I would like to express my deepest sadness to experience such an awful event when I took my dog for the first time to the grooming centre at this shop. the groomer Daniella B was extremely rude and made me so uncomfortable to leave my dog with her. she doesn't belong to this sensitive job and she put no effort to connect with my dog nor me as a pet parent. she needs to understand before having a privilege to touch any of these animals she needs to earn their owners trust. This was my first time at PetSmart Grooming, and unfortunately, it did not leave a good impression. When I arrived, there was no acknowledgment of my presence from the staff. I had to initiate the greeting myself, which felt unwelcoming. Shortly after, I was informed by a staff member that my dog was "matted" and that there would be an additional charge of $24, and that the hair would need to be cut short. As a longtime pet owner who has had many dogs groomed over the years, I found this explanation and extra charge unreasonable. If the hair is being cut short, matting should not be an issue that warrants an upcharge. For your information, I was able to de-mat my dog at home in less than 15 minutes without any difficulty. Overall, this experience made me uncomfortable, and I chose to walk-out and cancel my appointment. Pet Smart is always a disapointment. Staff is fine, like anywher some care more than others, but shopping here is awful, you always get scewed one way or the other. I come or order because it is big and the most convenient but I am every single time, irritated wth the experience. I think I will start gong elewhere or ordering from Amazon regardless of cost.... For example, I had cupons for BOGO on treats, from a cupon book Petsmart gives you when you adopt a pet. When i decided to use it I had 3 containers of treats, $25 each, and one small envelope that was $3.50. The woman at the cash rings me up with the discount appliend to the treat that were $3.50. Of course, she did, the system charges the smallest amount possible, but my cupon had already been run through and she sais she could reverse it, but I could return the treats and get my 3.50, whcih I hadn;t been charged. Really?? Couldn't she have mentioned it in advance or PetSmart have a real way to deal with it? Does anyoe thingk i wanted to pay $50 for tears and apply the cupon to $3???? wtf Petsmart. And I order home delivery, and the wrong item gets sent to me, the only way to correct it is to take the wrong item to the store with my receit and get it corrected.... good thing I saved myself the hassel by getting home delivery. I have been a long-time customer of the PetSmart Grooming salon in Richmond Hill, specifically at the High Tech Road location. Unfortunately, my recent experience was not the best. My dog returned with a nick on her tail, and the area around her bum became badly infected, requiring a visit to the vet. While the salon manager was very nice and helpful, I never received a follow-up call from the actual groomer to address what went wrong. I was hoping for some communication from the groomer, but it never came, so I am posting this review a couple of months after the incident. This experience has left me very disappointed with a grooming salon I have trusted for so long. read more

I love going to PetSmart with my husband and my new puppy who is 4 months old. I'm just a little disturbed by something that happened today. We were trying on new harnesses for our dog and my dog would never run away but the store associate thought she would so she came over and told us that our puppy is loose, we understand that she must be on a leash at all times but I know my dog walked over and didn't leave our aisle. The store associate then walked over ten minutes later, was all over my dog and kissed her on the mouth, I did not appreciated that at all. You should never kiss someone else's dog on the lips, by any circumstance PERIOD. This is my dog and it made me have a lot of anxiety when the store associate did that. Yes, you may touch my dog, ask me first. This dog is in training to be my service dog. She didn't have a vest on because she is too young but we are training her. I don't mind her being pet by other people, because I give people permission. But don't be all over my dog by kissing her in the lips! Disgusting! Side note, great products, other friendly associates. And in the near future we will be using Pet's Hotel, Daycare, and Dog Grooming services. We love the toy selection, and other great selection of things for our dog. We were both just disturbed by the situation that happened. read more

