Kaila has been our groomer for at least a decade and I can't imagine bringing them to anyone else…read more We have some easy dogs and we have a couple of assholes (or at least asshole adjacent); Kaila has never had an issue figuring them out and finding a way to work with them. We have one guy who will absolutely bite me if I try to trim his hair, but he trusts Kaila implicitly. We have another dog who can't even get her nails trimmed at the vet; she will only let Kaila do it. Between our own dog and dogs we've fostered she's probably worked on at least 200 that I can think of and when I say she treats each of them as her own I'm not being hyperbolic. As an individual Kaila is easy to communicate with, honest, and totally fair. So happy to be able to support a locally owned and operated small business like hers.

Not only does Doggie Style charge a few bucks less than where we were previously bringing our pup, but they also did a better job! Plus you can't beat the convenience of having your groomer come to you. Brittany got to our house right at 2, the van was parked on our street with our dog in it for about an hour, and he came out so clean and fluffy. She took the time to brush him out and clip him rather than shave him down. We will absolutely continue to use their services. The only thing that would improve things would be Saturday appointments (the hours are Monday-Friday), or late evening appointments during the week. It's not a huge inconvenience to take an afternoon off or to work from home every 9 weeks for us, but I can see how it would make it easier for a lot of people.

I have a really small but sharp pair of scissors and weekly I found myself cutting off golf ball sized mattes from her fur; around her neck, on her belly. Luckily she's a really agreeable girl and never really minded this procedure. It wasn't until she had three bad bouts of diarrhea in a row that I reached my last straw. With the long hair around her butt, liquid poop was a nightmare. When I called, Greg's voicemail politely stated that they were not currently accepting new clients; but I left a message anyway. I asked them to please please please shave my cat. They responded the next day with amazing news! They wanted to make room in their schedule for her. For the first time in 10 years, I was able to truly behold the shape of my kitty. She's tremendously flabby and soft...and so adorable I burst into tears when I saw her new doo. Thank you, Greg.

We live in…read moreBrooklyn, but my in-laws live in Albany, and we generally wait to schedule haircuts for our pup until we're in Albany just because we like Sundance so much. The first time I dropped my pup off there, I was naturally a bit nervous, but when I came to pick him up (and I was about 30 minutes late), he was hanging out in a play area waiting for me, and looked totally relaxed. I felt so much better about this than I did when he was sitting in a cage waiting for me to pick him up from his last groomers. Sundance had also taken a little video with my pup which she posted to fb where he was totally at ease. The most recent haircut took a lot longer as it was right after Christmas, and Sundance was super busy, but we understood and also our pup was perfectly relaxed when he came home. His haircut was a little longer than before, but that's because it's winter in NY. Honestly, the peace of mind knowing that my pup is being taken care of by someone generally interested in his well-being means I'm happy with whatever haircut he comes out with. their humane business practices are also amazing. If I could make any suggestion, it would be - get blueberry shampoo!

The staff were knowledgeable of how to cut for my long haired pup. He even came home in a red plaid kerchief. And, he smells delightful, his fur is soft as silk. Ahhhh, a clean dog. Parking was sufficient for dropping off/or picking up. The boutique was sufficiently large enough to accommodate 2 ladies to groom 2 dogs at a time. No off-putting odors I've gotten at other places. My dog, who is very cautious with hoomans, was happy to stay and accompany his groomer into the grooming space. Bring cash, they are no longer accepting cards. They also no longer offer doggie daycare.

When I boarded my two little dogs over the weekend I did not expect to be hit with $40 surcharges plus additional sales taxes. That was a surprise. The owner came out and explained that while it wasn't a holiday, it was winter break for schools so I was charged holiday rates for both nights for each dog. She was also defensive. She said her rates "are competitive" with other dog boarding facilities. A check of online websites showed me that her statement is not accurate. Camp Bow Wow's rates are higher. Some kennels charge more to board larger dogs, but at Camp Bow Wow we all pay the same rate even though my dogs are tiny. I've been a loyal customer for years. The staff has done well for my dogs. While I agree that good work should be compensated, but I disagree with the lack of notification. No one likes surprises. If you're planning to charge me holiday rates on non-holidays, you should tell me in advance or put in it writing on your website. That's only fair.

My 7 year-old Maltese, Frederick spent this last year being walked twice a week by several of the staff at HOTH. I receieved gracious notes, he had the opportunity to meet other dogs in the neighborhood, and I was always treated in a caring, professional, and thoughtful manner. Fred also made two stays at the Bed and Biscuit, being cared for round the clock by HOTH staff. I have NEVER boarded my dog, so leaving him with someone outside of family and close friends was a choice I made very carefully. The cost for walks and overnight stays was reasonable and something I could afford living on the very small budget of a graduate student. I always felt wonderful knowing Fred was getting some love and attention during my long days at work. I can't recommend their services enough to coworkers and friends with animals. One of the only reasons I am sad to be leaving the Albany area for a new job in St. Kitts, is not getting to work with Hounds on the Hudson!
