never had this problem. She still insisted that they do not price match items if the picture on the PetSmart website is the older packaging, which once again is complete bs and a lie. I have one last thing to say, whoever that manager was needs a serious attitude check or was having a bad day and needs to leave her personal issues outside of the workplace. read more

Took my Havenese dog in for grooming and paid extra ten for Matting. I specifically asked for him not to be shaved and teddy bear feet with your cut. Upon picking him up nothing I asked for was done and he was shaved beyond recognition. I have called for two days trying to speak to the manager and got no call back. First time coming in was a nightmare as when I got there, the groomers ask you questions about what cut you want then at the very last minute, try to tell you that they can't take your dog because of blah blah blah. So over priced!!!! I have quit buying anything for my dogs here, including chew toys, treats, collars, food, and grooming. Every time I purchase something here I later find the same product at Wal-Mart or on Amazon for at least half price or less. Why do they think they can mark up their goods so high? No more overpriced crap for dogs. The only thing they have good is a large selection. A slicker brush at Petsmart was $14.49 and I bought one identical at Walmart for $7.47, same thing for the treats, and leashes... It's endless how much I've saved buying beds, kennels, and other accessories at wal-mart. Their selection is also improving, so I always check there first. read more

GO ANYWHERE ELSE My boyfriend and I have been using petsmart for grooming, food, toys, accessories...but we have realized that they have a horrible return policy PLUS poorly trained staff. The experience that got me to write this review was especially frustrating (compared to other bad experiences) because the person we spoke with, a manager, was the second person we had asked about returning the food bins (3 of them which recently stopped being air and water tight). In the first visit we bought some dog food and tried to use our pet perks...but the system couldn't find our account...again...this has happened 2x now. So we had to register again. We checked out and I came back in to ask the girl working at the register if we could return the bins. She said "sure! If you don't have the receipt we can give you store credit." So we loaded up the pup, cleaned out the bins, and made our way back (20 miles) to petsmart... But we were greeted by an older lady who said "what? Do you have a return?" While she was checking other people out at register 1. So we went and put the large bins on the 2nd register belt. Then the manager asked us what we needed and we told her the situation. She told us that policy dictated that she couldn't return without a receipt even if we took store credit. And that on top of that we couldn't return after 50 days. But if we knew the exact date and approximate time that we purchased them she could look it up. We told her that we had no idea what day we bought them. We told her what the other girl had said to us and she said "well she isn't a manager." I have worked retail, at the very least you should know your return policy...that's a basic practice. We told her that wasn't a good enough reason for us to be at a loss for the product defect. And she said she would see what she could do and went to talk to another manager. We waited 15 minutes for her to come back, in that time we had to wrangle our dog who was trying to wait for us to take him to the park (his favorite place)...he was having to sit by the door and wait for the manager to come back which was taking entirely too long. He had an accident and while I was cleaning it up the manager came back and said that without a receipt she couldn't do anything for us. I told her that it all comes back to training your employees. If we hadn't been given the run around we wouldn't have been there asking for a return to begin with. No other store in this chain has ever given us issues with returning without a receipt. No other store or type of store has had a more confusing return policy than theirs... What we learned was: -no returns (even for store credit) on grooming tools still in the package -no returns (on obviously defective products) even when the customer has gone out of their way because of what an employee told them We are done buying from petsmart. read more

This spot is under poor management and it has nothing to do with COVID-19. A lot of the good people who worked there left before COVID-19. I cannot get my dog into a training class because they only have one teacher now. The manager herself is extremely unhelpful with a surly attitude. She spends most of her time just straightening things on shelves when I see her. I recently asked her for a product as it wasn't on the shelf. She didn't have it but said it would be in stock in three days. My dog needed it right away as part of his nutritional plan. I asked her if she knew of any other store that may carry it and she then acted like I was expecting too much of her. She then rebuffed me instructing me to call other stores and find out. She then said, "I tried." Then, obviously wanting to be free of any role of customer service, just turned around and walked