My go-to Petsmart, it isn't bad. But it isn't great lol. I come here for all my pet needs as this one is pretty big and encompasses all the products that a basic Petsmart has. They have lots of aisles for cat food and it is sorted from the "premium" to the trash cat food, which makes it easy to buy the good stuff. Also love how they have an adoption centre for cats. Most of the time it's empty though which could be a great thing. :) I like their clearance stuff and combined with a coupon can get you a great deal. What is meh for me is the service. Quite often there isn't someone to help you or they're being bombarded by other people. Cashiers are meh most of the time and I am meh about this business. It's like the Walmart of pet items. Lesser quality service but really good price if you're on their email list and get the coupons (usually buy a certain amount and get $$ off) I have not tried their services but judging from the other reviews I prob won't use the hotel ever. Very disappointing experience with the doggy care camp We had booked our dog into the daycare and explained that our dog has separation anxiety and can't be left alone or he will chew his sides. He is good with other people and dogs but can't be isolated. We had this conversation with someone on the phone and the person who registered our dog at the store. We asked it if was possible for him to be put in a cone if he does start to chew but we were told no. We were assured that the staff were very good at distracting the dogs and keeping them busy if he does chew. At some point he was isolated so he completely chewed one of his sides to the point the skin was raw. He must have been isolated for an extended period of time because he has ever injured himself to this extent. We were given a $600 vet bill even tho it was the staffs neglect. If we had known he would have been isolated at any point we would have no booked him in. We were open and honest from the beginning on his needs and the daycare should have been open that there would be periods of time where they are crated individually. read more

Bad customer service, because if their order gets canceled by door dash online, it is the customer's responsibility to find out why. their contact centre's are US based and they gave out wrong information. if you try calling this store, they re too busy to check your order, communicate problems or solve problems. my cat's food will run out today .. why ? I started ordering since February 14, and the order did not show up on February 15 from Doordash. The US contact center told me to reorder and it will arrive in 1-2 business days. when I called the store, they said 2-5 business days. I also found out today that my first order is still active and the store actually has it. the store associate kept telling me to do curb side pickup when I told him that the snow blocked my driveway yesterday. today, I called their contact center and they said that they could contact doordash. really, maybe petsmart should get their process right. now, I won't shop there... because I rather give money to a Canadian small business. read more

We recently boarded our dog for 5 days , paying extra for a daily playtime. Our dog came home very sick, vomiting for 2 days. One of the reasons i can deduce is that their policy of having the dogs relieve themselves indoors only, which our dog wont do. The first thing our dog did as soon as we picked her up on the way to our car was to take a dump. She couldnt wait to get to the grass. We supplied our food but i have my doubts that they used it. Took my dog for day are at 6:30 pm and had asked if she would get to play with other dogs. Two people who work there told me yes at 7 there would be walk and play for 45 mins. Come 7 they did not take my dog. She was kept in a room which i think is a crate not room for 2 hours. Better to keep your dog home alone than leave at this place. I used their pet hotel service 3 times in the last 3 years that I had my cat. Everytime I went on vacation for, 3 days or 5 days or more, I always brought my cat here with good result each time. Each time I came back - we got a report card saying how she did and there was a note saying everyone loved our cat because she was so friendly and was the center of all the staff's attention. However last January I decided to bring her in again for another vacation. Apparently, some douchebag decided that it would be a good idea to force feed her by stretch opening her jaws and force feeding down her throat. Supposedly she had refused to eat on the first day so they figured why not give her the best experience of her life and force things down her throat. She refused to eat even harder after this terrifying first day experience and as a result she supposedly became very angry at everyone. You wonder why she became angry after what you've done to her. No, you DO NOT open a cat's mouth and start shoving down food their throat and wonder why this is not working. My emergency contact(a friend) was contacted to come and collect my cat because petsmart couldn't feed my cat anymore. She refused harder the more they tried to shove it down her throat. She was extremely stressed and lost so much weight that her body looked boney when our friend had come to pick her up. She had also shed so much fur from all the stress. It made me so angry to learn what had happened to my cat. My friend was able to give my cat a better care than the people at petsmart even though he had no prior experience cat sitting or even owning a cat. She also didn't eat the first day at his house because she was still so stressed but he made her feel better by giving her attention(lots of petting and playing) and she went back to eating her food again. This is all that was needed to do - some attention and petting to make her feel better, not giving her the ultimatum and shoving food down her throat simply because she didn't want to eat on the first day there. And if things are not working out, call the f-ing vet who I left the contact info for. Just wtf was wrong with the staff that handled this whole situation? I seriously didn't have any issue here until that incident. Do not leave your pet here! There may be some caring people that work there but there are also idiots that don't know how to handle situations and making things go very wrong for your pet. read more

