Bought beta fish and had 2.5 gal tanks that were being sold for $12 the lady at the register refused the sale because I needed a 3 gal tank. No I'm not joking half a gallon of water difference held up the line and had me go back to find another tank. I went and the cost difference was insane. The tanks I ended up having to buy were over $50 a tank. Every single option was the same price. Idk why they sell a tank size they won't allow you to take home for a single fish esp when the fish in question is held in a small cup of water for goodness knows how long. read more

The first major red flag when I brought my dog to be groomed was when the groomer said to me, "Oh, I have not taken my break.Pretty basic request shave my pup.Since my dog is big and overweight he could not stand for long from what I was told but I was told after I came to get him to see he pretty much was given a 112 dollar bath.If I had been called when this started I would have told them immediately I would come get him instead they just did what they wanted and didn't seem very concerned about my reaction to it. My fur baby has been groomed at the Rensselaer(N. Greenbush), Latham and Albany Petsmart locations and NEVER had an issue with grooming. I booked Glenmont location and my poor little puppy was traumatized. When I left and proceeded to my car and placed her in her car seat, she stared at me to say, "mommy how could you let that happen". She was so sad and stressed out. I will NEVER take my little baby to the Glenmont location. She was in so much pain. Please for future reference, if you are having an issue with a dog's fur, stop what your doing immediately!!!! You don't continue to cut and have the dog hurting and they're forced to defend themselves!!! read more

My husband, niece and myself went to buy fish at the Glenmont, NY store #1581 on Thurday, March 14th at around 6pm. We frequent this store quite often to buy fish, birds. etc. This evening my husband wanted to purchase some more fish for his tank. He was approached by a female employee who right away asked him what size his tank was after he told her the 2 kind of fish she wanted. She told my husband that the choice of fish that he wanted wouldn't be a good fit for his tank, that the 2 kinds of fish wouldn't get along together. My husband politely asked her to please give him the fish that he requested, but she ignored him and started helping other customers. She called her male boss on radio, he came over and accused stated that female told him that my husband was making her feel uncomfortable. I was there and all I saw was that she wasn't helping my husband, but started helping others. The boss in turn told my husband that they wouldn't sell him the fish because he only had a 30 gallon tank. We have never experienced anything like this ever before. I told my husband to let's leave store because it wasn't worth our arguing about We left and went to another Pet Smart and made our purchase with no problem I felt that all we went through was uncalled for. They even made my niece cry and she said we can't get our fish; "Where's our Civil Rights." I feel that those 2 employees should be fired because they had problems with them at another store. This review is based on their live fish. Or maybe I should say, "dead fish". I went there looking to get a few snails and maybe some fish. They had what I was looking for, but as I looked around I saw tank after tank with dead fish. In some cases the filter intakes were packed with dead and dying fish. OTher tanks had rotting fish on the bottom. This tells me two things: 1) there is something wrong with their fish/water and they die; and 2) they don't care about 1 and don't bother to clean up the mess and fix the problems. There are other much better family owned local fish stores in the area. I left and went there and...spent less. read more

A couple of the groomers in the Glenmont store are straight up racists & the "manager" or lead groomer is the ring leader. She booked my older dog 3 times in a row & each time she found a reason to cease grooming my dog even though she had medical clearance from the vet. The only thing wrong with her is that she's older & has a couple of skin tags in which the so called "lead groomer/manager" knew about from the start. Niw mind you the store manager said that this salon manager specializes in handling older dogs. She went out of her way to inconvenient me & today she said that Petsmart cannot groom my dog. I have been taking her to the Latham store since she was a pup & up until the end of 6/24 when I moved to Albany. She found a way to not have me come back again but this point I don't trust a racist with my dog. Very aggrevated and annoyed with PetSmart in Glenmont Ny. I have been trying to get live crickets for my lizard for over a week. I came in every single day with new promises of shipments coming the next day. Finally today was the last straw. I came in after 6 days of being told they'd be there tomorrow to come in to an associate filling a bag of crickets for another customer. I eagerly waited for food for my beloved scaly friend only to be told that was all she had and I would have to wait for the shipment coming in tomorrow. Well that's it that was the last straw I will never shop there again and will gladly drive the 40+ minutes to Petco or any other pet store that isn't PetSmart. read more

Previous experiences here have been great, for the year we have lived in the area. I got a call April 19n that our upcoming appointment would be cancelled because staff had quit. I made an appointment for May 19 for an Airedale grooming -- I was specific because the cut is unique -- and was assured that if I waited for that appointment we'd have a professional grooming. When we arrived today (May 19) a very dismissive groomer said the dog was "matted" and could not even be bathed (an option I suggested so at least she'd be clean) but could only be shaved. She said my dog "doesn't like to be brushed" and could not be bathed unless she was brushed. Of course I will now find another groomer; after the extra month's growth it will be challenging to give a good cut. Honesty at the outset, in April, and a less-haughty attitude today may have kept a customer. read more

