Horrible customer service in dog grooming. These people do not know how to cut a small dogs hair or any dog for that matter and do not want to listen to the customer whatsoever. They butchered my dog and their response to my wife was "well it could be worse" They were rude and acted as if they didn't care. This happend 2 times in a row when easy instructions were given. I will never go back and would highly recommend nobody takes their dog there for grooming. read more

These people shouldn't be in the business of grooming dogs. They are rude, dismissive and horrible to our dog. I've heard one of the groomers actually yell at another dog because he was drooling. My husband had to intervene and make sure she wouldn't do anything to harm the poor pup. I've been to other groomers around Des Moines and West Des Moines and these people are the worst. Go elsewhere please! Go to someone who is experienced at dog grooming and who has patience and loves animals! read more

I've got my dogs haircut here multiple times and they've done a fantastic job, but I recently came here the other day and have had the worst experience by far. My dog is a Poodle/chihuahua mix with very fluffy hair and they left her all choppy, tangled, and uneven. Her tail wasn't even trimmed and she still looked dirty all around. I received the luxury package (which is 100$) and she still smelt like she hadn't showered nor got her teeth brushed. I even gave her the benefit of the doubt and asked her to kindly fix it- which was worse. Not to mention she grabbed my dog by the ears to move her head around- Mind you she is 13 years old and 8lbs, this force was very unnecessary and inappropriate. read more

This place is a bit of a mess, no current or updated coupons or deals on display, everything was expire in Nov, its thr second week of December and still rocking deals that don't exist its just very dirty mess and not organized. read more

While the employees at PetSmart in Clive are stellar, I had a horrible experience with the dog groomer LeeAnn. She was very short and rude as well as dismissive. She started off telling me I need to have my dog checked for drooling. She didn't ask what the issue was or if I had insight. She then told me that If he continues to drool I will receive a phone call. I told her it has never been a problem before and I've taken him several times. Even to her in particular with no issues. She told me I was told this at the last visit and there was a note about it. I was never told this by anyone at anytime. She kept dismissing what I was saying. It escalated with rudeness and disrespect. I asked her name and she replied "LeeAnn would you like me to spell it?" I relied that I see it's on your shirt. As I left she asked again would you like me to spell it?" As though I were stupid. Mind you I have the utmost respect for all service workers and recognize that respect should be given on both sides. There is a lot more to the story however you get the gist. I ended up going to pet hotel for daycare services and they were very nice and concerned about my experience. I ended up involving the store manager who was kind and respectful. I am giving a 1 star for this groomer and a 5 star for the rest of the staff. read more

Had a 9a grooming appointment for my puppy at SE 14th in Des Moines, Iowa, location yesterday. Usually go to Clive but had a 815a around this location. Did pre check in, curbside pickup. Waited in car, called multiple times (no answer). Finally had to take my pup in, 5 people in line (at least 30 minute wait) I had a 930 appointment. Left with my pup. En route, I called Clive location who was able to get him in at 10am. He was checked in and good within 2 minutes. Later I called manager at SE 14th about the incompetence and he did nothing but blame everyone else, say "sorry" and tell me he would call me tomorrow. Horrible customer service and really bad look for a company such as Petsmart at SE 14th. Good review for Clive location, I was very happy with them and will only use this location going forward. read more

I went to take my dog for grooming since he's never gotten one before and was in much need of one . The groomer shaved his whole body and left his face completely untouched, I went home and had to finish the work myself ! She says he wasn't letting her cut around the face but when I tried he was completely ok ! She didn't seem to want to service me anymore and said there will be no charge. She seemed to be upset with me over my dogs behavior like I had something to do with it ! My dog is nervous, These groomers should have experiences with these type of dogs ! Today, I took my dog here to get his nail trimmed. Once I got there, I was told (by associates) the groomers was closed because they didn't have any more appointments (I checked online and they took walk ins). They closed 4 hours early! So I called hoping I could just leave a message to have someone call me back but no, a sales associate answered, said they were close and to call back tomorrow because she couldn't make the appointment (she didn't work in grooming). How can grooming take walk-ins when they close because they didn't have any more appointments? Total waste of my time. read more

Today we purchased 2 large reptile terrariums sets. We called ahead to make sure they had what we wanted which was on sale. When we got there the manager, Laurie, already had them on a cart waiting for us. When we got home we started to set them up. We noticed that there was a crack in second one that wasn't visible to us with the set materials inside of it, but was apparent with the tank empty. I called Laurie to find out what I needed to do. Again they had a tank waiting for us when we got there and gave us a no hassle exchange. On top of this, Laurie was obviously running a well organized shift of many employees working the chaos of Christmas shoppers. Thank you for making our experience such a great one! read more

Dropped my dog at the grooming salon for a 4pm appointment only to be told the dog needs to be picked up by 7pm, even though the store closes at 9. I told them that I couldn't make it back until 8 (since other Petsmart locations usually say plan for 3-4 hours), & they asked if I would like to reschedule, which I said I couldn't since I had an hour drive & would have no place for the dog other than in my car (bad idea). No Plan B offered up by the salon since they are a groomer short (not sure how it correlates to much, but whatever). I ended up racing back before 7 since I wasn't actually left with any other choice, only to discover that since my dog was the last appointment of the day, the groomers were waiting on me so they could leave for the day. All I can say is that I will stick to the Clive location from now on (day camp & grooming salon are both wonderful!!). The Ankeny salon isn't too bad either from the one time I visited. read more