It took me a couple weeks to write this. I don't usually review products/services, but am so upset I had to. Took my two dogs to Petsmart Argentia on July 24/19 for a scheduled appointment at 130. Behind us were approximately 7 to 9 dogs. My dogs were not ready until about 5. When I picked up my dogs my puggle who was in for basic grooming still had a wet butt. My big girl who has joint problems looked like she may have had a bath. She was there for grooming with trim, nails, gland expression. I am disappointed , as I feel my dogs were left to the end and didn't receive the service I paid for. Will never and I mean never spend another penny at Petsmart in any department. I think they discriminate based on breed and frequency. I have difficulty doing my dogs nails so always take them to someone else. Thought I would give petsmart another try, as I did use them years ago when I had a Lhasa, never again. Pocket dogs and designer dogs are probably their specialty because they are easy to handle. Personally, I don't trust pet hotels that look glamorous for the owners, but mistreat the animals behind the scenes. That said, I'm not rating based on Petsmart's hotel feature. The staff at Petsmart are generally rude and unhelpful, not to mention very hard to locate aside from the cashiers. I looked around for help for a good ten minutes before I found a teenager sitting on packs of dog food who apparently worked there. Aside from horrible service, Petsmart carries a good variety of pet supplies. You can adopt cats from the Toronto Cat Rescue at various locations. I suggest coming during their Adopt-a-Thon events, when the adoption fees are only $75.00 per cat. read more

The place is very well stocked, unlike a lot of other PetSmarts (i.e.: the one located on Castlemore was a bit of a disappointment). The brands range from low grade foods (i.e.: Pedigree/Purina/Pro-Plan) to those of higher grade (Royal Canin, Science Diet, etc.). There is also a Pet Hotel and Grooming location there - neither of the places do I have personal experience with so I cannot write a review about that section (except for the daycare...read down). This location also features a Cat Adoption, which is nice because there are way too many kitties without homes :(. There's a huge clothing variety as well, which is always nice!!! There are always sales going on so after Christmas, I bought a bunch of sweaters for my other dog (because she refuses to wear a jacket due to its bulk...#firstworlddogproblems). What I was a little weirded out by was the high volume of dogs in one small space at the daycare. I'm very glad that PetSmart has an open concept window where you can see the dogs frolic and play during the day. However, I just think that it's a super small amount of space for 20/30 dogs to be in. My dog's daycare has up to 60 dogs at one time...but they are in a 6800 square feet location. I just think small space with a high volume of dogs leads to increased risk of transmission of contagious diseases. I realize that all dogs need to be vaccinated and such but the high density just sets me off a bit. read more

The opening of this Petsmart was a big event because it was the first Petsmart Hotel in the GTA. I went for a tour in the Petsmart hotel and let me tell you, it was a pretty sweet deal. If only human hotels had the amount of care, and fun and games as this one. They even have a pet booth with a web cam that you can call the number and see your pet in the booth as you are "talking" to him.. some may call it pathetic or over the top, I call it awesome! The petsmart itself, beside the Petsmart hotel is pretty much like any Petsmart. You can find a good array of gourmet treats and other supplies, accessories and toys. If you're looking for something specific for your dog, chances are Petsmart will have it! read more

There's not much to say about a retail store but I find this location to have trouble staying in stock. I was looking for a particular shampoo that wasn't on the shelf. I know it is out of stock but I figured I would ask the staff when the next order is coming in. An associate there with "manager" on her bags came and scanned it with her hand held and told me that it was oos and there's nothing on order and showed me the screen like it was special. ... What? If it's not on order then order it! There are holes all over the shelves there. It sucks that this is my closest petsmart. I swear, if anyone from home office reads this review, please, your staff in this location needs more training on being in stock. I went here because I had a horrible customer service experience with Big Al's on Yonge and steeles. The people at the fish department are friendly, always smiling, and happy to help you. I recently bought a 15 gallon aquarium, accessories, and fish from them and I couldn't be happier. Store appearance : Very well kept and cleaned. The only thing that I have to say is the washrooms are not kept well and for such a big place I found it appalling to say the least. There was pee left in the urinal that had not been flushed in days! and it smelled like hell. I went to another washroom at another store. Customer service: Customer service is number one here. The staff are friendly and helpful. They do not push you for sales as they are only paid per hour not commission based. They really do care about their customers. My experience is great. They had wag tail platties on sale and ran out so the representative gave me a red mickey mouse platty for the same price. Cost: The cost was very reasonable and they have these pet memberships discounts which I always look forward to. Overall experience was great. The fish staff was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. I will be coming back for my 2nd and third fish tank for my son and daughter. read more

