Regretfully, We will no longer be going there. We had taken our cat in to get his rabies shot and have his nails clipped. No problem. We noticed 2 days after the visit that our cat has common tape worms. I thought I would just stop in and pick up some worm pills from the vet. The vet assistant told me since it had been 2 days I would have to make another appointment........another $50 or whatever the office visit fee is, just to get a $2 tape worm medicine. I have been taking my dog to Petsmart at Easton, Columbus, OH. for 10years for grooming and nail clips. Her rabies shot and license is always current with the tag to prove the dates. Today when my son took her, he was told that we needed to provide the paperwork from her vet, not something I readily have on hand, and this is the first time I have every been asked to provide this. I called and spoke to the manager on duty, Ashley, and questioned this, she was very rude and unprofessional, stated she has been working there for years and they always ask for paperwork, so basically called me a liar. She stated if I wasn't happy with their policy that I could just find another company and hung up on me. I realize my negative review is not going to put PetSmart out of business, but makes you wonder if their employees are this rude and unprofessional, how are they treating our pets ! read more

This Petsmart review is specifically for the puppy training class. I took the class with Sasha R as the trainer. I was very impressed with Sasha. She was very knowledgeable about dogs, dog behavior, how to train, and managing your expectations. She was clearly very passionate about what she does. She had a good handle on the group setting, which was very chaotic at times. What I really liked was that she brought her own dog with her to demonstrate some of the tasks. I was out sick one week, and Sasha had no problem doing a make-up class for me. I am really looking forward to signing up for another training class with her. Highly recommended! read more

Pretty disappointed with their grooming salon. We took our 12 year old standard poodle there to be groomed yesterday. We brought him in at 2:30 and they didn't get done with him till 630. The reason why they said it took so long is because his fur was matted. We brushed his top out even before bringing him just so they wouldnt shave it off. But all they did was bathe him and shave all of his fur entirely off - including the topknot. He is a POODLE- so now he looks goofy! :( It's almost like they were so busy or over booked that when they got to him they didn't really have time to brush him out -just shaved everything off. His skin also seems irritated in some spots where maybe they shaved too closely. Nonetheless we will be taking him elsewhere next time and cancelling our other dog's appointment. read more

This visit, they had an adoption event going on and there were plenty of kittens that needed homes. Much like the other locations I have visited, this store was clean, the shelves were well-stocked, and it is always easy to find what I need. I only go to the Banfield in Petsmart. The cashiers need cultural training. In both my experiences with cashiers at this store the cashiers are very prejudice. Today the cashier chatted away with a person about her personal life and her pets while I sat in line for 6 minutes by myself. When she finally waited on me there was no greeting nor apology for making me wait. The last time I was there I waited in line behind a chatty cashier. A couple came up behind me and the line grew. She said I will take the next person, which was me. She told the couple behind me to come up. I said I was next and the cashier shrugged like she was deaf. We got to meet a girl working in the aquarium area that was just a huge regret. I regret that we started a conversation. I regret that we asked her anything. She had an attitude that began when she asked if we needed help with anything. We were deciding what aquarium would be appropriate for the fish that my daughter liked. We asked if the aquarium that we had in the cart was big enough for guppies. She bit my head off. We were told that we would NOT be buying fish today and she spoke to us like we were idiots. Like it was a struggle for her to move her lips and we were just there to make her job hard. We asked a question. Did not ask her to do anything. I have about 30 years on this little girl and have had several aquariums in my lifetime. Her advice was correct but her attitude was absolutely uncalled for. She had all four legs on the ground but limps because of her age. I offered to sign a waiver but NO was the answer. I have been using the same Petsmart for years and they know my Dog. I was walking into petsmart. I always look at the reptiles and guniea pigs and I noticed the bearded dragons enclosure was very dry and the soil wasn't changed. This review is for the grooming center. My dog is a 135 lb golden retriever who looks very intimidating but the truth is that he is a giant baby. In fact, he is so scared of the dryer that they have to keep him longer to air dry him. Many groomers won't take him because he is so large but this place does and they do a remarkable job. He is always washed and cut well and his breath smells clean (for a change). I love my puppy and the people here are always so good to him that I feel like they love him too! read more