Again, the walk-ins got priority over my dog who had a scheduled appointment - confirmed by the groomers and the store manager. However, if I paid them $11 more, I could get express service. REALLY?? DIS PLACE IS GREAT! when I went in todays a lady laid down on da floors with me and GAVE ME TREATS! And every time I saw her in da place she gave me MORE TREATS. Dis place is like a TREAT MACHINE FULL OF TOYS. It is what heaven is like prolly and usually when I get to go dere I pee on something so everybody knows dat DLR wuz heres and got treats so ha ha. Dey have toys and foods (which I love) and leashes and other tings and also snakes which are like long toys but alive. I heard you can get your hairs cut and you can get treats for home dere. Stopped by my local petsmart a few miles Down down the road in Glenmont today. Needed some treats to reward my Yorkie Benny with when he pees outside. This time of year with the cold icy conditions he does not like to go outside. So when I walk him and he goes outside as he should, he gets rewarded with a special treat. Other than the normal milkbone he has come accustomed to. The treat he goes crazy for is Beggin Strips and I was happy to see they had 25 Oz packages at petsmart. The ones I've been getting at Walmart are only 6 Oz. With what I've been paying at Walmart, I got 7 to 8 Oz for free. And I won't need to buy it again for some time. I live the selection of treats, food brands and pet accessories. Sometimes if you want something, go to where they specialize in it. Petsmart is the place for all things pets. read more

We have brought our puppy here 4 times in 9 months. We got the puppy cut 1x and the Furminator plus nail grind (80 ish plus 13). The last time I brought her in she resisted like crazy. Once we got in the grooming door she started shaking uncontrollably. I thought she was being overly dramatic because she probably assumed we were headed to the dog park as usual. I got a phone call from the groomer, Tammy, saying there was an issue. When I picked my 9 months old pup up, Tammy explained again that, my dog had lunged at her and aggressively tried to bite her. I said " are you telling me my dog lunged at you and tried to bite you?" She said yes. It's a tough pill to swallow and either something happened the last time she was there or this time. Tammy also was trying to direct me to enrollment in their training program (during the complete confusion when they brought my traumatized puppy out, she was trying to up sell me, and print out my bill, and saying she tried to bite her. The groomer that had worked with my dog before was there. I asked her what she saw and she said nothing, would not even make eye contact with me. Boo petsmart. Not okay. We will take her somewhere where the groomer is actually trained. read more

warning: it is dangerous to come here with an 11 year old tween. in case you didn't know, chinchillas are the Cuuuuttteeest ever. and are a Must have. please please please can we have one? and yes, they Are cute but i just don't need another animal, albeit a super cute softie soft one. what i Needed was some organic, non-corn, mostly meat cat food. i didn't have the time to drive out to benson's on wolf road so i crossed my fingers and came here. they had a pretty nice selection of organic, natural and such foods. the non-corn ones are of course more expensive but not too much (and our kitties are worth it). i couldn't find the anachris (for the turtleheads) and the very helpful guy at the register walked back with me to ask the fish girl. turns out that it was hiding behind the ladder. but she said that what they had left wasn't in good enough condition to sell but if i came back on monday (when they have their shipment) that i would be in luck. so i went back up to the register and there was a guy there with his lanky puppy who proceeded to thoroughly clean my apparently very dirty hand. smiling, the register man handed me a paper towel. i thought that was very sweet and attentive. basically, this was a nice visit to a store and i will come here again. read more

Our Frenchie gets her monthly bath at the PetSmart grooming salon inside this store, and it's always been a good experience. The ladies that work in the salon love our dog and they do a good job, although our girl is low maintenance and just requires a basic bath. We've worked with Victoria, Taylor, Jennifer, Courtney and it's always been very good. It usually takes about an hour, and we try to go during the week because the weekends can get a bit busy in there. read more