Brought in my 10 month old German shepherd puppy to stay at the PetSmart Hotel for the night. The employee saw her get a bit too excited and anxious and claimed she had to call another location to see if they could take her(never a problem at Ajax location). Refused to let her join the group play and kept wasting our time in hopes that we would just leave. We asked for an exit bath with teeth brushing and nail grinding and when we went to pick her up we were told they didn't do the nail grinding because she kept moving which again has never been an issue at the ajax location. She's never given them a hard time!! We finally brought her home and realized she kept sleeping, she was quiet and kept shivering. Not sure what they did but I will be taking her to the vet to see what's wrong. Poor puppy! Will definitely not be returning to this location. read more

Yesterday I went there the first time for my dog's grooming service. I dropped my dog off at 9:30am just requested shower service and simple cut. They called me back 1.5 hour later told me that my chow chow was not in the good mood and didn't want to be cut anymore and asked me to take him home. I went there to pick up my dog, and the guy told me that he might have cut my dog's nail too short that's why he was upset. When I asked if my dog was bleeding ,he told me no. I took my dog home and had a closer look at his nail, found out he was actually bleeding. So I called back to the store, another lady told me they already put the powder on my dog's nail to stop bleeding. I was like, when I asked earlier today, the guy told me my dog wasn't bleeding?! I was really upset that they didn't tell me the truth the first time, if I knew beforehand, I could ask for extra powder to put on my dog's nail. My dog didn't want to eat anything yesterday and obviously he was in pain. I found not all the groomers are experienced, I won't go back again. Be careful when you take your dogs for grooming service and ask for experienced groomer!!! read more

PetSmart regularly hosts rescue cats from various local shelters for people to view and adopt. This review is for the rescue cat adoption services, not other aspect of the store. My BF and I adopted a lovely kitten at this location. The process was simple enough. We were given a form to fill out. A store assistant, Leah, went through the form and provided us advice as to more realistic annual budget for food, medical, supplies, etc. Then came the fun part. As part of the adoption welcome, we received a bag of kitten food and a coupon book from PetSmart as gifts. Still we had no other supplies and equipment to parent a cat, so we made an initial equipment shopping right there and then. What a win-win arrangement for the pet shelter (promoting the cats) and PetSmart (sales opportunity). Leah helped us pick out the absolute must-have for the next few days: litter box, cat litter, food and water bowls, cat hair brush, scratching pole, cat toys. Throughout, Leah was informative about when we can switch from kitten food to adult cat food, as well as the different types and quality of the cat food. She proactively suggested sensible money saving strategies, such as making a cat bed from a blanket and a pillow, and recommending the scratching mats and poles that were on clearance. When the coupons would result in a better deal for cat litter, she reminded us to use it. Leah also gave us a file folder that contained various adoption documents, up-to-date medical record of the kitten and store promos. Leah provided us outstanding customers services from choosing a kitten to filling out forms to purchasing supplies and equipment. At no time that we felt she tried to sell us the most expensive items, instead we felt she genuinely wanted us to succeed as cat parents. We had a pleasant and helpful process in this important adoptive experience as a result of her assistance and enthusiasm. I do realize that this positive review is purely based on the customer services of 1 employee. It could have occurred at other pet stores. Nevertheless, my experience is so positive that I'd like to encourage PetSmart to continue and other pet stores to adopt the practice. read more