I've been a loyal Petsmart customer for years. I remember when they were Petzezz, for crying out loud (well, the location on Wilson Road, anyway; this store is new by comparison). We shopped at the store on Wilson Road, and then on Trabue, for years before this particular location opened. Since Grove City is closer and a bit easier to get to than Hilliard, we switched stores, and just like the other store, the staff has come to know my mom and I by name. I really like that about Petsmart. You're not just another nameless face to their staff. It doesn't matter if you're a novice or an experienced pet parent, either, which is really nice. I have taken my husky a few times to work on his behavioral issues and work on his manners. By allowing pets into the store, Petsmart has made itself a fantastic learning environment for dogs like mine, who need to work on their obedience and learn that it's not okay to be a jerk when other dogs pass him. Since I'm training my husky to be a service dog, this is crucial. He's not a perfect angel, but the staff love him and he's learning to be more responsive to me and ignore other dogs. They also have training classes available, which I might take part in before we make the cross-country move to Montana. From puppy preschool to basic obedience, the classes cover a lot, including socialization. I do not recommend bringing dogs that are super-aggressive, though. That wouldn't end very well for any dog or person you encounter. Their selection of food and various supplies is pretty good, though they don't carry a number of high-quality premium foods that I have found elsewhere. I keep track of pet food recalls like it's my second job. I know they don't carry most of the grocery store brands (like Dad's and Ol' Roy), which makes me really happy, but they have stuff like Kibbles 'n' Bits and Meow Mix, which are mostly animal by-product and "cereal," neither of which is good for your dogs and/or cats. My husky is on Wellness CORE (low-fat) dry food, and while I do not like feeding my cats dry food, they get Innova and Wellness in addition to their wet food (they get Fancy Feast). Thankfully, Petsmart does carry Wellness and Innova. All the same, I would rather not see grocery store specials on their shelves. Their prices are more reasonable than Petco, and certainly more reasonable than the snobby specialty shops, but I don't think they'd lose business if they pledged to carry only premium pet food as Petco has done. As far as pet treats go, I would rather shop online. Too many of their treats contain ingredients that have no business going into any pet's stomach. My mom did find some organic, 100% chicken jerky that is made here in the States when the Canyon Creek Ranch treats were recalled, but I think that was sheer luck. Like many Petsmarts, this one has a grooming salon for pets, a Banfield Veterinary Hospital, and an adoption center. It doesn't have a pet hotel like one of the other stores in the Columbus area (I think it's the Polaris location that does?) but I don't think the hotel is wholly necessary. They do sell some pet birds and rodents, as well as fish and reptiles, and all of their birds and small animals are vet-checked to ensure that they're healthy. They do NOT sell rabbits, ferrets, puppies, or kittens. I'm not quite sure why anyone would want to support puppy/kitten mills anyway, because those animals are badly-bred and horribly unhealthy. Instead, they host many adoption events to try to find homes for many unwanted pets. I have seen Colony Cats and Cat Welfare, as well as Tri-State Collie Rescue, among the dozens of general and breed-specific dog and cat rescues at their events. Since kill shelters also hold adoption events at local Petsmarts, many, many lives have been saved. When you check out at the register, you can also donate to Petsmart Charities, which benefits homeless pets. Friendly staff, decent selection of food and supplies, helping homeless pets, and an overall enjoyable atmosphere warrant the five-star rating, negative aspects aside. read more

This is my first Yelp review and it ain't gonna be pretty. We just moved to the area and scheduled my dogs for a much-needed grooming appointment. The groomers canceled at the last minute due to a sick kid. Okay, that happens. Rescheduled for later that week. They called me the day before and left a message to confirm day and time. I arrived at the appointment only to be told I came a day early. Checked my phone messages and saw they were wrong. I called them and they acknowledged their mistake and offered a 15% discount, but the issue is now about competence and professionalism. Curently disputing a large overcharge on a recent purchase. There was a box of training pads on the receipt that was not purchased. It was not even in my cart. But I am left with over 50 dollars charged to a creditcard. Manager at the store did not beleive it so I contacted corporate. Will update this review when I hear back. A bit pricey for some items and the store never seems to have very many staff members working but I can get store brand cat food at a reasonable price. Stocked fish seem to be the run of the mill community fish/popular fish with a few exceptions. No other complaints about the business. read more