off. She didn't go to another customer. She just went back to straightening things on shelves (looking busy). Good customer service should have included her offering to call another store and find out if they had what I needed in stock. She clearly didn't care. I went straight to a competitor of PetSmart and found just what I wanted right on the shelf. They stated that they were not having any trouble keeping this product in stock. The overall attitude at this PetSmart has gotten pretty negative and they have adopted the "it's all about them" attitude, not about the customer. Their competitor isn't even half the size of this PetSmart, but they keep such a better stock, I can find everything I need in one stop, and their attitudes are far more helpful and pleasant. Just a little worried. My daughter recently got a pomeranian. We came to petsmart to inquire about puppy grooming. We walk into the salon and there is a pomeranian being groomed and they had shaved that poor dog so short. Note: you are not suppose to shave a pom that short, it could cause health issues and causes their fur to go into shock. Never had any issues with my dogs normal groomer at petco but she was booked and there was an opening here decided to give it a try and nope never ever again. Didn't trim my dogs tail like I asked or his ears, he had little knicks all over his whole body that scabbed up so he was super uncomfortable I'm not even sure how this happens it never has before, as soon as he got in the car he started scratching his ears and shaking his head and I thought maybe some hair got in there. Nope it continued it seemed to be driving him crazy so i looked in his ear and it was all wet they got water all in his ears. Within a few days his ears started to smell terrible and were very inflamed and bright red he got an ear infection, which he has never had this issue before not happy about that vet bill and it still hasn't gone away with the antibiotics. Terrible terrible experience. Most places I have at least one good thing to say about it but nope not one. 0 stars if I could. I hate to sound like a Karen but dude the prices weren't cheap and to have my dog put through all of that never ever again. read more

I will never be going back to PetSmart grooming. I used pay $50 maximum to have my 8 pound dog groomed here (including nail trim). The groomers lied to me and said they had a 15% off special for my breed of dog, and then they charged me for a few extra things that I did not even ask them to do, and they did not call to ask me first. It came out to $85! My fiancé's German Shepard/Chow mix is only $30 to get groomed. They did not explain to me why they added all of these extra things to the grooming, and I had to pay in order to leave with my dog. read more

I definitely enjoy the atmosphere here better than at Petco. I've always had friendly service the times I've been. I like the amount of choices they have for my cat except for the cat collars. But I just bought him the smallest dog collar (why do dogs get better quality, prettier collars?). I enjoy watching the small animals and I do like that they have cat and occasionally dog adoptions here. GET THE PET PERKS CARD! It's free and saves a lot of money. Plus if you are going to spend money for higher quality food you might as well save in other areas of having an animal. Don't go here to get your dogs groomed! I took my 2 dogs here and when I went to pick them up, one of my dogs had a huge bald spot on her neck. When I asked them about it, they said "Oh, she had that when she got checked in" which she absolutely did NOT. Then they said "Oh, it must be her collar rubbing on her neck" when it's not even where her collar sits (and if that were the case, don't you think it would be all around and not in the exact shape of the razor head?!). Not to mention it has razor burn on the spot!! Then when I talked to the supervisor she told me she has to go by what the groomer says and the groomer said she had it already when she came in- absolutely ridiculous, I would've definitely noticed if my dog had suddenly developed a huge bald spot on her!! I understand that things happen- dogs move, you picked up the wrong razor, whatever- just own up to it and don't LIE about it and try to convince me that I brought my dog in to you with a huge razor burned bald spot on her! Had they just said "sorry, we made a mistake" then I wouldn't even be mad. After two hours I went to get my dog and they had not even started on my dog. I was told they had to take the walk-in dogs first. Really!!! What is the point of an appointment then? Two more hours passed and I still had not heard from them. I went to pick up my dog and was told they had just finished him. I had a lot to do, but got little to none done because I was waiting on them. No one would make eye contact with me and I was told sorry, but walk-ins have to be done first. Don't take your dogs here for grooming if you have more than one dog. Multiple times now, I've booked appointments for my two dogs, and nearly every time they forget about one. Like, I'll book for two dogs and then when I show up, they say it's only for one dog. I wouldn't give a negative review if this was just a one time mistake since things happen, but this has happened multiple times now. Make sure to call them