I hate to admit how often I shop at this store because I'm usually not a fan of mega chains or pet stores in general. However, I've been coming to this store regularly for several years. We now have a fishtank with 2 frogs and 5 fish and we got everything from this store (moss balls, tank decorations, the animals themselves, food, chemicals, filters, etc.), I come here once a month for dog food, and we even did a beginner dog training class with Andrew, who I'm not sure is still there but he was excellent. Do your own research on fish. Some of the staff are very knowledgeable, others will just try to get you to buy something. They sold us a single neon fish that was actually a schooling fish and the salesperson said it would school with the other types of fish in our tank, which wasn't true, and I think that neon died of loneliness after a few months. I started out with one frog and specifically asked, do I need a pair, which they answered no, but turns out frogs need friends so I went back for a second and they are doing fine. If zero stars were an option, that's what this would be. We have a 4-year-old St. Bernard, roughly 210 lbs. We were not asking for grooming -- just a nail trim and grind and an ear cleaning. We brought him to this same location in June for the nail trim and grind with zero issues. Today, from the moment Samantha saw him, our dog was treated as an inconvenience. We were told they had "never seen this type of service" for a dog like him -- for a service this store had already performed in June. She was rushed with him and visibly irritated when he laid down on the floor. He's a giant breed with imperfect hips on a slick floor with no traction; getting up isn't quick for him. When my husband stepped in to help get him up -- which he did without difficulty -- they asked him to leave. They then failed to finish the service because our dog was, in their words, too difficult to handle. So we left with an incomplete nail trim after the one person who could actually get our dog up was told to walk away. Sara and Abel, both of whom identified themselves as the manager, informed us they will not service him going forward. No solution was offered first: no mat or non-slip surface, no offer to book him with a groomer experienced in giant breeds, and no willingness to let the owner assist. If you have a big dog, or any dog that might inconvenience these employees, I would not bring your animal here. A nail trim and ear cleaning should not be beyond a store that advertises pet services. read more

For starters once I took my Pomeranian, and they shaved her because the person was incompetent and screwed up and hair never grew back the same. She was ruined. Today we took our dog in because the other place we've been taking him to was on vacation. We go to pick the dog up. His face is disgusting and he's not even trimmed. Then the rude chick claimed that's what we asked for and she can't cut. I explained no we thought he was getting trimmed that's the whole point. She continued to argue with me and tell me how wrong I was, so I ask for a manager. Then she comes at me? Instantly telling me it's our fault and he was clean and she saw him etc I said his face is disgusting and he's not even trimmed. no way did he know the dog wouldn't get trimmed. oh they aren't trained to trim just a bath and kept arguing with me ummm even if just a bath his face is disgusting. oh I saw it he was clean but if you want bring him back and we will charge you more to trim his face and give a new bath look at this photo! does he look clean to you? If you want your dog to be cared for by incompetent rude people that give you back a dirty dog and charging you almost 49 bucks, then go for it. This is my dog we just picked up from them. Does that look clean? Bc the other place that knows how to do their job always had him clean. I can't get over how rude and incompetent that place is. read more

Grooming department is unprofessional! Had an appt. I Inadvertently went to the wrong location which I completely take responsibility for. That location called and explained what happened. They told me to leave and go directly to the correct location, so I complied. I got a call from the Ken Caryl/Kipling Pkwy location while en route saying I had 10 min to get there which would make me exactly 15 min late. When I got there, I had to wait because they were having computer issues. I got there in the time advised. By the time she got logged in she had the nerve to tell me I was slightly late. Yes late by a minute from the time they advised I had to make it to their location by only because I had to wait for her to mess with the computer. Yes late overall because I went to the wrong location. She then advised she could no longer honor the bath and brush appts for my dogs. First the booked both my Goldens at 3 with same bather for bath and brush. They quote this appt 2/3.5 hrs long for each dog. She told me she could not honor the appt because she had another appt coming in at 4:00??? How is that even possible? 2 Goldens to bath in 1 hr plus another dog?? I'm not even upset about it being canceled. I'm upset because I ran clear across town when they could have just said "I'm sorry we won't be able to honor your appt" from the beginning! She had to have known she had a 4:00 appt! Then I called and asked to have the mgr call. The store mgr said she would have her call me the following day! It's been 2 days and crickets. You really can't make it up. Customer service is at an all time low! If I treated my customers like this I would not have a job and my company would not have clients! PetSmart you can be better than this, don't hire people who don't care! read more

Grooming Service Eli is a consummate professional groomer. He has taken care of our fur baby for eight years now. I can't say enough how much our entire family APPRECIATES him. We finished the classes with the training to teach our 4 month old German Shepherd puppy how to do the basics and start practicing right away. My 1st time in this store for grooming and sadly I would give them 0 stars if possible. I thought I would try their grooming services since they were the only location with immediate availability (now I know why). I walked in and the groomer immediately told me that my dog is matted- without even touching his fur. She goes to say that she will most likely use a 10 blade and he'll be naked. Again, this is even BEFORE she touched his fur and then said how she will have to charge extra. She just didn't want to put in the effort and it showed. I told her I'll just take him somewhere else and went to talk to the manager about a refund. Well, long story short, they couldn't refund me because the package wasn't purchased at their location. Their managers were nice and professional so this review does not reflect on the store itself, just the groomer! After calling my original Petsmart location, they told me that the groomer put DO NOT BOOK on my account. I started laughing because I wish I could put that exact thing on her. Me and my mom stopped by petco to buy some dog food for our dog. We haven't stopped by in a while, and we where looking for a 50 pound bag of food for our dog. We couldn't find the bag, so my mom asked the guy at the front if they had any in the back. He then proceeded to talk to my mom as if she where stupid. He didn't let her finish her sentences. We ended up buying two 25 pound bags for the match of one, and the same cashier was continuously making snooty and sassy comments towards my mom. I dont have much experience working in retail, but the worker seemed very unprofessional, and couldn't keep his cool. When we where on the way out of the store, he made some very sarcastic comments about her, and insulted her. This is some of the worst costumer service i've ever seen. I've been going to this PetSmart for years and never had a problem until today. Eli in the grooming department was rude and unprofessional. Argued with me about the breed of my dog as if I was a idiot and changed her file so they can make an extra $4.00. I highly doubt that there adoption papers and vet records are wrong but the groomer is right. And yet her breed has never been a question for the 4 years I've had them groom her until today. On top of the poor situation, they didn't brush her out like they usually do. I don't care about an extra charge. I'm upset with how the situation was handled and the poor customer service. read more

