She went above and beyond to help move my cat to Japan, including significant off-the-clock research and follow-ups. In my opinion, her services are worth all the time and dime. Caveat, as some commenters have harped on this: her services are not cheap. But, and I'll stress it again here, her services are exceptional. My family is moving to Japan with our beloved cat, and this is a fairly involved process of vaccination and documentation. We booked a number of consults, three home visits, and asked her and her team to fill out documentation for the Canadian and Japanese governments. She handled this all so well, taking excellent care to not only give vaccinations, but also to rush ship blood samples to the US, where the rabies testing lab is located. She also came into our home with full PPE every time, ensuring our safety, which is a big factor for us. She followed up on challenging export rules and even did a final check before departure. Oh yeah, and she is amazing with animals. Our cat can be wary of strangers and medical procedures, and Dr. Tina put her at ease and left a good feeling in everyone's heart. The result? Our cat is safe and sound now in Japan with no issues at the border. Seamless. So: worth it. Seriously.

Why? I asked the vet and she explained that she knew another vet who had to go to hospital after getting scratched by a cat. A vet who doesn't get to know the animal, just terrifies it because someone she knows got scratched. Cats give off signals when they're going to scratch, so obviously her friend can't read cat signals. Maybe her friend was a vet too?! Seriously! Do not go to this practice if you have a cat.

I might be biased because I'm a professor, but if you read Dr Bureau's biography and education…read morestory on their homepage you'd hopefully be impressed. She's an animal scientist with a PhD in animal Genetics, and worked as a researcher for years. She's qualified as a vet in Canada. When you visit this animal hospital it doesn't feel like a clinic, which is reassuring for animals who might be injured or frightened. The facility is small, and the vet and her family live on-site, so your animal is well taken care of, should they need to stay. Plus, it's at Bloor and Dundas West, near the subway and a streetcar coming north. Dr Bureau focuses on animal wellness, so the visits aren't chatty, as she's busy keeping animals comfortable. I'm happy enough with that, because if you just listen you'll learn a lot about what procedures are happening, and how. I know that some go to the clinic when their pets are very unwell, and it's often traumatizing for animals and their humans. But please realize that a vet does a medical job, and can't be emotionally involved in your pet's emergency. The one-star reviews I see here are from people with either very old, or very sick animals. This vet is knowledgeable, fair, communicates, and treats animals well. I'm quite happy.