I used to drive to this location from Woodbridge, as there used to be a gentleman from Science Diet who floated through the store providing coupons for discounts on their brand of food (although the discount probably covered the gas I burned driving over). When he stopped being there I stopped driving over and now go to the PetSmart in the Weston Rd/Highway 7 area. I've also utilized their pet hotel. The check in/check out process was decent, but it's the add on fees that they try to guilt you into taking that were ridiculously priced. I was once talked into putting my dog in a "suite" that had a premium bed and a tv showcasing pet friendly shows. They even offer a service where you can call in and speak to your pet while you're away. What people do for their pets is frightening. I stopped going when they refused to allow me to see a crate that dogs are usually caged in, plus they wouldn't allow my dogs to be boarded together in the same pen. Made me wonder exactly how small they were. Their doggy day care seemed interesting...an enclosed area where dogs can mix with each other...however very pricy for the service. He originally got tossed around to different groomers, but after acting up during a session it was Jaqueline that he allowed to continue on. I did some asking around and turns out, she LOVES animals, you would think they all would right? Left our dog at their Pet hotel twice now and both times they had to rush him to a hospital. First time he had a severe allergic reaction (possibly wrong food or something in environment) and the second time his testicles were enlarged and inflamed (from allergic reaction or blunt force trauma). first time I took my dog to petsmart for grooming, (last also) booked early because I know it's going to be hot, and want my dog to be as cool as possible, booked em on a wed afternoon(SydneyNS) apparently they are ALWAYS closed wed afternoon,this was 6 wks in advance. Had to rebook, 3 weeks later, when booked, asked for quote for 10 lb yorkie, for bath, nail clipping, ears cleaned and groomed, was quoted at 41$, booked, when appointment came, charged total 63$, are you kidding me, oh and btw, have to have a rabies shot there or no grooming. I WAS PISSED, manager did intervene, and gave me $ quoted, and groomer was very good, no fault on her. Will I be back,NOT A CHANCE, will I recommend them to friends and relatives, NEVER. There is very little that I buy there, (greenies can be bought much cheaper in grocery stores now, but will be dealing less and less there, and also they never tell you when buying something you have points for discount! I adopted a 3 year old poodle mix and took her here for her first grooming. When I dropped her off I warned them that she tried to nip at the vet and they had to muzzle her. They told me no problem and come back in 4 hours. They also said she was matted and they would have to shave her. I agreed to this. An hour later they called me saying she is biting them and they don't know if they can continue. I asked them why don't they just muzzle her? They said they would try. 30 minutes later they called me and said I need to come pick up my dog. They cannot continue. I talked to the manager and he was very nice and apologetic. He said that the grooming supervisor would be in on Monday and would finish grooming my dog and would call me Monday morning. When I went to pick up my dog she looked completely ridiculous. Her face and tail were still uncut. Her body was shaved right down to the skin with patches less shaved. Monday comes and no call from the grooming supervisor. I finally call her at 2pm in the afternoon. She says her next appointment would be Wednesday during the day or Sunday. I told her I need an evening. She told me it wouldn't be until the following Thursday, almost 2 weeks away. I reminded her how weird my dog looks, how I warned them that she nips, and how the store manager told me she would fix my dog that day. The grooming supervisor took no ownership at all of the situation. No apology. Did not try to accommodate me at all. Was even a bit rude. I told her I would take the Thursday appointment but I will look for another groomer in the mean time. She told me "OK". I found another groomer and they were able to fix my dog the very next day. I called PetSmart hotel on July 6 to house my 5 month old puppy. American bulldog. To my surprise and disgust they don't accept my breed. I'm sorry is this breed the next to be banned like the pitbulls. My dog is very socialized I work with kids and is there for them as a therapy dog and PetSmart cannot my puppy or "American bulldog" very disgusted. By far the worse. If you love your pet stay away. Horrible costumer service, they tell you no need for appointment to have dog nail clipping and you go there to learn they are busy and they have appointment. The worse to come, after trying to fit me in they were able to do nail clipping for three legs and could not do the forth because the poor little 9 pounds Havanese was scared and two people could not control him. Then I come to rescue and kept distracting him and they barely touch them and said done. The nails are still long, they are rough and cracked. Talking about staff, you can't find more rude and non- professional people ever.