Grooming's customer service here is terrible. My appointment got cancelled because the person called in and I have been waiting 2 weeks for this appointment. My dog needed a simple nail trim and a face cut at minimum and they couldn't accommodate to even that. They stated that the soonest they could see my dog was Wednesday but I booked this appointment specifically because we leave on our trip then and it would be too late. Very frustrating that they can't accommodate to customers especially when I have waited so long and wasn't asking for very much. Unless your willing to sacrifice your appointment booked in advance two weeks to be cancelled and then not willing to accommodate you, don't book here. read more

I love this Petsmart. It's conveniently located on Kipling and 470, staff is friendly, store is always stocked with our favorite dog food (Blue Buffalo) and we never have trouble finding parking. They close at 9pm, which is a bit later than you'd expect and greatly appreciated, especially on those nights where you realize that your dog food inventory is dangerously low. Took my mini bernedoo in for a groom. Yes, I know he has mats, he's a dog with curly hair, it happens. Isn't a groomer supposed to know how to deal with that? Isn't that why they're paid $100+? My kids can bathe and brush him, but he needs someone with expertise to navigate the dreaded mats. Enter Eli. I took him last year and he shaved my little guy so short you could see his skin, face and all, he looked like a schnauzer and he was embarrassed, just moped around the house sighing and harrumphing. So sad! Take him for a groom today and there is the same guy who butchered him last time: Eli. Who said he needed the "naked" shave, and I said "no way." He just pulled off the lead and walked away. I'm in a sling, so I have one arm, not easy to put a collar and leash back on an excited dog. I had to ask him to come back and put the collar back on, Which he did, but he was super rude throughout the whole short exchange. Maybe he used to shave heads at the Supermax prison, that's the demeanor. read more

The grooming salon was a joke. They destroyed my poodle. She was cut bald, which left burns, they chopped her huge tail, instead of brushing it out which was pure laziness, didn't bother to shave the inside of the ears, the "clean face" was a dismal flop, the "clean feet" were uneven and sloppy, her topknot was not even or shaped (not even brushed) and she was generally sloppy in the overall appearance. This is a service dog and is out on public everyday as well as used for demonstrations for education purposes for service dog law, but she looks so poor, I have to take her to another groomer to have her "fixed" due to the poor job Brenda did on my dog. When I saw what she did to my dogs tail, she didn't apologize, she simply said, it grows back! WTF? What kind of an idiot cuts off a giant, fluffy tail (she was instructed not to) or doesn't bother to call and ask? As a former groomer I did, called customer service! I got my money back (at least they claim I will but hasn't shown up yet). I also asked for bracelets on my dog, but she had no idea what they were either. She's been grooming for 8 years but had no idea what bracelets were on a poodle? This is a standard term in the industry! They painted my dogs nails, it looked like a 5 year old did it. Overall, I am appalled by how bad this groomer did on my dog, but when they don't take any accountability for their bad work, that's what really sets me off. The fact that she let's my dog off the table like this is despicable! Oh and just to affirm this, we were stopped by two other groomers who commented on how lousy the grooming job was so clearly it's not just me, yes Brenda, you really do suck at this! read more

I take my dog to training here and Andrew is amazing! After just one class my dog has severely changed on the leash. I can control him now and even loose leash walk him! Worth every penny just for that one session. I can't wait to finish the beginners course! Thank you petsmart for teaching me how to be a better alpha. read more

I had my setter into their groomer yesterday, and the groomer, Angel, felt her ears and brisket and asked for me to initial permission to shave off any mats. I got into my car, started heading home, and then I thought, wait a sec, SHAVE? I called her and said I assume she means cut, but surely she doesn't plan to shave a setter's ears and chest??? She said no, the mats are too close to the skin, the dog needed her ears and brisket shaved. I said stop right there, I'll come back and get her. So today I sprayed a little of my daughter's detangler on the ears and brisket, and I got all the mats out in about 8 minutes. Angel is just a lazy slug. I mean, I would have been happy to give a nicer tip, or pay a ten dollar surcharge, but her first lazy instinct was to send me back a Chinese hairless. Go somewhere else, or at the very least, ask for a groomer other than Angel. As an amateur, with just a human comb and some cheap schoolgirl detangler, I did what a "professional" groomer claimed was impossible, in well under ten minutes. Ridiculous, what a dishonest lazy cheat. read more

DO NOT go here for grooming services. The technicians are not trained very well and do not do a very good job, especially with nail trimming services. Very disappointed that I had to pay for the nail grind, when they only got 3 out of 4 paws done. I came back the next day to see if we could get the final paw complete, however, because my dog needs 2 people to hold him and one person to do his nails, they were not willing to do this or even try. Not only has the nail salon lost out of business of mine in the future, but with me living within walking distance, they've lost my business of any store purchases for their lack of customer service. read more

The store is fine, however the managers could use some training in dealing with people. If you end up talking to a manager make sure you look at least 30 otherwise they will not take you seriously and could care less about your needs. read more