As a former employee of this PetsMart, I can vouch for the care of the animals in this store. And, as the previous reviewer warned, it's dangerous to be there. I even learned to handle snakes after a life-long fear of them. I ended up taking home mice, lizards, guinea pigs and rats. Some of them have passed on, some were re-homed, and some I still have. I especially LOVE pet rats!!! Two of three are still with me as are three of the four lizards! The guinea pigs were re-homed and have a fantastic new life. The floor employees are the best, but some of the managers are sort of, shall we say, out there. But, the managers will make sure you're taken care of in the best manner available. We have a standard Poodle, and as most know there is alot of care and maintenance that come with owning one. We have been bringing Ava there since she was a puppy and now she is 10 years old. After covid the Pet Smart in Glenmont NY has gone down in service and quality many groomers are new. We dropped her off after having a mediocre experience in December 2020 thinking they were just getting back in the swing. This last experience in the March 2021 was awful, they were unorganized we dropped her off at a scheduled 1145am apt. We did not get a call at 230pm so in times past she would have been done. We arrived to find her still in a cage and not even started... we were told to come back a 4pm. We came back to find her exhausted and with a rushed hair cut....the superviser was very insensitive...We have been loyal to Petsmart in both grooming and buying products, but will longer support them. We will not be bringing our princess Ava there for grooming and put her through another experience like that. We have decided to put our money to other places that care about our dog and our expectations.. read more

We love going to get our fur babies their goodies. We have a dog, a cat and a Guinea pig. Whenever we make a petsmart run they all end up getting very spoiled. Whenever we go in everyone is always polite and greet you and are always asking if you need assistance. I can't speak about trainings or groom because we don't use them. I though service was professional - but have had issues since. First when checking dog in for bath package, I instructed them to check her glands, which is part of the deal. However receptionist failed to tell groomer and this was not done. There is like a report card which lists all services given. Had to bring her back in for gland cleaning. Even though a service is supposed to be included, it won't be unless you specifically tell them to do it and then check while still in store that it was done. Dog later developed an itchy rash on her inner left thigh and under left arm, which we thought was bites. Over a later we had to get her relief so brought her to the vet. Rash diagnosed as allergic dermatitis. Not provable, but doctor suspects the (hypoallergenic?) tangerine shampoo was not rinsed from these areas. Cost $80 for visit, antibiotics and prednisone. So you have to instruct them to rinse off soap thoroughly. The $20 bargain likely ended up costing $100 and 11 days of a suffering pup. read more

The girl in the aquarium department was down right rude to us and talked down to us with a bad attitude just because we had no knowledge of the plants/fish we wanted. I politely said I was sorry and there was no need for attitude and her response to her PAYING CUSTOMER was "You have the attitude!". I live close to this store location and will not be returning to spend any more money here despite the convenient location. If i had more time I would've personally stopped and complained to her manager. read more

So I'm totally upset over the horrible service offered by this company!!! I scheduled the appointment online and ensured to call my vet to have them fax over the proof of my pets up to date vaccination. I was called the day before the appointment with the receptionist. She was very disorganized because the appointment was scheduled for 5 pm and she said 6 pm and I corrected her several times in regard to the appointment. Then I asked if she received the documents from the vet and she claimed that I don't have anything to worry about because the vet information was documented on their system. So my daughter took our pet to the Glenmont, NY PetSmart to be told that he could get groomed. The supervisor was absolutely the worst in dealing with the situation saying that the receptionist is new and unfamiliar with the policy. Mind you the rabies tag is on the pet from 2017... I thought this vaccine is good for 2-3 years....overall I was told by the staff in the grooming section that they aren't sure when the vaccine was given but we all know what it is no wants to help!!! I honest give them a zero for customer care overall the manager wasn't allowing me to speak so I would be following up with the fact that it isn't my fact that you trainee made such mistakes that cost the company money. This leaves me feeling away from knowing that Petsmart lacks the ability to handle customer relations...Oliver for the record you suck as a manager!!!! read more

Went here today to get my cat's nails trimmed at the Grooming department. Besides the fact they were the only PetSmart to groom cats' nails on weekends, the ladies who helped me were really great and nice. You can tell they enjoy working with all the dogs and cats and are good at handling different animal personalities! read more

I took my dog there to have his nails trimmed today. He has been there once before and it was not an issue as it was late and we were the only people there. Today was a different story. They were busy and had a line. I waited and the lady took him to grind his nails. My dog is a frengle and only 31 pounds. He was pulling away from her a little and was getting close to the edge of the table. She picked him up and moved him back to the middle a couple of times but then stopped trying to move him. She didn't ask for help or try to hold him against her body. Never once did he growl, yelp, or open his mouth. All of a sudden he inched his way off the table and was swinging by the neck like he was being noosed. I screamed oh my god and another lady turned to help. The woman glared at me for several seconds before even helping my poor dog. I immediately went to the manager with this because she never apologized and acted as if nothing happened. He came over and acted like I was bothering him by telling him what happened. He made an apology that seemed entirely fake and walked away. I still had to pay for that traumatic experience none the less. Have your dog's grooming needs done at your vet or a professional place that specializes in it. If I had not been in that room I am sure they would have never told me and they could have broken his neck. read more