before the appointment to make sure they understand what they booked. Seems to be a communication issue here between the staff. I am INCREDIBLY upset with the service here. We have taken our dog in twice to be groomed, and we have been unhappy both times. The first, they cut the hair exactly opposite from what we asked. Nonetheless, hair will grow back. The second time was the problem... He is a maltipoo so he has long tangly hair. We brush and bathe our dog frequently, at least a couple of times a week. We asked to have a trim, just enough that he could see better. We come back to a dog with shaven legs, and patches, and then random spots with 3 inch hair, along with a Mohawk. We nicely asked that they make it the same length, even if that meant he would have to be shaved all over (which we didn't want). When handed back our dog, he was bleeding from a cut on his ear. They said, "oh put some Neosporin on it." Excuse me? No apology, no explanation. We asked to speak to a manager, of course. We assured her we didn't want anything free, but to make sure that this would never happen to anyone else's dog. She said it would make her feel better to pay for it. We again assured we just wanted to see that our dog would be fine by putting Neosporin on his ear. Up until this point she was fantastic. She left to talk to the groomers, came back and said, "Oh, you signed a release form to get tangles out, it's your responsibility. Here is your bill." At this point I just wanted out of that store. I paid $50+ for an injured dog and to hear that it's my fault a lazy groomer cut him. No thank you! We will never spend another penny in petsmart! read more

Although I feed my dog a raw (species-appropriate) diet, I am happy to see that Petsmart is finally carrying higher quality dry food like Wellness and Blue Buffalo! If you feed kibble, please consider switching to one of these or the Taste of the Wild from Tractor Supply. I would give Petsmart zero stars if possible. On Saturday, May 6th, Jelly and I went to Banfield at Petsmart for a routine check-up and an update on her Bordatella vaccine. While waiting in the Petsmart, Jelly and a large female mastiff began sniffing each other. In what seemed like a few seconds, Jelly was hanging from the other dog's mouth before being dropped. She had been bit and lifted up by her rear end. She was bleeding all over the floor at Petsmart and the vet tech rushed us into a room. My main concern was making sure Jelly was okay. She was clearly injured and traumatized. After two rounds of medication, the vet was able to clean the wounds and stitch her up, 6 stitches total. I was told that the owner of the mastiff had left Petsmart and that they would contact him to see if he would cover Jelly's bills. I was later told that after contacting him, he told them that his dog had a scratch on her lip and he declined to help cover her bills. The manager of Petsmart, April, also declined to help or offer any apology for the incident. On Sunday, she refused to eat and would only drink when heavily coaxed. She was unable to stand on her own and had trouble walking. On Monday morning, I noticed an increase in bruising and that she was in more pain. She was having more trouble walking, still would not eat, and was very sensitive to touch. I took her back to her vet. After leaving her there, they called to say they are concerned that she was not doing as well as they'd expected and the increase in pain and bruising as well as a few other things they'd noticed indicated that she may have internal bleeding and/or a fracture on her left leg. The blood work on Monday showed that she did not have internal bleeding, but that she was dehydrated and had an infection. The x-rays showed no significant fracture but they were unable to get clear x-rays because she was in too much pain to remain still. The swelling and bruising has been increasing at an alarming rate. The vet was concerned about tissue necrosis. She was unable to walk now because of the pain and swelling. The infection progressed clearly throughout the day and both wounds opened back up and started draining. The vet wanted her to come back Tuesday because of the progression of the infection and increase in swelling and bruising. The owner of the other dog and the Petsmart manager, April, refused to help and both were insensitive to the incident and Jelly's condition. When I asked the manager about security footage when I went to pick up Jelly Monday, I was told there are no active cameras so there is no footage to get. This shocked me. Not only did they allow the owner and the other dog to leave Petsmart immediately following the attack, they have no cameras in the center aisle of the store, were rude, and brushed off my request. On Monday night, she died. She was in a great deal of pain at the end, so I am grateful that this was quick. I am heartbroken and still in denial about everything. This was so sudden and was a complete accident. I would give anything to get her back. She did not deserve this. I called the corporate offices of Petsmart on Tuesday and have not heard back. I am very concerned that there is no policy in place, no security cameras, and no one held accountable. I do not want any other person to ever go through this. As the nation's largest pet store chain, I expect more. I expect managers that have compassion, not that turn away from me as I am crying over my dead dog. I am disappointed in their reaction. I am disappointed in the system that is in place and would like to see Petsmart respond to this to hopefully prevent things like this from happening to others or at the very least show an ounce of human decency. I cannot imagine this happening to a child or something else happening and there is no security footage. I am also disappointed by the response of the other dog owner. I was never looking for funds from him or Petsmart, but I was hoping for compassion. I never received an apology from the dog owner either. This happened on Petsmart property and I have been treated like this is not their problem. Since her death, I have been approached by reporters and lawyers about the incident. Someone needs to be held accountable and the experience at Petsmart and the treatment since then is inexcusable. She did not deserve this and I do not deserve to be treated like she didn't matter and what happened was no one's problem but my own. DO NOT BUY ANY ANIMALS FROM PETSMART. GO TO PETCO. As a pet supply store PetSmart is ok, but the selling of sick/terminal pets and employees omitting contract details during signing will leave you with several dead PetSmart animals and no refund whatsoever. My PetSmart (horror) Story: Let me start by saying me and my Fiancé live in a small town with only 1 PetCo and 1 PetSmart so we had to wait for a shipment of Robo hamsters to come in and we purchased them the day after they arrived. This was A little under 14 days ago and we bought 2 little Robo hamsters and the whole setup for each of them. We got two separate cages/habitrail/wheels/hamster balls/food - everything. around 120$ worth of merchandise in total and 35$ for the two hamsters but whatever my Fiancé really wanted them. Fast forward to this morning - we woke up to find both hamsters dead in their cages. We knew it was sickness that killed them because we'd both fed them out of our hands and watched them drink water so we knew they were eating and drinking. And their deaths took place in the same 8 hour span, even though they hadn't come in contact since we left PetSmart - where they're kept in cages with a dozen other hamsters in close proximity. But anyway I call up PetSmart and say "hey you sold me two sick hamsters and they both died" And the lady says bring them in, it's been less than 14 days just bring the contract, receipt and dead bodies as proof. So I put the poor guys bodies into ziplock bags (since my Fiancé lost it when I said they needed the bodies) and we drove to petsmart. When We got there We went up to the same lady I talked to on the phone and she said "wait here, for all animal refunds Im supposed to get a manager" so as soon as the manager looks at my receipt she says "you purchased these animals together, the guarantee doesn't apply" - completely straight faced. after explaining to the manager that I'd no one ever mentioned this, and We had just driven out here because the employee right next to her said we could return them she just said "sorry, you should have bought them separately" me and me Fiancé looked at each other like "can you believe this bull****?" Which prompted the manager to spout "I'm the manager here so... sorry!" And then start waving at the next customer in line. I honestly hope she's there tomorrow to watch me return my 120$ worth of hamster equipment and drive to PetCo right after. Were still getting new hamsters but I really don't want PetSmart having any more of my money at this point. So to summarize - I was sold 2 robo hamsters for 35$, which died a few days later due to sickness even though they were separated. I was told it was going to be okay if I load their dead bodies into bags, drive to PetSmart, and then get there only to find out I couldn't return them once I was standing in the store with two dead Robos. The Petsmart store in general is great, love their products and the staff at this particular store is very friendly and helpful. But I am NEVER taking my dog back there for their grooming service!! Not only did they not seem to know what their own services were (had a big sign right on the wall saying the FURminator plus package came with teeth brushing and nail grinding, but when we mentioned it to them two separate employees insisted it didn't come with that, until we pointed out the sign.) they also seemed to be very bad at communicating with each other. We had to tell three separate people that we wanted the hair around our dogs ears trimmed along with the brushing he was gonna get. 5 hours later (even though they said it would only take 1.5 hours) when we went to pick our dog up we were disappointed to find all they had done in that long time was bathe and brush him. His ears still weren't trimmed, he also hadn't had his teeth brushed or nails trimmed because "the package we got didn't offer that" So once again we had to point out their big red obvious sign, and after telling two more employees what we wanted with his ears they finally took him back and did that all. So after all that trouble I was pretty disappointed when they brought our dog back out and they had somehow managed to give him the same awful awful bowl cut that I had gotten back in high school. read more
